We gave this place one star only because we couldn't give it a zero. We had family visiting us from out of state and decided to take them to this newly renovated steakhouse and to also celebrate my moms birthday. This was the biggest disappointment ever...there were 6 of us and not one of us had anything good to say about our meals. Oh wait, the Caprese Salad was delicious but that didn't require any cooking! We also started with the Fritto Misto, which mentioned it's Great for the table, it was so over cooked, Zucchini hard and Calamari was so chewy I had to spit it out. Lobster bisque, there wasn't even one piece of lobster in the soup, Onion Soup, it tasted like sweet dishwasher water with a lot of wine, horrible, none one of us even finished it. Surf and Turf, steak was ok but the lobster was over cooked and bland, Halibut was over cooked on the outside and mushy in the middle, disgusting. The twice baked potato looked like a football covered in hard cheese, awful.....I have never seen a baked potato that color. Scallop Potatoes, a hard square brick! The waiter never came over to ask us how our dinner was, not friendly at all and the bus girl never came over to refill our waters. No birthday dessert was served for my moms birthday, even after I had requested it from the hostess before we sat down! Just a terrible experience and not worth the $300.00 we spent! First time eating here. What a hidden gem. The dining area we sat in was so nice. All the staff were kind and attentive from the greeter to the busboy. Our waiter Stephen was awesome!! Reservations are encouraged and if you don't want to wait a generally great idea even if it is just two of you. Our wait was about 15 minutes without a reservation, note to self. I was thinking a steak and needed up with the pork special. I heard the name twice, still forgot and while at $32 I should have remembered but it was ok. It was similar to a pork chop but leaner and flavorful with juicy meat. Well done but still juicy which is why I rated it 4 stars. The meal comes with a soup or salad, I chose salad with blue cheese dressing. The dressing had a nice flavor and the salad was filling. I had a later lunch so my dinner was good but I could not finish it. I usually come for the steaks which are above average and worth a visit if you have not tried it lately read more

Six of us dined at the steakhouse on Saturday, March 4th. It started off great with a drink in the bar. Once we were seated it went downhill. The server took our beverage order. Then he came to take our dinner order. One of the couples were both going to have surf and turf. The waiter replied sorry we are out of lobster. So why didn't he say something when he was at the table earlier? The drinks and wine came. We finished the wine. At this point the server was never at our table. I saw him at other tables. We wanted to order another bottle of wine. We asked another waiter if he could find our waiter. He was still a no show. I finally got up from the table to find a manager. We got an apology and a free bottle of wine. Then we finally got our salads. We finished the salads and waited and waited for dinner. All the tables around us were gone. Again the waiter never said anything to us. We were totally ignored. So again I got up and talked to the manager. As I was returning to the table our food was being delivered. The food was either cold or barely warm. The twice baked potatoes and gratin were cold. My steak Oscar was barely warm. We were all hungry so we did not complain. So disappointed, Its a sport bar paying high prices. The noise level was so high, we were yelling at each other. The service was awesome and she was very inform about the food. I Had lamb chops. No taste and tough, twice bake potatoes where like brown and room temp. My husband steak was excellent but the same with the twice bake, he said it tasted like glue to him with a horrible texture to it. Bread was really good and the water. We went back this year for our anniversary although the food was still great, service not anywhere near as good as in the past. Last year we went on our anniversary there were rose petals on the table, they checked in on us - we couldn't wait to go back this year. No roses ok. Put the reason for the reservation as anniversary, waiter didn't even ask what if we were celebrating something - disappointing it was a big deal for us. The table helper was great and the managers checked in but our waiter seemed too busy. May go back to the Atlantis or Western Village for our next celebration. We had Fritto Misto as our appetizer, it was over cooked, under seasoned and tasted like old oil. We had 3 different entrees. Filet and scampi was just ok. Filet was just medallions. Surf and turf was blah and undercooked on both the filet and the lobster. Chicken Parmesan was meh. Chicken was just ok and pasta was over cooked and under seasoned. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Everything was top notch! We arrived about 30minutes prior to our reservation time. They were able to seat us, and set the table special with rose petals to help celebrate our anniversary. Our server and her assistant were fantastic and very attentive. Food was fabulous, we shared French onion soup and carpaccio to start. Had the filet & scampi, and the ribeye for dinner. Each entree included a spinach house salad. Panna Cotta for dessert. I miss Harrahs Steak House , because Charlie Palmers, Anthony's Chophouse, Bimini and Atlantis Steak House miss the mark too. I wish I could make something interesting out of my review of this place. It's a nice locally owned steakhouse that seems to be trying to keep some tradition in the steakhouse dining department. They offer table side service of a number of things I noticed Steak Diane as well as Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee. Everything