We came for Dine LA dinner last night. It was $45 for select items on their menu. (They did not offer Happy Hour since they were offering Dine LA menu.) I enjoyed everything that I ordered, from the generous portion of mussels, the crispy whole branzino, and the crème brûlée. My husband also had the mussels, the lamb shank, and rice pudding. He did not care for the lamb shank. He said it was tender, but would have preferred a different sauce. He also wishes that he got the crème brûlée instead. Our server was ok, but seemed rushed. There was a lot of free 2-hour parking when we arrived for an early meal at 4:30 pm. If there were more entree offerings during Dine LA, I'd go back again. But I didn't see anything else that I'd be interested in trying. The restaurant is nice inside with spacious modern interior.

Stopped in before a movie and happened to catch their Happy Hour. I'm vegan, so I ordered the hummus plate, guac and chips, and fries. Everything was tasty, though the portions were on the smaller side. The service was a bit unusual. It doesn't seem like you get a dedicated server --whoever walks by handles whatever you need. It made things a little confusing since the person who took our drink order never returned, and we ended up flagging down different staff members for the rest of our visit. My wine also took quite a while to arrive, even though we were seated at the bar and I noticed other drinks going out first. It may have just been an off night. The vibe is cute, and the shared parking with the cinema makes it a convenient stop before a movie.

We love Nomad, especially during Dine LA where we get to enjoy a 3-course meal at a set price. By making it a date night, we get to experience 6 different items with flavors and ingredients from different parts of the world. My favorite today was the sea bass, it was beautifully served, raw, I was very pleasantly surprised. I almost asked for chopsticks until my wife reminded me this is a Mediterranean dish. I forked it and it was amazing, fresh and tasty, highly recommended! The short ribs is usually favorite, it came out nicely, falling off the bones, only thing was the sauce was a bit salty for me. I wish there was a side of rice or bread, ha ha. May be I will ask the polenta to be in the side in the future. My wife had the Hummus Meeze board, we loved everything on it and wish there was a bit more bread to help us finish every bit. She also had the filet mignon Loma Saltados, it was also deliciously done. For dessert, we shared crème brûlée and tiramisu. Both were yummy and gone in no time.

Global spot that is a hidden gem. Came here for brunch with my family and we made a reservation online in advance. It's located by the movie theater and there was plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Our waitress was friendly and we were able to promptly place our orders. My boyfriend and I split the chimichurri steak and eggs and the French toast. My sister ordered bacon on the side for her French toast (extra cost) while my mom had the enchiladas. They're vegan friendly and my dad had the Mediterranean kebab which was vegan. We all split the mussels to start as well.

Parking in the nearby garage but finding the entrance isn't straight forward if you haven't been here before. Nice ambiance (open architecture) and pretty prompt service but the kitchen took forever (like closer to 45 minutes) and the place isn't slammed nor even that full. Good food (tried the lamb kebab and shrimp) but pretty pricey. Was going to order desert but she brought the check so fine. They are not very interested in our custom.

My friend and I decided to try Nomad for dinner tonight. The restaurant is modern and decorated very well. They were serving their regular menu plus a prix fixe menu for DineLA week. I decided to try the prix fixe - Course 1 - Burrata & Pistachio Pesto, Course 2 - Filet Mignon Lomo Saltado, Course 3 - Creme Brulee. My friend had the Nomad Hummus and Grilled Loin of Lamb. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The food was flavorful and great quality. Initially, I was going to order the Balsamic Braised Short Ribs, but unfortunately, they had run out. The filet and lamb were both tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Creme Brûlée was excellent, though I would have wanted a thinner burnt sugar layer. It was still so good. Scott, the owner, came to our table to chat with us and ask us about the food and how we found them. He was friendly and grateful for our patronage. He shared how he came up with the concept of the restaurant. We really enjoyed the conversation. I definitely will return because there were so many other items on the menu that I would like to try in the future.

Loved the spaghetti & grilled shrimp entree! My co-worker & I both ordered this, both of our shrimps were cooked PERFECTLY! I am very picky about my shrimp and hate having it over cooked. These were not, so tasty! I loved the flavor of the pasta too. My co-worker thought it was a bit too salty but I didn't think so. I do like stronger flavors. I would go back for this dish.

