I got to Nicky's at a good time for dinner, somewhat early around 6 on a Friday. You order at the register in the front. Then you pick your own table. It was very crowded when we left tho. The line was wrapped around the front section of the restaurant. Everything about my visit to Nicky's was great. Service was good. My drink was tasty. My pizza was amazing. I ordered the Hey Paisano. I especially loved the honey on it. I'm a sucker for honey on pizza. The honey was not spicy though, as it says on the menu. I can't believe this is the first time trying this place! Located in the heart of the nations. We went for our annual Christmas date night since they were doing "saint Nicky's" where it's decked out in Christmas decor. We snagged a spot at the bar so we didn't have to wait in line which I believe you order at the register then they seat you? That I am not too huge of a fan on but is what it is. Service at the bar was impeccable. Our server was sweet as could be and very attentive! We started with the garlic bread which was 10/10 and was the perfect thing to curb our pizza craving without having to commit to a whole pizza. Next we had Mama Gs meat balls with focaccia and they were incredible. The pasta was the only downside to this meal. Tasted like canned bolognese. It was the Christmas tree pasta so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that it's just this pasta that was off but for $28 it was incredibly unimpressive. Would avoid. St. Nicky's is hands down my favorite new holiday tradition for our annual girls trip! It's such a fun and festive event, and perfect for a group! The first time we came was last year, and it was even better this year. We especially loved the pizza box tree, and the sweater wall is a must! I got the mushroom pizza, which was delicious, and my favorite cocktail was the blitzen espresso martini (duh ) I was caught up in the fun and only tried my own food, but everyone enjoyed what they ordered and it all looked wonderful! I would probably go with pepperoni next time just to mix things up. We made sure we arrived early so the line wasn't super long when we got there, and the staff was sooooo friendly the whole time. I think the only downside was that we went on a day that the tiki bar wasn't open, but it wasn't really the reason for our visit anyway. Nicky's pizza is pretty good. Actually very good. I appreciate their inclusiveness for all her friendly guests. Their vegan pizza is truly a gift every time I have it. I've heard that the pastas are nice too, but I haven't been able to try them yet. I definitely will continue to come back! My only thorn is that I do not enjoy the style of service. I always feel awkward when I dine in. I wait in line, order everything at once, tip, and then am walked to my table. It just feels kind of Disney world to me, and I try to get past it, but it's not a vibe I enjoy spending on my night off. I understand that this may be their short term standard, or what works for them best, but I am hoping for a standard table service next time I'm in! read more

We walked in at 5:45 on a Friday and was told a 45 minute wait. Ended up waiting about 10 minutes before being offered a spot at the bar, which was great because that is more my style. Food was out in a timely manner, especially for how busy it was. I wasn't in a rush and I wanted to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. It is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing pizza oven. Bartenders were very busy but still held their own in waiting on people at the bar. The food was very good, not amazing, but very good. They have a good size menu so I'll be back to try more. Star of the show: focaccia bread that came with the meatballs. Very good: margherita pizza with crushed red pepper, meatballs. What could've been better: white pizza with mushroom (this is a matter of opinion--I'm not super into mushrooms and while it was a good pie, maybe just a few less would've been better for my palate. Once again, just my preference). The sauce with meatballs was just a little too sweet for my liking. It's still very good. Great spot, everyone was working hard on a busy Friday night. Went here for the first time on 8/3/23. We were in Nashville and met friends who had driven down from Lexington, Kentucky. Between us we had 3 pizzas, a Big Salad, a pasta with scallops along with various beverages. You order and pay at this establishment when you first walk in, are provided a number for your table, and they bring the food to your table when it's ready. Service was quick and attentive. Food was good, not fantastic, but good solid tasty food. A bargain was Peroni Beer on tap for only $3. Overall, nice experience but felt a little rushed to vacate as they were taking away our plates almost before we could finish eating. You could tell they wanted to turn the table over to other customers. Meeting friends from out of town we would've preferred a bit more time to converse, but didn't really have that opportunity here. I've purchased from Nicky's several times. I have gotten an array of things. Pizza, meatballs and bagels. The pizza was ok. It wasn't the worst, it wasn't the best. It maybe needed a bit more cheese. The coal kiss taste to the pizza was pleasant. The meatballs were amazinggggg. So good. I haven't had meatballs that good in a very very long time. I really enjoyed them. They were large, moist and flavorful. The bagels ... they were very hyped I think. I'm also married to a New Yorker so I know a thing or two about bagels. These weren't it for me. Is a good bagel for the area? Probably. But the out side was little to crispy the inside was a little too chewy. The strawberry rhubarb cream cheese lacked in flavor. It makes me miss the east coast. Been wanting to try this place for a long time, but it's a "one and done" for me. To go ordering experience is poor. Long process to order online (have to create an account) and they do not accept phone orders. Then, the online ordering has a tracker. It told us our pizza (We only ordered one pizza) would be ready 45 minutes after we ordered (which is unusually long as other local pizza places are max 30 mins). Then, the app told us it was ready 20 minutes before predicted. So we drove over to pick it up (15 minute drive). Upon arrival, we were told it would be another 10 minute wait. After 10 minutes had lapsed, we were told another 10 more minute wait. During entire encounter, staff was really rude. Long story short food is OK, reasonably priced, but it will take overfor you to get your pizza, one pizza. Not sure how long a bigger order would be. read more