has a classic Tiffany glass sort of feel. Yet the high ceilings and the openness really upgrade the space beyond just a casino establishment. The actual restaurant is located in the center of the casino but looks like a bungalow with it's own set of glass doors and excellent ventilation system. Our night started on the phone. We called to inquire if their Early Bird Special from February was still going to be available in March and they said yes. When we arrived they were waiting for us and ready to serve. The service was higher end but not fine dining. Our waiter Aaron was very friendly and you could tell he cared to make the meal something special. His team did a good job of moving us through our meal. Even with a last second addition of an appetizer. My wife ordered the Sirloin (26.) off the regular menu and I ordered the Prime Rib off of the Early Bird Special Menu (25.). My prime rib came with a salad but I took the (2.) upcharge for the wedge salad. Not positive the upcharge is worth it but my salad was good. Nothing amazing but good. It also came with a side of mashed potatoes carrots and asparagus. While I didn't have the asparagus I wasn't really fond of the mashed potatoes or the carrots. But my Prime Rib was just perfection. Not too salty not over or undercooked just a nice red piece of meat. So even though the sides were pedestrian and meh, the Prime Rib was a star. My wife on the otherhand didn't fair as well in the meat department, but you can read her review for that experience. Ly S. is her name. The appetizer we ordered was Carpaccio and it was good and personally would have been even better with just a tad more lemon, and maybe some bigger capers? I know I know picky picky picky. But the slices of beef were thick and very satisfying. The bread that they offered was warm. And instead of just plopping bread down on the table, they brought you a piece at a time to let you have it warm and not cooled on the table. Overall the experience wasn't as upgraded as the prices and ambiance suggested, but it was still an A-OK experience with room to grow. Oh I almost forgot, the star of the evening was actually the Lava Cake. Well executed. Just sublime. We had an Amazing Anniversary dinner here last night! Cannot complement the entire team enough for making our experience special. We arrived and entered through the west entrance that avoids going through the casino. The elegance and decor is contemporary and inviting. Linen table cloths and private booths set the stage for excellent service and a variety of menu options. Not just steak ... the fresh halibut and rack of lamb were perfect. Prices are far below the big box casino's in Reno with an engaging service team taking time to make suggestions based on your expectations. Kudo's to "James" and the Matre' D. And it's a little pricey, but it's one of the few restaurants that still include starch and vegetables, and salad with the entree. Tables are spaced out nicely so you are not crowded. I ordered the Petite Fillet.. medium rare. It was cooked to perfection. My daughter ordered the fish special -- I personally thought the Halibut was a little overdone, but everything else was excellent. We forgot about the veggies being included and ordered creamed spinach. Which was great.. made with fresh spinach. And they make the best cheese rolls... asked if we can ordered them to go... unfortunately, you can not. So once again, we took home dinner for the next day. Definitely would come back, although it's a little out of the way when you live downtown and you have really great Steakhouses in the Silver Legacy and the Eldorado. Terrible. Had 530 reservations and did not leave till 730. Had the surf and turf and it was grossly undercooked. All the tables around us seemed to be having issues too. When we were originally seated it literally smelled like vomit. I don't know if it was the body odor of the host or the patrons behind us or what but that should have been our clue to exit. Tried to order desert but after being ignored for 20 minutes we gave up. Manager walked by multiple times but did not engage. Don't think we will be back and we used to like this place. read more

Not a great meal. The service was good and the waiter was friendly but the food was lacking. I ordered the chicken and sent it back because it was literally the size of a chicken wing! For $28 you expect to get a decent piece of chicken. While we waited I tried some of my husband's lobster and steak and that didn't overwhelm me either. The steak seemed under seasoned and the lobster was a bit chewy. Our fiends ordered soup instead of salad as their started and the soup was so hot it burnt her mouth. What a rib-eye! My wife and I had the best experience at Nevada Steak! We normally look for a new place to dine each time we come to Reno but we may have found a new home for a while! The staff was so detailed in their description of the meals and were very knowledgeable about the cocktails/wine list. Wedge salad ridiculously huge, as was the baked potato. Filet mignon and ribeye steaks, while cooked well, were somewhat dry and tasteless. Steak entrees are $52, which I do not mind paying if the food was better. This is my second attempt at Nevada Steak and my impression is the same of both visits. I thought the $3 bottle of steak sauce, akin to bringing a bottle of A-1 or ketchup to the table, was especially ridiculous. Definitely, a quantity over quality type of restaurant. This has been always a nice restaurant close to home. Thank goodness we had a reservation. Otherwise a two hour wait. Waiter was attentive and genuine. The food however was ok. When spending $34-$38 for an entree it should be fantastic. The meals were not fantastic. The bread basket was a hit The salads and soup passes. The carrot and green beans were