OMG! Thank you to my friend for recommending this mom and pop shop. i'll make this quick and shot. Get the Bun Bo Hue. Hands down. So freaking bomb. The flavor of the broth was damn bold and flavorful. i was one happen child when I saw that giant cube of pork's blood in my soup. Nice. Spicy. Delicious. They're also known for their rice cakes, the Banh Beo, in the little individual dishes, as well as their mochi rice cakes with the shrimps inside. You can either get them individually or in a combo plate. We ordered the combo plate where the Banh Beo is already scooped out of the little dishes, I think next time i'll get the one still in the plate. My bf got the yellow noodles? Mi Quang? And thoroughly enjoyed the salad. The dressing in this was very good. It's more of a dry salad with the dipping sauce/dressing on the bottom. There's shrimp, sesame cracker , peanuts, veggies and some other goodies in a bowl. Very refreshing. Overall the meal was around $30 and we were totally stuffed. This is my go-to place when I'm craving for bun bo hue. It gets so busy during the weekends and finding parking in this plaza is horrendous, but the food is worth it! I can eat a good amount of spicy and I feel that the spicy level here is just right for the bun bo hue. The broth is so flavorful and they give the right amount of noodles. It comes in a large portion. What I also enjoy, maybe even more than the bun bo hue, is their banh beo chen. Let it be known that I typically HATE banh beo, but I love the ones they make here! Very reasonably priced legit vietnamese food. Lots of vietnamese food outside the commonly known dish "pho." The bun bo hue is really good here! $8.75 for the large or $7.75 for the small/medium. It wasn't very spicy for me so I'm glad that I was able to add the chili that is available on the table. The broth is very savory and delicious. I couldn't even finish the large bowl because there was so much meat/noodle! They also give you lots of vegetables to add to the soup which makes it an even bigger bowl! You write your name on a paper hanging from the door and wait for your name to be call. You better pay attention cause they would just cross your name off and go to the next person. We got there at 11:30am on a Friday and the wait was about 20 minutes. My parents do not like to wait, however I just told them to walk around and wander around the plaza. We ended up getting egg rolls a couple of doors down. I ended up ordering: Mi Quang-This is the dish that will keep me coming again and again. I think it some kind of yellow noodles with some lettuce on the bottom. With peanuts and shrimp and pork. Iono whatever they mix in there it was delish. The taste that comes with the noodle was good. It had just the right amount of kick of spiciness. I ended up getting the Large, my dad got the small. I didn't finish my large but i'll still end up ordering the large again just to know that I won't run out of it. You really don't want to run out of this. Just to let you know.....I absolutely adore Vietnamese food. It's a shame that this place did not live up to the reviews on yelp. Well the good ones at least ha. The pics uploaded by yelp reviews made it seem like a good place to take my Dad. I love trying new places so I said sure why not. Maybe I hyped it too much based on the stars it received. But yeah, total disappointment. Think the one saving grace was the service as well as the coconut juice. Those fried dumpling looking things are too gummy. This is my second attempt to dine at this restaurant. The first time was a rookie mistake... I stopped by at 8:10pm thinking most Vietnamese restaurants closes at 9pm, but I was wrong.. This restaurant closes at 8pm! Well, I learned my lesson and my boyfriend and I came here at 7pm on a Thursday night. Upon entering, there was a woman who sold mochi desserts (durian, custard, taro, and peanut). There are 4 mochis in each container and they're 2.50 per container. It was actually pretty tasty! Okay, so when we entered, we noticed it wasn't too packed and we were seated immediately. My boyfriend and I both ordered the bun bo hue with less spice! The waitress was extremely nice, informative, and attentive! It did help that I spoke to her in Vietnamese so there was no language barrier. I also wanted to order the banh beo and banh bot luc combo as an appetizer, but she said it'll be too much food for us. I really appreciated her honesty! I've been to sooo many restaurants where they rather up sell you on food than be honest about the portion size and ability to finish it. When we received our food, it was absolutely delicious!! Finally got the chance to go back to try their mi quang. I also got the banh it ram, since fellow yelpers were raving about it. Came on Tuesday for lunch at noon and it was a packed restaurant with a 15 minute wait. The parking lot was also full, so drop someone off to put your name and party number down while you circle the lot for a space. Mi quang was good but it wasn't out of this world good. It came with egg noodles, pork, shrimp, greens, nuts, and a bit of liquid broth. As for the banh it ram, I didn't really enjoy it. It was a very sticky rice