Ninja Sushi is my second go-to in the Waipio/Waikele area in terms of take-out. I usually order from Genki Sushi, but my phone call never went through (even after three calls). They missed out on a $50+ order, but that's okay, we visited Ninja Sushi as my family was craving sushi. Ordered a few items off the menu: the ahi lovers, two teri chicken, and a sakura bento. So-so price for the amount of food that we received. Waiting for the take-out took FOREVER (20 minutes+), but no matter, we were still hungry and needed food fuel! When our order was called, I decided last minute that I wanted to get a drink to-go, and the cashier gave it to me on the house due to the long wait - so generous! The food itself tasted okay, but not top notch sushi as expected. The spicy ahi in my bento was a bit stringy and the food that was supposed to be hot was luke warm, and the cold food was luke warm as well. May or may not chance going back to Ninja Sushi at this location, but the customer service here was wonderful! Kind and attentive, could one ask for better service?! read more

I really like the curry here. It's better than Genki, Sumo, and others IMHO. My daughter's favorite is the udon. She also likes it better than other ramen places. It must be the broth. The Waipio location has menu items that other locations don't. They have spam udon and chicken katsu. Make sure to call ahead though. The katsu sells out quite frequently. Chicken katsu curry is yummy though. The only thing I don't like is the price here. The food is really good. But for $7-$9 there are lots of options for dinner. The portions are on the small side too. Don't expect to get full for $10 here. Other than that, the food is tasty. read more

First time eating at a Ninja Sushi. The menu has a lot of choices. We ordered the spicy ahi donburi and a Sapporo Nigiri Bento. Both had good quantities of fish, no skimping and the prices are very reasonable. The service was friendly and fast. The seating area was clean and comfortable. Ok so I posted a review on foursquare a while back and it basically said the food is good but definitely sub-par customer service. The workers seem more interested in their personal conversations and/or loud music. I've also waited more than 25 minutes for an order during a peak period. A few times, I've attempted to visit and they CLOSED early. I sat outside and one of the kids answered the phone and said they're closed already. This happened twice. Seems like they cutting back. Got a dragon roll which looked like they took leftover pieces of eel and half of it wasn't covered. Donbori bowl is only about 2/3 size of foodland or tamuras. Smaller than before. I question if i should return again. read more

This location has good customer service, they're always friendly. They have really good ika rings with wasabi mayo, I wish we got a large order. It was made to order crunchy yet the ika was tender. They also still have Kalbi on the menu and Tonkatsu, in addition to the regular varieties of sushi. We went there yesterday but I think we'll get dinner from there tonight. read more

In general, I love the Ninja Sushi brand because a) They put together great dishes and b) I'd like to picture my food being made by Asian assassins who can kill me but instead choose to make me sushi. The whole ordeal of ordering just feels so dangerous each and every single time. I just got back from ordering at the Ka Uka location and as I write this review, I'm eating my Superman roll. I get Superman all the time-- it's basically my innate choice when I've been standing in front of the menu for too long -- so I've come to expect a certain taste to it. For this reason, I'm sitting here a bit confused. When I initially put this version of Superman in my mouth, I got a rubbery texture and taste that just didn't agree with me. At first, I spit out a piece of rubbery nori and thought, "Well, seaweed might have that kind of texture." Then I spit out some stale shavings of fried potato toppings. After spitting out a piece of rubbery fish, I started questioning whether I accidentally ordered the "The Scuba Suit" instead of the "Superman." So, I'm down to my last piece and not satisfied. Added to that, I bought my boyfriend a teriyaki chicken donburi and received a tiny bowl of rice, chicken, and a pile of onions. Not worth $17 at all (Yes, that was the total.) At this point, I'm thinking that I'm just going to dissect this thing CSI style and figure out why it was not worth my money. I gave it two stars because this rating is equivalent to "Meh. Tiger Maki. YUM. I really should try more of their sushi, but the Tiger Maki is my favorite. I've been to another Ninja location (I already wrote my review) but I have to say, that I prefer the Tiger Maki at this location. It seems like they give a little more spicy tuna on the top and the roll is bigger. The location is very convenient as it's right next to Costco, so you can always go take care of your shopping after a great sushi meal. The customer service is very good. We call in our orders a lot but when we do order in the store, the food comes out quickly. Glad I have this place to satisfy my sushi cravings. :) read more

I usually get the tofu salad because I'm a fan of the dressings it comes with. One is wasabi based and the other is sweet with some heat. The salad is meant to be dipped into the dressing. I think they need consistency when they create the salad because sometimes the salad comes with won ton chips and other times not. read more