undercooked. The bake potatoes had a nice rub but needed 20+ more minutes to soften. The steaks at Texas Roadhouse are better and better priced! The steak (filet) was not seared to perfection. In fact the steak barely had grill marks. Flavor was Missing, and wasn't juicy. Perhaps, ordering a side of sauce could have made up for poor preparation. Two people wanted Steak Diane but that would have been a 40 minute wait because there are only two people who prepare it table-side. Ended up with a tasteless filet. They did send home a piece of birthday cake, that was ice. I heard they hired a new Chef. I wonder who made the decision on the new hire? Or maybe they hired a cook to save money and gave them the Chef job? Either way if you can't cook a great steak get out of the kitchen. Update: Sept 2019 - Had a really tasty steak cooked as requested medium rare and slightly undercook veggies. The new kale salad was ample and delicious with lemon vinaigrette. Learned that all the dressings are made in-house. Miss the cranberry dinner roll, new bread choices are blah. The best part is brought a older wine and I made a comment to Alain to be cautious the cork may be dry. He scowled at me in his native accent that he was "opening the wine!" Karma! The jerk didn't open the wine but rather made a mess of cork all over the table and floor. What a grumpy old man! The owner should send this rustic fixture packing and buy a Durand wine opener. Don't get me wrong - I loves me a good steak and I'm enough of a foodie to know good food when it lands in my gullet, but I don't know enough, as one of my friends did, to know the difference between prime and USDA this or whatever. I went for the cowboy rib-eye, medium. Compared to the rib eyes I've had in other steakhouses in town, this was not the most tender or juicy or flavorful. We've been going to Nevada Steak for several months and have always enjoyed it. We went again recently with their new menu and the food was better than it used to be. Had the scallops, which were cooked perfectly. The sautéed mushrooms used to be button mushrooms, but now they're big, hearty pieces of mushrooms that were very flavorful. The chicken breast was moist and tasty. They don't give you a choice or salad or soup anymore, but they give you a nice relish tray with a light sauce on the side. Very good! Will be going back often. We like to sit in the lounge area; it's vibrant and they have a lot of tvs. Fallyn, Patrick and Jerry are helpful, friendly servers and we enjoy bantering with them. We have only been to Tamarack Casino's Nevada Steak restaurant twice. The first time I would have rated it 5 stars+ for service, food, atmosphere, etc. Tonight, however, I'm only giving it 3 stars. The salad and steak was excellent. The twice baked potato was horrible. It was brown on the inside, the cheese on top tasted horrible and it was way over cooked. Our waiter was either inexperienced or just didn't care. His service was awful and did nothing when I showed him the potato and how bad it was. Hoping it was just a bad night. We decided to try the new local Steak house per recommendations from many people on how great the food was - it was a special occasion our 39th anniversary and we we having an evening out with friends- first we were seated in a booth and no one came to check on us for about 20 minutes except a really great bus boy named Dylan- finally my husband went to the hostess and she apologized and found our waiter - not a big deal we were visiting Our food arrived - my husband had the rib eye and the twice baked potato - the potatoes was old , grey and absolutely horrific- the house manager Gary was great and got it replaced right away but at this level of a restaurant it should have never left the kitchen Our guest had the petrale sole it was so bland She also got the baked potato but had to ask for the condiments I had the scampi with the angel hair pasta it was good but not WOW- it was brought to the table and generally the waiter would ask if you would like fresh Parmesan. Came here for a birthday dinner. Four of the five entrees had a weird off flavor so much that we could not finish our food. We had the wedge salad, French onion soup, spinach salad and Caesar salad to start. Wedge salad was supposed to have pork belly on the top. What looked and tasted like chopped hot dogs on the side in some sort of salty BBQ sauce. Wedge dressing supposed to be blue cheese--this was not blue cheese. Dressing on the wedge had the same weird flavor as the entrees. Caesar was the only good thing we ate to start. Entrees were rack of lamb, sirloin, filet Oscar, ribeye and linguini with shrimp & lobster. Every entree but the linguini had the same weird taste. Like they put some weird spice in the food that made it inedible. Sadly they ruined a bunch of good cuts of meat. Seasonal vegetables on the side of all entrees were steamed pickled green beans with pickled cauliflower and pickled red cabbage. We are adventurous eaters but were not expecting pickled vegetables as a side. Again they all had the same weird flavor. Dared to try dessert. Flourless chocolate cake was literally a pile of frosting on a plate. An actual blob. Sent it back. Creme brûlée (fingers crossed)--nope. Curdled. Ice cream sundae -- can't miss there, right? Oh you can...fake whipped cream with the same weird flavor. Ice cream was ok. Talked to management. My discussion with the manager gave me the feeling like they have heard this story numerous times. It's probably hard for the front of the house when the food is so horrible, but left with the feeing that nobody cares and they're just going through the motions or something. Service was good, charged one item we didn't get but comped all the desserts. Meal was $340 with tip. We will not be coming back, sorry to say as we live nearby. read more
