Maybe our server just sucked. I'm really not sure. Here's what happened. We ordered cheese curds that come with mustard and ranch. When they were dropped at the table by the food runner. The ranch was missing and we didn't like the mustard. We sat there for a good 15 minutes before our server came back to check on us. She asked how we were doing and I said, "this is supposed to come with ranch, right?" And she said that she could grab some. The problem is that they were cold at this point so I said that. She simply said "ok." Did not offer to make them fresh. Then our entrees were dropped at the table. I ordered the peanut crusted trout. It was good and the mashed potatoes but my Brussel sprouts were cold. My aunt ordered the fish and chips. Fish was good. Her fries were cold right when they were dropped at the table. Again we told our server and her reply was "ok." When the bill came we were charged full price for everything. They ended up crediting our meal but it was such a bad experience so I don't recommend it. read more

Fantastic place in the middle of Cherokee. The food was excellent with a variety on the menu. My husband had the special which was grilled chicken, rice and green beans. He says it was perfectly seasoned. The Native Brew whiskey is very good. I had several of their beers and all were excellent. We stopped one afternoon and had appetizers. You have to try the deep-fried deviled eggs with bacon jam. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Cherokee. read more

Came over from Asheville to enjoy the excellent production of Dracula at the Mountainside Theater. We had no desire to get tangled up in Harrah's crowd for pre-show meal. I am thankful that there is a rare very good option in downtown Cherokee proper not far from the show. We started with a beer flight, and then each got our own pint. My IPA loving companions were completely satisfied with their Smoky Haze and Flaming Arrow IPAs, while I thoroughly enjoyed the Native Girl Pale Ale. The Warrior Blonde Ale was palatable but a little less distinctive. We shared two appetizers the "Say What" fried deviled eggs with bacon jam and the Brewhaus Nachos. While both were very good, neither blew me away. All the generously portioned entrées on the other hand, deserve a solid A. Fishin Hole - A blackened catfish served distinctive very yellow rice (This had to have corn in it) and well-seasoned broccoli. Pecan Crusted Trout - A very rich dish of peanut crusted trout covered with a seasoned creamy shrimp sauce. The fried Brussels sprouts were the star side for this item but the mashed were not bad at all. Blackened Shrimp Fettucine was richly flavorful without a face punch of Cajun spices. The service was spot on. Kind greeting at the door. Very friendly local server who was very attentive. We didn't have to wait long for the bill, and we left with 30 minutes to spare before the show. Loved the outside seating and the super cool new interior. I would make a point to go here the next time I cross the Qualla Boundary. read more

Sometimes in life you just get lucky and wander into a wonderful experience. This was the case with Native Brews Tap & Grill while visiting Cherokee, NC on a "siblings weekend getaway" with my two sisters. I typically spend time researching local restaurants when I travel, but decided to leave this one to chance and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by friendly, smiling faces and shown immediately to a high top table in the bar area. Within moments, we were greeted by our server Jamie and it only took moments to realize that this was going to be a pleasant experience. Jamie was incredibly friendly and provided suggestions and answers to all of our questions. She seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and upon request made some recommendations about her favorite dishes. I will admit that her enthusiasm for the food influenced our orders and left us hoping that the meal would live up to the hype that she provided. Fortunately, everything that Jamie told us turned out to be true! The Peanut Crusted Trout is one of the most flavorful and decadent seafood dishes I have ever enjoyed. After Jamie told us about it, I chose it without reading the full description on the menu so I was surprised when I was greeted by a plate heaping with not only a very large piece of trout, but also topped with a rich looking shrimp Florentine cream sauce accompanied with a huge helping of fried Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. If you like bland, dry food this dish is not for you. It is literally loaded with different tastes and textures that all complement each other. Chef Kevin, who we were fortunate enough to meet when he stopped by to check on our table, has crafted this award winning dish that would hold its own in any of the foodie cities that I've enjoyed across the country. In my mind, this dish is not to be missed if you're coming through (or anywhere near) Cherokee, NC. One of Jamie's other recommendations was the Country Fried Steak. My sister chose this dish and raved about the flavors of the seasoning and the pepper gravy, while noting that the quality of the meat was outstanding. She would not typically choose this dish, but chose to follow our server's direction and she was glad that she did. My other sister went with a BYO Burger and said it was juicy and tasty and was cooked exactly as she ordered it, but after trying a sampling of the Country Fried Steak she saved most of her appetite to share with our sister and they both agreed that it was exceptional dish. The serving portions on our entrees were more than generous and none of us were able to completely finish our meals. So we politely declined when Jamie stopped by to ask us if we had saved room for dessert. Of course we hadn't, but Jamie did it again when she told us about the homemade cheesecakes and the special preparation that goes into each one to make them a unique experience. We ignored our full bellies and decided to extend this magical food experience by ordering two different slices to taste. Once again, we were glad that we chose to listen to our server as we sampled some of the best homemade cheesecake we've ever had. This review is already long and I realize that I neglected to mention the Flaming Arrow IPA that I tried (great hops, delicious) and I didn't give enough attention to the Brussels Sprouts (seasoned to perfection), but I didn't want to close without making one final mention of the staff at Native Brews. Everyone that we interacted with was exceptional. I've already raved about Jamie - she's an amazing representative for this place and I would hire her in a heartbeat. But Chef Kevin Conrad was also kind enough to chat with us at length and answer our questions as we gushed over his food. From the hostess to the table busser, everyone was smiling and interactive during our entire visit. We spent the rest of the evening talking about how great our experience was and we all agreed that we would be back with our families when we return to Cherokee! read more