The summer menu has a delicious burrata caprese. My only complaint is that the happy hour deals are always changing and not posted online. We noticed Nicky's while heading into Southern Grist a few doors down. They Open at 5 most everyday and the smell did lure us to a at least check out a menu. The greeter was pleasant to allow me to check out the menu and answer a few questions and even let me take a menu back to huddle with my wife to decide. I have heard of quite a few wood or brick oven pizza joints but this one is coal. Well it was a good sign that about 4 other parties at Grist had ordered pizza as well. We opted for the margherita pie adding on pepperoni and mushrooms. And a Wisconsin (Wisco) cheese nibble small plate. The front end manager assured me they would walk it down for us. Cheese was nice to snack on between beers and pizza was great all around a thinner style pizza with great crispy crust. My wife and I struggled NOT to just smash the whole pie but it was too delish to settle. The inside of the place looked like a chill vibe. We were pleasantly surprised at this place. We don't typically go to places where you order at the counter, but once you sat down, it gave you a typical restaurant feel. We ordered the Hey Paisono pizza, gnocchi, and butternut squash ravioli. It was all amazing! I enjoyed every bite. The pizza was one of the best I've had. The pasta and gnocchi were cooked perfectly al dente. We moved here 6 months ago and this is the first restaurant we will definitely go back. This place did not disappoint. When traveling to Nashville recently we were looking for a good place to grab dinner outside of the bustle of Broadway. Nicky's Coal Fired came up as a Google option and we decided to give it a go. We were happy with the decision. We decided to grab an early dinner so we arrived to the restaurant around 5pm. Thankfully we came early because the place was completely booked with reservations starting at 6:45pm. We ordered a coal fired margarita pizza and the baked cheese ravioli pasta to share. The dough was delicious and it was near to see the cooks tossing it in the air in preparation prior to baking. The pasta was great as well, and was served in a dish that wasn't piping hot, which is perfect in my opinion because that means it wasn't just sitting under a heat lamp! Really cool place. We were in town for the weekend and found this place in a write up about Nashville food. They take reservations, but we were able to be seated without one because we went pretty early on a Monday night. We had the margarita pizza which was awesome. We really like fired pizza, and this did not disappoint. We also had the stuffed rigatoni. Which was good, but the pizza was where it was at in our opinion. Service was great and there was parking in a lot right around the building. The building is kind of cool because it's connected to a couple other options. Probably really neat in the warmer weather months (we went in January). If you want something different than bbq or hot chicken, this is a solid option. read more

I'd give it ten stars if I could. This is a great restaurant but it's also more. We've been here dozens of times and it's always great. I love the Paisano pizza with their house made hot honey. I am always torn between that and their bolognese. But it's the energy of the place, the staff, and their attitudes, that makes this place so stand out great. Important notes: they have a kids menu. You order at the counter and then sit. The food comes daily quickly. They are good with allergies and dietary restrictions. It might be possible that then also have the best waitstaff and people of any restaurant in Nashville. I cannot say enough about them. This past week we met a waiter named Elliott and he's a true gem. My son was too shy to speak to him and they eventually struck up a great conversation about Pokémon. Well, this is my first and last time to ever come to Nicky's Coal Fired,, Holly Heaven , 3 pizzas and a plate of pasta for $150.75 what a experience with No alcohol drinks. , It was me and wife and a solder who just got back from a deployment. We were to enter @ 5 pm their opening time , we 've been greeted and attended by a server who was nice with us , we ordered 2 pizzas , a pasta plat and a salat with Chicken , while were choosing what to eat we did mention one other pizza, but we then clearly said to our service we don't want it, we will stick with 2 pizzas we ordered. First the salad came out within 10 minutes , then one pizza after 15 minutes and then the 2nd. Pizza came out after another 10 minutes , what was astonishing was they brought us a third one after 15 minutes, the servers suspected that we didn't mean to order a third one where did this come from, He felt that there has been a misunderstanding in taking the order.,, we said the third one was the one ordered by my wife and she wanted to try it. Honestly speaking the pizzas were good but not supper like a Napolitan gourmet pizza. Long story short, I asked for the check and ,,, wow it was like Chicago and New York bills $150 and NO alcohol included, what really upsets me was there was a mandatory Service charge of 18% equaling to $21.24 that will be paid whether we like it or not.
