Just found this lil place through Yelp while I was grocery shopping at Stater Bros next door. Very clean cute little donut shop; the lady was very friendly. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a tea and she was kindly gave me couple donuts to try out. Will come back and order more :) read more

If you want a donut, this is the place to go in the Newport area. Family own and they always have such an abundant selection in the morning. Great to get a dozen for coworkers and enjoy breakfast. I live in Las Vegas but whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to come here. Best donuts out there in my opinion! The staff is always nice and the doughnuts are always on point. I'm shocked that I've lived around the corner from this place for months and just tried it for the first time today. The ham and egg breakfast croissant and chocolate twisted donut were so delicious! The only thing better than the food was the service. Ben, his brother Jerry (lol easy to remember) and Emily were wonderfully accommodating. Just remember to tell them to add the gratuity before they run your card. They definitely deserve it! read more

I love Newport Donut. The donuts are always fresh, and they have a lot of variety at a great price. I love their whipped cream bar and their cronuts. They also have really good drinks, especially blended. I like to get the honeydew or green tea. They also make great Thai tea. As far as the service goes, it's great. Family home businesses are either a hit or miss for a lot of people but this place is great. The grandma working there is there everyday and I appreciate her being able to get my coffee and donuts when I go. The prices are reasonable for a big shop thats by the beach and in a touristy area surrounded by hotels. If you come at a certain time everyday theres a chance where you can snag hot fresh donuts straight from the fryer! The ladies don't know much english so I can see how they can come off as rude to some people but they try their best to be nice to their customers regardless. I decided to stop by on a Saturday morning around 7:30 AM before work and was "greeted" by 4 angry Asian ladies who run around behind the counter like chickens with their heads cut off. The one who was helping me was clearly becoming inpatient since I couldn't make up my mind even though there was no line behind me. In the end, I got an apple fritter, maple bar, chocolate on chocolate sprinkle, chocolate on chocolate with coconut, and iced coffee for under $7. My BF and I rode our bikes to this location, hoping that they had breakfast specialty croissants and they did. Yay! My bf lives walking distance from this donut shop which was a good thing during a night of drinking with friends. We all stumble over to this shop for some sweets. It was honestly not even midnight yet and we weren't being rude or obnoxious drunks. Yet, the lady at the counter was so incredibly rude to us from the moment we arrived!! After literally a minute of getting into the store, she goes "can you hurry up??" in which we responded, "oh, I'm sorry are you guys closing soon?" Her response, "no, but I have other things to do." SHEESH!! We then each hurried it up a little, telling her which donuts we wanted, to which she kept rolling her eyes and looking more and more annoyed. It even got to the point where she put the wrong donut in the bag, but I didn't even want to let her know because I was scared of her reaction. My friend asked her for a warm sandwich and her response was: "no warm sandwiches right now!" My friend: Ok, can I just get one of the pre-made ham and cheese croissants in the display?" Mean lady: NO WARM SANDWICHES. My friend: *points to the croissant* Can I just get that one? Mean lady: HAM AND CHEESE ONE?? -______- I get that she probably gets frustrated staying open late, but it was not even midnight & we were all well-behaved (especially after having to deal with her attitude)!! Not very familiar with the area but I've seen this place before taking the freeway home and decided to stop inside the young girl who helped me was "nice" I ordered a croissant and a donut even a drink so I wouldn't get charged 40 cents for using my card and then I asked the girl if she had wipe cream for my hot chocolate and she said yes as she asked the older lady to watch the front she told her she needed to get me wipe cream and she said it was a 25 cent charge I didn't mind the charge but then I realize I had to pay the 40 cent fee to use my card I wish she would of told me it was an extra charge before me paying I thought it was ridiculous to pay 65 cents for a small amount of wipe cream they seem to care so much more about the money than for costumer service read more

Great Donuts. Crosaut are ok. Fresh squeezed orange juice is good. Place is clean. Good place to try and wake up in the morning. It is quiet at 9:45am on a Monday. They have a large selection of drinks. I got some chocolate milk and later an orange juice. read more

This might be my new favorite donut place. I've stopped by a few times in the past couple weeks, and everything has been delicious so far. The donut holes and the cronut in particular have been some of the best donuts I've ever had. Every employee has been really nice and patient so far too. I most recently stopped by on the fourth, and the guy working in the early afternoon was really helpful and friendly. They also take cards for a very small fee, which is way easier than having to use an ATM. Great place, give it a shot! read more

I believe this is my first review with a one star rating, and if I can give zero stars I would. I just left this donut shop really disturbed and upset. Driving to work I decided to stop at this donut shop and get a dozen. I asked how much the dozen was and the shorter woman said "$12.50." I then said ok and started to pick which donuts I wanted. I had asked for a specific one and she said it would be an extra charge, so I said no thanks. When I asked for another maple donut (the long one) she said it would be ten cents more because I had some in the box already. So apparently after a certain number of the long donuts, they charge more. I then said no thanks and she said "no its ok it's fine" and added more of the maple long donuts; so then I finished my order and walked over to the cashier. They both talked in their language and then the taller woman said "$12.70," which I then asked why she was charging me extra and she hesitated then said "oh because you have more long donuts." Keep in mind I had a total of 12 donuts. I then said no thanks and walked out, they both called me back but I kept walking. What upset me is the extra charge for asking more of the same donut? And then to not communicate properly between themselves and say "hey she has two more of the long donuts, but I told her we wouldn't charge" ...they thought I wouldn't notice? Really!? I'm sure they charge other clients after they told them they wouldn't. That is VERY sneaky and very unprofessional. read more

Keep driving, do not stop, their donuts are junk. I'm a HUGE fan of a great fritter and a second donut if they are good. Newport Donut has neither a good fritter nor do they give me a craving for a second donut. I travel on the weekends looking for the best donut in town and I really wanted Newport Donut to be the place but they just don't cut it. I actually went there twice and both times I was extremely disappointed. So far (I have checked out 6 shops in the Costa Mesa area) Miss Donut on Harbor is the best donut around. read more

For anyone that is looking for an exotic looking donuts - this is not your place. They are very normal but very decent for what they have.
