I've been here at least a dozen times. So I guess I'm just in it for the experience. Despite the rather poor reviews. Like, if you want to bring your whole entire family here and just enjoy a nice cheap meal, it's not all that bad, really. $9-$10/pp during brunch is actually a steal. Excluding dinner, which is around $16, but wth, I wouldn't prefer to come during dinner time, only brunch. Why? Because do you want fresher food or do you want the leftover food? It all depends, really. But right when they open would be a really nice time to drop by. I once devoured two plates from the Mongolian BBQ bar. Something about their tossed egg noodles in shaoxing wine with veggies and protein is just sooo damn good. Is it the wok hei flavor? The wine? I dunno. Not to mention the noodle quality is quite savoury and retains the sauce well. Yum. I could list a whole lot of my favorite dishes from here but the quality /could/ vary from when and what time you visit. My previous visit, I literally cleared two plates of crawfish. Even though they will 'always' serve frozen steamed crawfish, I find it acceptable as it didn't taste like frozen or freezer burnt crawfish. Although once it has sat there for a few hours, kiss the quality goodbye. The potstickers/gyoza/fried dumplings they have at the corner of the bar near the Mongolian bbq station are truly scrumptiouuus. Plus the potsticker sauce they have is amazingly delicious. My go-to is always the fried rice because, duh, it's fried rice. It honestly tastes like some chicken bouillon tossed fried rice with some yellow food/turmeric coloring that makes it look more appetizing. I dunno, I just love the taste! It has a unique flavor that you'll probably remember. (maybe not, my taste buds are weird) In the middle there's a dimsum island with steamed dumplings and soup. Among the soup is a bird's nest soup and every chinese person knows that is an expensive ingredient that's very nutritional. If you try it, expect it to be sweet. It's honestly quite good and every chinese person would consider this to be a treasure. (I'm exaggerating, fyi) I hardly touch the sushi bar, but on occasions I would drop by and swipe a few california rolls. I would steer away from raw sources, as it's risky. You can't expect buffet sushi to be stellar. All in all, I think the buffet is pretty grand and offers a wide variety of food that doesn't taste quite bad. Plus the buffet is very big and could hold quite a lot of families having dinner. However, I frankly had quite the few bad experiences here but that didn't stop me from coming here with my family, as we like it enough to keep on coming back. But let me tell you, you can't really avoid the terrible customer service. They have had the same employees over the many many years since I've been here and you just can't avoid it. Ever been pressured to leave a tip? (assuming the waiter/tresses stands there waiting for you to sign the tip line) --You can simply pay cash while you're here so you wouldn't feel so uncomfortable. It has occurred a few times when I paid with card (the uncomfortable staring) but I always tip at least 10% every time I eat out, regardless of how service goes. Dealing with cash is a lot easier though. If you compare this to any other Chinese buffet, this takes the cake any day. Once I went to another Chinese buffet (obv not this one) that had nearly cold food throughout, and had given me food poisoning at the end of the day. This place gets busy but for some reason, it's never too crowded in the food area which is great. They make you wear masks and gloves when getting food, which is awesome! Service is great, always checking up and grabbing plates ASAP. You don't feel rushed when eating here, they have a good amount of choices for lunch and the price is SUPER CHEAP. For some reason my parents like to go here. Probably because it's a buffet. One day, I finally said yes to going with them and that was the last time I've been there. I had the $hitters all night. I thinks it was the shellfish dish with some orange creamy sauce. Who knows what it was because a lot of the seafood looked like it had been sitting out for awhile. My parents still go there. To be honest, it's not a bad buffet. My mom and he sisters wanted to come here for Mother's Day lunch- but so did everyone else in Sacramento apparently. The host originally quoted a 55 minute wait but the staff was VERY efficient seating the number of people in a party to the size of table. Most restaurants seat parties in order of arrival but this ends up actually causing more of a wait for larger parties. We were seated in about 20-25 minutes which wasn't bad at all, given the crowd and the size of our party (8). As soon as we were seated our drink orders were taken and we started to heap our plates with food. There are several stations: fried food, dim sum, Mongolian noodles, grilled meats, sushi, cold salads, fruit, dessert, and steamed/sautéed dishes. The cost for Sunday's was $16.95 not including drinks. They have a senior citizen price of 30% off. For the price of the food it wasn't bad at all! The only thing to be wary of is the cleanliness of plates. The plates are wet and can have food particles still stuck to them. A lot of selection so come in hungry! Went with a party of four on a busy Saturday afternoon. Didn't wait too long since one of my party came early and held a table. Food: I aimed mostly at the seafood that weren't battered and/or fried. I tried some of the veggies, beef, sushi, seafood, and desserts. If you're picky about the meats or aren't sure if it's really meat (lol), there's a station where you can watch the ladies cook your meats for you. Like Korean bbq style. Sadly, I didnt to that station but I wish I did. Maybe next time! The oysters went by fast! I was lucky enough to be there at the right moment to grab two because everyone just kept grabbing 3-5 on their plates. It was chaotic. Lol The desserts were alright. I liked the yogurt and fruits. Customer service: the lady was nice. She would come by and grab all our empty plates. Here's a tip: once you finish your plates, STACK EM UP. They will see and come by to grab them no problem. But be sure to put the plates somewhere where the waitresses can reach and grab. Make things easy for waitresses if you can! Overall, I wasn't blown away by the food..was a little pricey for 4 people (around $80...felt like we got over charged). I only ate the seafood section since I love seafood. Would I go back? I was here yesterday for a 100th birthday and we closed out the entire banquet room. They had plenty of space for our very large & blended Filipino family. The food is your typical buffet dishes. The quality isn't all there but they do have a variety to pick from. I enjoyed the Mongolian grill the most. They had a variety of meats & veggies to pair with egg noddles or vermicelli. The cook quickly stir fries it on the grill and you're sent on your way. It was pretty good when I added lots of chili peppers. Their Mongolian pork, orange chicken and salt & pepper prawns were good too. Let's not forget they have mini sesame balls too! The food was continuously stocked, but most of it was cold by the time I got to the table...strange. The service was good though. They had several people walking around checking on us. I used to love coming here years ago whenever I'd drive up to Sacramento from the south bay. Came back recently and I'm pleasantly surprised that nothing's really changed! The most mind blowing thing about this place is the value. The prices are dirt cheap (at least compared to all the buffets down in silicon valley), and the quality and selection of the buffet is actually pretty darn good. I haven't had any issues with hygiene or food safety here, but it's definitely one of those places where I wouldn't be too surprised if you had a stomachache after eating at (that's pretty much part of any Chinese buffet experience though, lmao). Either way, this place is huge with long rows of stacked choices, and nothing really tastes bad at all (and I'm Asian so that kinda says a lot). Friends came from different parts of Northern and Southern California, and even as far as Las Vegas. I would say choice of venue by the organizer is a total FAIL.
