From the most recent visit on Father's Day this place goes from 2 to 1 star. It would be 2 stars if they didn't upcharge $2-3 or so per person without telling us just because it's Father's Day. Good thing we got there early because there was a line out the door while we were sitting there. Very busy and very little room to serve yourself as you are dodging people and it wasn't that clean there. The food is below average Chinese food and the fried rice isn't even fried rice. Just don't do it, take the advice of the several hundred bad reviews for this place and go somewhere else. When it first opened years ago it was decent, but it sure went downhill. This place is cheap for a reason. It is far below quality food and boarders on unsanitary. If you can catch them with crab legs, they are skinny, covered in barnacles and sooooo dried out. The shrimps are rubbery, salad bar is wilted, fruit is dried out, sushi is not fresh as the raw fish colors were faded or grey. Service is just as abysmal. They are rude and care more about turn over to get more butts in the seat than taking care of your needs, but best believe they have no issue demanding a tip. They demand a 10% tip minimum which isn't a big deal nor that much as we generally tip 15-20% but we were going to leave cash and the waitress complained when she saw the credit card receipt read no tip. Based on her minimal service she provided during our meal, the amount we planned to leave was plenty and over the 10% but because of her rudeness and pushiness we left $5 and left. If you are going to push and demand a tip, put a notice that a 10% tip will be added to each bill like other restaurants do for large parties versus hounding your customers into awkward or hostile situations. Overall, we would never return. If you want seafood go to Red Hawks buffet. Even Golden Corral is 100 times better than this place. read more

Ok so came here like a week and a half ago. Three stars for the food and one star for the service totalling 4 stars. Mongolian bbq does not taste as good as before covid-19, but better than most buffet or Mongolian bbq places. The soup station is closed so bummer. Bbq is missing the beef short ribs, but other than that it still tastes the same. Sushi station is even more sad than before covid-19. The main dishes look rather sad because they don't bring out new food often. The service was superb. Way better than before covid-19 because the waiter understands English and actually comes check on you and talk to you. What I did not like is the paper plates, cups, and utensils. Man I hate dining with those because I feel like I'm having take out and it feels uncomfortable eating. Ruins the experience of dining out. Another thing that bummed me out was the disgusting floor. It was my second time and this time I went with my family on a weekend during lunch time (Around 1-2). The place was very crowded, and the waitress (she had red hair and looked like she was 50), gave my mom an attitude when my mom asked for napkins. She pointed out the napkin box in the middle of the table. It took a while for waters to be refilled and I had to get her attention to get some more for my mom. She spilled the ice and water on my table and didn't even apologize. She used the said napkins to wipe it off and left it halfway dry. And behold the last part of our trip, I tell you it is not a joke: she came to chase us to the door after we took care of the bill and asked if that was the only amount we left as a tip. My mom clarified yes it was and she took the pen and scribbled all over the receipt and said "No, I don't want that little tip" and had a mini meltdown in front of us, and all I said was "wow" as we all just walked away. That server was something else! My earlier review of this place was good, because the price was pretty low and the food was tasty, but sadly I guess some servers could not keep a fine composure when it gets too busy. $11 for an AYCE dinner buffet?? Count me in! Mongolian BBQ, KBBQ, sushi, dim sum, soups, seafood, fruits, veggies, desserts, and more -- this place offers SO MANY options to choose from. The entree dishes don't change, but the quality is consistently good. Whenever I'm here, you'll definitely find me at the sushi bar. The sashimi and rolls aren't world class, but the important thing is that they're fresh! The food counters are always tidy and stocked. The staff wipe down every table and chair (yes, even the seats, back, and legs of the chairs). I've never had issues with food quality and look back to visiting again. BUGS IN FOOD! They did not care! WARNING: do not read if you have a weak stomach! Our office ordered lunch .The meals came with bugs in them (see pictures)! We contacted the restaurant, they clearly did not care, they said if we bring any uneaten food back, they would credit us back in 5-8 days, but not for anything eaten. No apology, no saying that should not happen, nothing other than credit for the dishes with bugs in them that were not eaten. We arrived here last night in honor of my mother in law's birthday, as she enjoys this establishment. I had never been, and I was hoping for crab legs. Alas, none were to be found. This was not the reason for the low review, however. I enjoy a good Chinese buffet now and then. The options are the typical Chinese-American dishes one expects to find: Orange chicken, overcooked salmon, broccoli beef, cheesy mussels, etc. Whatever. Not too expensive, so, so far, so good. I, at first, thought the quality was better than other Sacramento area Chinese buffets, and was happy to give them three stars. Then, the night's sleep was accompanied with numerous "interruptions." I'm not a sea food guy so I tried to find things I thought I'd like. I tried what most people might call Mongolian bbq. For me, that was not even close to that. I don't know what the guy used on my food but it was horrible. I tried the sushi, it was ok. Eventually the items I liked the most was the desserts. Now there were 12 people in our party. Man....you see the parking lot full...spots so hard to find....then you say to yo self this place must be bomb diggity. Not so much. First off, crab, shrimp, crawfish do not taste fresh. The food is