Finally got to try Niu's soft serve ice cream today! Available flavors were niu (coconut), ube, lilikoʻi , and toasted niu. After asking the patient and friendly counter staff about flavors, she graciously offered a sample of the toasted niu. The toasted niu soft serve is a little sweet for me but the flavor is heavenly. Tastes and smells exactly like toasted coconut flakes and I was sold! I decided to add Mac nuts to top my keiki bowl and was pleasantly surprised to see they were toasted too (at least I think they were). I got there at approx. 5:45 on a Saturday. A couple of 2-top tables were occupied but otherwise not crowded, although a couple of small groups came right after me. Looks like they're now open daily (compared to when they first opened a few years ago) which was partly a reason for my delay in checking them out. Depending on the time, parking can be a challenge in Old Stadium Mall, where L&L, Kozo Sushi, and Lunar Tea are. During peak meal times, it'd be better to come with someone to run in and order/pick up while the other waits/circles around the lot/block. (The Young Street entrance and exit are one-way and narrow and visibility can be challenging at times.)
Located on King Street with a bunch of other restaurants, Niu Soft Serve is a small but yummy option for sweets. There is a parking lot in the front but parking can fill up. Inside, the space is on the smaller side but there are a few tables to sit. The counter is where you can order and see the menu. Plus, there is a display of some baked goods. We have been before to get the ice cream and hot kulolo (which was so good). This time, we wanted to try a different dessert! We decided to order the warm cookie sundae. We have seen some videos of this, and thought it looked yummy. We ordered and the dessert came out promptly. The people working were quick, which was helpful since there was a line. We were able to snag a table and try the sundae. It was so good! The combination of the soft serve (ube and vanilla), fudge, whipped cream, and cookie were excellent. Definitely will be back to try this again, and maybe get another kulolo and ice cream mix.
Decided to check out this place while I was in the area having lunch and I'm sure glads I did. I ordered the first thing I saw on the menu, their lihing lover with lychee soft serve...Wowser!! That was definitely a treat and and a party in my mouth. Yummmyy!! They were so good, I went back the next day and had dessert first before picking up something for dinner. The staff were kind and helpful and the service was quick! Its a cute little shop, with the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies, you're bound to get drawn in one way or another!
I discovered Niu Soft Serve at a farmers market many years ago, and I am so glad they have a storefront now with many more options! I will usually get the kulolo sundae, but I opted for something simple this night. I just ordered the bowl with the kinako pretzel flavor. I love the texture of the soft serve here! It seems like the parking lot is always crowded, but I am usually able to find a spot. There are a handful of tables inside the shop, but it can get crowded at night. This is definitely a solid dessert spot, especially for those who are non-dairy.
I didn't even realize this quaint shop existed until I decided on a non-dairy lifestyle six months ago. Luckily, a recommendation from a friend led me to this vegan-friendly establishment. I have GREAT friends who really look out for me!! But, you do NOT have to be non-dairy or vegan to delight in Niu Soft Serve and its vegan soft serve, toppings, and cookies. Niu Soft Serve rotates their flavors every couple of weeks. So far (because I plan to try more), I've tasted the ube/coconut and the roasted grain/toasted niu at the shop. Both were amazing! The texture is wonderful and the flavors are delicate and not overpowering. It's creamy but not 'runny' and not too sweet. Can you say, perfection!? You will after you try it! I prefer the traditional, old-school cone but they have waffle cone and cup options. You can also create your own sundae with their non-dairy toppings including hot kulolo, salted fudge, and niu condensed. Then, add your choice of crunchies or fresh fruit. Yum, right?! Or go ALL OUT and order a cookie sundae made with one of their fresh-baked, vegan cookies. I prefer to get the cookies to go and eat them for breakfast with black coffee. It's hard to get vegan pastries, so this is a great pastry-adjacent option. That is if you can manage to not eat the cookies before