Whenever I'm in Beverly Hills I get a craving to go to Nate n' Al's for Jewish soul food. Today I had the matzoh ball soup and knish with gravy. The soup was comforting but a tad too salty. The knish was just as expected - nicely seasoned potato wrapped in thin pastry. Nothing fancy but it satisfies my nostalgia. My husband went with the pastrami with a side of Russian dressing. He loved it and we both had leftovers for tomorrow. Service is good. Old school diner/deli vibe. Good people watching.

Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray Soda. The best!

Nate & Al's has been around a long time, dodged a near-closing during Covid, and remains a favorite among the Beverly Hills folk who may not know better or may have forgotten what a truly good deli is. Oh, it presents as a textbook Jewish deli of old, with traditional brown booths and paneled dividers, dark Formica tables, and a menu featuring the greatest hits of deli dining. But the food here is overpriced and underwhelming, like so many of the other delis around town these days. The staff is nice, for sure. They welcome you with smiles, seat you quickly, and immediately offer you drinks. Everything is clean and well-preserved, so you feel like you're in for a great meal. I ordered my usual: Pastrami on Rye, Russian Dressing on the side, with Potato Salad. To drink: Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, the very best soda for cutting through the richness of deli meat. The sandwich came promptly, and looked quite nice. The portion was appropriate for a normal sandwich (as opposed to being ridiculously stuffed), and the pastrami was nicely marbled. But looks can be deceiving. The bread was a bit too dense -- possibly made that way, or possibly a touch stale. Either way, after 2 bites I abandoned the bread and just ate the meat. The pastrami, while juicy with a soft texture, lacked flavor. I believe they bring their meat in from a purveyor, and the lack of inspiration is evident. Potato salad was also generously portioned, but had far too much mustard, and the result is a side dish that feels more Southern Picnic than Lower East Side. Again, this is a Deli serving a so-so sandwich at a price nearly the same as Katz's in NYC, and it's a shame. It's just not worth it. I've come to find that the best pastrami in Los Angeles is being served at places Johnny's in West Adams or on special at BBQ places, and usually at 2/3's the price. When it comes to Nate & Al's, I wouldn't say never go, but I wouldn't expect much bang for your buck -- or in the case of the pastrami sandwich, your 27-bucks.

Cool deli. Food was good but pricey (LA prices). Bit of a wait but I mean what can you expect from a restaurant on Father's Day. Nice seating on the outside. Great people watching.

Conveniently located near UCLA, came here for early dinner with my baby Bruin. This place is a foodies paradise. Breakfast options are served all day, which is perfect for me because who likes the flexibility of ordering a lox bagel anytime the craving hits. Also a lot of delicious options for pastries, pies, and treats. I love that this place gives you a pickle plate. My favorite were the pickle chips. I could eat those all day. I ordered a matzo ball soup with chicken and bagel chips. Definitely amazing and the perfect dinner that leaves your belly warm on a cold winter day. The service here is excellent, prices are reasonable, portions are big, plenty of seating options, and parking is nearby at the parking garage. Highly recommend the coffee cake. Definitely hits the spot paired with coffee. I also ordered sliced rye bread to go. I definitely recommend ordered 1/2 a loaf unless you have a big family or a gathered then order the whole loaf. Also recommend putting it in the fridge if you need it to last longer. Overall, this place is amazing and I look forward to my next visit!

Had Saturday lunch with my UCLA-student son. What a fun spot! We were seated quickly, though it was busy. We have been checking off old-school Jewish-style delis around the greater LA area, so Nate'n Al's was a natural choice. Normally, I get a pastrami sandwich, but my wife wanted to share a sandwich and you guessed it--turkey. Don't get me wrong, it was a good turkey sandwich, but not a pastrami sandwich. My son ordered the pastrami, and it was excellent. I shared the matzo ball soup with my wife, which was very good. The pickle platter on the table was a nice touch, and the shoestring fries on the side were a winner. I thought the service was quite good, especially for such a busy place. Next time, I am going straight for the pastrami. Love Nate'n Al's. 5 stars.

Iconic classic deli. The staff is friendly, the kind that somehow knows your order before you even open the menu. Pastrami on rye? Always solid. Matzo ball soup with bagel chips? Mandatory. The outside patio is perfect for people watching, and their bagels, lox, whitefish, and all the deli goodies are fresh and ready for breakfast, whether you're solo or with friends.

