Not as good as I had hoped. First, We had a table in a small back room where we were completely cut off from the main part of the restaurant. But I could live with that if the rest of the experience was up to par. Unfortunately this was not the case. The server we had was very inconsistent. In the beginning she stopped by way too much, but once the main course was served she disappeared entirely. There were 4 of us and we all ordered beef, as one is inclined to do at a steakhouse; 3 filets and a bone in sirloin strip. We also ordered mashed potatoes and asparagus to share. My filet was definitely over cooked, having ordered it med rare and it was medium at best, mostly med well. Our server never checked back to ask how our meal was so I ended up eating what I should have returned. The quality of the meat was also disappointing, having a grainy shredded quality when cut into and not especially tender. The strip steak however was excellent, and the sides were good as well. The wine list was overpriced but had some good variety, and there were also some nice cocktails. The most frustrating part was it took the entire time we were eating and an additional 25 minutes after we were finished before we saw our server again. She asked if we wanted dessert. We decided to think about it for a minute but unfortunately it took her another 15 minutes to come back. At this point we decided to ask for the check rather than spend what was likely to be another hour sitting at the table. If our server had been more attentive during the meal we would have very likely ordered a second bottle of wine as well as dessert. Overall an overpriced disappointing experience. read more

It is very nice inside. I had the chicken, it was fair at best. I barely ate it. Maybe 5 bites of the chicken. The potatoes and sides with it reminded me of a breakfast side. The Brussels sprouts were inedible. My daughter got clam chowder and said it was too spicy for her (very peppered aftertaste). My husband tried to order the Ny strip, but they were out so he got the porterhouse, which was well seasoned and cooked to his liking but a lot more than the NY Strip. He also got truffle fries, which were lovely. I think they should have at least comped the clam chowder and/or have a small credit from the NY Strip vs porterhouse pricing. read more

I have been watching the renovations go on for months. We could wait to go to the opening! Lucky to get reservations...was very busy! I am handicapped and they only have two handicapped parking spaces which were full, sadly. so walked with my cane, I have MS and walking is very difficult. but they have a great ramp for ease of entrance. Our five oz steak was delicious and cooked to perfection and my seared scallops were perfect. Drinks were great. But, it is NYC pricing! They gave us bread plates, but when we asked for bread, we were told they had none...hadn't decide on what to serve?!? They only had one dessert...a mini cheesecake with mango sauce! Not impressive for an opening night at all! We wish them luck but the effort was not made to make it special. AND, when we got home and looked at the charges...the five ounce steak was overcharged by 8 dollars, we didn't catch that before we split the bill! so, be careful to look at your bill before giving them a credit card! The food was superb - excellent quality across the board ! Steak was top quality ! We went last Saturday which was the second day that it was opened ! The service was spot on & the staff was going the extra mile to make sure the food & service were a 12 on 10 point scale ! We wish them all best ! My boyfriend made surprise reservations here for Valentine's Day. Calm chowder was one of the best we've ever tasted. Started with complementary pretzel bites with cheese dip sause. Very yummy. Also split the bacon appetizer and NY sirloin. No room for dessert, but the slices of cakes with enormous. Phenomenal atmosphere and service. The food and service at Nick's is fantastic! My wife and I visited for our anniversary to give this great new restaurant a try and we can't wait to go back! We started off with a couple of cocktails, the shrimp cocktail (4 HUGE shrimp!), and the prosciutto/Mozzarella/Arugula appetizer. They also bring little pretzel bites with beer cheese to your table to start nibbling on. We both got the 8oz filet mignon, one with truffle butter and the other Oscar style with huge chucks of crab meat and bearnaise sauce over asparagus. Sides of creamed kale and horseradish mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection! Nick stopped by our table at the end to see how everything was and introduce himself. I've eaten in the bar twice now, and I've been very impressed. First, the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I've had the burger both times, and it's not your average burger. It's definitely one of my favorites. The French onion soup was also a standout, and the whiskey list is quite extensive. I'm hoping to go back soon for a proper steak dinner. This is a hidden gem. The staff is amazing and so friendly. Gabe at the bar was super helpful and knowledgeable about the huge selection. We met the owner Holly who told us the real cool story of the custom Makers mark bottles for the bar...so damn good. We then met with Abby who delivered an amazing ribeye with cheese butter dinner with asparagus with hollandaise, truffle Mac and cheese. We finished the dinner with a port and eagle rare along with raspberry lemon cake from sandpiper. This was one of the best East coast meal we have ever had. The bourbon flights looked amazing, but not in the cards...this time. read more

