A hidden gem in Oak Harbor... I did not know this restaurant existed if it wasn't for Yelp. I looked at my Yelp app looking for a high rated restaurant for breakfast. This restaurant is in a row of small shops. You'd have to walk in through the walkway towards the back. It's not huge but a good size restaurant. The menu offers American and Mexican breakfast options. Food: Small breakfast: 2 French Toasts with bacon served soft and a side order of eggs cooked to my liking. Chorizo with scrambled eggs Country Fried Steak The food was delicious and I'm glad we ate here. Lastly, the restaurant is clean and the servers were nice. The "restaurant" was in a little empty mall and reminded me more of a food court. We stood at the entrance waiting for a couple minutes before we released you just grab a menu and seat yourself. First time here to have dinner. Great menu with lots of great options. Ordered Mexican options. The 3 ground beef tacos were bland and with no onions or cilantro it was just a spoonful of ground beef in the soft shell. Had to ask for lettuce and sour cream but it could have used some tomatoes. Hubby had the chimichanga with shredded beef - also bland and not much flavor and the shell was soft vs. crisp/crunchy. We will try it again for the American options but never again the Mexican options. read more

Walking around the area today and we spotted this little place and decided to check it out and we have to say that it was quite good. We decided on the two enchiladas and two sopes dishes and they did not disappoint. The meat (chicken for the enchiladas and shredded beef for the sopes) were very tender and flavorful. The rice was light, fluffy and did not overpower, but only complimented the beans and the main dish. They had two different homemade salsa's to use with your dish, if you prefer but, they were not needed. We did use them and they only continued to enhance the flavors overall. Some of the best Mexican food around the island! They do have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, however we only sampled the Mexican tonight. I'm sure we will be back for something different next time. Give them a try, I'm sure you'll like it. read more

I've heard great things about this restaurant. My husband and I were looking for some Mexican food and decided to give this place a shot. The food was mediocre at best. I think the main problem with this place is the menu is way too big. It's odd to be somewhere that's serving breakfast, Mexican, pastas, steaks, and more. Just to drastic that the cooks can't focus on executing one type of food perfectly. Only beer and wine are served here, so if you're looking for a margarita with your burrito, this isn't your place. We found this place in Oak Harbor Washington. It is inside of a mall with a couple of art galleries. My wife had the chorizo breakfast with hashbrowns and we ordered a side of beans for the table. Her breakfast came with handmade, yes, handmade corn tortillas that were amazingly fluffy and super hot. I had the biscuits and gravy scramble combination. It was basically a Denver omelette and biscuits and gravy. The eggs had cheese, onions, bell pepper more cheese and it too was yummy. The service was top notch, and they were hustling in there. This is a great all around place. Yes you have traditional Mexican cuisine but they also serve burgers, pasta and steak as well. I've had a Mexican dish as well as their fettuccini and both times the food was amazing. Definitely a must try if on island. read more

Made a trip to Oak Harbor (Whidbey Island) for the weekend and found this great little place at a walking distance from gorgeous Windjammer Park. My daughter had the fish and chips - a huge serving of delicious flaky Alaskan Cod, fries, slaw, and garlic bread. I had the prime rib with some mash, gravy and a side salad. Noe Jose is a cozy, family owned café with the best food in Oak Harbor. Their breakfast is amazing, especially the huevos rancheros. But I come here for the Quesadillas Michoacán, which is the best thing on the menu. Made by hand, this dish has two corn and cheese quesadillas that pack so much flavor, I can only usually eat one and either share the other with a friend or save for later. Also, their rice that comes with everything is so good. I've never gotten anything bad here, and I've been here enough times to make that count! read more

Nice little cafe that serves Mexican and more! THE ROSES: Nicely done traditional Tex-Mex food. Menu really covers the waterfront, so to speak, with traditional American breakfasts and entrees, as well as a lot of pasta dishes! The homemade tortillas are incredible. THE THORNS: No beer on tap. They charge you $2.50 for a basket of chips and salsa. Look, I understand the business of this, but when I go to a Mexican restaurant, I expect a basket of chips and salsa; it's just the way things are done. Charging separately for it is just as annoying as when restaurants charge for bread. Bury the costs wherever you need to, but don't go charging extra for this; it's just annoying. THE VERDICT: Most people do not stray far from jWA-20, so they're not aware (as I wasn't aware) of the existence of 'Old Oak Harbor'. Noe Jose Cafe makes it worth your while to go off the beaten path. read more

Other than the food being a subpar experience; bacon burnt, inexperienced server, and a sticky table.. we were charged $2.00 for a condiment of raspberry sauce.. just a dollop, not too much to even make a dent in the bottle. When asking the server about the bill she said that they charged that much for the bit because it didn't come with the meal. Fair, but again.. when did syrup cost that much? She did not say there would be an up charge she just have the bill and walked away. Times are hard for everyone, but don't try to nickel and dime customers for basic condiments without specific details first and foremost. And the French toast wasn't even good with the terrible sauce. Will not return. read more

Great family run restaurant. Obviously specializing in breakfast items, they also offer both Mexican and American sandwiches, burgers and other lunch and dinner items. We stopped in for lunch and were looking for Mexican. On the surface the offerings were pretty typical, but the quality was better than usual. With pleasant and attentive service this is a great place to stop. I had the posole, a soup with hominy and chunks of pork. It was fabulous! The pork was tender and delicious, the broth was yummy and the parts all worked together perfectly. The posole was accompanied by fresh house made tortillas. My wife had the chimichanga based on earlier reviews and was very pleased. Just as in earlier reviews the beans and rice were both excellent. Unlike some places, here they clearly out real care into preparing the sides! Good food served by friendly folks at a fair price. Can't ask for much more than that! read more

I'm updating my review. I understand times have changed since my las review, but when I went for brunch with friends the other day something was definitely different. I ordered breakfast knowing I'd be taking half home because of their abundant portion sizes. However, this time breakfast looked like a child size meal, which would normally be fine, but the price was the same. I regret not taking a photo. My 7 yr old ordered the regular sized biscuits and gravy with hash browns, cleaned her plate and asked to order more food after that.
