We got the tea leaf salad, spicy noodle and kabat to share. The tea leaf salad came out within 5 mins and the server explained its components before mixing it tableside. I enjoyed the crunch and savoriness of the peanuts, sunflower and dried shallots. I do wish it had a little bit less olive oil. The spicy noodle reminded me of pad thai except this was tomato based. I'm not sure how this location has such good reviews - maybe I went on a bad day but the food was genuinely flavorless. Tea leaf salad: this was as advertised. Not my personal favorite but it tasted the way it usually does, mixed tableside. Shan Noodles: spaghetti noodles with tomato sauce, veggies, and tofu. It was super bland. 10/10 would never order again. Basil Chicken: cooked just fine but had zero flavor. No basil taste to be found. I ordered the chicken with mint. It was basically a huge pile of stir fried chicken. You definitely need to order coconut rice with it and it could use more seasoning. I took leftovers home and mixed it with my leftover Indian food for 2 days. So I'd say, maybe not the best to order but a good value. We had a pleasant dinner here with a party of four and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant has a comfortable setup, which is a nice bonus in San Francisco. The food also came out incredibly fast--it felt like less than five minutes after we ordered! The Platha & Dip was the highlight of the night. It was so delicious that we ordered a second round. The Kebat was also excellent, with tender and flavorful lamb. The Samosas were crispy and tasty, and we'd order them again. The Lahpet Thoke (Tea Leaf Salad) was good but didn't quite live up to the hype, so we probably wouldn't order it again. The Skillet Shrimp was disappointing because it looked so good in the photos online, but the dish we received looked completely different. The Curry Chicken was just okay--I've had much better elsewhere. Overall, we had a great dinner, and the good company made the experience even more enjoyable. Loved most dishes but not all. Here's what we got and what I thought. Tea leaf salad: love this dish, will get it every time. Eggplant with garlic sauce: I didn't like it as much as last time, but still a solid choice. Sesame chicken: this was actually a top dish for me. Not super adventurous but good. Tofu garlic noodles: I'd choose this over the superstar noodles, but it didn't really stand out to me. Platha with dip: one is more than enough. It is very good though and I highly recommend. Dry fried string beans: I really liked this dish, it was perfectly seasoned. Skillet shrimp: this is a good appetizer to whet your appetite. Coconut rice: I loved this, it's a small side dish, but I'd absolutely get it again. Jasmine rice: forgo for the coconut rice. Superstar noodles: two noodle dishes was too much, I'd skip this. The Mohinga, or catfish chowder soup is what disappointed me. It was advertised on the menu as " the national dish of Burma" and "not for timid taste buds" so I was expecting unique, colorful flavors. It was actually confusingly bland and didn't taste like much of anything at all, as if someone had placed soggy noodles in a mystery, flavorless soup. The food here is great! I don't eat a lot of salads everyday, but the tea leaf salad is sooo good. Their noodles are delicious, and the food is super clean and light, but also filling and homey. I love the fish sauce and various spices. Sometimes the smell can be pungent for people who are not used to it, so you can get the tea leaf salad without the fish sauce (but why would you lol). The Shan noodles are perfectly spiced and flavorful without being too sweet or oversaturated in sauce. And the dipping sauce with the roti - my indulgent fave and carb load of the meal. I could eat that roti for days. The place is fairly busy weekend nights and happy hour but can be pretty slow some weekday evenings if not much is happening with conferences at Moscone. I actually like when it's busier, as the place insulates the background noise pretty well and it feels less empty. And I'm still able to hear my friend and have a nice dinner conversation. They did try to stick us at a table next to the stairs with blocked views, so we asked to be reseated a table over in a more open area, and the staff was totally nice and accommodating. Bernese food is hard to come by in the South Bay area, so we're eager to try some in San Francisco. We did not realize when we booked the reservation, which is easy to book online, that dislocation is in the middle of the tenderloin, so I will just note that you probably want to Uber or drive rather than walk. We started off with drinks. I bought