I would give 0 stars if I could. I tried to order for pick up and I was told the wait was 45 minutes but they said to come in and order at the deli if I wanted it quicker. I walked in as we want food sooner and the restaurant is empty (dinner time) so that is absolutely ridiculous. Then as I start to order they tell me no kids orders to go so I have to get large portions that are more expensive for kids who are sick and can't come in to the restaurant. Bad customer service all around. I recommend going elsewhere. There are plenty of better delis in the area and the customer service is elsewhere too. Sad because I used to come every weekend for breakfast but will no longer do that after this aweful experience. Also just got home and they forgot my soup. This place is the worst. read more

Nate'n Al Delicatessen is a beloved vintage that will last against the ever-changing amateurs of Beverly Hills. It's a classic deli that's utterly charming and devoted to their business. It feels dated in the best way possible. Everyone around you has been here probably every past Sunday for a decade and it makes sense why they keep coming back. The no-bullshit servers, the giant sandwiches and the nostalgic decor keeps it a popular place. Not that Nate'n Al's needs legitimizing but I saw Jessica Alba here my first time. To think that she braved the no reservations policy (unless they make an exception for her but I can't see that happening with this staff) to sit in an open area in a booth with her husband and children, this place must be pretty special to her and a lot of other people. The food is solid. I prefer the sandwiches over the omelette (which are a bit heavy for me - a few bites in, you realize there's just a two-inch layer of congealed cheese in there). I love the Hollywood and the Reuben. It's a monstrosity of a sandwich for one person to finish but save for a few bites of bread, I did it. The hash browns are crispy and delicious. I'm not a fan of their free dill pickles - there's a really strange aftertaste that I've noticed other people mention too. But it's free so who am I to complain? It's not a life-changing experience. The food is above average and consistently at that standard. It's dependable and safe. It's a place that encourages repeat business, especially if you're thinking of where to take Grandma for brunch. read more

Outside seating only right now, end of June. My friend and I went for brunch Sunday. Split a breakfast burrito, latkes, and pancakes. Wasn't sure about ordering a breakfast burrito from a deli but it was delicious. Latkes were large and very thick but crisp outside and good. Pancakes were some of the best I have had in a while. They smelled fantastic, were perfectly cooked and served with clarified butter and maple syrup. Coffee was served in to go cups and unremarkable. Service was pretty good. You order at counter and it's brought to you. The lady at the counter was friendly. We also got black and white cookies to go and they were so good. Huge and soft. read more

Just received terrible service. Called in a phone order and was told my order wasn't received, even though I spoke to someone who said it would be half an hour. When I told them I spoke to someone I was told I couldn't be helped and to go to the counter. Stood at the counter for 5 minutes with no one acknowledging that I was waiting. I do not mind waiting if I am told I will be helped soon. There are lots of delis in la, especially in this area. Providing good customer service is not hard. read more

I've loved going to Nate n Al for over 30 yrs. I had been away for a few years due to job relocation to the Silicon Valley. Recently, I was back in Beverly Hills and had just enough time to squeeze in a visit. I was eager for a great roast beef sandwich as I had had many times before. I had to take my food "to go" due to time limitations, so didn't access my food until 45 minutes later. When I did, my roast beef sandwich was so disappointing that I disposed of most of it. The beef was more grizzle than meat and had minimal taste. The bread appeared to have been nearly ends, so sandwich was very small due to the bread slices also being small in size. Hopefully this was a flute and not what others are also experiencing. Expensive sandwich with zero satisfaction for me this time. However, many great memories of the good old days. read more