WTH right... so I call and the girl who answers the phone tells me its normal to find those things in it... ummmmm "normal???" Geez. I wish this were a good review but it's not. Hopefully this will save you sushi lovers from being disappointed. I've gone to the Waipio location multiple times and I'd say more than half the time there's something gross about the sushi. I keep going back once in a while thinking maybe they've got it right but I'm mostly wrong. So out of all the times I've gone, the ahi poke definitely does not look or taste fresh. It's a rare occasion that it tastes fresh. Today I spent $13 on sushi and all the rice was so incredibly mushy it was a glob like rice cake. It was so gross I finally had to write a review. I hope they can use this review to get better at rolling quality sushi. This was my final draw and won't be going back. read more

Always came to this location but never did a review for it until now. With all the reviews saying they have bad customer service, I can see that they've been improving and working on it. Although I was not greeted at the door, the cashier was friendly when she took my order. I was taking photos of the menu and the cashier probably noticed, so she started greeting other customers that came in after me. No big deal. I dined in and when I got my food, she gladly told me to let her know if I needed anything else. Ordered the soft shell crab and Superman maki-mono while my sister had the spam sushi (basically a musubi). I really enjoyed the soft shell crab roll, delicious. Superman was good as usual. My sister had a bit of trouble eating her spam sushi because the rice wasn't packed tight enough. She ended up having to use a fork but she still seemed satisfied with it. Didn't finish all of my sushi so I had to go ask for a bag. I came up to the counter and without asking she kindly goes "do you need a bag?" And gives me one. We left without a thank you but hey, she must've been a bit busy since it picked up for lunch, so I didn't mind. I usually like nigiri (rice with fish on top), but don't think theirs is as fresh so, I'll go somewhere else for that. Overall I'll still come back here when I'm craving for sushi rolls. read more

When I'm craving sushi on the way home to Mililani, I'm glad this location is pretty much right off the highway. Beats having to make my way into Mililani town. This location usually isn't too busy, but has some great sushi for fast food. It's a bit pricey, but I like the selection they have. My favorite here is probably the superman maki, which you should definitely get if you like tuna! I also really like most of their menu, even the non-sushi items are pretty good (hint, the fried chicken). Overall, this place is a great stop for sushi if you're looking for a quick bite. It's a lot different from most of the other small, fast food sushi places you'll see. read more

Quality of the fish is bad. The Ahi nigiri was terrible, it was dry, & it tasted like it had freezer burn. The spicy ahi nigiri was terrible too, it had big pieces of round onions which that didn't tasted right. Knowing this place is kinda pricey you would think the fish would be Fresher. (Big mistake) cause it wasn't. Very upsetting!!!! Never coming back again. Not even for a platter or anything for a special occasion until you guys get fresher fish. Ripping people off with that. Come here pretty often as its near my house. My kids love the shrimp udon. Must say the broth is super good (better than Ramen Ya just a few doors down). My favorites are the spicy ahi salad, Ninja Pac 2 and superman roll. The fish is always fresh. The service is always good as well. I always enjoy going to Ninja Sushi at the Waipio location. This is my favorite sushi place to go for lunch. The sushi is very tasty and fresh and the Poke is one of the best I've ever eaten. I've gone to Ninja many times after my work shift and it never disappoints. My favorite things to get are the rainbow roll and Poke Bento. This was my first experience with this restaurant. I ordered California rolls to take out. I actually called from Costco just after checking out. It was ready when I arrived. I loved that. The California rolls were nice and fresh. They tasted good. The female clerk was polite both over the phone and in person. I'd recommend this restaurant to others. I found parking pretty easily, but there honestly were just a couple parking stalls open. Also they're very narrow stalls, but don't hold that against the restaurant. Anyway, the server (didn't get her name) really didn't look like she wanted to be there - not that friendly. I ordered a Ninja Pak 2, which consisted of spicy ahi on rice and a salad. Food came out pretty quick. Overall the food was alright, but a little on the pricey side at nearly $9. My point in comparison to this dish is the one from Ahi & Vegetable in Downtown Honolulu. IMO that dish is much better. The Ninja Sushi was was a little bland and had way too much rice. Even with the wasabi, it wasn't spicy at all (and i'm not a wasabi guy). Lunch break splurge. When I feel like spending money I run here on my lunch break. Phone order right when I click out and they normally have my food ready by the time I get there. On junk thing which is totally not their fault is the chip reader for the credit card takes for ever!! And when your on your timed break every minute counts. Food is always delicious. Heard her scolding her co-workers in the back for making an error on a previous order and said that she was "five minutes away from having a mental breakdown."
