Gave me expired chicken biryani. I called them to let them know but they just ignored my call plus they told me that I'm lying.

"Authentic" is one of those words that gets thrown around in reviews of ethnic restaurants without…read moremuch thought behind it. People use it to mean tasty, or familiar, or just different from a chain. That's not what I mean when I use it. To me, authentic means the food isn't pretending to be something it's not, that the flavors and intention come from a real place: heritage, roots, memory. My benchmark is simple. When someone who grew up eating this food says it tastes like home, that's the review that matters. That's the one I trust. Keeva earns that word. Rita is the heart of it, but Keeva is a family labor of love and you feel that from the moment you walk in. When the restaurant first opened she told us about the dream they had to bring the taste of home to the people of San Francisco, and you could feel it. Her kids were often playing in the restaurant when we'd stop by. That kind of detail tells you everything about what this place is. What made me a regular wasn't just the food, which is delicious, it was Rita coming to every table, checking in, teasing us about why she hadn't seen us in a while, steering you toward something you hadn't tried yet. She didn't do this selectively for certain customers. She did it for everyone. That kind of warmth is rare, and it's the whole reason eating out is worth doing in the first place. The dishes are made with intention. You can taste the difference between food that was assembled and food that was cooked with purpose. Keeva is the latter. And if you ask for spicy, prepare yourself. I used to live about a block away and this was my go-to. Moving out of the Inner Richmond meant leaving Keeva behind, and I genuinely miss it. If you're in the neighborhood, what are you waiting for? If you're not, it's worth the trip!

An amazing Indian restaurant…read more Since step into the restaurant The owner so energetic and funny She was so nice and lot of sense of humor My husband and I get a lot of food We order Samosa to start And our Entree is LAMB SAAG BUTTER CHICKEN (the signature dish on the menu). for myself I don't like yogurt that much but this dish is a perfect curry you must try! PRAWN BIRYANI It's like Basmati fried rice Indian style thats full of flavour and has lots of herb. It had lots fried garlic on top which made the dish so special Special dish of the night is PALAK CHAAT Chickpea batter fried with baby spinach with mint sauce. My husband loved this dish and so did I! CHILLI CHEESE NAAN Unbelievable!!!! Great service Quick food

We both thought this restaurant was amazing on all level in all categories. my friend literally…read moresaid " No notes" ! I tend to agree but me being a foodie of course I have notes and all positive. This food, decor and service was unique, elegant, superior then any other Indian inspired food I have ever had! It was bold, colorful and extremely flavorful! The service was definitely 5 star, the decor is absolutely next level and takes you right out if this country. Its felt like I was having an experience not just a dinner. Highly recommend!

What a bummer... Food: 4/5…read moreService: 1/5 (one star for waters being refilled) Ambiance: 4/5 (very loud) Minus a start for horrible policies and unapproachable management. Reservation for 2pm for the pre-fixe menu ($70pp) on a Sunday. We sat down and ordered at 2:15. We got the food fast but also was rushed through the meal. It was 3:00 and they were trying to take our plates. They started to remove plates we were actively eating off of within a hour of being sat. They took a FULL bowl of biryani that we hadn't even eaten from. We asked for boxes and were denied, "We don't pack up food." Excuse me? I just paid $70 for a full meal and you won't let me take the leftovers that I paid for? The server was not engaged, was not able to answer any questions about the food, cuisine or chef. Maybe they were trying to close down at 3? If so, don't take reservations at 2pm. I was SO EXCITED to try this place. What a huge disappointment. I will not be going back but I may order togo because it was quite tasty.

First of all, the catchy name caught my attention, but the menu is what truly impressed me. They…read moreoffer fresh, innovative dishes you don't typically find at regular Indian restaurants. The paneer butter masala was finger-licking delicious, and the naans were fresh and soft--they didn't even get chewy when cold. The chaats are a delight, especially the onion kachori chaat. The absolute highlight, however, was the dessert that shares the restaurant's name: Jalebi. Fried in ghee with real saffron and made fresh to order, it is the most delicious jalebi I've tasted in the whole of the USA. The hosts are a lovely couple running a family-owned business, and they truly have a calling for hospitality. When we visited right around closing time, they were still running around for hungry customers. Even when they had to turn a group away at the door, the wife immediately offered to pack food to go, bringing smiles to everyone's faces. She always finds a way to serve her customers. We really enjoyed our meal and hope to return soon!

For food we got the following: -Dahi Sev Puri - this was my favorite dish, really fun to eat and great flavors. -Chole Bhature - this was also great! The puffy bread was sooo delicious and the chickpeas were perfectly seasoned and delicious. -Bhel Puri - this dish was unique and was a good size portion, but not as flavorful as the other two dishes. It felt like eating a savory rice crispy cereal, but not in a bad way :P -Garlic Naan - pretty decent but nothing special -Jalebi - I was really excited to try this dessert. I looooved the texture (crunchy outside, with a gooey inside) but the actual flavor was not my favorite. To me, it tasted very similar to chlorinated water, and it was hard to get past that.. There was a different jalebi with a dipping sauce, and I wonder if that would have been better. They were out of it when we went, but I would try it again with that. Overall a really great restaurant, and definitely a place to try out if you're wanting a more unique Indian dining experience!
