We tried Nectar's Thanksgiving Prix Fixe offering tonight and it was outstanding! It included a biscuit basket, a starter (gumbo and squash soup hit the spot!), a main course (traditional Thanksgiving turkey was well cooked, and and shrimp & grits was flavorful), and dessert (perfectly cooked pecan, buttermilk and pumpkin pie). Our entrees came out a bit faster than we would've liked, but otherwise service was excellent. Our server John was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wine list; he gave great recs and helped us pick the perfect wine. All around it was excellent night, and I can't wait to come back for brunch! read more

I tried a bellini but it was not good. The juice had an odd chemical flavor so my server swapped it out for a regular Mimosa for me, which was good. Our service was 4.5 stars and food was 5 stars. New ish brunch place on the island that's definitely worth trying! They have some really unique offerings and food that's really thoughtfully made. Came here by myself the first time, then brought some friends along the second time. Really good experiences both times around. I've ordered the duck hash and the southern belly benny, although I think they changed their menu recently because the benny didn't come with fried green tomatoes (I would've definitely remembered if it did, and I definitely would not have asked them to omit them!). Both of these were really tasty, although I felt they were a bit pricey. We also tried the biscuit basket and, let me tell you, you don't want to miss this. The biscuits are delicious, and they're really unique, especially the sweet potato one. It's amazingly fibrous and it's amazing when it's warm with their house butter and honey. I most recently tired the Korean fried chicken and waffle. It was tasty, it came with kimchi on the side. I wish the chicken was a little more Korean-flavor-inspired, but the whole dish was very filling which I was really happy about. I ordered a steak and shrimp and it took the 15 minutes after the other people at my table got their food. I looked at my steak it was raw I sent it back when I got another one I tried it and it tasted raw still and I tried my shrimp and it had no flavor. I did not like would NOT RECOMMEND! I really, really, wanted to love this place because I like what they stand for but alas it wasn't meant to be. We came here for breakfast on my birthday because I wanted to try someplace new. We had the deviled eggs, eggs benedict, chicken n waffles, biscuit n gravy, sweet potato pancakes, nitro cold brew, and honey lavender latte (both not pictured). The presentation of the deviled eggs was way better than the taste. Maybe if they were served warm the flavors may have messed slightly better than they had but they were not and so they were a NO GO. The eggs benedict was tasteless. While not everyone gets the hollandaise sauce right Nectar's version is ALL THE WAY WRONG. The chicken n waffles were not the best we ever had, FAR from it. And despite all of this these items weren't even the worse items that we had, that category would fall to their SAD, SAD, version of biscuits n gravy. Very unremarkable. Soooooo... why three stars you ask... because there is no option for two and a half stars and I really enjoyed the sweet potato pancakes, honey lavender latte, and the atmosphere. And like you know they get brownie points for trying different takes on the standard breakfast items. I just wish it was good different and not bad different. read more