good, the cleanliness is ok, but the service is awful. My husband and I went to this location last night and the waitress "Elizabeth" was so rude. When she showed us to our table she asked what we wanted to drink, then walked away without even an acknowledgement of our thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have asked when I wasn't quite finished..anyway, she walk by about 10 times staring at our table like she wanted us to hurry up and leave. When I did pay, with cash, I left the dollar and change on the bill holder and told her we didn't need it. I don't feel we need to tip for someone getting drinks, one time. When we walked past her to leave she stared at us and started speaking in Mandarin again with a face full of disdain. In addition to her bad manners and lack of customer service, the entire staff is just rude. They will bump into you and push you out of they way to stock the buffet. If you say excuse me when trying to get out of the way, they look at you like they just don't want you there. Everyone looks angry and speaks in another language with an angry tone. Food: Came here for Father's Day lunch. Not the best choice. We just wanted to give it a try again since we haven't been here for years, but the food has gone downhill. I noticed when they bring out their food on the rolling carts, the rolling carts were two levels. I was bothered by the food being on the bottom cart and knowing there's a lot of foot traffic from all the customers, you can easily get dust and other nasty stuff in the food. I also observed how they placed the new food in the trays and instead of using the service spoon handle, the guy was touching the spoon itsself and I saw all the sauce dripping from his hands and back into the fresh food. So very unsanitary. Someone needs to check this place to see if they even pass food inspection and etc. Service: Bad. Your server doesn't really attend to your needs or anything and when you go up to pay they will personally put the tip on your receipt for you rather than you doing it yourself. Like ma'am I know how to put a decent tip down for you. Ambiance: Not really a great place to dine in if you want to spend quality time with your family. Food was not good, most was very stale/old/nasty and some desserts smelled like dirty dishes. Some items were not bad, but the food was overall not worth it. I also called the restaurant prior to heading over to ask a question about a food item, and the lady who answered was very rude but we decided to give it a try. We of course tipped the waitress, but she ended up demanding we tip more "for the team". The waitress was attentive and nice, but they definitely expect a certain amount of tip money and will ask you for more if you don't tip a certain amount. I've been here at least a dozen times. So I guess I'm just in it for the experience. Despite the rather poor reviews. Like, if you want to bring your whole entire family here and just enjoy a nice cheap meal, it's not all that bad, really. $9-$10/pp during brunch is actually a steal. Excluding dinner, which is around $16, but wth, I wouldn't prefer to come during dinner time, only brunch. Why? Because do you want fresher food or do you want the leftover food? It all depends, really. But right when they open would be a really nice time to drop by. I once devoured two plates from the Mongolian BBQ bar. Something about their tossed egg noodles in shaoxing wine with veggies and protein is just sooo damn good. Is it the wok hei flavor? The wine? I dunno. Not to mention the noodle quality is quite savoury and retains the sauce well. Yum. I could list a whole lot of my favorite dishes from here but the quality /could/ vary from when and what time you visit. My previous visit, I literally cleared two plates of crawfish. Even though they will 'always' serve frozen steamed crawfish, I find it acceptable as it didn't taste like frozen or freezer burnt crawfish. Although once it has sat there for a few hours, kiss the quality goodbye. The potstickers/gyoza/fried dumplings they have at the corner of the bar near the Mongolian bbq station are truly scrumptiouuus. Plus the potsticker sauce they have is amazingly delicious. My go-to is always the fried rice because, duh, it's fried rice. It honestly tastes like some chicken bouillon tossed fried rice with some yellow food/turmeric coloring that makes it look more appetizing. I dunno, I just love the taste! It has a unique flavor that you'll probably remember. (maybe not, my taste buds are weird) In the middle there's a dimsum island with steamed dumplings and soup. Among the soup is a bird's nest soup and every chinese person knows that is an expensive ingredient that's very nutritional. If you try it, expect it to be sweet. It's honestly quite good and every chinese person would consider this to be a treasure. (I'm exaggerating, fyi) I hardly touch the sushi bar, but on occasions I would drop by and swipe a few california rolls. I would steer away from raw sources, as it's risky. You can't expect buffet sushi to be stellar. All in all, I think the buffet is pretty grand and offers a wide variety of food that doesn't taste quite bad. Plus the buffet is very big and could hold quite a lot of families having dinner. However, I frankly had quite the few bad experiences here but that didn't stop me from coming here with my family, as we like it enough to keep on coming back. But let me tell you, you can't really avoid the terrible customer service. They have had the same employees over the many many years since I've been here and you just can't avoid it. Ever been pressured to leave a tip? (assuming the waiter/tresses stands there waiting for you to sign the tip line) --You can simply pay cash while you're here so you wouldn't feel so uncomfortable. It has occurred a few times when I paid with card (the uncomfortable staring) but I always tip at least 10% every time I eat out, regardless of how service goes. Dealing with cash is a lot easier though. If you compare this to any other Chinese buffet, this takes the cake any day. Once I went to another Chinese buffet (obv not this one) that had nearly cold food throughout, and had given me food poisoning at the end of the day.