the hot Burmese milk, tea, which I was scared would be a little bit too sweet because of the condensed milk, but was just fine. We had to get the tea leaf salad, which is made tableside. It was equal heart, creamy, and crunchy, and I would've appreciated more greens, but I can see the appeal as a party appetizer. I came with a friend and I got the lamb kebat lunch special. She got the lamb curry lunch special. The lamb kebat was seasoned good but it felt slightly oily and not as savory as I expected. The lamb itself was a bit gummy and I did not like the texture. The coconut rice was AMAZING! It had a deep coconut flavor that I loved and it went well with the kebat. The tea salad was good but not something I would get again. I'm surprised that this is their most popular item. Maybe I'm not a salad guy. The dressing itself just felt like oil so the salad felt a little oily. Interestingly enough, I happened to have some hot honey from Outta sight pizza and decided to drizzle some over the salad to see how it would taste. It ended up being much more palatable and I finished the salad. Perhaps it would benefit from having some sweetness to enhance the meal. Overall it was an ok experience. The interior was very modern and chic, we enjoyed the little area we were sitting in which gave us a little more privacy to talk. Our food came out within 10 minutes which was so fast and the server was helpful, always checking up and letting us order rice because we forgot it was not included with our chicken dish. I actually need an extra star option because Burma Love was that incredible!! Where has Burmese food been all my life? I had never even heard of Burmese food when my coworkers had suggested it. We ended up sharing fiery tofu, spicy and sweet chicken, samusas, spicy noodles with chicken, and eggplant and all of the dishes were incredible. Everything tasted so fresh and the flavor combinations were well thought through. I enjoyed my dinner with them so much that I came back the next day for lunch and tried the chicken curry and rainbow salad. Again, I was very impressed. Our server for our group paid close attention to detail and was patient with us. He did a fantastic job and made suggestions to add rice with some of the dishes. This was so good and I really wish I could get food like this back home. Many years ago, our work team had a team dinner at Burma Love and I still remember my first Tea Leaf Salad experience. Flash forward to 2025 and I was excited to take the new team to this spot; we knew it would be delicious and unique, and it's different than the norm for a bunch of folks coming from all across the country for our community conference. I wish I could line out every single item we ate, but shoutout to our server who helped steer us towards many, many, many wonderful things to share among the table. We started with cocktails which were delicious (you never know in a restaurant vs. a true cocktail bar but these were legit). The restaurant is tucked near an alley, which can get a little sketchy so be careful. We went on a Thursday night at around 5 PM and were immediately seated. I love Burmese food but have only had it in San Francisco. I know there are a few Burmese restaurants in Dallas/Lewisville, I must visit them ASAP. Meanwhile I wish we had something on the westside of the metro. I would be there ordering tea leaf salad every other day! I originally wasn't sure how much I'd like a tea leaf salad because I don't enjoy green tea, but I LOVE it. Burma Love serves a classic version: fermented tea leaves tossed with a crispy mixture of nuts, seeds, beans, and fried garlic with lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, scallions, peppers, and fresh lemon. It's super crunchy, bright, nutty, and umami-y. A little sweet, too. It covers all the bases! Add as much red pepper as you want for heat. My friend and I ordered the gluten free and vegan tea leaf salad to share and totally devoured it. I also enjoyed the coconut chicken noodle soup (also gluten free), described on the menu as "slowly cooked together with chicken thighs, coconut milk, onion, garlic, and turmeric... garnished with cilantro, fresh onion, eggs, chili, and lemon." I don't eat Burmese food often, but I would go as far as saying that Burma Love has made my Top 3. In fact, we loved Burma Love so much that we had it for lunch 2 days in a row! Tea salad is my favorite Burmese dish, but what got me was that the menu stated how theirs was an award-wining recipe. The salad was excellent and by far the best Burmese green tea salad I've ever had. I loved that the restaurant offered lunch specials, so I got the Burmese curry with chicken.
