Didn't try any coffee but my dad said it was good and strong. The overall ambience of the bakery was very nice and a very calm environment overall. Staff was very nice, helpful, and patient with my big family. We stayed in the outdoor patio for about 2 hours and it was very comfortable. Overall aesthetic of the restaurant was my biggest like. The restrooms were clean and were nicely decorated. Nonna Mercato is very popular, and for good reason. They're a small market with packaged goods, but also a delectable bakery, coffee shop and restaurant. They are mainly a farm to table Italian joint with offerings like fresh hand-rolled pasta, paninis and brunch. The Italian Muffin was incredible. The fennel sausage packed such a punch and it was a really filling dish. We also enjoyed the French Omelette, which was more simple in flavor but still wonderful. The dressing on the crisp lettuce was one of my favorite parts of the dish. We took a look at the bakery case and knew we had to try the matcha croissant. It absolutely did not disappoint! My galfriend and I came here for brunch. She ordered the quiche and I ordered the turkey Panini with a side of matcha croissant. The matcha croissant was so good. My Panini was decent. I think I'm one of those gals that need a hot sauce on the side like Tabasco. They were able to offer me a fermented hot sauce, which was decent. I enjoyed my panini. The server was decently attentive. I think it was just really busy, so she had to check on a lot of tables. The next time I come back. I want to try a bunch of their pastries. Stopped in at this French-Italian inspired spot for a pastry to go on my way to a meeting. The menu includes breakfast items, pasta and full meals to enjoy on the outdoor patio as well as a pastry case indoors and a refrigerator with grab and go items like pastas, burrata and sauces; also canned and bottled soda and juices. The patio had quite a few guests, and the line at the counter indoors was busy but moving along well. The staff seemed very organized, but they were hustling! I was amazed at the amount and variety of pastries they still had in the case at 11:30 on a Saturday morning. Most items were huge! Everything looked fresh and inviting. Lots of croissants- filled or glazed, muffins, cookies, hand pies, scones, and a few gluten free and vegan items. Prices vary but I think fair for the quality and size. They also sell cupcakes, breads, pies, tarts and coffee or tea drinks, even bottles of wine! I wanted something substantial but not sweet on this visit, so I was excited to see a spinach and feta hand pie. It was flaky and the filling inside rich, creamy and satisfying. A little salty but just delightful. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom was clean as well and actually had a lovely decor. A lovely spot for brunch! This spot was so cute and vibey. Came around 10 am on a Sunday and there already was about a 30-40 min wait! There's a tiny lot for parking in the back but you might be better off finding some street parking. Some people don't care where they park and will box you in. Aside from that the staff was super nice! One of them noticed I got boxed in and went inside to look for the person that blocked me from leaving. The waiter was also very helpful with suggestions. For drinks we got a Spanish latte, peanut little, and a cold brew. All of them were delicious! For food we got the Nonna breakfast, Baked eggs, and the ricotta, honey, & pistachio brioche. I usually stop in for coffee and a pastry but my friends were visiting from out of town and we decide to sit down and grab brunch. I had no idea how much I was going to love it. From their wine list (they had some natty wines on the menu, which I was excited about) to their fresh made in house pasta, everything, and I mean everything was excellent. We arrived at 11 AM on a Saturday, and had to wait a little over an hour to be seated. Luckily, there are lots of cute shops to explore in the Bixby area as you wait. Spanish lattes aren't on the menu, but I saw on Yelp these were quite beloved, and our waitress told us they could still make them for us. So glad we asked because they were so good, with a hint of cinnamon. I asked for mine to be less sweet, and it was perfect. Not pictured is the ricotta, pistachio, and honey toast, which was not too sweet or heavy. We had thought this would just be one or two slices of toast, but it came as a giant cube of soft brioche, absolutely smothered in the smooth and fluffy ricotta. This was the most unique dish and our overall favorite. The carbonara was too peppery for my husband, but I enjoyed it. The steak frites were cooked a bit too rare (we asked for medium rare), but the steak was quite delicious when dipped in the bernaise sauce. We both thought the fries could've used some more seasoning, as they were somewhat bland. Service was excellent - my husband accidentally left behind an important document when we left the restaurant, and when we rushed back to ask if we could look for it, one of the staff kindly donned gloves and started rifling through the trash, and she found it for us! We finally sat down for brunch at one of our favorite neighborhood spots--usually we just swing by for coffee and pastries, but this time we decided to dine in for our 18th wedding anniversary... and wow, I and so glad that we did! We ordered the brioche loaf with ricotta, honey, and pistachios, which was next level--I could've had just that and been happy. I also ordered the baked eggs and let me tell you... Loved this place. They have a GREAT patio. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to our first timer questions, and were super helpful. We just stopped in for a quick breakfast on the way to the beach and we got a double chocolate muffin, a drip coffee and the peanut espresso - A MUST TRY! TLDR: Nonna Mercato is probably hands down one of the best places for coffee, baked goods and lunch in all of Long Beach. Handmade pasta and their various croissants are must haves (try the everything or the ham and cheese)!! Airiest, fluffiest quiche I've ever had. Consistently fantastic food and pastries. I bring my clients here frequently but also come for brunch and lunch whenever I can, with my husband or with friends. Everyone loves it; it's fresh and beautiful handmade food. My go-to food order is the tonarelli carbonara or the French omelet, but everything is good. I love to try any seasonal items they have and during the summer they did a delicious pre-fixe menu dinner on the weekends. They also serve beer, wine and champagne; perfect for day drinking or girls brunch. To-go items are available inside, anything ranging from their pasta and sauces to tinned fish and chocolate. The