If there were a waffle heaven, and I'm not saying that there is, but if there were, I'd say Nero would be it. Run by Belgians, this little waffle shop is a hidden gem a little away from the shopping madness of Robson. I was fortunate to go with a few friends who don't mind sharing food so I got to try 4 different waffles which was great because I don't live in Van so I can't visit often and they have a lot of options including 2 different types of waffles. A lighter, sweet or savory waffle and a sweet, denser waffle. I ordered the banana nutella on the lighter waffle, omg! I love that they put the nutella on the side so you can add as little or as much as you want. One of my friends ordered a similar chocolate hazelnut ice cream also on the lighter waffle which was also delicious! There was a strawberry with whip cream on their denser waffle which I think is more like the traditional Belgian waffle. It's smaller and richer in flavour, equally as good but different. And the last waffle was a sweet & savory goat cheese, fig, pine nut, and honey on the lighter waffle... this one was my favourite simply for the unique flavours but I'd say go and share if you can. It makes for such a better waffle experience. What I love about this place is that you can taste the freshness and quality of ingredients. The strawberries were fresh cut strawberries, still firm and not left to sit in syrup so they keep longer. They figs also looked like they were fresh cut. The waffles were all the perfect texture of waffles fresh off the waffle iron, crispy and warm. Definitely a worth while visit!! read more

I tried the Italian Summer , which was cucumbers, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. Honestly, I didn't enjoy it very much.. It was bland and had a funky flavour... However, I feel it's unfair to judge the place just on that one waffle. Could be that I just don't like the cheese. I tried my sister's waffle with ice cream and some sauce and it was amazing... i then tried my mom's deluxe waffle which had porsciutto , asparagus, and egg scrambles, and that was also very tasty. read more

19/100 I am starving and leaving the area soon, so I had to come and try Nero. I crossed the street and held my breath. I could not find it, then finally i saw the sign, then i smelt deliciousness. These are one of my favourite snacks and I can hardly wait to try it.I have to say I probably could have eaten 2! It was nice and crunchy on the outside how I like it. I was not overly fond of the vanilla ice cream that came with my waffle, but would enjoy getting several next time I am in a waffle bar. I see more and more around town these days so it is fun to try but at $10 with tip it is a once in awhile treat i think. read more

For the price here it's around $10 per person with your choice of either a crispy or soft waffle. It's a very small place with only a few tables but the atmosphere here is definitely lively. Shared two waffles between three of my friends and myself and was surprisingly quite small in terms of their portions. I was surprised that the waffle was no bigger than a DVD disc but there was a generous serving of whip cream with the one I ordered that had various fresh fruits. I had heard previously their waffle sizes were a lot bigger so I was a bit disappointed with the turnout. However, the taste is absolutely stellar and I can say it's probably one of the best waffles I've ever had but for the price it would only be a treat for every now and then. read more

Been coming here since they first opened. Its a small space but worth the usual wait. The Biscuit subbed with Nutella drizzle and some on the side topped with strawberries is the usual order. That or bresilliene with strawberries on top! read more

Amazing!! There are two types of waffles, the Brussels (light and crispy) and Liege (soft,sweet,chewy). The liege was sold out, so we got the Brussels waffle. We chose the Dame Blanche, it consisted of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and 60% dark Belgian chocolate. We added strawberries on top. It was so yummy. Small shop, limited seating inside, but there's seating outside available. I wanna try the Liege waffle next time :) read more

Omg a waffle bar! How creative! Staffs are really nice and friendly. They accommodate with your needs and are very efficient. My iced latte was smooth and delicious. I ordered fruity but didn't expect it to be HUGE. There are so many layers of fruit it was overwhelming. My waffle was crispy and airy, just the way I like. My friends all liked their waffle. This place is great for post-dinner snacks but beware of the crowd! read more

