Traditional Gyro and Greek-ified Sprite made with sugar instead of HFCS

I stopped in during a trip to the Saturday market in the village. This appears as a convenient location. There are three picnic size tables out front, but be aware on a hot weekend, the garbage smell may linger due to the location. For the food: we ordered a traditional gyro. The meat was flavorful but the gyro overall was lacking on the other ingredients. It needed more of the refreshing crunch (lettuce/onion) but did have enough sauce. As for the price, it felt a bit high considering it was a stand alone item. I can give credit that perhaps being right next to the village maybe the rents are high. Another +1 for how quick the food came out, but the staff were not welcoming or friendly in anyway. Kind of a bummer, but will definitely give another chance because everyone has their day. I did note that some folks at the other table had orders of salads and possibly a platter - they looked like healthy portions and down right delicious. I will be back with an update before the end of summer, and hopefully can incorporate this into my regular take out schedule. It has potential!

I have been enjoying Nikos for years. They are always kind and food is fresh and plentiful. This evening I went in and had a halibut gyro for 10 dollars! I also really enjoy their lemon/ rice soup, gyro salad and lamb.

Haven't found better Greek food anywhere in Seattle. Fresh food, great flavor, and an Avgolemono soup that's superb.

Highly recommend the three dip (current seasons is beet and it's my fav) with the flat bread. The flat bread comes out steaming. Trumpet mushroom is Smokey and juicy. Lamb comes in braised form and kebab both really good The soft serve swirl has the perfect texture and flavor. Would come back again!

However after we expressed that we didn't want to wait that long, we were told that if we wanted outdoor seating they could actually seat us in less than half an hour. We chose the outdoor seating option and took a quick stroll in the quiet neighborhood before coming back. Our server told us that Homer's plates are meant to be family style and shared so their general recommendation is 1 large plate or 2 small plates per person. For us, we ordered the Set of top 3 spreads, lamb ragu on tahini and we were served with 5 pieces of warm pita. We also ordered Grilled Pork with Stinging nettles, raw albacore tuna with taramasalata, and smoked and shaved kohlrabi. Our server warned us that the pork was going to be on the fatty side but we were still surprised by how fatty it was. The spreads for the pita were amazing as usual-- their seasonal flavors taste amazingly fresh. Our table wanted to order more pita and when someone came by to take the empty plate they asked if we wanted more which we did let them know but even by the time we finished all the plates, we never got the additional pita so we just took it off. The Kohlrabi was an amazingly refreshing palette cleanser before the pork-- super light and refreshing. After we finished our meal we grabbed some soft serve from the window and wow, for 7$ it's quite a lot of ice cream! The flavors that were offered when we were there was Dark Chocolate and Kettlekorn. I sampled the swirl and the fusion of the saltiness of the kettle korn, the slight bitter and sweetness of the dark chocolate was immaculate. Final thoughts: very cool experience, inside I could see the open kitchen and the stone wood fired oven and the ingredients tasted amazing. However it is a little inconvenient that it's walk in unless you're a party of 6 since the lines and wait can get incredibly long. It's also difficult to find parking in the area. Very neat experience!

I got a build-my-own saj wrap with the mushroom base saj $6, sumac chicken $7, tomato $1.5, cucumber $1.5, pickled turnip $1, and a side of hot sauce $2. The saj bread itself tasted good, but got soaked through by the juice of the chicken and became very soggy. We walked to a park 10 minutes away to eat the wraps and the wraps were bending. The ingredients are fresh but nothing particularly stood out. I didn't quite taste the mushroom on the wrap, and on top of that, I got charged $2 for the hot sauce, but never tasted it in the wrap or found it on the side. My partner got the falafel saj wrap which was overall ddcent, but he also found the saj bread quite soggy, yet the falafels were on the dry side.

The signature saj bread is cooked fresh on a hot stone and is almost like a Middle Eastern flour tortilla with the way it's super thin and satisfyingly chewy bite. The only seating options are a few large benches on the sidewalk, but there's a poster saying you're welcome to sit at the neighboring bar which opens in the late afternoon provided you purchase a drink as well. Ended up sampling 3 of their wrap options and the Zaatar Wrap was deliciously nutty and fragrant, but texturally there was so many herbs that the center ate a little dry. The Lahme Khuruf (Lamb) was my favorite by far with super juicy ground meat with some tang from the labneh, sweetness, freshness from the tomato, and texture from the pine nuts. Absolute home run on this one! The Awarma and Cheese was a close second, but personally, the flavor profile was just a little less interesting than the lamb. Tip: grab some extra napkins as the wraps can fall apart a bit at the end!