breakfast the next day! They are delicious ANY time of day. The texture is flawless (I love a soft cookie). A dash of sea salt complements the sweetness creating a crunchy, savory contrast that will make your taste buds explode. In addition to getting cookies to go, you can also walk out with pints. I feel like I always need one in my freezer in case of emergencies. Seriously, this soft serve will leave you craving so you want to be prepared for any late-night longings. I tried the chocolate flavor in a take-home pint. NO complaints! The location is a little tucked away. I never saw it even though I pass by it daily. But, you'll be glad once you find it. It's located right across Old Stadium Park on King Street in the small complex Diamond Head of Savers. The parking lot is small but we've always managed to find parking. And, street parking is also available on both sides of King Street. Don't let parking deter you from this delicious treat! They have a few small tables, a counter, and a bench inside. There is also a bench outside, too. It's been bustling during our visits, but we've always been able to grab a seat in the cool, cozy shop. Tables turn quickly because people pretty much devour their sweet treats. Service is fast and friendly. If you can't decide on a flavor, they will gladly give you samples. Staff genuinely seem to enjoy their work and their appreciation for their customers shows. With the summer days approaching, I'd highly recommend putting this on your must-try list! Even if you aren't vegan or non-dairy, you won't be disappointed. My husband consumes dairy but says this is one of his favorite cone places. Give Niu Soft Serve a try. You'll likely want to return for more.
Ube coconut swirl with mac nuts was good but not mindblowing. We were already in the area because we went to Alii fish market; otherwise wouldn't go out of the way for it.
The shop is a little small and the parking may be a bit difficult. Luckily, I had a Toyota Prius and we fit very well in a small parking lot lol. The line was out the door but it moved fast. We got there around 7PM? We got the Hot Kulolo w/ Ube flavor. They had four flavors: Hojicha, Vanilla, Ube, and I forgot the other one oops! But it was good, the ice cream was worth it for the size.
We got there for dessert didn't know they close 8:00 pm on Mon, Wed, Thurs. and close at 9:00 pm on Fri, Sat, Sun. We lucked out on parking, I guess because we got there at 7:30 pm and most places were either closed or starting to close. I ordered the plain coconut which was good with a light taste of coconut. My wife had the coconut with Oreo cookie bits and it went really well with the coconut flavor.
This place is awesome. The ice cream is so good. Theres a lot of options to add one. The calamansi slushie looked amazing, so we got a small sample. I will def be coming back just for that. The hot kulolo fudge is incredible. It truly is delicious. You can go wrong with anything here. The restaurant is very clean and nice too. Theres service was top notch. I didn't feel rushed when trying to decide between all options.
I 100000% recommend you come here for a SWEET TREAT. It's the best. I got a swirl of mixed berry and this sweet milk. That was good, although it was a little gritty because of the fresh berries. HOWEVER, if you get the UBE flavor. It's OUT OF THIS WORLD. Super creamy, it doesn't taste like an artificial flavor, and not too sweet. Pair the ube with Mac nuts and it's the perfect combo. I'll be coming back again, it does get a little busy at night, but it's totally worth it.
I went twice this week to introduce family members to Niu and they all loved it! Both times I tried different things than I normally get like the kalamansi slush with niu soft serve and the cookies and peanut butta sundae. Both were great though I'd recommend the slush more for the day time or when it is hot as it is easy to get a brain freeze haha. They are very popular now since my first review years ago so you may have to wait a few minutes for them to make your order but it is worth the wait. The workers work hard to keep up. The niu (coconut) and ube are standard flavors while two others change every 2 weeks to keep things interesting. The only tough thing is parking with all the other restaurants but I've often found street parking as a backup.
I love coming back here! This is the only dessert I can eat that I don't feel super full, everything is so light and delicious! Best kulolo sundae on the island might be controversial but I will stand on it. Always busy because it's the best!