It's a throwback! When I read the "complaint" on Yelp about the sticky table tops I just knew we had to go. And we were not disappointed: this Jewish deli restaurant is the real deal. Almost expected to see Harry and Sally show up. The pastrami sandwich with Russian and coleslaw --a half order--filled the plate. The Reuben was a bit more subdued than what I have had in New York however was delicious. The onion rings and fries were excellent and don't forget the plate of pickles which included my favorite "half sours." My wife and daughter prevailed in me not to order the matzoh ball soup ("How much can you eat Daddy?"). But what we saw others consume had large matzoh balls with plenty of soup. And also disappointed I couldn't try the knishes, another family favorite. And let's not forget the bagels and lox: another large plate being consumed by a lady in the booth next to ours had a huge pile of lox that was larger than she was and looked delicious, bite by bite. So cheers to Nate and Al's for preserving a fading tradition--at least one that is fading in the parts of county where I live and travel. And thanks to our server Ramiro who was attentive to us throughout our excursion into the wonderful decadence of corned beef and pastrami. Can't wait to come back. Be careful ordering takeout. Thought I'd ordered chicken soup with egg noodles, since that's how it is described on the menu. When I opened the container I discovered... chicken broth. A $6 bowl of chicken broth. Apparently, if you want anything IN the broth, including the aforementioned advertised noodles, you need to tell them - which would be fine, if there were any instructions to that effect on the menu. It was good broth, though. The same is true of the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches I ordered. Both came dry. Fortunately I have mustard. At $16 per sandwich I guess I expected something more that meat between two pieces of dry bread. The sandwiches were good though, once I finished making them. Doubt I'll be returning. Over $40 for two dry sandwiches and some broth is more than a little ridiculous. Gets two stars because the 3 ingredients I got (broth, meat, bread) were quality ingredients, at least. read more

My husband requested a good Jewish deli for his birthday dinner. Yelp recommended Nate'n Al's so we thought we'd give it a try since we were going to be in the area. My daughter wanted a brisket dip but they were out of rolls so she settled for a burger. My husband's pastrami sandwich "wasn't that satisfying ". As for me, the waitress asked if I'd like my corned beef lean, which I did. My corned beef was the fattiest I've ever had. I was really disappointed that night, and even more so when I opened the second half for lunch (see picture). The fat was embedded in each slice rather than on the edge. read more

An always welcome, nice nosh in Los Angeles. Not my favorite deli in the world, but really one of the only choices in LA. The staff is what you'd expect in attitude, which is positively delightful, and to think of the stories they may have! I was told if you want a more indulgent corned beef sandwich, you have to ask for it juicy, or moist. I can't recall now. But in essence, it's like asking for the fat-on when you go to Katz's in the city. One note worthy of mention, the sandwich's here are not large, and the prices reflect their size. The food is always good, however we were disappointed in our COVID experience. You order your food at a table set up by the front door. You pay for your food before it is delivered. You sit down at an outside table if one is available. Otherwise you wait in line for one to become available. I wanted iced coffee with non- dairy milk. THEY HAVE NO NON-DAIRY MILK! I asked the manager why that was and the answer was " we're always behind things". We have eaten at EVERY restaurant in Beverly Hills over the many years we have lived here. Even the Italian restaurants ,who did not have non- dairy milk for quite a while, now have non-dairy milk . Nate 'n Al's can be very arrogant and the new owners will have to up their game if they are going to succeed in this tough town. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Our order, however, was not correct. We ordered eggs with a bagel. We were charged for and received an extra bagel and cream cheese. Not easy to price adjust when you've paid in advance, so we did not have it taken off of the bill. All in all, we are not rushing back. read more

Nate n' Al is a great little deli in the middle of Beverly Hills. You could go to Rodeo Drive to buy a designer purse or some $200 yoga pants, and completely miss it if you didn't know any better. Well, now you know better, so there's no excuse. Nate n' Al's hearkens back to the old Beverly Hills that I used to know. I came here years and years ago. This was "our spot" every Tuesday before our weekly card game and we loved it. It was also where you went to breakfast or lunch when you had the time. I came back the other day, after a forty years, and it seems like nothing has changed! The Mazoh Ball Soup is still the same. The Matzoh Brie is still the same (that's fried matzoh to the uninitiated, and I recommend you try it). Even the pickles are still the same. This is a place where you go to see and be seen. It's the kind of place where the diamonds mix it up with the clay. Business people come on their lunch breaks. Other kinds of people bring their grandparents. I don't think you can bring your little dogs, which is probably why we haven't see the Paris Hiltons of the world in there. But that's probably for the best. If you want my advice, bring the whole family. They have all the comforts of Jewish food and reasonable choices if you want to keep your LA figure, too. What's not to love? read more