dumpling with shrimp and fried. It had way too much of the glutinous rice and not enough of the shrimp filling. Also, one of the banh we got was completely burnt. Should have complained, but didn't. It also took forever for our orders to come out. Felt like it took at least 20 minutes for two small bowls of mi quang and the banh it ram to arrive. This restaurant is located in the Plaza on Magnolia and Westminster. Same Plaza as Teo's Sandwiches, Contego Spa, etc. Parking is quite a hassle. Usually when I go here, there's always a line. But today, no line at 11:30am. They seated us immediately. Although there's no line, the restaurant IS packed. Their Bun Bo Hue is absolutely delicious. It had a kick of spiciness to compliment the soup. If you can't handle spicy, you can tell to not add it in. It comes with variety of meats and veggies on the side if you want to add them in. I usually get a small bowl and it fills me up. Also, their Banh It Ram is good. I can't describe it, but it's like chewy rice cake on top of fried rice cake. Authentic Vietnamese restaurant popular among Vietnamese people. Move aside, pho, it's all about the bun bo hue here. Slightly spicy but distinct pork broth served with a well-simmered pork feet and pork blood. I'm not really a bun bo hue eater, so I tried the banh canh tom cua ( crab meat and shrimp soup). The broth was thick when it first came out, not sure if it's because they add corn starch or because of the type of noodles they use. A little grossed out at first, but the flavor of the soup was great! Not much solid pieces of crab meat though, mostly scraps and shreds that's there to give the soup the flavor. I never post anything about food but on reviews, let me just say, Ngu Binh Restaurant is legit authentic Vietnamese. The owner (Ms. Mai) has always been kind to me, as was her husband (Mr. Tien Dung Nguyen). The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (Bun Bo Hue) with Banh Bot Loc is just fantastic. It is my favorite dish. I made the mistake of trying other places before, by reading the reviews, they all say excellent, but I think most people on reviews don't appreciate authentic cuisine like I do, because they have the palate of a child. I am a big fan of Anthony Bourdain, I see why he loved Vietnam, their cuisine, trying to get a home there as well before he passed. I love Vietnamese food, especially food from Hue (the city my parents are from). My fiance and I came here after we saw all the good reviews on Yelp. First off, this place looks kind of ghetto from the outside, but it was clean and nicely decorated from the inside. A lot better than I expected. We tried the bun bo hue, banh beo/banh bot loc platter, and the banh it ram. The bun bo hue was a little spicy. I think the spiciness over took the flavor so I couldn't really tasted how good it was. All I got was a mouthful of spiciness and overly cooked noodles. The banh beo platter was very nicely put together with the banh beo circling the banh bot loc. Both were good with the fish sauce, which was super yummy I have to say. I just wish the texture of both was a little chewier. Banh it ram is like my favorite Vietnamese dish so I really wanted to like this plate. The serving is big. You could probably get full off the of four of them. The bottom part of it was about an inch thick and I stopped eating because there was just too much of it. The first few bites are very good. If the portion was a little bit smaller, I think I would have enjoyed it more. Overall I would say it was good, but not great. I still love my Hue food from Northern California. read more

There are so many different variations of Bun Bo Hue. Besides my grandma's recipe, I have to look for a restaurant alternative to this dish. Westminster has the endless possibilities. In most places I went to, the soup was bland, or not much of variations of meat in the soup. Ngu Binh definitely makes my ideal flavor of Bun Bo Hue with soup flavor and meats. I am a veggie lover as well, so I add almost all the lettuce, beansprouts, and cabbage (it helps to cut some freshness in this meat based soup). I am on the verge to try their banh beo and banh nem. It looks delicious from the table over. Ngu Binh is one of my Westminster favorites, I highly recommend coming here for Bun Bo Hue, and will leave my thoughts on anything else I will try. read more

We ordered a BBH and the famous Banh Beo dishes for 2 and it was so much food. The BBH is a spicy beef broth with tons of flavor. I loved the thicker noodles they used here. I did not taste a lot of MSG as I know some places would have a ton of that. Their banh beo was delicious and you pour a bit in each of your mini dishes. I thought it was fantastic and my bf who wasn't initially a fan of it loved it in the end. The place did get a bit more modernized and bigger. The most standard dish to get here is bun bo hue. My family is from LA so when we go to OC, my dad always takes it sister and me here just for their delicious bun bo hue. I think the portion sizes are decent but I don't agree with my dad when he says it's the best place because I've had better (but this place comes pretty darn close).
