This used to be one of my favorite Thai places, but yet this time around I was EXTREMELY disappointed! I called ahead of time around 8:15 to ensure it was okay to come in 10 minutes to enjoy dinner there and at first I was told no. The person who answered the phone seemed confused and then asked how many people it would be. It was only three people, which we all mainly knew what we wanted due to us ordering from there many times. To our surprise the menu was complete changed and was SUPER small! While eating we were rushed, and were told many times that they were closing which was very uncomfortable since we did not know what that was supposed to mean. But eventually at 9:09 we were asked to leave. They close at 9:00 and couldn't allow us to stay for over 10 minutes? Also, the chicken in our meals tasted odd and made us all feel sick! read more

For a quick Thai lunch, this place will do, except for the "quick" part. The lunch specials are very reasonably priced, and all come with a bowl of soup and choice of egg roll, spring roll, or cucumber salad. But you wait forever for your meal. Disappointing. The Panang curry was greasy, tasted like peanut butter and the veggies were mushy. Cucumber salad was overly sweet. I used to frequent Nathan's but lately it hasn't been as good. Today we ordered Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew and Basil Fried Rice. The chicken in the Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew had tasted like the chicken had been reheated repeatedly. It was hard, dry and had an 'off' taste to it. Also, the Pad Se Ew was bland. The food is authentic.. portions are large which is a plus. The good thing we liked was the flavours... we tried the red curry pad thai and drunken nodles... they were all grt.. best way to enjoy them wud b to have then hot... else, they come out as a lil bland.... A must try there is tom yum soup... worth the money..... I ordered the peppered steak for lunch and what I received was about 10 pieces of beef In a very watery gravy sauce with no season or spices. The meal was very blah. The vegetables were very soggy almost as if they've been sitting in a sauce for a long time. I also had an egg roll which was burnt on the outside but soggy on the inside. Again, very little flavor. I ordered Nathan's pad thai, which comes with both chicken and shrimp. As I was eating, I started finding shrimp tails in the dish. At first I thought they had come off from the shrimp in the dish but I found more tails than there were shrimp. I told the waitress and she apologized and told me that they were cooking two orders at once and that's why there were shrimp tails in my pad thai. Yuck! When we got the bill they had the nerve to charge us 50% for the dish, claiming that it was half eaten. I used to frequent Nathan's but after finding shrimp tails in my dish and being charged for it I will never go back. Eat at your own risk! read more

Overall, the food is very good and I'd recommend. I've tried a bunch of things on the menu (main entrees, apps, and soups). I usually get it to-go. I would give it 3 and a half stars if i could, but i rounded up. Food here has always been good, and at lunch you get a cup of soup with your meal. It is nice that they have the 6 levels of spice you can order for your dish. Never really been blown away by anything i have had here, but never been disappointed either. Bad service and yucky food. Well, this is the first time we dined in there just because we saw the good reviews here and wanna have a try. We are big fan of thai cuisine and unfortunately we didn't have same pleasant experience there as others did. The grilled pork was horrible,was not even fully cooked and smelled fishy. This is the worst appetizer I've ever ordered in all thai restaurants where we had been. The chicken in the pai thai was way too dry and tasted like pork liver. The baisil leaves dish with beef is no special at all. The size is small and I only can find 4 or 5 pieces of beef in the dish. With only 2 table being seated other than us, they didn't remeber to serve us with drinks. If this restaurant was open in Thailand, I bet it should have already been out of business long long ago. read more

I've been trying out various lunch places in the Elmhurst area and this has been my best find. Not only if the food amazing, but the portion sizes are huge. Even though a lunch combo costs between $7-10, I can get two lunches out of that one serving, so it's not a terrible deal. Lunch combo comes with soup and a choice of side, plus your entree. My daughter and I went to this restaurant today for the first and last time. Our meals were not very good. Her shrimp was so fishy she literally spit it out and my chicken had such a strong poultry taste and was so rubbery. We ate a few bites and told the waitress our meals were not good and she gave us our check without talking to a manager or asking if we wanted something else. Looks like they only gave me half an order of the pad siew, a lot of chicken but hardly any noodles. I literally had to search for the noodles. Garlic sauce was bland. It was virtually tasteless and although I asked for "10" heat it might have been a "3" by my standards. I ended up at Nathan's Noodles because I was craving some pad thai and all of the places in Forest Park/Oak Park were closed on Mondays. We dined in (and had the place to ourselves). The decor/set-up was very diner-like. The woman serving us was very polite. We ordered the spring rolls, which were nothing special. I got the pad thai with tofu, which satisfied my craving and was delicious, but not the best I have ever had. It was a decent meal, and was also decently priced: our bill was around $30 for three entrees and an appetizer.