Stumbled upon Nate'n Al Delicatessen while in the Beverly Hills area during our most recent vacation. Walking along Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills drive with our pup, we saw that Nate'n Al Delicatessen had a patio and seemed to be dog friendly. We saw that seating inside was quite busy, so we approached a waitress outside (later identified as Cherie by our receipt) who told us we could grab a seat and pointed to a table. She handed us menus and we overlooked them. We decided to share a Pastrami sandwich with Onion Rings. The food was decent however the service was atrocious. Given the circumstances, it made the whole experience disgusting and I believe it even affected our taste buds. A table next to us had to ask twice for their pickles which eventually Cherie brought. They smelled wonderful and I asked Cherie what they were. She said there are two kinds and I asked if I could try both of them. Cherie said sure however never brought them out nor even remembered. Throughout our meal we had to hear Cherie complain to her fellow colleagues about the way the restaurant was being ran and how she would be overwhelmed with how changes would burden her. Being a former retail employee, employees should never bad mouth their fellow colleagues within ear shot of patrons or even on employer premises. This seemed to prove that Cherie seemed to care more about her issues with her colleagues more than providing service to her customers (e.g. Filling up coffee, getting orders right, giving good customer service). Given this experience, I don't think the "pro" for the food taste outweighs the "con" for our negative waitress. We wouldn't return even if it was the only thing open. read more

If I had a "bubbee", she'd be just like the host, or the waitress, or the woman who rang me up for my loaf of rye, at Nate 'n Al's - somewhat a landmark Jewish Deli, and just about the only non-pretentious joint that exists on North Beverly Drive. Originally famous for their delicious loaves of corn rye bread, (literally their "bread and butter"), Nate 'n Al's also makes all your Jewish deli favorites like latkes, knishes, pastrami, and my favorite snack - the most delectable combination of a lox and cream cheese bagel you'll find in these parts. I'm a firm believer that you can't go wrong with anything on that laundry list of sandwiches there, especially the "New York" (hot pastrami + cole slaw) or its cousin, the "Hollywood" (corned beef + cole slaw), both ordered with an extra side of Russian dressing. Their pastrami is like a gold standard for these parts, and after one bite you'll know you're sitting in a real deli. They also make a great matzo ball soup, which is PERFECT on a rainy day (or when you've got a cold). I'll usually order that with the stuffed cabbage and "Kasha Varnishkas" (hot bowtie pasta with buckweat), which is the most perfect cold-weather meal. For breakfast, you can't go wrong with the fluffy, but crispy potato pancakes. This is absolutely the best with apple sauce and extra sour cream. Overall, I love Nate 'n Al's! In business for almost 60 years, you'll find that nothing has changed much. Save for the occasional producer, Steven Spielberg, or some Entourage cast member dining in at lunchtime, it's probably the last real and non-pretentious place you'll find in Beverly Hills. read more

"Nate 'n Al's has killed more Jews than the Holocaust!" That's the standard response I get from an old time and irascible Jewish photographer friend of mine every time I mention this place. I used to think, "Wow, is the food really that bad?". On the contrary, the food is that good. But goodness comes at a price. And that price is cholesterol. Enough, apparently, to achieve what Auschwitz failed to do. Today I faced off against their chopped liver sandwich. A smooth, creamy chop, livery, almost pate in consistency, piled high on rye. One bite and I remember why I love this place. It reminds me of the first time I stepped into a Jewish deli -- in fact this very deli -- and discovered a whole culture who enjoyed the delicacy of offal as much as I did. It made me forget, for a moment, what my doctor had told me just a week earlier at my annual check-up. "Everything is good but I'd watch your cholesterol". Cholesterol schmolesterol. As I made indecipherable noises of satisfaction, the lady in the next booth looked over and asked in a thick East Coast accent, confused, "Are you Jewish?" "Ish", I replied. "Jew-ish." read more

First time here...awesome local deli that has been in the same location 65 years. Locals come here and hang out...food was fantastic...I had the lox, eggs and onions and it was excellent!
