We came here for dinner after leaving an event in midtown earlier. The parking is $20 in the lot adjacent to the hotel - perhaps because an event at the Fox was going on. We started off with the cod fritters and they were great! It has a nice balance of spice although a little cod. The rum punch was on happy hour for $20 and is served on a wine bottle. I ordered the curry shrimp which came with 6 jumbo shrimp, rice and wilted greens (spinach). The portion size is ok but they really could give you at least 2 more shrimp for the cost. My husband ordered the curry goat. It was very good although a tad too salty. We used our passbook and they add an automatic gratuity...perhaps this is why the server wasn't great. Ok so boom...Went to Negril with a small group Saturday night: we had reservations so we were sat pretty swiftly. Inside is nice, there's 2 floors. I believe the second floor is for private parties. I went before and the Sunday brunch was held upstairs. I can't remember if I loved or just liked the brunch. Anyway, this time I ordered escovitch snapper with rice & peas. I always get a French 75 everywhere I go and the bartender made it well. Our server was so sweet and attentive (shout out to Jade). I've been here several times so I knew exactly what to order and which dishes to recommend to my family. We came with a large party of about 17 people who had never eaten here before. Negril does not make same-day reservations however we came early enough around 7:30 PM and accommodations were made for our party. We chose this restaurant because a lot of my family members are vegetarian. Negril offers a variety of meatless side items and fish entrees that they could enjoy. The lady at the front was extremely pleasant and easy to work with. Now let's get into this review! Pros: 1.The lady who greeted us at the front whom may have been the hostess went above and beyond to prepare an area for our large party. 2. The food was fabulous! I generally order the curry goat. It was exactly how I remembered . It was as good as the last time I was here , which was over a year ago. We probably ordered almost everything on the menu being that our party was so large and everyone enjoyed the food. 3. Negril is nicely decorated we enjoyed the aesthetic and the ambience. 4.My family had a really good time. The seating arrangements we're so that we all were able to sit at one table and across from each other. It was very nice and we were able to socialize the whole night. Cons: 1. After being seated it took 30 minutes before our drink and appetizer orders were taken. 2.We were told because of our large party we would have two servers however we only received one. This prolonged our food / drink orders and effected the way our food came out. With such a large party it was a mess only having one server. 3.Negril only allows up to four checks per bill ,Which isn't convenient for a large party. For whatever reason we ended up with two checks from the same server, instead of it all being on one check. It wasn't as much as a problem as it was odd.I didn't double check but I think we may have been charged gratuity twice. 4.Overall service was extremely slow. I really would've liked to give Negril ATL a five star review however due to the service which is extremely important I decided to takeoff one star. We were seated upstairs, and were pleasantly surprised to see how empty the restaurant was around 7pm on a Saturday. I ordered the oxtails and a frozen cocktail (can't remember the name) and both were delicious. My food was a bit on the warmer side, so wasn't too pleased with that, but it did taste fresh and was really good, so no biggie! My fiance and I favorite restaurant in Atlanta! The atmosphere of the area is nice, the staff are friendly and funny, and the food is always amazing. This weekend I went to get Oxtail Pasta with a side of Jerk wings. The pasta is always full of flavor. The portion given is pretty good as well. Last time I asked if they could substitute the oxtail for jerk chicken, I think I liked that one a little more. The jerk chicken is always so juicy and spicy just like I like it. The spice isn't overbearing but it's definitely there. My fiance ordered a side of plantains to fill his sweet tooth, they were served with a good crispy yet soft texture just like we like it. The server seemed either overwhelmed or uninterested in working. The tables weren't really socially distanced. I had salad w jerk salmon and jerk wings as an appetizer. My friends had red snapper and curry shrimp. They both said it was good. It took over an hour to receive the food. And the servers gratuity was automatically included. Came here on a weekend trip to Atlanta. The DJ was great, and he played rap, R&B, and dancehall. Plus some great throwbacks! Food was pretty good! And the drinks were solid. I recommend the rum punch! It's pricey ($17) but worth it. The service we received from the hostesses was excellent. They were very accommodating of our party. The waitstaff on the other hand was not so good. It took a long time before our orders were taken, and the food came out slowly and in strange order. Those of us that ordered first got our food last, and we didn't order anything that would've taken significantly longer to prepare. My wife and I enjoyed a quick meal here before our show at the Fox. As others have commented before, the Fox definitely provides some of their clientele. It was also Superbowl Sunday, so it was not too crowded at 6 when we got there ahead of a 7 start time. We had parking with our show tickets, but it looked like several parking options were close by. We were seated and served fairly quickly, and all the staff we interacted with were very friendly. My wife ordered a drink called "The Spot" that was a very refreshing, well-made drink. The only missing star may be unfair of me, but a Jamaican joint running out of beef patties was incredibly disappointing to us! We ordered the jerk shrimp appetizer, curry chicken roti, and the spicy beef entree (I failed to write it down, and I can't seem to find it on their menu right now - sad day!), all of which was fantastic. We eat Caribbean food enough that I feel I can say this is definitely elevated cuisine, and the flavors and presentation made us sad we hadn't gotten there earlier to order the snapper or enjoy dessert.
