When we were ready to leave, we retrieved and drove our cars ourselves, as they had parked the cars right outside the restaurant. We left some tips to the valet attendant, Edgar, who was also the owner of Luxury Valet and Shuttle. He counted the money in front of us and became rude and started complaining about the amount we had tipped. We explained that was the only cash we had on us at the time, but he continued to complain. He then started speaking in Spanish in a hostile manner, apparently assuming that we would not understand him. However, my husband understands Spanish. I feel that, regardless of whether the valet service is complimentary, a service provider should never complain about the amount of a tip or pressure customers to give more. A tip is discretionary, and customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable because of the amount they give. On the other hand, the lady who actually parked our cars at arrival was extremely professional and courteous. She was even apologetic about the owner's behavior. A special shout-out to her for handling the situation so professionally.