dining is entirely outdoors. It can get a bit noisy from the street: traffic and sirens and your usual city noise. Despite this, they have created a lovely dining ambiance: fire pit, plants, shade for the sun and heat lamps for the cold. It's pricey, but the quality is there. The bad: wait times can be long, service can be slow and parking can be challenging during peak hours. Try going before 11am or after 1pm. Came here with a party of 4 on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30PM. Was told it would be an hour wait; however, we were seated after 20 minutes. All seating is outdoors, and they have seasonal menus that change every so often. There is a bakery inside where you can purchase baked goods. Their cookies are delicious. I want to try their pastries next time. Food: -Mafaldine (nonna ginell's bolognese, percorino basil $23) 5/5 This was delicious! Had the perfect amount of salt, meat, and tomato sauce with cheese and basil as a garnish. Would definitely get this again. -Winter Panzanella (burrata, nonna vinaigrette, chicory, squash, dried cherries $19) 3/5. The vinaigrette was a little too bitter for my friends and my taste. We wouldn't get it again. -Spaghetti (nduja, pomodoro, pecorino, rosemary $22) 4.5/5 The spaghetti is what you expect but a little elevated. Personally, I would get the Mafaldine again over the spaghetti. -Tonnarelli Alla Carbonara (guanciale, egg, cracked pepper $23) 4/5 This pasta was the prettiest out of the 3. If you like more white/creamy based sauces, you should get this pasta. -Baked eggs (tomato & sweet pepper stew, goat ricotta, toasted bread $17 5/5) This is basically a shakshuka. I love tomatoes in general, but the flavor in this stew was delicious. The bread is also one of the better breads I've ever had. -Frites w/ Bearnaise Sauce $9 (3/5) Unfortunately, the fries were soggy. The sauce was also under seasoned. I wouldn't order this again. TLDR: Order the mafaldine if you like tomato sauce/Bolognese pastas OR if you like white sauce/creamy egg pastas then you should order the Tonnarelli Alla Carbonara. We waited about an hour before sitting down for a very delicious pasta lunch. The noodles were thick and homemade, and the sauces utilized veggies in a fun and tasty way. The Maccheroni was VERY meaty, with lots of cut up broccolini stems mixed in. The Rigatoni was salty but balanced with the slight bitterness from the greens in the sauce. Very true to the kind of dish you find in countryside Italy. Oh, also, the watermelon spritzer I had was delicious! It inspired me to go home and make my own. Spanish Milk Tea is a fantastic drink to start with, and it goes great with all their baked goods. I got some giant, very sweet-coated croissants to go as well as a cream-filled cruffin and some cupcakes. All are nice, and they have plenty of breads and simpler pastries as well. The apps are amazing. Bruschette should be basic but they make it their own with gorgeous wedges of heirloom tomato that carry such a deep flavor. The Tomino Alla Piastra is a mild and smooth, slightly nutty cheese that pairs beautifully with all its toppings, the mustard, apricot, even both together. I'm a sucker for handmade pasta, and the Rigatoni is covered in a tomato-based sauce that you can't stop eating. Pappardelle is always my favorite pasta, but this meaty ragu sauce is a bit too big and heavy for me. Good stuff, and there's something for everyone. Lovely place for brunch or lunch. read more

Ooooof! Absolutely loved Nonna's! Tried a couple things here and it did not disappoint! We had to togo everything so we ended up getting some baked goods (brownie, chocolate chip cookie and the chocolate cake doughnut) along with some pastas (pappardelle and mafaldine) as well as an iced matcha latte. The chocolate chip cookie was moist but also had crispy corners and the pastas were perfectly cooked and had great flavor. Lastly, I enjoyed an iced matcha latte, it was a nice little treat to go with all the other items we ordered. Can't wait to come back and try their other options. The restaurant itself is pretty small, they have an outside patio with several tables if you want to dine in. If you want baked goods or want to order to go you can do that as well. Ordering their menu items, it took about 15-20min but served fresh. You can enjoy a cup of coffee or baked good while you wait. They have plenty of street parking and have a small lot in the back of the restaurant. Hubby and I are already planning our next visit. Delicious pasta and great bakery! I first got introduced with Nonna Mercato at Downtown Long Beach farmers market. Each Friday their booth is filled with freshly baked bread and pastries. Their pastries are excellent! I also want to try their bread since I keep hearing good things about it. When I realized they had a full service restaurant in Bixby Knolls I knew I had to come check them out. On a weekday after an errand I decided to have lunch at Nonna Mercato. The fresh pastas appealed to me and I ordered the trottole. The dish was perfection! Perfectly al dente pasta with an umami-packed sauce of nduja, brown butter and sage. When I learned the nduja was house made I told the staff they should really sell it as part of their market offerings because I'd love to recreate this dish at home! The food and pastries alone were already worth a return visit but I have to add that the combination of the friendly staff and their lovely outdoor patio, made it extra memorable. That same weekend after my first lunch, I came back for a quick brunch with my husband. Happy to report that the espresso is expertly pulled and the sandwiches are also excellent! First time at this place and my wife and I tried their Summer Nights prix fixe menu. We dined outside so never saw the inside where I think there's a bakery. The outside is cute and covered but nothing you can really do about the traffic noise on Atlantic. Dinner started with 3 apps shared - arancini, bread and buffalo mozzarella. I've never been a fan of rice balls and they didn't convert me. But the bread and cheese were excellent. The next course was a salad, shared. It was good but the greens were oversalted. On to the pasta course where we could each make a selection. Honestly the size of the serving was enough to close out the meal. I couldn't even eat it all knowing there was a fourth course coming. Pasta itself was solid. Well cooked, sauced and tasty. Last up, mussels, which were in a well seasoned broth and came with bread to dip. My wife selected eggplant parm. It was good but the sauce had enough garlic to keep away the vampires for a lifetime. The waitress offered the dessert menu but I could hardly move after the four courses so we skipped it.
