    Ribeye steak
    Ivan F.

Our family eats out a lot. We also write a lot of reviews. I don't say this lightly: this restaurant failed at every possible level. Let's start with the belly bites. "Burnt" doesn't even cover it. These things tasted like they were cooked a week ago, left under a heat lamp, reheated multiple times, and then served with a straight face. Rock hard. Completely inedible. What should've been tender and delicious had the texture of candle wax. Every single person at the table spit them out--literally--and we sent them back. Then we waited. And waited. One hour and fifteen minutes later (yes, really), our entrees arrived--despite the restaurant being half empty. For that wait, we ordered a $57 ribeye, a $49 sea bass, and chicken parmesan. The chicken parmesan looked and tasted like something you'd get at a discount diner. Watery tomato sauce over overcooked angel hair, topped with what appeared to be two frozen chicken breasts and round slices of provolone melted on top. Awful. The pasta tasted like it had been boiled in dishwater. The sea bass? The smell alone was enough to kill the appetite. It genuinely smelled like a gynecologist's office. When the server asked, "Does everything look good?" the entire table exchanged eye rolls. The mashed potatoes underneath were fine--sadly, the only redeeming thing on the plate. Now the steak. They called it something fancy--Koji Aged CAB Ribeye. Sounds impressive. It wasn't. Zero flavor. No salt. Instead, it was drowning in what tasted like Worcestershire sauce. The menu never mentioned it being marinated. Had it said so, I never would've ordered it. Between the gristle, fat, and overpowering marinade, I couldn't even finish it. The side of rice tasted old--like it came straight from a bag--with exactly three pieces of broccoli and one sad, overboiled half-slice of carrot. Not even a whole carrot. Drinks? Four waters and one iced tea. The bill? $158 + tip For less money, we could've eaten at Perry's Steakhouse and had a phenomenal meal. Instead, we got overpriced, painfully slow service and some of the worst food we've ever been served. Overpriced. Slow. Inexcusable food quality. We won't be back.

Don't do it! We just left from our Valentine's Day meal and it was horrible. It was a 3 course meal with a small appetizer and lack luster main dishes. You receive one piece of carrot, one piece of broccoli and one piece of cauliflower. The price was ridiculous for the amount of food we received. This place is truly over rated. The boxed mashed potatoes with a little truffle oil sealed the deal. We won't ever come back here.

As noted by many, the service was VERY slow. Perhaps this is attributed to the "made from scratch" nature of the food. Based on the fact that some of the entrees were hot while others were much less than lukewarm it seems like timing may have been off, causing some dishes to sit and wait for others to be prepared. But the fact we saw our waitress on the phone outside both when we entered and left, I think that may explain why we didn't see her for a long period of time. We heard about the locally made bread... that's not served with the meal. $5 extra. The food itself once received was decent. The four-cheese ravioli had a somewhat thin, milky tasting sauce. But not bad. Wedge salad was fine. Ambiance is nice. If there was a 3.5 option I'd have given that, which pretty much falls in line with the average here. So I think we had a typical experience. Not bad enough that we'd never return in the future.

Just average...$300 dollar pre fix menu for 2. Really?* Took 1.5hour to get our meal after complaining two times that other people who came in after us got their meal before we did? The point of a prefix menu is that everything's ready to go right? Don't see the attraction the food was average for $$ 300 bucks Jesus could have gone anywhere and had a much better experience Will not be back.

Popped into Next for an early Valentine's Day dinner with my Fiancé and couldn't be happier we did! We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server Maude was very charismatic and quick with service but never made us feel rushed. The place really does give off the whole "Bistro" vibe, dim but not dark, music was present but didn't impede conversation. The star of the show was the food, which is generally what you hope for at a restaurant I suppose haha. We felt that nearly everything we ordered was priced correctly (sans maybe the Brie) as you got PLENTY of food. My duck was the. BEST. I've had in years. So crispy yet not dry. A good amount of meat (if you eat duck often you know you're usually getting mouthfuls of bones lol). And I could have drank the sauce by itself, it was that good. My fiancé said that every bit of his seafood was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning on point! 10/10 recommend!

