I visited Boomtown Steakhouse in Verdi, NV [2100 Boomtown Garson Rd] on Sunday, 05/10/26, around 4:30 PM. I came here during the holiday, Mother's Day, which had an influx of guests at the restaurant. The server throughout my dining experience was Tori. She was recently hired as a new server and wasn't too knowledgeable about the menu as of yet. With that being said, I desired to show patience and grace since she was still in the training stage. I proceeded to order the following items for dinner: * Oysters on the Half Shell (6) * Lobster Bisque Bowl * $29 Special - Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes The entire occurrence presented as quite interesting, to say the least. I first received the oysters. It had arrived with an empty serving vessel, which was supposed to be filled with the mignonette sauce. Tori quickly fixed this mistake. The oysters met expectations in terms of freshness and quality. They were very delicious with the mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, and lemon juice. Then, I received the Lobster Tomato Bisque. The soup was lacking in flavor and needed help in the seasoning department. I grabbed the peppercorn grinder, which was readily available at the table. Upon twisting the grinder, a lot of peppercorns fell into the soup unfortunately. I kindly requested that Tori replace the soup. A nearby table had the same situation, where an individual had a bunch of pink salt spill over the baked potato dish. Tori was also their server. I noticed that Tori pointed at me and mentioned to the party that I did the same action. When making that observation, I was quite embarrassed. I understood that Tori was trying to make the other table feel better but the finger-pointing provided a slightly unpleasant feeling to me. I finally received the Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes as the entree. However, it took a total of 1.5 hours to arrive at the table. It was quite long and a little frustrating, especially since I've noticed that a couple of parties that seated after me ordered the same meal deal and their food arrived before mine. The steak and shrimp were delectable. The green beans were bland (used butter, pepper + salt) and the mashed potatoes were decent in flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in all, the evening at Boomtown Steakhouse was underwhelming. From the food taking a while to come out, sitting down at a wobbly table, the soup tasting bland, and the overall hospitality from Tori, the experience left some room to be desired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At the end, I truly appreciated the complimentary chocolate mousse dessert. OMG!!! Everything about this place is AMAZING! We came in on our 20 yr anniversary and were treated so special. We had a little place card saying happy anniversary with confetti on the table. It is regularly $40.00. First, some of us started with soup. My daughter and son raved about the French onion soup. My husband and I had the Lobster bisque. The lobster had a lot of lobster in it. It was a surprise to see how much lobster was in the soup. After the soup palate cleanser, Raspberry sorbet that comes with or without Champagne. All but one had it with Champagne. The steak is seasoned well and cooked to perfection (medium rare). I savored every delectable bite. It was so tender; It could have cut it with a fork. It pairs well with mashed potatoes and the green beans that came with the meal. We all raved about our meals and said we would be back. Not to mention it was beautifully presented and styled on the plate. My sister-in-law's Halibut was superior. The flavor was divine. The size of the fillet was huge. See my photo. We have eaten here a few times. 1. Food - it's a steakhouse, so get a steak. I've had the fish twice (halibut and salmon) and it's mediocre/disappointing. We were greeted by 2 nice hostesses, and seated. We interacted with a LOT of the waitstaff, and they were ALL definitely 5 star. Very attentive and professional. BUT it wasn't really seasoned, and kind of bland. The butter on it, however, was off the chain. Would've been nice to have more seasoning, but it is what it is. I took the rest home and ate it the next morning. This place definitely beats the steakhouse at Bonanza, but falls short of Anthony's chop house and Atlantis, but like i said, for the price, does the trick. This steakhouse is a sleeper in the Reno area. The food was incredible. Service was great, albeit the server did admit he was wildly hungover, still did an amazing job. Kudos to the server who jumped in and did their best to help, but by then our entrées arrived cold, clearly having sat while we were without a server. From that point on, we had to ask for everything--drink refills, condiments, steak knives, and even to have finished plates cleared. There seemed to be no management around. I would expect a manager to come to our table to address the situation but no apology, no explanation, no attempt to fix the situation. I came to enjoy dinner with family visiting from out of town and left frustrated. Ordered the boomtown mixed grille, it was okay, my favorite part was the sauce they put on the meats. The filet was definitely overcooked for me and was very dry. The lamb was cooked fantastically, and that was the best meat on the plate. Palate cleansers are always yummy, which was sorbet topped with champagne. My usual is fish so I tried the Halibut and my partner ordered the NY strip. Both were ever so slightly over-cooked but tasty. My side dish was garlic risotto which had great flavor but was kinda gummy. Perfect baked potato came alongside the steak. Side note, we both love beer and theirs is served ice cold. Our only issue was the booth we were sitting in, had a bad bench so we asked moved to a table. Everybody's food came out exactly as ordered and it was delicious. Within the previous years they have changed their traditional experience back in 2022 they would still provide you with a salad, ice cream with champagne to cleanse your palate, and then the main dish arrives. Now you have to order an appetizer to have the ice cream with champagne. Which does not make much of a difference to the traditional experience. We couldn't imagine bigger/taller people squeezing in but it was ok. Our waiter was Colton. We ordered drinks and the mushroom appetizer right away. I should have asked but it would have been nice if we were told only 3 mushrooms came per order. I would have requested an extra one at an added expense. Three of us ordered the prime rib and one halibut. I had to send mine back because it was too rare but when it returned, it was perfect. We all enjoyed our meals. Colton did a quick walk-by asking if we wanted dessert. He should have just handed us menus to look at but we declined thinking maybe they're getting ready to close. It was only 7:30pm.