I just want to say that their cookies are some of the best I have had, but that for some reason it tastes even better with their soft serve.. I don't know why but trust me... My friend got that cookie sundae combo and after sampling hers I wanted to eat the whole thing (oops) My go-to is the Hot Kulolo Sundae. I love it so much. It has warm Kulolo on the bottom and the cold ice cream on top. I recommend the ube. Service was pleasant and fast and they had some dine-in tables indoors. It got kinda crowded though so keep that in mind. Such a gem my friends and I say this is one of our all-time favorite places for ice cream and for a good reason it really is that good.

***4.5 STARS*** I recently had a great dinner with my family on a weekday night. Because of work and school the next day, we left the restaurant after 7pm but it was too early to head home. So, I called Auntie (aka Nadine C.) to see what she was up to. She was with Peter Y. and Lora C. having dessert at Niu Soft Serve (NSS) that wasn't too far away from my dinner venue. Despite already having dessert with my dinner, I was keen on meeting up with my friends, so I hopped in my car and drove here. Located in Old Stadium Square with neighboring businesses of Golden Eagle Chinese Restaurant, Tori Ton, Shingen, Aloha Pho, Fresh Bites and Lunar Tea, NSS opened their brick-and-mortar store in June 2022. Previously NSS has been a regular at the Kaka'ako and Kailua Farmer's Market, as well as in Ohana Hale Marketplace, selling their unique coconut milk-based products that are also dairy-free which is a plus for those who are lactose intolerant. They have several flavors of soft serve that you can select from to create your own bowls, malted shakes, and sundaes. When I arrived, my friends were just about done eating but I wanted to see what NSS is all about because Auntie just raves over them. The flavors that week were niu (coconut), ube, vanilla and orange day-dream. I was pleasantly surprised when the male staff offered me a sample. During COVID, many places stopped giving samples, so I wasn't expecting being asked. I usually go for ube but decided to try the orange day-dream as you don't see this flavor regularly. It had a good balance for sweet and tart that wasn't overpowering so I ended up getting bowl and passed on the toppings. After snapping some photos, it was time to dig in. I really enjoyed the orange day-dream as this reminded me of my childhood days eating creamsicle bars. The texture was quite smooth and creamy, which makes a great substitute for ice cream. As I dug in, I was pleasantly surprised not finding any air pockets, which is a major pet peeve with soft serve. Overall, NSS is a great addition to grab a cold and delicious treat. Next time, I would like to try their hot kulolo sundae or one of their malted shakes. If given a choice, I prefer ice cream over non-dairy soft serve but wouldn't hesitate if friends wanted to come to NSS. read more

Niu in Hawaiian is Coconut and that's what in these yummy dairy free soft serve, though I'm not lactose intolerant but I do prefer and love how flavor of dairy alternative brings and that's exactly what Niu Soft Serve has brilliantly brought us here. Located right across Old Stadium Park right on South King St you won't be able to see them from this one way street as it's right after Ross's though the one way parking entrance is on the other side from Young Street. What makes them unique isn't only their products are plant based to make anyone that's vegan and/or who prefer dairy free celebrate the sweet life they make their own sauce that makes the locals here drool. How's Hot Kulolo, Strawberry LiHing, Chocolate or Strawberry sauces all made in-house. Flavors do rotate weekly so following them on Instagram @niusoftserve or their site https://www.niusoftserve.com can help you decide especially when you're indecisive like me though on this visit they already had me at "You're too Matcha". This amazing malted shake is yes Matcha with Oatmilk and vegan malt and oh my yummy goodness it's the creamiest smooth delight, the coconut definitely pops and adds that unique magical love! They certainly do have sundaes as well or you can create your own from a plain and simple cone or cup to the ultimate sweetness, whatever it is you're certainly walk away with a spectacular cool experience. I May be biased because I was already a bit sold on this place before I arrived as someone who is dairy-free and greatly missed DELICIOUS soft serve this place