Excellent! I got the "New York", which is Pastrami, Cole Slaw, and Russian dressing on Rye, with some potato salad. I can't say enough good about this!! Great pastrami, great rye, and the potato salad was on point for sure (not something you can say very often). I'll be back!!

You can never go wrong with an old school deli that serves the classics with a smile. When you walk in, the dining room decor immediately transports you to another time...the pristine wood paneling and vinyl upholstery are a throwback to when menus weren't fussy and the food was fabulous. We shared potato latkes and chicken pot pie pockets and our server, Daniel, immediately advised us that the pot pie pockets would "take a little longer. Is that okay??" You'd better believe it was okay, because those babies were flaming hot and tasted amazing. The potato latkes were perfectly crisp on the outside and so, so good. Great food is definitely worth waiting for! 10/10 definitely recommend!

Our food was delicious! We had (of course!) matzoh ball soup, chicken noodle soup, chopped liver sandwich, roast beef sandwich, chicken pot pie and Nova salmon on bagel with the works .. followed by rugelah, chocolate cream pie, banana cream pie and the black/white cookie. SOOO delicious. We were seated pretty quickly on a packed Christmas Day and our meals came in a very timely manner. Our server was Deborah... very nice and professional. Even though she was at the end of her shift on a VERY busy day she maintained her cool and total service to our table. Very clean with a dedicated staff. We had a worthy experience which is deserving of a 5 star review.

Great spot for lunch! It has a fun nostalgic vibe and a menu full of deli classics. Love their latkes, soups, and whitefish salad. Easy to get in and out too.

The tradition deli in the hart of Rodeo Drive. You can find a good place to eat and not pay a fortune. The food is the delicious and comfort meal, nice service, and ambience is the family place , you can see the customers know each other. My family from Arkansas enjoyed it. After, you can visit The Brainwashed museum.

I ordered the Toscana which came with Prosciutto, basil almond pesto, stracciatella cheese, tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil and my cousin ordered the Tacchino which had House-made roasted turkey, avocado aioll, stracciatella cheese, toasted almonds, tomatoes, baby arugula with no crispy onions. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, down to the olive oil. The combination of flavors is perfection. I'm excited to keep trying their sandwiches. I need to remind myself to visit on a Thursday so I can try their steak sandwich. Cynthia was as sweet as before. She even treated us to a yummy chocolate dessert.

It was VERY close! The bread is excellent and the cheese and meat are clearly selected with INCREDIBLE intention. The only problem is that the bread is huge and has a taste unto itself that is really good! Why a problem? Because the cheese was not sharp enough to penetrate the bread flavor and the meat was not deep enough to do the same. This was a (delicious) bread first sandwich. I like my sandwiches to be ingredient forward-facing. This is a me thing. You may absolutely adore this place. My friends got the tuna and I wish I had got that. So fresh and light. With the price, I didn't feel like asking for a "re-do," but I chose wrong haha I will try this place again and get something with less bread dominance. This is still 9.2/10 sandwich....I just happen to eat 30+ sandwiches at restaurants every year. The pasta? Super good! There were 4 of us so I stole some bites. Definitely try if you aren't use to AUTHENTIC European sandwiches. You're in for a treat.

At about 10:45am, it was busy but not crazy crowded, so we were seated immediately by a happy, friendly teen who may have been a family member or just someone they've taken under their wing. Either way, the youthful greeting helps establish that family feeling that's always relaxing. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and sliced sturgeon, which is a serious treat here in Los Angeles, where hardly any place carries sturgeon. The portion was ample, the fish was fresh, moist and tasty, and it made for a very satisfying (and filling) breakfast. It should also be stated that this hard-to-find dish is always somewhat pricey, but at $25, Factor's is practically a bargain, and a full $9 CHEAPER than Art's in Studio City. My wife opted for eggs with baked salmon on the side -- again, fresh and generous, and very tasty. And again, $10 cheaper than at Art's. I mention the prices simply because eating a good deli breakfast has become more of a luxury these days, and finding a place that delivers top-notch food and service with less of a slam to the wallet makes a difference. If you haven't been to Factor's, or haven't been in a while, it's time to discover (or rediscover) a great deli serving great food.