    TIRAMISU
    Kelly S.

Ordered two of the tiramisu as takeout ($14 EACH) and their portion size was incredibly small. Maybe 2 x 2 x 2 inches for $14 EACH. Yikes. If the piece was generous or even just a decent size, that would be fine... but at this price point I'm astounded and very disappointed. So puny it was pathetic. Will never order from here again ... taste was mediocre too, kinda tasted like it went bad.

We were greeted by the manager and then ignored for a good 20 mins before anyone came to check on us to see if we were ready to order. Ambiance was nice, with indoor heat lamps and a cozy feeling. We opted for the DineLA menu so I ordered the scallop crudo aguachile, crispy branzino, and the coconut rice pudding. Everything was delicious! I was the last one to get my food and they forgot to bring my rice bowl and dipping sauce. The overall experience was good. I may return in the distant future.

This has become one of our favorite places and in the steady rotation. Happy hour has some great deals and the nomad fries are so good. Everything we've had here is good. We also came for dine LA, which was a great deal.

Met a friend for an early lunch. Free parking is available for 90 minutes albeit I don't think it's a problem unless it's super busy. The restaurant is on the backside of Rosecrans, catering to the office and businesses in that location. Nice ambiance, good service, but boring food. If the owners' aim is to showcase some international favorites I suggest they go and revisit some restaurants that feature some of their dishes. The papaya salad was bland and the papaya did not seem super fresh. The shrimp on the side was a boring presentation. The lamb shishkabob platter was a nice presentation but the lamb was not grilled. It was soft and not fatty at all but again, so tasteless. Not for me.

Had a sister date and she picked nomad for us to meet up at. The place is tucked in the corner so it's easy to miss but once you get inside, it seems very spacious and they have a covered outdoor area that made it very nice even though it was chilly outside. We decided to go with the dine LA menu, which had three courses. Our first course came out and I had the scalloped chilies and my sister had the beef risotto. Both of them were so amazing. The flavor of the risotto with the mushrooms to die for and the beef was so tender didn't even need a knife.. We got to chatting And it was over 30 minutes when I realized that our second course had not come out. During that entire time I had not seen our waiter and they had not checked up on us, so I tried to fly down a waitress who told me she would be right with me and then never came back. Our waiter came around a few minutes later, and I asked about our food and he said that the kitchen was understaffed and they were a little busy because of dying in LA. Two other tables that came after us had gotten their food before us. And I understand that restaurants can have call out, but that would've been good to know at the beginning not after we had waited 30 minutes. It was about 45 to 50 minutes after we had our first course that we received our second course. I had the chili Reno and my sister had The lamb skewer. The food was absolutely amazing. The chili Riano was gushing with cheese so much flavor, nice and crispy outside. The lamb super tender everything was just on point. We had the tiramisu and the rice pudding for dessert to finish off our three course meal. The food here is amazing. I would come back for that alone and recommend them for that sole purpose. I do not mind waiting for my food, but we should have been told in advance that the kitchen was behind, and if they were sold behind, why were two other tables getting their food before us. Also, the fact that we did not see our waiter for that entire 30 minutes was very concerning and nobody else came to check up on us as well. There's construction going on so we actually almost missed it because it's around the corner from Orange Thorpe. Plenty of parking and I'm sure it'll look a lot better once the construction is done and it is opened up.