was indeed ONO & absolutely delivered! Creamy, yummy, and my favorite part OPTIONS Let talk about the service really quick, they made me and my family feel warmly welcomed I mean this is a small place so the vibes can be easily picked up on and I was satisfied not to mention the fact that they are very willing to give you a run down on the options. Even online they interact with their customers which adds an extra layer of love. Mahalo for a great experience, we will be back! Dairy-free dessert in Honolulu, Hawaii... Donna O. is a very good friend. She found a place that I would really like because she knows that I have lactose intolerance. She mentioned Niu Soft Serve a few days ago, but the business closes at 8pm. By the time we had finished dinner, it was too late. This time, we had an early dinner and planned to go to Niu Soft Serve's new location. They used to be at Ohana Hale Marketplace. Now - they share the parking lot with Shingen, Lunar Tea, Golden Eagle, Kozo Sushi, and Fresh Bites. Niu Soft Serve is located next to Aloha Vietnamese Foods. I ordered the Hot Kulolo Sundae - it was excellent! Kulolo is like a taro mochi. However, in this sundae, it's delivered in the form of a warm caramel-like topping. My soft serve was a swirled mixture of Ube (purple sweet potato) and Niu (coconut). The creation was cleverly sprinkled with chopped macadamia nuts... Delicious! I'm really looking forward to returning and getting everything on the menu! This coconut-based dessert won't hurt me - I'm so happy! Thanks, Donna! I've been meaning to come here to try their vegan ice cream. They have a small place now located in the area where Shingen and Kozo sushi is across from the stadium park. Simple menu but unique flavors. Free samples are available. I wanted the ube oreo shake $8.50. It would be something I would want when I feel a sweet tooth craving. It is really sweet. But I did like the blend of oreo and ube. It was a very smooth texture but not too thick. I would like to try their other flavor ice cream next time I stop by. read more
Having gone to a Yelp event a while back and wanting a sweet treat, I returned here. They are in stadium mall area a few doors up from L&L. Parking is usually plentiful given there are other outlets to eat from. They usually have 2 reg flavors (ube and coconut) and 2 special flavors that change often. The soft serve is plant based. I chose the hot kulolo sundae with ube and coconut swirl. It's a perfect blend of tastes. You can't go wrong with a classic. The kid had the sunrise sundae with strawberry li-hing soft serve. At 1st, the taste of the soft serve awakens all your senses. If you love li-hing, you will love this soft serve. The only downfall for both of us was it became too strong to eat with the lemon peel. We opted to save half and stick it in the freezer. Next time I would just be content on getting the soft serve with no toppings. They're that tasty all on it's own. And yes, there will be a next time. There was only one person working so if you have a large order it might take a bit but we didn't wait long at all. read more
WHERE ARE ALL YOU LACTOSE INTOLERANT & VEGAN SOFT SERVE eaters?!! Head on down: Location: new permanent location across the Old Stadium, next to Aloha Vietnamese and across Lunar Tea. This is non-dairy soft serve, so I can eat an entire serving without getting stomach pain or diarrhea (TMI)! The condensed "milk" is also non-dairy so you can try all the toppings, including the hot kulolo sundae with the toasted mac nuts ($8.50), or just get a single cup without all the fancy stuff for $6. Check the hours before you come down! I tried to come here at 11a one day but they didn't open til 12. Good news is they open til 8p. read more

TL;DR Sunrise Sundae = ONO Hot Kulolo Sundae = ONO I'll keep this review short and sweet. The soft serve here is bomb, and the toppings are unique and well-crafted. I thoroughly enjoyed my Sunrise Sundae (strawberry milk tea soft serve) with strawberries added, and my wife's Hot Kulolo Sundae (w/ niu and ube swirl) was also a hit. When I discovered that the soft serve was dairy free, my mind was blown. I couldn't even tell. Amazing! They also aren't shy about samples, which is much appreciated. Found this place when we to go out GO TO vietnamese sandwich next door. Me & my sister had to check it out since it look interesting. PARKING LOT: Parking isn't that big & it does get busy due to other food & drink places in the area. They also have street parking. SERVICE: We went when they literally first open the first week. What caught our eyes was the KULOLO & KALO SUNDAES. Wow wow wow. Super different from others places that sell this too. I loved that it's served hot/warm but I wished it was alittle bit thicker. I notice that they do change the flavors every week so go head & follow them on social media. Will we come back?? Of course to try something else. read more
