We LOVE Next! We don't go often, given that it is a bit pricey, but it is an excellent date night destination especially for those who love great food. The ambiance isn't the best, but it's fine. The service is a little hit or miss, but we actually prefer servers who leave us alone more than check on us, so it's not been a problem. The menu is VERY extensive and I can't imagine anyone not finding something that doesn't sound delicious and different than your usual restaurants. If you haven't gone, GO! Also, if the price is an issue, sit at the bar, order a drink and split a salad and flatbread. It is very worth it and economical! read more

This is our second time to Next Bistro. Our first visit was nice, food was good but our waiter was less than average. We thought it would be great to bring friends here for Valentines Day and than attend a local play. We informed our waiter which happen to everyone the same one we had on our first visit, that we needed to be out by a certain time in order to get to the theater (play), he said no problem.. it took a long time just to get our drinks and he forgot to bring one person the drink she ordered. It took about an hour just to get our salad. By the time we got the rest of our dinner and dessert we were will over 30 mins past our deadline to get out. I mentioned the issue to the lady at the front desk and all she said is sorry , the owner was standing right to there and sued nothing!! Paid over $220 for dinner since it was a fixed price/ menu, horrible service !!! And we were too late to attend the play bc we were 30 mins late, so that was a $100 loss on those tickets .... beyond upset!!! This is my second time in three years and I feel that it is overpriced for what you get. The atmosphere is lovely and the customer service is nice but the owners seem to be bored or overworked. Soufflés are my favorite dessert ever and they looked pretty but didn't taste that good. All I could taste was the sugary egg whites that were slightly undercooked. I loved the wild caught selections of fish but the portion was small compared to the price. There were three of us for lunch and in total we each had a main course, 4 glasses of medium priced wine and 2 desserts. Total bill BEFORE TIP was $155. The complimentary birthday dessert was nice but would have be a nice touch if they gave her a choice of dessert or appetizer from the beginning. That way it would be more special. She was actually allergic to the dessert and couldn't have any but because they assume it is good, they actually frustrated all of us by giving her the sugary and fattening item. Their intentions are sweet but they need to follow through with personal and intentional favors. I most likely will not go back unless they change some things. read more

Party of 4 went for dinner on Sat. evening. Over priced for the quality. Ravioli, Lasagna, Elk, and Ossobuco were ordered for entrees. Dumplings and Brie for apps. Not one dish was remarkable. Out of all the things ordered the Brie was the best. The dumplings had hard edges and were flavorless. The ice burg lettuce wedge was nothing to brag about, I think there was one grape tomato on it, I didn't see any bacon. The entrees were just blah to us. Was expecting a dimly lit vine bar with some comfortable seating and wood fire smell. Did not deliver on any of those expectations. In fact, it is pretty bright inside, a funky mix of yellow and blue couches (go with black/grey in a wine bar) and lights are quite bright. The crabcake appetizer is easily one of the best I have ever tried, sadly, the main course lasagna and pork loin did not live up to that standard. The meal we had at this restaurant was a total disaster. They actually served two in our party an unremarkable fish entree that was supposed to be Dover Sole but was no such thing. The seafood paella I was served was dry as a bone with every piece of seafood in it over cooked. For dessert, we ordered a soufflé that came out undercooked, which our waiter insisted was not. When we got the bill, there was an extra charge of 25 cents for the second blue cheese stuffed olive we requested in our martinis. This is one of the worst overpriced meals I have had in a long time. Since we live in Colleyville we like to give our local businesses a try. It was Saturday afternoon and I decided to go to the new restaurant and since it was my birthday, it was my choice. We parked in the larger parking lot on the North side of the building but couldn't find a sidewalk into the restaurant so we drove around to the South side of the building. Then we almost drove away because the "Open" sign wasn't illuminated. As we were driving away we noticed another illuminated sign that said "Open." We still weren't sure so we headed to the front door in search of some business hours on the door. There were none. We tried the door and, lo & behold, it opened. We were promptly greeted and seated. There was only one other table that was occupied, probably because anyone wanting to eat here didn't know it was open. I ordered the Caesar Salad & asked them to add chicken. The server said there would be an "Up charge." I expected as much. A few minutes later she came back to our table to tell me how much it would be. I told her it didn't matter. Maybe they should add that little notation to their menu like every other restaurant does. Then she came back to ask me if I wanted the salad served at the same time as my husbands sandwich. When one orders one item, it should be understood that the dish is to be served as a main course. The appetizers and lunch were then served promptly. The salad was very good and the Romaine lettuce was crisp. The chicken was obviously a Quarter chicken because the leg was attached to a portion of the small breast. It must have been a Cornish Hen due to the size. The seasoning was very good and it tasted as though it had been cooked on a rotisserie. The Caesar dressing was very good and didn't taste like it came from a bottle. I'm sure it must have been homemade. My husband ordered the Pumpkin Bisque, which was delicious, & the Panini with apples, which was served with Sweet Potato Fries on the side. The fries tasted fresh, not frozen! Score! My husband said the sandwich was great. I'm not certain if this restaurant has any desserts. I didn't notice them on the menu and we weren't offered them after we finished our meal. Just a few things I would recommend to the Owner and the server. For the sake of success, get your "Open" signs working. Put something outside to let drive by traffic know that the business is a restaurant and that it is "OPEN." Put the business hours visibly on the front door. Offer some bread while the customer waits for their meal. Most people understand an up charge for adding chicken to a salad. Don't make a big deal out of it. Let the customer know that the tea is flavored after they order it. Many don't like flavored tea & should be advised so you don't have to throw it out because the customer wasn't told in the beginning. This will save $ in the long run. I liked it, however. Know your menu. If the customer asks about any item, you should know the answer off the top of your head. Know what sauces are used, how a dish is prepared and what sides are offered. Always offer dessert before the check is prepared. You want your customer to spend as much as possible. Oh! The sign says it's a "Vino" bar? We weren't offered a wine list. Other than these obvious suggestions, we were very pleased with the service, the atmosphere and the food. WE WILL RETURN AND WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AS A GOOD DINING OPTION IN COLLEYVILLE! read more