The food is solid. It's as tasty and well put together as I remember it to be. We started with the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits. I think these have been here since day one. They're FULL of lovely smoky bacon pieces and are at least 4" round! It's a pretty hearty appetizer. We quickly moved on to dinner, here's what the table ordered: Lobster & Sweet Corn Risotto - the risotto was cooked perfectly. Be sure to mix that poblano pepper butter in the middle up, it adds a great smoky chili flavor to each bite. My oinly complaint about this dish is that they used claw meat. I'm just not a fan of lobster claw, it's too gelatinously rubbery for me. Skirt Steak - Oooo, this was medium rare to perfection. The smoked paprika chimichurri gave a burst of flavor and a mild heat at the back of my throat. Chilean Sea Bass - Chilean sea bass always cuts like buttah! 2 people ordered this at our table and I'm pretty sure they loved it, that side of the table was pretty silent for 15 - 20 mins. Pork Porterhouse - This dish had the most flavor. The spaetzle was cooked and browned on the griddle, it had a fantastic crispy crust. It was a little on the salty side BUT I think 's because it needed more carbs to tame the salt. For me, it would have been PERFECT with a little rice or mashed potatoes or creamed sunchokes. Parking still sucks in MB but right behind the restaurant is a parking garage that's free after 6 pm.

I prefer Post, and Arthur J, and strand House, but this is a good restaurant. I don't get the low rating. Been coming to this location since it was Pierre and it has always been good. So, I have a new rating system......I will write what I feel honestly about an establishment. The only ratings I will give are 5 stars, which is enjoyable, or 3 stars which is "needs work."

We started with the Fett'unta and Grilled Sprouting Cauliflower, and both were excellent. The cauliflower was easily one of the standout dishes of the night. For our mains, we shared the Love Letter Discoteca pasta, Whole Branzino, Angus Ribeye, and both the Japanese Mushrooms and Spicy Soppressata pizzas. Everything was flavorful, well prepared, and perfect for sharing. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell a little flat. The dining room was very loud, and we were seated right by the front door, so there was a constant flow of people walking by. I understand every restaurant has a few less-than-ideal tables. I worked in restaurants myself but it definitely affected the experience. If you're dining with a smaller group, I'd recommend sitting at the bar instead. From what I remember from previous visits, the bartenders are fantastic, and I actually prefer the atmosphere there. I had also noted on my reservation that we were celebrating my birthday. I wasn't expecting a complimentary dessert or anything, but I was surprised that neither the host nor our server acknowledged it with even a simple "Happy Birthday." It's a small detail, but thoughtful hospitality goes a long way in making a celebration feel special.

We started with cocktails. I had the Mary Sue ("Pornstar Martini") with vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, salted lime, fino sherry, and champagne foam. YUM. Dangerously good. My husband had the Rob Gentile, an elevated Old Fashioned, and was thoroughly impressed. Service was great, and the food was top-notch. Let's dive in! Meatballs with beef, pork, ricotta, potato purée, tomato sauce, Grana Padano, and arugula--WOW. Cheesy, saucy perfection. Beef Tartare with tonnato, shallot, marjoram, crispy potato, and toast. Delicious and a generous portion. I ordered Coop's Pork Shank with Lambrusco-mustard glaze, aromatic jus, and potato purée. Tender, flavorful, and that broth was incredible. It paired perfectly with the broccolini... ...which we didn't order. We spotted the table next to us enjoying it with burrata and immediately added it to our "next time" list. My son ordered the Chicken Parm with capellini. He loved the huge chicken parm portion, which successfully fed his bottomless teenage appetite, but declared the pasta "too eggy." Teenagers are basically unpaid Michelin critics. My husband ordered the Scarpinocc with braised beef cheek, brown butter, sage, and saba. He loved it, but our resident food critic chimed in with, "I don't really taste the beef." Dessert was the cinnamon bread pudding with ice cream and caramel drizzle--absolutely worth saving room for. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we left happy (and full enough to feed a small submarine crew). Definitely coming back!