After having lunch at a nearby place I saw the sign for Niu soft serve and decided we are definitely checking it out! Honestly there are not that many soft serve places left in town anymore so this was a treat. We were not disappointed! Love the cute interior and really loved the cake batter and ube flavor. My BF had Coconut soft serve with Kulolo sauce and roasted mac nuts it was delicious! Perfect after a hot day of riding bikes on the 4th of July. I was able to chat with one of the owners she's a super sweet lady! And told me about their journey and opportunity to open up a shop. Dairy-free ice cream has recently become my preference in frozen sweet treat, so I'm always on the lookout for a new place to try! After reading several great reviews about Niu here on Yelp, I decided to move forth and give it a try. I ordered the most popular choice, the Hot Kulolo Sundae, which came with hot kulolo sauce and freshly roasted macadamia nuts. The moment I savored that first bite, I realized why it was so popular! It was absolutely delicious and I couldn't get enough. The balance of flavors and textures between the sauce, nuts, and soft serve was impeccable. The price point, for a dairy free ice cream experience was fair and absolutely worth it. I am curious to try the other sundae options here as well as the take-home pints of ice cream. Overall, highly recommend this spot to any and all folks that are in the area and looking to try a unique sweet treat. Absolutely delicious! read more
Very yummy!!! This place was awesome all around. I always appreciate unique flavors, toppings, ingredients and a local flair. This place checks all those boxes. They have rotating flavors like dragon fruit and a list of the usual suspects like coconut and ube. I think the toppings also rotate to keep things interesting. I had the "Kalo me back" with ube and coconut soft serve and it was the yummiest dessert I've had in recent memory. The soft serve has a subtle sweetness and tastes like real ingredients not artificial colors and additives. The warm kalo (taro) was slightly sweet and very soft. The condensed milk added decadent creaminess and the sweet toasted coconut flakes were the perfect finishing tough that added crunch and another layer of flavors. 10/10 I crave this again! Hubby got the kulolo sauce with Mac nuts and coconut soft serve and liked it so much he didn't even want to try mine and barely wanted to share his. I got a small taste and it was also yummy. Other things that made this place a great experience was the guy at the counter was so nice and welcoming. It was hot outside and we had our dog and we were going to have one of us go in to order while the other waited outside with the dog but he invited us in and even gave Kaya a small serving of the coconut soft serve which she LOVED! He said they're making dog specific treats in the near future which is exciting. In a town that is generally anti-dog and unwelcoming to fur babies, this really puts Niu Soft Serve into our top dessert spots. Plenty of parking is also a win! I highly recommend!! read more

I was lucky enough to try this place through the #TravelLikeALocal event. It's a cute little shop located in the parking lot that has Tori Ton, Kozo Sushi, Fresh Bites, etc (or if you remember, it's where Sweet Home Cafe used to be); however, Niu Soft Serve is located across those shops in the same parking lot with entrance on Young Street. Parking stalls are a little tight here. Niu Soft Serve is the perfect vegan, dairy-free alternative to ice creams, sundaes and shakes! I was surprised at the menu variation. They offer fruity and seasonal flavors compared to the usual ice cream shops. Their classic flavors are Niu (Coconut) and Ube. They also offer rotating "special" flavors. I stopped in by myself and tried the Sunrise sundae with strawberry mango flavored soft serve topped with strawberry li-hing sauce, niu condensed "milk" (since y'know dairy-free!) and mini mochi. I believe the sundae was $8.75. I really wanted to try a shake, but I knew it'd be too much for just me to eat. I was surprised at the consistency and the flavor. It was very refreshing on a hot day and tasted just like ice cream! Honestly you can't even tell it's dairy-free. They also offer pints to-go! It's in the freezer to the right of the register. I can't remember how much it was. I loved the sundae a lot and I would love to come back for an ube shake. It is a bit pricey for the portion that you get, but considering that this a dairy-free alternative, it makes sense to me. read more