Super cute, quaint little joint. Waffles are definitely fluffy and delicious and they've got quite a few topping choices to choose from. I think I would've preferred maybe an ice cream option instead of all the whipped cream, it was really overbearing as it covered absolutely everything. Not a lot of seating and gets pretty full but it's such a cute place that's definitely worth checking out. Order up front. If you like coffee flavoured desserts the mocha waffle is really good! read more

Belgian Waffle FOR THE WIN!!! Amazing dessert spot located on Robson St. with many nearby restaurants. We ordered the Fruitty because we wanted our day's worth of fruits (mom, does this count?) BUT we also got it with a scoop of ice cream (because of the dairy?). HOLY COW (haha) this was AWESOME! Loved every bite. The ONE thing I absolutely hated about this was that I HAD TO SHARE!!! I wanted more after we finished, so I promised myself I'd come back again to get another Belgian Waffle JUST FOR MYSELF. The Vanilla Latte is not on the menu, but he sure knew how to make one. It was creamy and sweetened just like I like it (and that's barely). Canada doesn't over-sweet their drinks like the US does. Great dessert with an awesome location. Go grab some dinner, and don't forget to stop by Nero Belgian Waffle Bar. After you devour your waffle, make it up to your body by walking around and doing some shopping. read more

The best waffles I've had outside of Brussels! I was in Vancouver for vacation and happened to stumble upon this neighborhood while walking back from Stanley Park. I saw the waffles and immediately walked in to see the menu. I ended up ordering two classic dessert waffles and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the waffle itself. The toppings were good but it's really the waffle that sets it apart. I came back everyday and ordered something new every time. The liege waffles are also amazing by themselves. This place definitely needs to be on your list. read more

BF and I wanted dessert and what other place to visit then Nero! we went to the one close to my hotel - a few minute taxi ride away. The place is very small, but the service is 10/10! We ordered two different waffles. The coffee flavored one with a light and fluffy waffle and the heaven, with a crispy waffle. YOU MUST GET LIGHT AND FLUFFY!! DON'T EVEN BOTHER WITH THE CRIPSY! Oh my god, the fluffy waffle is to die for. Your knife cuts right through it like butter. The texture is like a cloud - topped with ice cream and whipped cream --- it was bomb. Definitely will come again, making sure all my future waffles are the light and fluffy variety as it's definitely worth everything in my opinion. read more

Much much better than I was expecting. I have heard good things about this place for some time now, but I figured, how good could waffles be. Well, you ain't tasted a waffle till you've tasted a Nero waffle. We had a Berry White waffle for about $9 - waffle with blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and white chocolate mousse (which resembled whipped cream). Extremely generous portion of berries, which probably would have already cost $4-5 at the supermarket. Loved the white chocolate mousse. We went during a quiet hour and waited about 15 minutes for our waffle. I wonder how long you would have to wait when it is busy! read more

Their waffle was very delicious. Tasty, the outside was crispy and it was very flavorful. The service however was disappointing. It's a very tiny shop and crowded. I went in line and I was second in line for 15-20 min. I didn't know what was going on, ppl kept going in front of me and ordering (they might've been already seated and coming up to re-order). Then the waffle cook asked the person BEHIND me what they wanted to order and if it was for there or Togo... Ok? When it was finally my turn, I ordered, sat down, got my order in about 5-10 min. read more

Had a complimentary vanilla custard mini waffle when I checked in with Yelp app. The cafe is tiny. The buttery sugar aroma filled the air as soon as the door was open. Variety of waffles were on the rack ready to go. I will have to come back for strawberry and chocolate one. There were 2 long benches on sidewalk for the rare sunny day. read more

