I give Nicely's credit for being what seems the only restaurant in Lee Vining when Tioga Pass is not open. It's nothing special but gets the job done, especially when you're beat from a long day of hiking or skiing. Friendly staff as well. read more

I wouldn't eat here again. We stopped off here on a road trip because of the good reviews. But the service was terrible. We got seated and it took about 30 minutes to just get water. I don't think anyone in my party of 4 liked their meal either. read more

Fried chicken with French fries were great. Service was good and ambience was very small town. Rolls were soft and fresh.

The waitress we got was rude her exact words to us when we were confused when ordering were, "Hurry up, I have a full restaurant to serve." When obviously it was not full and there were other servers available. I was not satisfied with this service whatsoever, if I was not as hungry as I was I would have gotten up and walked out. Yup it's the only place during off season. Service was okay. It's a diner so we ordered burgers and they make them and they were decent with good fries. The salad was pretty good, nothing fancy but good. The ranch tasted like it was made it and not bottled which was really good. read more

We ate breakfast there. The food was very good, the portions were generous. (Pancakes are 8" diameter. Couldn't eat all of the side order of hash browns.) Service was ok. Took our order, never brought the water we requested, but our food came pretty quickly. Would go back. Oh, and the oldies music was fun. read more

We stop here for breakfast this morning and had a nice time. We had the country Benedict with biscuits and gravy and hash browns. Are over medium eggs were cooked a little too much but everything else was wonderful. The staff is friendly and courteous and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend. read more

For being called "Nicely's," the service was far from nice. No smile or "hello" when we walked in, just pushed to a table. None of the staff was friendly. When we tried to split the bill in half, our waitress rolled her eyes at us and started helping another customer instead. The only thing we enjoyed was the food. As the only restaurant in town to stay open in the winter season it is hard to find fault with this place. The food is basic fare, not great but certainly not poor. I regret their use of margarine and "fake" sour cream, the portions were ample but the frozen vegetables mentioned by Leo C. were still being served. I had a hamburger steak with gravy which was OK. The raspberry pie ala mode was quite good. For breakfast the following morning I had a good if not great Denver omlett and some excellent pancakes, unfortunately with margarine and imitation maple syrup - still very enjoyable. I would eat there again. The coffee was OK, perhaps good. Nice folks and good service. read more

I stopped at Nicely's after a trip to Yosemite. The prices were fair and the environment was a throwback to the 50's. The food was good and the waitress check-in periodically. I'd stop by again on my trip to the area. read more

There aren't many spots to eat breakfast in Lee Vining. One thing that turned us off is when we walked in and got seated all of the staff were speaking Spanish. It was very annoying, since I have no idea if they are badmouthing us behind our backs or what. A very unpleasant experience. They need to change the picture on the back of their t-shirts to properly reflect who is working there. Prices were also high for what you get. read more

Great fried chicken. I have eaten here at least once a year on our annual fishing treks for many years. The people have always been very friendly and work hard to satisfy their customers. The food is prepared with care and tastes like it. After all, that is what it's all about. read more

Nicely's is an old-school diner type of restaurant. The staff was very friendly. Ordered the turkey dinner (very good) and a turkey burger which was decent. Not a lot of gluten free options unless you eat the burgers without the buns, etc. read more

Went to Bridgeport to see what was there. Not overall impressed, we drove to Bodie for a few hours visit of the old ghost mining town. On our way towards home, we came into Lee Vining and saw Nicely's sign and decided to give them a try. Inside, the atmosphere was diner-style and moderately busy. Aroma of grill cooking and deep fry were pleasant, furthering our appetites. Waiter was very courteous as well as the other staff. We both had a burger plate with fries and onion rings, fountain soda drinks and water. The food was excellent, plentiful and satisfying. For dessert, we split a plate of homemade Bread Pudding, topped with sauce and whipped cream.... YUMM!!!!! Prices are reasonable and with our tummies full and happy, we continued toward home. We will definitely stop at Nicely's in Lee Vining, CA. anytime we pass that way again, even if just for coffee ... and maybe breakfast or lunch, etc. etc. read more

Our family of four went for an early dinner at 4pm. There weren't very many places to choose from, so we ended here. I got greasy sandwich, which made me feel awful afterward. The WORST! Horrible! Do not waste your time, appetite or money here! We made a quick stop in town to pick up something to go. A couple of our group came here, because it was the nearest place. The only waitress who seemed to be working, seemed very "put out" to help us. I wanted protein and only eat chicken, so it was the chicken sandwich or special " 1/2 fried chicken". I didn't want bread and the special came with salad, so I asked if it were lightly or heavily fried with a heavy coating. She looked at me with a 'Duh' face and said, "It's friiiieeed". Asked if it would take long because we were in a hurry, and she seemed so annoyed with the very question. So, I just ordered it. When it came time to pay, the front register had a line because the cashier couldn't make her charge card reader work. I was paying cash, so I made the mistake of going back to the back counter where I'd seen "our waitress" checking people out. She, AGAIN, seemed annoyed and "put out" when I asked if I could pay there, but said, "yes", with a heavy sigh! My check was $12.43, and I PURPOSELY took out a $20 and 43 cents, because I wanted to break the bill and get rid of the coins. She handed me back $3 and quickly walked away. I called her back, told her the problem and she immediately got angry and incensed (I think the lady protests too much?), claiming I had given her a $5 and a $10, which I didn't even HAVE!! I asked why she didn't leave the bill on top of the register until the transaction was completed, and she said, "I usually do...". (Yes, and...?...Nothing.) Seeing she wasn't going to budge, and not wanting to keep my group waiting, I started to walk away, but was pissed about being cheated and returned. I asked if I could give her my name and address, then when the drawer was counted and $5 short, they could send it to me. She said, "NO". I said could you count the drawer now? "No". She said "the only think we could do is get the manager, pull the videos and check them, but that will take time", WHICH I had TOLD her in the beginning I didn't have. What a coincidence! But that wasn't even the worst of it. To add insult to the injury, when I got in the car and opened the container, I found chicken SO deeply fried that the coating was hard as a rock. I pealed what I could off the breast, but the leg and thigh were like rocks through and through. Intentional??? The fries looked like the frozen Oreida thick crinkle cut type, and tasted like they'd just been stuck in a microwave. I ended up throwing the whole thing out! Three bites of chicken breast for $20!!! AND, my friend had gone the other direction and found a little convenience store place that had fresh roasted chicken for $4.25, and said it was moist, savory and delicious!!!! Super bummed! read more