We went there for my daughter's birthday knowing that it was going to be very expensive. The atmosphere was very nice. The waitress was very phony nice, you could tell she found that being pleasant was very hard for her to do. By the time you order a steak along with something good to put on top and split apps and veggies with the table you're going to spend $100 per person. That doesn't include cocktails. I don't drink so I ordered some coffee, big mistake. The waitress got this very peeved look on her face and informed me in no uncertain terms that they do not serve coffee. If my daughter had not driven us there I would have gone across the street and gotten my coffee and brought it back to the restaurant. I believe that serving coffee and having a restroom should go hand in hand in any restaurant. All in all the food was good,not great. I like to splurge on special occasions but I will find another place to do that in the future! read more

Myself and two cousins went to Nick's Steakhouse last night. Despite having no reservations, we were seated promptly in their gorgeous outdoor dining area. The waitress was sweet and very attentive. The food was beyond delicious -- my cousins both ordered steaks, which they said were delicious and cooked to perfection, I had the triple berry salad which was hands down the best salad I have ever had. The owner Nick came and spoke with us as we were eating, and again as we were leaving. He was an absolute delight and made us feel like we were old friends. Went to Ogunquit for the weekend and on our way home we stopped at Nick's Steakhouse. Awesome food, huge bourbon selection, and very kind staff. I had the filet, perfectly cooked medium rare and my wife had the halibut which she loved. I tried Russel's Reserve 13 and Nick's barrel pick of Maker's Mark, both were fantastic. We talked with the owner for a bit about the barrel selection process, super nice guy. Definitely worth the stop if you're up that way. We will certainly go back next time we're in Maine. read more

Highly recommend this place! It's been open 5 weeks and service and food outstanding! Steaks are top notch! My wife and I had the filets and they were cooked perfectly. The Brussel Sprouts are to die for! Wedge salad was crisp, cool and wonderful dressing and toppings. Finished off with flourless chocolate cake. Atmosphere is simple but elegant. Our first visit to Nick's was soon after they first opened last year. It wasn't a great experience at that time but we chalked it up to wrinkles they would eventually iron out. We recently gave the restaurant another chance but it still left us disappointed. For a steakhouse they should be able to perfect an 8oz. filet, but the one my wife ordered was very dry. When she asked the bartender for a butter sauce for the steak, she was handed several pads of cold butter. Pads of cold butter?!?!? I could place the blame on the kitchen (they do bare some responsibility), but I think the bar staff is ultimately to blame. Not only did they think it was acceptable to give us cold butter, but they didn't ask if it was okay. Their overall lack of attentiveness throughout the night was the biggest shortcoming. For the prices they're charging, the wait staff/bar staff has to provide an experience. We were left constantly moving our dishes/glasses so the wait staff could jam in our food. Granted the bar has limited space, but their staff would know this already and should clear space before they bring out our meals. The customer shouldn't be put in a position to do the wait staff's job. After our meal was done we waited for a long time before I finally had to ask the bartender to clear our plates, but for some reason she only cleared mine. They were seemingly distracted despite the fact there were only 2 other people in the bar area. In my experience, a lack of detail is ultimately a management issue. If my review seems to indicate I'm hard to please, far from it. I was a server and bartender myself and know the value of attentiveness. Its simple: the happier the customer, the more likely they return (good for restaurant) and better the tips (good for wait/bar staff). I don't mind spending the prices Nick's charges, but high prices come with higher expectations. Unfortunately this restaurant wasn't able to meet ours. read more

Stopped by to take a look at their menu. This place is clearly out of line with this area. The prices are very steep - some even higher than Ruth's Chris in Boston. Steaks are ala carte running about $60 and up. Prices for sides are astronomical - $12 for a baked potato; $12 for Brussels Sprouts?? I figured it would easily cost my wife and myself somewhere in the vicinity of $272 for two steak dinners with a salad, a couple of sides, a drink and a tip. The food may be very good. But as I said, the prices are clearly out of line with this area. read more

Wanted to go out early for a New Year's toast. We knew it would be crowded later and that it was a holiday, so we showed up right at the opening time of 4 pm. The bar is small, but there were 5 empty seats. Unfortunately, we were told that the seats were reserved by someone who came in and claimed them and then left. Most bar restaurants let you reserve tables, but not bar seats...and not so many. There were 5 ghosts sitting at the bar and no room for our party of two. We left and went to the Ship Cellar, which had no room at the bar, either, but at least we didn't feel badly about it an there were real people in the seats. We ended up at Lobster Cove, and it ended up being great. We had the ocean view until the sun went down and even though it was a holiday and a Saturday, they still had Happy Hour. (We didn't expect that at all) We ended up saving a lot of money on our drinks and apps and were treated warmly by the staff and others at the bar. What happened at Nick's reminded me of when you stay at a resort and people put towels down on the chaise lounges early, but go elsewhere for the day and come sit in their reserved seats later on. read more