I would say that the service, the food and the chef all deserve 5 stars, however the policies of the owner and the Cherokee tribe in general (we looked up the ADA rules for the tribe) are atrocious. We arrived with friends who have a certified service dog and we were required to sit outside in the cold to "accommodate" the dog. We were cold, the dog got cold, the food got cold and what could have been an awesome afternoon was ruined by this outdated antiquated discriminatory policy. Under these provisions of the nation, the business owners of any business on the reservation are allowed to blatently discriminate against people with disabilities. We will not be giving our money to the tribe again until this gets resolved. What a beautiful place to have such a bad experience. read more

Yowsa this food was amazing! The Ba Da Boom shrimp was gorgous. I don't even like cole slaw, but the "secret sauce" was crazy good. The catfish was cooked to perfection, and that sauce was also outrageously delicious. Same with the veggies: cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bite, seasoned with maybe the best flavor I've ever tasted in a green. My son had the Bourbonzola burger, and loved it. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We are here visiting from NY & a gentleman from a store we were in recommended Native Brews and stated how great their meatloaf was. So we figured we would try the place. Our waitress Carolyn (who was fantastic) recommended the fried pork chop which my boyfriend ordered and I ordered the rib eye. My steak was done to perfection. With that being said let me tell you about the fried pork chop (I am not a fan of pork chops but my boyfriend said you MUST taste this, which I did. All I can say is I have NEVER had something make my mouth happy like this did!) My boyfriend who is a big foodie said not only was this the best pork chop he has ever eaten it was in his top 5 meals of his whole life. We told Carolyn how much we loved the food and next thing I know Chef Reuben came out to thank us for the compliment. We proceeded to have a wonderful conversation with him. In NY I run a catering hall and am very selective in what I praise. We spoke about that and the next thing we knew he asked if we would taste something he was playing with for the menu (I do not want to say what it was and ruin his surprise for his lucky patrons). Needless to say it was off the chart delicious! We are here for 8 days and have been there twice already and are planning on going one more time before we leave. Hands down, this is the best place to eat in Cherokee. The atmosphere is great, you have gorgeous mountain views from the patio, and there are a ton of fun outdoor games like tic tac toe, jenga, checkers, and a few others. It's a great place to hang out, especially for families with young kids. The food is great, especially the beer. I have never liked beer, but I loved the beer at this restaurant. The mixed drinks and burgers were great too. Portions were huge and prices were affordable. I will definitely be eating here again. read more

This place exceeded expectations! Child friendly, pretty good beer brewed onsite. Food was good to outstanding. We had the soft pretzel appetizer and the chips. The chips were tasty and homemade and the pretzel was huge! For entrees we had the house special burger, chopped salad and the pecan encrusted trout. That trout was truly outstanding, a large filet, and well presented. I have not had trout better anywhere (maybe at home) and I am pretty picky when it comes to seafood. The burger was reported as excellent and although the chopped salad wasn't the best I have had, it was more than passable. Add in exceptional and friendly service in a spacious and comfortable setting - this place is a winner. read more

Sitting outside under the ample shade was refreshing and allowed my toddler to run around in their open area (I believe used for bags as they did set some up as we were wrapping up). I really enjoyed the Warrior burger with chips and had a flight of brews. The Hard Lemonade wasn't as harsh as another popular name brand making it quite enjoyable on the hot day. The Vanilla Spiced Ale was my favorite, tasted like a cream soda! This place was a gem we found by accident as we traveled from Gatlinburg to take a ride in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My family and I had a great experience here last weekend! Everyone was so friendly and we had excellent service. This place is top notch all the way from the very athletically pleasing atmosphere to the delectable menu selections to the beverage offerings! We ate out on the patio and played cornhole between our appetizer of deep fried deviled eggs with bacon jam and our selection of entrees. The deep fried deviled eggs are sooo good and the bacon jam is just the thing to take them to the next level. My son had the country fried steak and it was huge, tender, and savory! My husband and I tried two different burgers, the Bourbonzola and the Warrior, and both were amazing! Our young son had the kids hot dog and even it was really good and also huge!
