Visited during the All-Star break and it was a fun experience overall. The ambiance was actually a lot nicer than I expected, with a more upscale feel and some really cool NBA memorabilia on display. I also happened to come on the day the NBA trophy was in town, which was a nice bonus. For food, I ordered the Memphis Crispy Chicken sandwich and it was just okay--nothing particularly memorable. The fries were a bit dry and on the smaller side. I also tried the pear and prosciutto pizza, which ended up being the better choice and felt like more bang for your buck. Service was also speedy and hostesses were nice. I'd come back again for the atmosphere and the vibes, especially to grab a drink or two. Overall we really loved our experience! My bf is a big NBA fan and we enjoyed walking around to look at all of the paraphernalia. As for food, we got the shrimp ceviche to start (pretty good and refreshing, although the chips were a little stale). My bf got the Memphis crispy chicken sandwich and LOVED it (he upgraded the fries to poutine fries for $6 which were also not bad), and I got the fish and chips. Other reviews were not kidding when they said the fish and chips were enough for two lol. I thought it was okay, but I also have never had fish and chips, and realized all-fried everything maybe just isn't my thing haha. Our visit was on a hot Saturday afternoon around 3p.m. When we entered, we were greeted promptly by a friendly staff who took us to a nice seating area by the windows. Our waitress was a young friendly lady who brought us water and the menu. We orderered a Kung Pao Chicken Bowl, Greek Fries and Passion Fruit Spritz. All the items were delicious- the drink was cold and refreshing, the fries were hot and crispy, and the bowl was fresh and the portion size was a sufficient amount in comparison to the price. Our waitress came by to check-in on us around the middle of our meal. We were happy to be in a place that was nice and quiet. I really enjoyed my experience here! We came for the Kings vs Warriors game 6 playoffs and the atmosphere was so lively! We came about 30 minutes before the game started and were able to get a table for five without a reservation. The best part was that they didn't rush us out at all and we were able to stay and watch the whole game without a time limit. The food here was definitely better than regular bar food. I had garlic truffle parm fries, wings to share, Memphis crispy chicken sandwich and raspberry Greek yogurt cheesecake. The sandwich was so flavourful and the cheesecake was prefectly tart and sweet. I came here once during the summer time with my baby and partner. We got seated after a bit of a wait which was fine since it was a walk in and we didn't have reservations. We got a corner table by the big window which we appreciated since we could put our stroller and have a high seat as well. Our waiter was nice but seemed a bit slow. I got the chimichurri steak salad and he got the bacon burger. I instantly regret my decision after I take a bite of his delicious burger, fries were seasoned well and crispy just how I like it. The salad was okay in comparison to the burger. I would give this place a solid 4 stars. We came back a second time on a Thursday night around 7:30pm. We did a walk in again and got seated at the back and we got a high chair as well. We sat there looking at the menu and decided on what to order... 15 minutes passed by and no one looked our way or even brought us water. We started to look for other restaurant options at this point since no one seemed to care that they had customers at the back. We waited another 5 minutes and got up and left. While we were looking at the menu, my partner spotted the manager a tall, thin guy eating fries off a plate while walking into the kitchen, that's something that should be done behind closed doors it doesn't seem professional. 3.5? Visited the Courtside Restaurant pre-opening, during the family & friends event, so we were some of the first to give the dishes a try. First, the location for something this big (being correlated with the NBA and all) is a bit odd if you ask me, located next to the water but underneath a condominium (I think?) and next to a big parking lot. For apps, we chose the kung pao lettuce wrap and we shared the chimichurri steak salad. The lettuce wraps were a recommendation from our friend that invited us, and they were great; I feel like it's a dish I might expect to see at a Moxies or something, to be honest. The chimichurri steak salad was interesting, I did enjoy the flavour of the chimichurri and the salad overall, but if I had ordered it as my main I would've been very disappointed. For mains, my partner chose the open-faced brisket burger and I had the steak. We should've interpreted this from the title but the burger only had the bottom bun (hence, open-faced - maybe we're just dumb). He said he really enjoyed the flavour of the burger but he was just so confused on how to eat it lol. I understand the concept but I think they should still give the top bun. The steak was good, I have no complaints there. I swapped the side of veggies and mashed potato for a caesar salad, and it was fine but I think they should add bacon bits to the caesar. Finally, my favourite part was dessert. We had the raspberry greek yogurt cheesecake. It does not taste anything like cheesecake, it's much more like a regular cake, in fact, it almost tastes like a really moist red velvet cake. It was really yummy regardless, just don't go into it hoping for traditional cheesecake. I will say, our server was amazing, super friendly and attentive. To say I am disappointed is an understatement given this is a "NBA Courtside restaurant". The name itself created hypes that they did not live up to, unfortunately. We were a party of 6 and made a reservation a week ahead. We were seated promptly, at least that part is good. We ordered the "Berbere Spiced Grilled Chicken" which had a little basketball sign next to it on the menu indicating it is certified / designed by the top chef Canada. Yes the chicken is moist, it is also small portioned for $36 and the flavor is simply quite bland. If you have ever made chicken homemade with enough spices and optimal heat during cooking, you will get a better outcome than this. One of our guests ordered a cocktail Old Fashioned, guess what, it was served with crushed ice... okay one might call this a first world's problem but you simply cannot serve old fashioned without a big ice sphere/cube and charge you $15. On top of it, it was watered down and we had to send it back. Other guests of the party ordered fish and chips, wings, and the swordfish. Nothing magical is going on. To be upfront and fair, I was here for the soft open so the food and service wasn't in tip top shape yet as my food took almost 30mins to arrive. My server however was very pleasant and gave us a tour of the whole restaurant dinning area. Food: The burger was kinda soggy as there was too much sauce and the bottom of the bun started soaking in the juices. The fries were surprisingly a let down. They look amazing but tasted stale or freezer burnt or something. Also could have probably drained the oil a little longer. NBA Courtside Restaurant was an ok experience overall. A boring layup instead of a scintillating dunk if you will lol. The food was mediocre bar food but for the price I would have expected better. The burger I had was soggy when it came out and the fries were just ok. Apparently the Ahi Tuna Stack was good but clearly not a lot of food. The Memphis Crispy Chicken sandwich was tasty I've been told but also suffered from soggy buns. In terms of ambience you would expect the place to be a wall of TVs like Real Sports, but it's pretty much the same as any other bar. If you're serious about the Raptors game I couldn't hear the play by play but they did show it on most TVs. Our waiter said the restaurant is obligated to be more NBA centric so not all of the TVs were on the game but it was fine overall. If you want to see Shaq's shoe they have it but it's really the only piece of memorabilia I found interesting. Service was really good our waiter was great and did a good job of explaining the motif of the restaurant. Overall just a regular bar with mediocre food and some cool NBA memorabilia and a NBA store to go with it (they closed the store pretty early in the night though...) I was disappointed with my pasta dish as it was a very small portion. I was shocked when the server brought it over, I thought they made a mistake. A portion fit for a child.