Located in the Old Stadium Square is Niu Soft Serve. What drew me to this place is it's dairy free! We all know sometimes dairy doesn't sit well with others so having a dairy free dessert option is welcomed. I usually get the Niu (coconut) and Ube (purple yam) combo soft serve in a cup, you can add toppings as well which I usually add Oreo crumbs. They also have this hot Kulolo sauce that is incredible and goes well with the soft serve. There is limited seating but there are benches outside. Highly recommend this place for a nice dessert and dairy free option. read more

We've been meaning to come here for a while, but just finally had it today. Seriously, the best Ice cream I've had in a very long time. It is so good, and was dairy free so I don't have to get super bloated and gassy. I got the coconut with macadamia nuts and coconut condensed milk, and it was perfect. I couldn't recommend this place more. We will be getting our sweet treats from now on. On the way out we even grabbed a pint for our freezer, and they have lots of options for at home. read more
This place is dangerous. We go almost every other week, and it's become common in our household to just go "Niu?" "Niu." What's great is that their soft serve is vegan, so you don't feel heavy or sickly after having this delicious treat. A few things about this soft serve joint that stick out. First they have their tried and true OG flavors of ube and niu, and the swirl mix of them is just a classic combo. The remaining 2 flavors are in constant Flux, and it's always a treat to discover what new concoction these geniuses come up with. Some of my favorite special flavors include: pandan, Thai iced tea, black sesame. Sometimes they'll also have pints of the flavors ready for purchase in a chest freezer. They also have shakes and malts, which the ube cookies and cream is actually my default order every time. It's not too sweet and has the nice crumbles of oreo in it with malt powder sprinkled throughout. The store recently redesigned their layout, and it's cool to see more baked goods and other drink availabilities. They are super dog friendly and will give a pup cup for your fur babies. They also have a loyalty stamp card, so be sure to ask for that. My only need...is for them to have extended late hours so I can enjoy when I get those late night cravings! read more

I am very grateful for options like this! This was not too bad. I have had better and I do wish it was more creamer with coconut milk. I feel that the ube is lacking creaminess. They have multiple options, but my favorite flavor is Ube. You can choose your flavor, type of cone and toppings which are additional cost. The service is great and friendly. They gave us samples. Tthey also gave my dad extra toppings on the side as it would fall off quite easily. He did enjoy his chocolate malt soft serve. This is a hole in the wall kind of place. They do have several square tables with chairs. This place is located in a little shopping complex between Young Street and King Street. I wish there were more places like this throughout the islands because this was far for us to come to. We came all the way from Waianae just to try this out. So thumbs up for the experience, but hopefully you will make a little more creamier ube! read more

I had been here earlier in the week for a Yelp event and decided to return with my family. The soft serve here tastes really fresh and has very subtle flavors. There are 4 flavors of soft serve to chose from Coconut, Ube, Mango and Strawberry. They have many different types of toppings and also offer shakes. Service is always quick and friendly. Lots of parking and shop is clean with a few tables. Give it a try! read more

Cute little spot for soft serve. The inside is clean and the service was great. I got the ube and ohelo papa soft serve with the sesame brittle crumble. Decided that I still wanted to try something else on the menu and got their ube cookies and cream smoothie. All of this was onolicious! read more