We have really tried to eat here multiple times. Here are our experiences: 1- I have ordered the Salmon two times and fallen ill. This has been two separate times months apart. It was directly because of the food and got food poisoning. 2- Good wine selection 3- Service is non responsive and slow 4-We have ordered take out to go (Oct 2015)- pizza only and it was great. 5- Jan 2016: we ordered pizza takeout. The order was two pizzas, one flat bread, and a salad. This cost $70...The salad was standard, the flat bread could be eaten, but the pizza-It was horrible. We were unable to eat it. When we called to tell them how bad it was, were told Jen was out (girl who makes pizza), and the Chef who doesn't know pizza was making it. The woman who answered said she was sorry and knows he has no idea how to make pizza. When I asked what they would do for us she asked the owner who told her to tell us nothing. To get in our car, bring the pizza back, and return it for another pizza. Who does that?! They told us that this is not the person who knows how to make pizza and then the only offer was to give us another pizza? At this point we will never eat here again. I don't see how you can treat customers this way in such a small community. We really tried to be customers and support the local community, but I can never stand behind a restaurant who doesn't value customers and sells food which can't be eaten. This place is good if you want a drink, dessert. If you would like to overpay for food which is poorly cooked then also go to Next. I would like to note that the ingredients taste fresh, it's the cooking which is inappropriate and service/ treatment of customers is absurd. Update: After dinner my sister took the remains of the horrible pizza back. They did give us a refund for the pizzas only- gave a $20 bill. Should have for the whole order for the trouble. $20 does not cover the cost of their pizza. Giving a $20 bill is rude and disrespectful. We will never eat here again. read more

I'm a huge supporter of local, independent business and will seek them out so that's why we stayed in the suburbs and tried this place for Valentine's dinner. Unfortunately, this place left much to be desired. Pros: our server was fantastic. In observing other servers, we definitely got one of the better ones. They also have a very extensive liquor (Louis VIII in the 'burbs!) and wine selection and the drinks were very well made. It was a fixed 4 course $80 dinner with 3 selections from each course. With that being said, the kitchen could not get the food out! It's a limited menu and predictable expectations for volume on Valentine's Day - what's the problem? I think there is a back dining room but our party of 4 was in the front and it was only 3/4 full at the peak. Nothing was memorable about the food and we found a couple of things odd but you can't call it bad either. We left after 2 hours and 10 minutes of being at our table and only receiving 2 of our 4 desserts. Tables around us that were seated an HOUR after us were leaving and they had completed their meals so the restaurant certainly wasn't trying to make it an European style leisurely meal! I'm not sure what the problem was with our table. With so many restaurants to choose from, it's hard to go back to a place where they make a bad first impression and the food doesn't draw you back. read more

