Other than the food being a subpar experience; bacon burnt, inexperienced server, and a sticky table.. we were charged $2.00 for a condiment of raspberry sauce.. just a dollop, not too much to even make a dent in the bottle. When asking the server about the bill she said that they charged that much for the bit because it didn't come with the meal. Fair, but again.. when did syrup cost that much? She did not say there would be an up charge she just have the bill and walked away. Times are hard for everyone, but don't try to nickel and dime customers for basic condiments without specific details first and foremost. And the French toast wasn't even good with the terrible sauce. Will not return. read more

Great family run restaurant. Obviously specializing in breakfast items, they also offer both Mexican and American sandwiches, burgers and other lunch and dinner items. We stopped in for lunch and were looking for Mexican. On the surface the offerings were pretty typical, but the quality was better than usual. With pleasant and attentive service this is a great place to stop. I had the posole, a soup with hominy and chunks of pork. It was fabulous! The pork was tender and delicious, the broth was yummy and the parts all worked together perfectly. The posole was accompanied by fresh house made tortillas. My wife had the chimichanga based on earlier reviews and was very pleased. Just as in earlier reviews the beans and rice were both excellent. Unlike some places, here they clearly out real care into preparing the sides! Good food served by friendly folks at a fair price. Can't ask for much more than that! read more

I definitely recommend dipping them in the sauce that comes with them. I'm updating my review. I understand times have changed since my las review, but when I went for brunch with friends the other day something was definitely different. I ordered breakfast knowing I'd be taking half home because of their abundant portion sizes. However, this time breakfast looked like a child size meal, which would normally be fine, but the price was the same. I regret not taking a photo. My 7 yr old ordered the regular sized biscuits and gravy with hash browns, cleaned her plate and asked to order more food after that. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I hope they fix it soon. read more

Noe Jose immediately made us feel at home. The server (who turned out to be one of the owners, Jose) made it a point to know our names and welcomed us with open arms. Every detail in the restaurant has details to make it feel like a family home. My recommendation would be to try their Mexican entrees. It is some of the best authentic Mexican food (best homemade tortillas) that I have had on this side of the country. We went and got dinner one night and the breakfast food seemed so good that we decided to go back the next morning - and it did not disappoint! The Huevos Rancheros with the homemade tortillas were some of the best I have ever had in my life - and I grew up in a Mexican household. Came in on a Sunday morning expecting to wait in line for a table. It was packed but we got lucky with one table open. Shortly after, there was a line but it moved quickly and while I was seated, there doesn't seem to be more than a five minute wait time. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and since we are in Washington. I half expected some pace picante thrown on some eggs. Man, was I WRONG! Home made tortillas and salsa!! I asked for tapatillo when the meal arrived, when the waiter said " would you prefer home made salsa my mom makes?" Well, yes I would! It was amazing!!! This place was amazing! I had the Homemade Chorizo Con Huevos, added in cactus and mushroom, with the homemade tortillas, and homemade salsas. And when I say homemade, I mean they made it themselves! All the food was incredible, the service impeccable, and the vibe exactly what we were looking for! We hadn't eaten breakfast yet, having raced from Port Angeles to the 9.3am ferry to Whidbey Island, so this meal really hit the spot. It's in a larger building, and has an odd indoor/outdoor feel. The food is sooo authentic and yummy! I am not a big fan of corn tortillas, but they make their own....and yes, add it to the list of yummy! If you aren't a fan of Mexican food, don't fret, they have other items to choose from. My son, who LOVES a quality Fettuccini Chicken Alfredo tried theirs and he would have given it 15 stars if possible. Final note, it is family owned and they are all very sweet and hospitable. Friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Vegan option now available (but not on the menu, pictured with this review), it's a black bean chipotle patty with sautéed veggies on top (ask for no mayo). We came across this gem on our road trip through whidbey island. Its in a cute outdoor mall area. This family owned business did not disappoint. We had chorizo on huevos - they were deliciously seasoned! Home made tortillas were fresh and authentic. My hash browns were the right amount of crisp! Service is great!! Great little hidden cafe run by two brothers. Every time I have been in the service has been excellent with the place being clean, drink refilled quickly, food cooked in a timely manner and delicious. The menu has lots to choose from : Mexican dishes, Burgers, Breakfast all day, Sandwiches, Desserts, pasta, chicken dishes and even fish and chips. Their clam chowder is rick thick and scrumptious. My wife's go to here is the cream cheese stuffed raspberry french toast, which is rich, and flavorful without being overly sweet. i tried a bite and it reminded me of a warm raspberry cheesecake flavor. So far I've had the chicken taquitos, which when you see the plate you can be deceived as they are "very" filling. I've also had their fish and chips which in my opinion beat out island cafes, and the enchilada plate, which while the sauce has a milder flavor than most, the ground beef in mine was well seasoned and not bland like most places that do Mexican food. Over all it is now one of our go to places.. Now why not five stars then? Though not the restaurants fault at all and I want to make that clear, parking here is at times frustrating enough not to go down on pioneer even for the great food especially around lunch time. Blame the city for it not being 5 stars. We need a good safe big parking lot in this part of town for the great businesses here, City Council. read more

Although only moderately busy for a Friday evening, the acoustics are such that it was quite loud My order was taken by an accommodating and pleasant young woman A different gentleman delivered my plate, and that was the last of the service There was no opportunity to point out that the chicken had no seasoning, not even salt, the bland enchilada sauce was lukewarm, as were the rice and beans. The excellent guacamole would have been delightful if I could have requested some chips and salsa (which also could have redeemed the unseasoned enchilada) Tracking down a server I requested my meal to be boxed as I could fix it up at home. Everything was scraped into a box, no bag to carry it (I use a walking stick and was an uphill block away)Put it into my own bag to drive home to freeland where I found my meal all mixed together, including the lettuce bed for the guacamole and half of it dripping through the bag Had there been some flavor the hassles wouldn't have mattered. We tried out this fairly new eatery on the island. It has a catchy name (Noe is pronounced "no way") and tasty food! I had their steak tacos; my wife had their quesadilla Michoacan. One of the owners, Jose, welcomed us to the restaurant and shared his vision for this place. I suspect they will do well! The food was unique and flavorful! The service was awesome! We are also planning on a trip for breakfast here. We went back for another meal and I tried the Chile Relleno combination. It was the tastiest chile relleno I have ever had, including those made at some of the better Mexican restaurants in Southern California! If they ask, try some diced radish on your food. I ordered basic eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and a side order of biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were light, fluffy, and awesome! Noe Jose Cafe is by far my favorite restaurant on Whidbey Island, for many reasons. The food is always good, the restaurant is clean, the menu offers a wide variety that everyone in my family is satisfied with. Their sanitation/PPE procedures are impeccable. Most importantly, as a business owner, I have enormous respect for the six brothers that own and operate this restaurant. Their consistent and high level of customer service seems to be the foundation and philosophy of a fantastic place that has weathered the storm of the pandemic. Customer service is a lost art these days. Over the last several months, while opening an office, we have ordered food from Noe Jose sometimes 3 times a week. The professionalism and courtesy of this staff has been deeply appreciated. We have become very loyal patrons, even having them prepare food for our wedding at the end of April. Wasn't the best Mexican food I've had but surely not the worst. Wasn't a big fan of the appetizer we received either which included the onion rings and jalapeño poppers that tasted like something you'd get off of a carnival food truck.