Living in Vancouver, you need to come here at least once! They make amazing waffles, the most popular flavour is the Bresilienne. My personal favourite are the brussel waffles, which is crispier and lighter than the standard liege waffles. The place is super small however, so you may need to wait quite awhile for a table during the weekends. It is on the pricier side for desserts, but this is downtown and should be expected. They also have waffles to go if you're in a hurry! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE their waffles ! Great for bunch or those sugar craving moments. It is unfortunate that they have such a tight seating area but it is understandable with the notorious rentals of Vancouver downtown (Robson too!) The store is pretty exclusive. I mean, I haven't found any belgian waffle place in Vancouver that does it this well. I think their menus change once in while, I couldn't find one of the waffles I had last time during my second visit. I guess it's good to have some change but it sucks that menu was your favorite. Love the waffles here! There are two types, one is crispy (forgot the name), and the other is soft and chewy- called Liege. I ordered an Orange Delight with the Liege waffle: melted dark chocolate over vanilla ice cream, orange slices, waffle, and powder sugar. It is a real treat. Very sweet, so I would consider this a dessert rather than breakfast place. I believe waffles start at $7.50. My Orange Delight was $8.50 if I remember correctly. The staff are so pleasant it makes eating in much more comfortable. There is limited seating though; I think one large table of 7, one medium table for 4, and one small table for 2. On sunny days there are two additional tables outside. Give them a try and you will not regret! read more

The line can get long and the wait too, not a lot of seating The waffles are delicious especially the sweet ones, but for the price and the wait it's not on my list of go to places. We got the fruity liege waffle which was delicious and amazing. The sweet chewy waffle I could eat all day and the fruit was very fresh. $8.25 And the savory rocket Brussels waffle, $10. Which was alright, but not as tasty as the sweet one. Had a latte which was only ok and they forgot to add the flavoring too and once they help u it's hard to get them to fix things cause they can get so busy. And the hot chocolate wasn't mixed well. During my brief trip to vancouver, there were many places super close to my hotel which was in the heart of downtown (Robson st.) I follow a lot of foodies that live in vancouver and I saw this place pop up many times so I decided to try it with my friends! I was pretty hesitant since I'm not really a fan of waffles, but my mind was definitely changed after coming here!!!! There are two different types of waffles you can choose from, liege and brussels. liege is more of the waffle I'm not a big fan of, fluffier, more pancake like. Brussels is crispier, lighter and airier. They also had an assortment of different savoury and sweet waffles. I ordered the Bresilienne waffle brussels style. It came topped with one scoop of ice cream (although i wish there was one more!) whipped cream, caramel sauce, and sprinkled hazelnuts. Im not a big fan of caramel either, but this waffle was SO good. Unbelievably good, and thats coming from someone who doesn't eat dessert! It is a little pricey, since 1 waffle came to about 13 including tip, but its definitely a place to try when you're in vancouver. They have 3 different locations, but I believe that if youre visiting vancouver you should definitely try to come to the robson st. location since it's walking distance from so many restaurants and shops. The only downside is its a bit pricey for just a waffle, but you could definitely justify it considering how delicious they are. Love love love! read more

Very adorable little joint! Their waffles are definitely worth a try, and I would suggest going to Nero's for a desert because my waffle wasn't very filling. The service is amazing and the lady behind the counter was very nice, informative and even allowed me to switch out my Belgian chocolate for some fresh strawberries! I only gave Nero four stars because they had very limited seating and I will admit that the waffles are quite pricey :/ All in all, amazing waffles and I would absolutely return! :) read more

Best Belgian Waffles in Vancouver! Waffles are so yummy here! I have yet to find a place comparable. The actual waffle is very good, they are made to order. They have two types of waffles, liege (which is sweeter) and Brussels (bigger but not too sweet and more crispy) I like both types of waffle! Expect a long wait if you are wanting to dine in. The space they have isn't very big. I would of given Neros a 5/5 if the wait wasn't too long and because they downgraded their ice cream to a lower grade.. Man their waffles and drinks are so DAMN good lol always keeping their waffles menu 100. I had their matcha latte, and tried various waffles (chocolate, strawberry, and idk what else lol). They even had filling in their waffles - which is an option. The place is very tight, so finding a place to sit down is going to be competition b/w you and whoever is in front/behind you. read more