Very cute breakfast and lunch spot. The menu selection all looked appetizing and I commend them for their uniqueness. I will note that it seemed like they were understaffed and/or training new staff. Will explain further.. but here's what we ordered: Southern Poutine: 4/5. Very savory and the green onions were a smart and delicious touch to the dish. Donut sandwich: 3.5/5. My dish was served lukewarm. I think it would have been 4.5/5 if it was toasted or served immediately. The glaze was absolutely delicious. Eggs Benedict: 2/5. Ham was salty and the ratio portion of ham to bread, hollandaise sauce was overwhelming. All you can taste was the ham and not the other ingredients. My husband did take out the second ham but it was still too salty. Grits that came with the dish were lukewarm. We could see that there was a sign that they were training new staff but not sure why our dishes were served lukewarm. Maybe kitchen was understaffed? It also took quite a long time to get our drinks. My lavender honey latte was also lukewarm. The meals definitely could have been better but the staff were very kind. Overall 3.5/5 stars. Enjoyed dinner in the new location. We had a reservation for inside and were able to get seating on their patio which is nicely done although a little close to the road. Menu and food were delicious and reasonably priced. Our server Jon was very attentive and helpful with drinks and food service. We had to send an app back as it was cold and they not only brought a new one quickly, they removed it from the check, very gracious and accommodating. Good place to enjoy with friends. OMG, so so good! Pancakes were fluffy, eggs were cooked perfectly. My wife had the average Al omelette with a few added ingredients. Tasted fresh and was well cooked. Service was really great. My husband and I ate here this morning! It was so filling and we both finished our plates. Our server (Katelyn/Caitlin) was super kind, answered our questions, and checked on us just enough. They have a lot of coffee options as well as cocktails/mocktails and the usual juices, etc. When we called for hours the voice recording said they will be closing on 9/29. Board was amazing and the pic is of the small! The chicken salad was a fan favorite. They should make that a sandwich!! Dinners: southern chicken and waffles, duck hash, poutine and tomato hand pie. Everything except the poutine was devoured. The poutine was so salty I had to send it back. Too much gravy just overwhelmed the pork. The cheese was buried at the bottom and the fry chips were soggy. Best restaurant on HHI in my humble opinion. My husband and I ate here for brunch. He had the Southern Chicken & Waffles. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Waffle was delicious. I had the Butcher's Bowl, strips of flavorful filet over a yummy bed of rice with roasted veggies. It was amazing! I also had the salted caramel nitro cold brew, so tasty! The grits were cheesy and delicious (too bad it only came with 4 shrimp - the manager did cook an additional order to add). My sister said the salads were really good and fresh. The low country cioppino was good but there was no broth. The hush puppies were a little over done. We ordered drinks then an appetizer. We ordered our entrees which literally came out within 5 minutes. I'm all for speedy service but this was more than that. While we were eating a couple was sat at a table which we had been told was unavailable. I did let the manager know given she came by and inquired as to how we were doing. Our waitress never checked on us or offered additional drinks. We were literally in and out in less than 40 minutes. The food was decent but the overall ex really lacked. Visited the new location and was extremely impressed! Chef and staff were very attentive. The food was explained in detail to us. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Chicken pot pie soup had tender and delicious chicken. The special of crab stuffed flounder was fantastic! Smothered chicken had just the right amount of flavor. Came here at the recommendation of a friend we made on the beach and enjoyed our visit. I felt the meals were a little on the pricey end, but not unreasonable. Our server was good, friendly and efficient. We started with the biscuits which were very good. I had a fish of the day, with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts which was very good. I loved the old Nectar on the south end. I was super excited to know they were moving closer to where I am which is now mid island. I live and work by Shelter cove Marina. So of course opening day I came in excited to try Nectar and I already knew and was prepared that the previous restaurant was Lucky Rooster so I knew that it already had that dimmer look. Sure enough yes it was still dark from the previous restaurant but quickly was happy to see the two bartenders I knew from Posideon and from Lucky Beach (Emma) I wasn't to impressed then for the Ambience of the dim lights compared to the original Nectar I was used to. Anyways came back for my second time again tried it out again was happy to see a familiar face behind the bar (Adrien) again from Lucky Beach. Which I already knew he was an amazing bartender. One thing that bothered me in this visit is... Half the bar was with servers, managers, and workers that work here who was having drinks and food. I knew that because I could hear their conversations. I then asked Adrien to confirm to also let everyone know around me that I can hear your conversations. As I live and work here all of my companies I work for always have made sure we make sure the guest comes first. So if half the employees are sitting at the bar how does that open room for guest to come in? Also on days off from work we don't wanna come into an establishment and hear the workers talking about work and all. Also in my previous food and beverage jobs we was not allowed to sit at the bar. Yes maybe at the end of your shift but not like at 6-7:00PM. Anyways sorry I'm not a person to leave a bad review as I also work in the service industry. But bc I work in the service industry I also know how to keep work place professional and give our guest the first priorty. Also give that "on stage experience " when you're In front of guest. RUN...don't walk to this place! This is one of the newest additions to the SERG group and they definitely hit a home run with this farm to table concept. Everything we had was delicious and more than enough to overcome the minor issues we had with our orders. We started with the deviled eggs. We asked for the chicken crackling on the side but it was delivered with them on top. Our server offered to replace them but we opted not to and the non-pescatarians in the group went to town. We also ordered the biscuit basket. The regular biscuits were yummy, but the sweet potato biscuits were definitely the star of the show! My husband ordered the meatloaf which he said was amazing. I ordered the blue crab and grits dish. I could happily order that every time and never have to try another dish. Both of my kiddos got a generous portion of the broiled shrimp which was supposed to be served with fry chips but came with rice and beans instead. Our waiter promptly corrected the issue. We didn't get dessert, but only because we had already promised the kiddos gelato. But I can't imagine there would be any misses in that category either. We have visited the Nectar on previous trips to HHI for breakfast, happy hour late lunch at the bar and dinner and have never been disappointed! This year we spent so much time at the beach as the weather was great for mid October that we only made it for dinner one night and again where not disappointed.... Sat outside on the patio which was great and had a couple happy hour cocktails from the bar to kick off dinner. I really wanted a good salad and the Cobb salad Wes large and outstanding. A little off the beaten path from the main tourist district and the hotel we are staying at, but not too far of a drive only about a seven minute drive from the beach, but let me tell you this place is way underrated and probably on the newer end, I would imagine. We were so thankful to find this place having both a dog and an infant, and it had a perfect backdoor patio that was covered and was really a great option for what we were looking for. It was just a bonus that the food was so delicious and that everything we ordered we knew was gonna be fantastic But the star of the night really goes to whoever was bartending because the cocktails were really really better than expected and exceeded our expectations for sure I got a version of an old-fashioned. That was a little prettier and seasonal, but was one of the best I've ever had. My wife had a dirty martini that she said was absolute perfection and we also ordered a few additional cocktails that were just flawless. A really big menu I think is the only downside to this place as I think they could make it a little smaller and focus on some more unique dishes, but like I said, if they're still newer, they could use some time to develop this and really hone in on a few Creative dishes. That being said what we ordered was both delicious and pretty straightforward as I just had the steak sandwich with excellent fries, and my wife ordered the fish entrée which she said was excellent. We had a few of the starters, including the shrimp cocktail and bread service, which were both delicious and exceeded expectations For dessert. We had the banana cream pie and a dessert cocktail, which were both fantastic service was great here and nice and like I said very accommodating to our situation in particular so if you're looking for a casual yet upscale dining food experience this is your place and like I said, I think it's a little underrated at this point given it's off the beaten path would definitely return five stars read more

They offer an original menu with unique offerings. Two of our group shared Thors Hammer, which is a beef shank served on grits. Delicious! The appetizers were original and tasty: goat cheese, bread offering with a selection of spreads, and tasty wings. Drinks were also creative and reasonably priced. We truly enjoyed our early dinner.