This place was amazing... the food... the service... the atmosphere. They had it all. Our server Josh was wonderful. The food was sublime. Go... just go. You will not be disappointed.

Our waiter, (Johnny,) was utterly fantastic. The place had lovely ambience, great service, and delicious food. I've been a customer at Next for the past ten years and will certainly be back again!

The outside is nice and clean to this restaurant but does not fully represent what you are about to experience. The barrel aged Old Fashion is the best I have ever experienced. I will not report how many I had. Tried to order wine, after not having the second bottle we selected, we continued with the Old Fashions. The salmon was on point, perfectly prepared. Brussels sprouts normally do not impress me, but these certainly did. Not a dessert fan but the soufflé was amazing. All this added up to me purchasing one of the nice pieces of art that were available for sale. Maybe I was encouraged by the Old Fashions.... I wish this restaurant was in my city. It would be a weekly visit. Only reason a 4, not keeping their wine list updated to the inventory.

What a local gem! We've heard about this place but haven't had the opportunity to get here, until tonight. Date night for us and we stopped by NEXT. We isn't have reservations but they were able to seat us immediately. The place was full as well. (They do take reservations by the way.) The menu has a jam packed variety including a wide variety of wine and cocktails. (Beware if expensive cocktails- all said and done- one drink "whistlepig" was $25.) The food menu was expansive with a feature list of new and/or seasonal items. We ordered an ap - burnt belly and a salad - whole iceberg and split between the two of us and both were very good. I had the shrimp scampi with angel hair. My husband had the filet. All very good. We will definitely come back. I was impressed with the menu and quality of food. It's not a cheap night. Our bill with two drinks was $120 (excluding drinks $80). Dishes range from $20-40.

After noon, you can expect the crowd to significantly increase and it will become busy. We ran into that, towards the end of our visit. With the increase in traffic, it was nice to be tended by more than one waiter. I didn't think about it then, but I would have loved to tip the second person, as well. When going to Postino's, I always try to get something new and they never fail to impress. Drink: The Mockingbird (Mocktail) - bright pineapple, a touch of Italian orange, and toasted almond bitters. This was very good and is something I'd get again. The Board: Brie, Apple & Fig Spread - this is a repeat for me, I absolutely love it. The apples are always fresh, crisp, and juicy. This is so perfect! Prosciutto Di Parma, Fig & Mascarpone - another repeat, I can't go to Postino's without having this on my board. Mushroom & Mascarpone - If you're a lover of mushrooms, you'll enjoy these little bites. I did notice, we did not get the green onions this time around and I was okay with that. They were removed, due to the current outbreak. Great thinking, Postino's! Salami & Pesto - This always closes the board for me, I love this combination. Although, I will add, I think a different type of salami would work best with this combination. West Coaster Panini - (Smoked ham, smashed avocado, arugula, roasted garlic aioli, pickled red onion, Calabrian chili, feta cheese. For my side, I chose the tomato soup, my goodness, was it good. I must say, it is the best tomato soup, I've ever had. It was creamy, packed with flavor, and complimented my panini so well. Also, they add cheese tortellinis to the soup as well. So, good! This was very delicious, the ham stood out and wasn't muted. However, I think I will get another bread next time. I chose the focaccia, it was a bit too much bread for that particular sandwich. I will admit, it doesn't beat their prosciutto and brie panini; that sandwich is divine. Hot Donut Dots - (House made ricotta donut holes with salted butter chocolate, caramel and vanilla glaze dipping sauces.) These are superb and packs a lot in one bite. The cream in the middle is so smooth and full of flavor, but is very heavy. I'm not a cookies and milk person, but this dessert craves a tall glass of milk. They were hot, fresh, and I appreciate the fact that even when fried, they were not swimming in grease. The vanilla dipping sauce was my go-to, of the three sauces. They did well with this dessert, it hit all of the bases. Postino's is a great place to visit with friends, a date, or even as a solo-day/night out. They are one of my top 5 restaurants and I don't see that changing, ever!