Walk in and you can't quite tell which restaurant you're in -- one side goes modern and colorful,…read morethe other leans warm and classic, like two different owners split the lease and never agreed on a mood board. Somehow it works. It's the kind of unconventional layout that shouldn't hold together in a city as design-precious as LA, but does. And the room is doing something rarer than good lighting: it's actually mixed. Old couples, loud groups of twenty-somethings, families -- nobody looks like they wandered in from the same zip code, and everybody looks like they're having a good time. The staff match the energy, warm without being polished into blandness. Service isn't the story here, but it's not a complaint either -- just solid, present, out of the way. The food tells a more complicated story: a kitchen with real technique that keeps stopping just short of finishing the thought. The octopus starter is the clearest example. The char never showed up -- the tenderness is there, the cook is right, but a good octopus dish lives and dies by that crust, and this one arrived soft all the way through, more braised than grilled. It sat on potatoes that were seasoned well and under-dressed everywhere else -- just leaves, nothing pulling it together. A scatter of herbs, or better, some roasted peppers playing off the reddish char-that-wasn't on the octopus, and this becomes a dish instead of components sharing a plate. At this price, it needs to look like someone meant it. The squid ink pasta has the same issue in liquid form -- a sauce that reads more Southeast Asian than Italian, which isn't a knock on the flavor, but it's thinned out, watery in a way that suggests tomato water crept in where it shouldn't have. The texture's good. The idea's good. It needs to be tightened. Where the kitchen finds itself is the spicy rigatoni -- pasta cooked with real conviction, al dente without apology, sauce rich without tipping into heavy. It's the best thing on the table and it knows it. The only note is the same note you'd give a chef who's proud of a sauce: cut it with something acidic. A little lemon would keep you eating past the third bite instead of feeling it. The mushroom lasagna is lovely and insulting in equal measure -- the pasta is buttery and thin in the right way, the mushrooms taste like they were cooked with attention, and the portion is a joke relative to the check. Order it knowing you're paying for a taste, not a meal. And for a menu built on sauces this good, the absence of bread service is a real miss -- this is a kitchen that's leaving free money on the table. Dessert continues the pattern of "good, not quite resolved." The chocolate cheesecake barely tastes like cheesecake -- the cream cheese is a whisper, the chocolate does the structural work a proper crust should do, and the crust itself collapses before your fork gets there. None of that makes it bad. It makes it a very good chocolate dessert wearing a cheesecake's name tag. A little berry, some real tartness, would give it the contrast it's currently missing. The bread pudding is the safest thing on the menu -- a touch dry, restrained on sweetness in a way that reads intentional rather than accidental, topped with ice cream that tastes like it came out of a tub because it did. If I could, 4.5 stars

The roasted cauliflower was hands down the best part of the meal. It was seasoned so well and honestly addictive. I could not get enough of it. The chicken pot pie came out piping hot and was really good, super comforting and flavorful. My only small wish is that it had pastry on the bottom too, since it would have soaked up all the juices. The burger was fine but nothing special. I think it could have used some lettuce and tomato to help tie everything together. The onion rings were solid. Service was good and it was not too crowded for lunch, which made it a relaxed and enjoyable place to sit and eat.

Definitely suited our sensibilities to be close to the heart of this treasure, plus it can get cold out there! When our friendly and helpful server learned that we'd never been to FwD before, we were both treated a tasty amuse, a Peruvian scallop, one of their specialties. Served chilled, absolute heaven. Simple, fresh, delicious, and very pretty atop its shell. We ordered an appetizer, a different scallop dish, Pan Seared Diver Scallops. (Parsnip-potato puree, brown butter ponzu, capers). So good. Succulent, perfectly cooked and devilishly satisfying with its rich, savory flavor. We enjoyed the one dish that have been on their menu since the beginning, Koshihikari Rice. (short-grain Japanese rice, overnight chicken dashi, shrimp, uni, blue crab, cage-free egg yolk.) Wow. So much happening here, and yet it's a complete package. All the ingredients meld together sumptuously. It akin to Paella, or perhaps to a stuffed Risotto, although the Koshihikari Rice was very much its own dish. The server swerved and mixed the egg yolk on our plate, and we loved it. Our strategy to try a number of dishes and yet still have room for dessert worked. Many great choices, and I doubt we'd be disappointed with anything. However, we had heard from the table next to use that the key-lime pie was must. Happily, they were right. This Key Lime Pie is just sweet and just tart enough. Though I am not Key Lime Pie expert, this one struck me as imaginative with its meringue colony crowding the pie's surface for additional dessert debauchery. There nothing overwhelmingly citrusy about it, and it was light enough to help you feel satisfied and just right. The coffee was good, too. This is a low-key yet lovely dining experience in Manhattan Beach.