Solid waffle bar! We went on a Saturday morning and I was pleasantly surprised by how little we had to wait. It was a nice day and we had our waffles on the patio outside. The waffles were DELICIOUS. I had a savory waffle and my friends went for the sweet, and both were heavenly. I ordered a smaller chocolate mini waffle too which was a nice way to balance out my need for both saltiness and sweetness for breakfast. We paid before getting our food- not sure how that's supposed to work for gratuities? And there's no bathroom, I had to go next door to mcdonalds! But otherwise the atmosphere was cute and cozy. I love this dessert place as one of my favourite foods to eat are waffles! My two favourites on their menu are the Biscuit and Heaven (Brussels style waffles). The waffles were light and fluffy with fresh strawberries and delicious whipped cream. The staff are pleasant, quick and efficient. History

Established in 2012.

Belgian owners Eilnaz and Jan Dierckx moved from Belgium to Vancouver in 2011. Missing something from their home country they decided to open up Nero, a small family run waffle shop. Meet the Business Owner: Jan and Eilnaz D.

We moved from Belgium to Vancouver and opened a waffle shop called Nero 6 months after we landed. We had no idea what we were doing, but we were doing one thing right: our waffles. And that is what kept us going for all those years. Our focus on quality and authenticity. What started out as a mom and pop shop grew to a company now employing over 30 employees. We manned the waffle irons ourselves for the first years, but it became clear that we had to surround us with a great team of people. So even if now you don't see us slinging waffles anymore, please know that it is still the same people running the waffle shops behind the scenes. We put our heart and soul in Nero and we hope you can see, feel and taste that when you pay us a visit. We strive to give every customer that walks through the door a 5-star experience with both a great product and great service. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. Virginia's breakfast was all the better by Brian's entertaining stories of 5 years in the service business now.

Everything is indulgent, creative, and somehow still balanced. You can tell the kitchen starts with great ingredients because every component tastes like it could stand on its own. I try to branch out every visit... and then usually end up ordering the Tater Tot Bowl anyway. Crispy tater tots, buffalo sauce, Mexican street corn relish, and ridiculously good pulled pork. It's the kind of dish that sounds like it shouldn't work, but every bite somehow gets better than the last. And then there are the cinnamon roll pancakes. They are enormous. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.

Nero Waffles is the kind of place that will make you question why you ever settled for boring old pancakes. Located in the heart of the West End, Nero is a cozy and inviting space that serves up waffles that are so good, they might just make you want to break into song. We tried the avocado waffle, ham waffle, and Persian waffle dessert during my visit to Nero, and they were all waffle-licious. The avocado waffle was so good, I considered going back to ask for a second one - but I didn't want to be that person :) The ham waffle was also a hit, with enough melted cheese to make you forget about all of life's problems. And then there was the Persian waffle dessert. Oh my waffle goodness, it was like a taste of heaven on a plate. The saffron-infused cream, the pistachios, the rose petals - it was like I was eating a fairy tale. The service at Nero was also great. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and the waffles were so good that I didn't even care that I had syrup on my shirt. If you're looking for a waffle experience that will make you want to do a happy dance, Nero is the place to go. This place is really really yummy if you're looking for a waffle fix! I got the Blue Heaven Liege and I haven't tasted a waffle like that before. It was sweet, but not too sweet, it seemed just perfect. The only reason I took 1 start off is because I thought the waffle was too small for the price. I am not a big eater and although other reviewers are saying it was a good portion, I have to say I was slightly disappointed in the size. The brussels waffle appears larger because it has more air I believe and the liege seemed more dense. Standing outside I briefly found myself choosing between McDs or Nero... who am I kidding there wasn't anything gonna stand in the way of me and a bananella waffle! At under $7 this may be the cheapest one on the menu lucky me and my choice of favs. If elevated blood sugar levels aren't enough of a reason to come then try it for how cute the restaurant is. I LOVE this place!! every time I go to Nero's the food is magnificent and I love the look of the place- very quaint, simple and cozy. There is also seating outside for those warm sunny days. I wish this place would expand for more seating! My only complaint is that 3.5 times out of 5 the service is not very good. They should have more than two people working the front so the till person is less stressed but again its not always like that and they're by no means rude... just obviously stressed. read more