Had dinner here tonight, it was as good a dinner as we have had anywhere. I had the Ahi Tuna that was wonderful and my wife had the Pork Roast that was great and we finished the meal with their Bread Pudding that was some of the best I have had. We started the meal with 2 Crab Cakes that everyone should try, and the Field Green salad with a wonderful dressing. Food is overpriced and our overall experience was not great, especially considering the prices. Our total bill for 2 people (before tip, no drinks) was $60. Here is how the evening went: We walked in to a half-empty dining room; the hostess asked if we had a reservation (we did not), and then told us it would be a 25 min wait. When we were seated, it was next to a very large party (not an issue) in the back room, where again half the tables were empty. We ordered bread ($1 - yes they charge for it), French onion soup ($8 - even though the menu says $5), mushroom risotto ($14), and one of the nightly specials - filet ($35) with mashed potatoes and (Julianne) steamed vegetables - about 2 tablespoons. The menu posted on the website is misleading, as the vast array of "specials" are considerably higher in price than the items on the menu. The filet came with the chef's signature steak sauce, which was needed because it had no seasoning at all. Twice during the evening, the waitress taking care of the large party next to us used our table as a pit stop/dumping ground for her table. We complained to our waitress the first time she did it, and our waitress saw her do the second time, and I believe she said something to her - definitely not something you expect in a place like this (or like they believe they are). I feel like we paid too much for atmosphere and food we got. We won't be returning. read more

food is below average - copycat recipes. I found a bug in my salmon (which was dry as dirt) and when I called it to waiters attention, he did nothing to fix. Didn't offer to make another and charged me. The service was slow slow slow and the drinks were weak. For as much as they charge, there should be plenty of booze in it. The bartender didn't seem interested in doing his job. More interested in the tv. The woman making the pizzas in loud and obnoxious. I had a hard time hearing what my friends were saying over her loud mouth. I live in the neighborhood and will not be coming back. My first visit impressions: atmosphere - just ok, kind of looks like an upscale diner with a bar in it, chairs - not very comfortable(which I would expect in a wine bar), food - good, service - good, price - medium. Our order: fettucine alfredo with shrimp, crab cakes, tomato soup, chicken with marsala sauce(can't remember the name). Crab cakes - good size, good value, but overseasoned, couldn't taste the crab very much with all of the seasoning and sauces on the plate. Tomato soup - serving size small, seasoning not to my liking, but most will probably like it. Fettucine alfredo - excellent, love the fact that it's not drowning in sauce, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Chicken with marsala sauce - very good. Did not like the choice of music and it was too loud, I really don't understand why restaurants want to add music to an already loud environment, but the speaker was right over our table and the music was pretty awful. If you must play music, lower the volume and pick something more relaxing, best to eliminate it altogether. Colleyville really needs a better selection of quality restaurants, and this one fits the bill. Probably would have given it a 3 1/2 if possible, but we'll definitely go back. read more

This is a new restaurant but you wouldn't know it because things run so smoothly. My husband ordered the lamb chops and were very surprised that they were so tender and delicious. I ordered the salmon on a cedar plank and it was the best I've eaten anywhere in the area. The salads with the homemade dressings were too good for words. Can't say enough about this place. I had Salisbury Steak and followed it up with peach cobbler. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, and totally worth the calorie sacrifice! First off, this place is small and the service needs some help, but other than that I recommend stopping in if you live nearby. Nice wine list and our waiter was very helpful in selecting a wine. So far, I have been there 3 times and I enjoyed the food very much. If you like pizza, order the one with ricotta cheese and caramelized onions. A little dry, but very tasty. If you like appetizers, you must order the roasted garlic artichoke dip...fantastic! On to entrees...the chicken marsala and garlic roasted pork loin were wonderful. Cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. If you are looking for a place to meet a friend and have some wine and appetizers, this is a great spot. I wouldn't call it romantic (take out the TV's and maybe), but it would be a nice date spot. You could also just sit at the bar and watch a Ranger game. Went for lunch only three tables being waited on, took awhile for the server I ordered Cubano Panini with chips and ice tea the waiter said the fries were homemade so I changed to the fries. Finally my lunch come out ice tea still has not come it has chips and instead of fries the Panini was cold and it did not looked pressed (oh it wasn't). I really try to frequent local restaurants instead of chains like Trulucks or Bob's. I wish Next had been one that I can keep on the list. I had a bad first outing there a few months ago (I ordered a $250+ bottle of wine 2014 wine; server brought out 2015 and said it would be fine. It was too young. He should have known. Management not concerned when I wrote to them afterward). I guess they have a lot of business because they didn't work too hard to keep mine. I've been meaning to try them again but keep going back to Truluck's because they stand behind their food and drinks and correct any problem right away. read more

My husband had the pork shank with mashed potatoes and bok choy. Both were delicious. We had the rum cake for dessert. My husband liked it, but it had too much of an alcohol taste for me. This place is fantastic! In a sea of chain restaurants, this place is personal, delicious and friendly. I had two great wines, amazing gnocchi and bread pudding. I always appreciate a cream sauce that's full of flavor and not heavy. My co-worker had Caramel gelato that was truly the best I've had!