Niu soft serve is hands down our 'go to' dessert spot when we're in the downtown area. The ambience is great. Plenty of seating and is very clean.. Staff is friendly and is so kind to give you a sample if you're feeling indecisive on what flavor to get lol I love that they are always switching up the soft serve flavors. Everything is always delicious! Hot kulolo sundae and mocha peanut butta shake is definitely our go to's. read more

Great local dessert place! With menu items like the Kulolo Sundae, Foodie-kake Sundae, and You're too Matcha malted shake, you will definitely find something unique to enjoy. And if you are on a low carb diet, are lactose intolerant, or just want to try dairy free desserts this is the perfect place! Instead of using milk, coconut milk is used for their base. I went during the #TravellikeaLocal promotion and got the Kulolo Sundae. Best decision ever. The sundae consists of their hot kulolo sauce, topped with your choice of dairy free soft-serve. I chose niu (coconut) and ube (purple yam). Sprinkled on the side are chopped macadamia nuts. Such a great combination. It melts fast with the hot kulolo so eat it ASAP. I had no trouble with this since it was so delicious. And afterward, I didn't feel as bloated as after eating ice cream. This is one of those places that I'd take visiting friends to. Coconut soft-serve is innovative and the flavors of Hawaii shine, especially in their sundaes. Locals would enjoy these desserts too. read more

On a yelp invite we decided to cool off on a hot summer day with a bowl of soft serve ice cream from Niu. It's not a big place, but it serves a great soft serve. Today's menu offered four choices of soft serve. I chose the ube and coconut swirl with no toppings and my friend ordered a coconut sundae with kulolo topping and mac nut sprinkles. We decided to eat inside their small dining area with tables and a bar seating area. Not too much of a fan of soft serve cause often times it can be too grainy with chunks of ice, but not today. The ice cream was super creamy. Flavors spot on; and they didn't melt quickly. I enjoyed my coconut and ube, but had wished I got the sundae with the kulolo topping (actually placed underneath). If you like sweet lady of Waiahole from Waihole Poi Factory you have to try this. The kulolo is what stands out. It was soft and creamy, yet still retained the kulolo flavor 100%. Worked well with the soft, creamy coconut flavor ice cream. A must try!! Even for tourist! The staff was very helpful. They kindly explained how it works. Prices are reasonable. They are not hard to find. They're directly across of the Old Stadium park on King St. There is free 20 minute parking, just enough time to enjoy your refreshing treat. They also sell shakes. Niu is one of the best soft serve on the islands! They are dairy free and coconut based. You have to try their kulolo sundaes! They're are sooo good! The soft serve here always hits the spot. They have rotating flavors of soft serve. The have many different toppings to offer as well as shakes. The location is convenient and parking is available. Niu never disappoints. We have been going to Niu's since they first started their business. read more
Looking for something refreshing, sweet and dairy free? Niu soft serve has got you covered! Went to the farmers market in kaka'ako and this cute little stand caught my eye. I was hungry for some fresh papaya..and whatta ya know! They had it! It only got better with the coconut ice cream swirled right on top with delicious crunchy granola and nutty macadamia nuts! Not too sweet, just perfect! Especially for a breakfast treat. It was $9, and I think that's worth it for some dairy free ice cream + fresh papaya, YUM! This little shop is kind of hidden lol. It's always good when you find ice cream alternatives, especially delicious ones. I've heard of this place before but I'm always hesitant on ice cream places because most places when they try to serve dairy free options, it's ok or not good. We went to this place almost 40 minutes before closing. The workers were very nice and patient. I got the Pandan flavor scoop and my friend got the Peanut buttah shake lol. Funny name. I was surprised that they were all coconut ice cream based! It didn't taste like it! Tasted more like the McDonald's ice cream, very creamy. So ono! The peanut buttah shake was VERY peanut buttery. It tasted like your eating straight from the jar lol. So....if you LOVE peanut butter get that shake. I would go again if I'm in the area. Mahalo! read more