Go for the Brussels waffle, the way to go. Ice cream and whip cream on top. Mind you, it takes at least fifteen minutes to get your order delivered in the peak hours. So, go either early, or late at night before they close. There is not much service and practically, they deliver the plate to your table and go, as there are customers waiting after, they can't spend too much time serving only one table. I love this Waffle bar! My new favourite breakfast place. They are always made perfectly and the staff is super friendly as well. The only thing is that it is very very small. I wish they would upsize, you sometimes have to wait quite a while for your food and even longer for a table. But if you don't mind taking it home it is fine. I started coming to this place a month ago. I am addicted to these waffles. They are amazing. Most of the time i go for the Bresilienne Waffle. I love the Hazelnuts and Caramel taste in them. I…read moreused to play Pokemon Go quite religiously but eventually that tapered off, so the event was a fun way to get reacquainted with the game. After walking around for a couple of hours, trying to entice various pokemon creatures into our traps (wait! is that vegan?!), one definitely tends to work up an appetite and this is where the star of our show comes in, WaffleLand Café ! A mere 10 minute walk from the Vancouver Harbour, walking into WaffleLand feels a bit like walking into a culinary pitstop on the way to Disneyland, a feeling that is no accident, completely by design. If you're a Disney addict like me, just having that theming is enough to serve as a subtle transport to a magical (some might say ..the *most* magical) place on Earth! There's just something about the whimsical nature of the storefront and within, coupled with little detailed touches that just serve to tie everything together. Honestly, I could end this post right here and I think it would still qualify as a complete write up lol but ... fat chance, I'm going to tell you about the food :), the food, the glorious food lol. Let's start by pointing out their completely separate vegan menu, I can never say enough about this gesture, it means so much to the community for so many reasons! You get to choose from a variety of waffles, most of them being sweet but not without some "sweet" (so to speak lol) savory options as well. My wife, being of the sweet persuasion, opted for the "Enchanted Forest" .. bananas, strawberries, almonds, a dallop of vegan cream and hazelnut sauce coupled with the thicker, fluffier liège style of waffle! Myself, being a savory character, I opted for the "Smoked Tofu Lover" with all my favorite things, avocado, hummus, smoked tofu, plus maple syrup and dusted with garlic sesame, coupled with a thinner, heartier norwegian style waffle. There's no wrong choices here, my friends! Plus, while I obviously had to put any low carb aspirations aside by agreeing to eat here, that doesn't mean I can't try to make smarter decisions along the way, with the fat and fiber content of my plate at least hopefully helping to slow my body's reaction to the waffle treat! We were both enamored with our respective dishes, just everything about them, the aesthetics, the flavor, the texture and super generous portion sizing! I regret that I neglected to take pictures of their drink menu as they had a great assortment of coffees, shakes, teas, cold drinks, cocktails and shots. I was really inclined to try myself an effervescent Duck Fart (I have issues, I know this....) but alas, twas not to be as the shot wasn't vegan due to Bailey's Irish Cream. So instead, I relegated myself to joining my wife in a delightfully sweet "Mickey in Waffleland", consisting of Grand Marnier, Tequila, and Tia Maria. Cheers! I love places that offer something unique, with superb character, a place with such a special charm that you're unlikely to find something similar elsewhere in your other travels and WaffleLand succeeded in hitting all of those high notes, a magical waffle experience, indeed!

There are a few tables to grab a seat in their bright shop to eat and I saw they have a nice waffle menu for breakfast/brunch/lunch plus an assortment of other goodies to order like quiches, tarts, croissants and sandwiches. It was a calm environment and you can grab a seat by the window to read a book or work on your laptop a bit if you're coming solo. Of course you can also grab your standard coffee shop drinks as well to accompany your treats. Staff were friendly in answering my questions and it was a great first experience. I'll be back!