Initially I came to take advantage of a deal, however, do know that the $25 board and wine combo is only available Mondays and Tuesdays after 8 PM, and we were there around 4:30. However, despite that overlook on my part, the food definitely did not disappoint! We had an amazing server. She was easily available , quick, and accommodating. My friend had some dietary restrictions and she was quick to ask about them, and make needed modifications without any issue. Extremely kind, and fun to be around, she had some great suggestions for items on the menu. The environment was definitely more relaxed, however, the pace was definitely picking up when we left. As I mentioned we were there right before people seem to be getting out of work, and it seemed like a lot of people are making their way and to enjoy an evening meal or happy hour. We easily got a spot in front, however, if there happens not to be any available, there's lots of parking behind Lush on the opposite side of the road. I'm hoping to go back and try one of the boards, I've had one prior at different locations, but I'm sure it would be just as great here!

Moving to Texas a while back, a friend said "never underestimate a restaurant in a strip mall"…read more Craftway Kitchen in Southlake isn't exactly in a strip mall, but in the outlot of a few big box retailers. We've driven past Craftway Kitchen more than a few times, always intrigued with a 'we have to try that place sometime'. Saturday night was sometime. Taking our chances as a party of three walk in's, the restaurant was full inside, and there were a few tables open on the patio. I generally don't like to eat on patios, because flies show up, etc. Not at Craftway... not sure what they were doing, but there wasn't a fly or other flying bug around. The patio wasn't just clean, it was meticulous. Welcoming too - It felt very much like an extension of the restaurant. Alex, our waiter was quick to bring water and menus. Returning to take drink orders, a margarita was ordered as was a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Drinks were quickly served. Water was never allowed to become empty. Alex asked if we had ever been to Craftway, we informed him this was our first visit. His ask "any allergies?" to which we said no. He disappeared, returning with an appetizer sampling plate with three items - the Reuben egg rolls, crab stuffed mushrooms, and blue cheese chips. All were fantastic! Three entrees ordered, the Chicken & Fig sandwich, Chicken Milanese and the Cajun pasta with Chicken. Food arrived; each entree was fantastic. Cooked to perfection, flavors were amazing. Dessert, shared, was a bread pudding with ice cream, a perfect finish. Alex never let beverages become empty, delivered superb service. The Chef circulated the room checking on satisfaction and chatting with patrons. Giving Craftway Kitchen a very well deserved 5-star rating. The staff did everything right! Most of the starers are mouthwatering, even the unexpected Ruben Eggrolls are a delight. Less daring items like the coconut shrimp are equally good. Without a doubt my go to entree is the Beef Wellington. I remember La Madeleine had an affordable one on their menu in the late nineties, this is reminiscent. I do usually swap out the mashed potatoes for the chopped wedge as side, just seems like the classical steakhouse side for the task. The only thing I would say that is lacking is the wine list, despite being very fairly priced. Their most bespoke bottle of red is the Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon (2021), which while amazing for the $99.99 they charged, it was fairly flat, lacking the traditional vanilla perfume you'd expect from a pricey California Cabernet Sauvignon. Also took a bottle of GH Mumm Grand Cordon, which also did not taste as anticipated. I think the most plausible explanation might be heat damage, as both wines are usually well regarded but came up short.

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.

However, I went to the bar to buy a drink after dinner and she took issue with the $20 I handed her for payment. It was an older $20 from before they changed the design. She held it up to the light and was looking for the strip and said that because it didn't have the strip that she couldn't accept it. I looked at the bill and saw that it was a 1988 bill. I told her this and she said it should still have the strip in it. I didn't want to argue so I happily paid using a different $20, but my curiosity got the better of me later that evening and I looked it up and she was incorrect. They did not start adding the strips until 1992. I could understand if it was some youngster that might only be familiar with the newer bill design, but she was not young. I also would have accepted her stance if she said it was hotel policy to only accept bills that have the strip. The way the interaction took place left me feeling accused of trying to pass a counterfeit bill. A little more tact would have gone a long way here. I feel like a hotel manager would be more in tune with customer service. Funny enough, I went back to the bar the next night and paid with the $20 in question. The bartender on duty that night accepted it without batting an eyelash. Food was just okay. Our group tried a variety of menu items: Ribs, wings, carbonara, salmon, pretzel appetizer, hummus, and maybe a couple other things. Ribs were probably the best thing, but nothing really stood out.
