Absolutely delicious! The first time we came to this restaurant, the line was down the street so we tried another place instead. This time was mid-week so we didn't have trouble getting in for lunch. We sat on the lovely patio and it was a beautiful day. Service was quick, helpful and friendly. The menu was great and our food was delicious. We ordered a few pastries and a Matcha inside before we were seated on the patio for lunch. My Caesar salad was good but my pasta was so great. I had the Casarecce and it tasted so fresh and light. Asparagus, pine nuts and lemon was the perfect combination. I was told they make their pasta from scratch daily with organic dough and without the use of machines. It did not disappoint. (After visiting Italy last year and tasting the difference between American pasta and Italian pasta, this place hit the spot.) From the service to the location to the delicious food, this place is a hit.
Nonna Mercato holds a special place in our hearts. They are like members of the family at this point because we are there every week reliably. At least a few times. Nonna has become our go to bakery, our sweet retreat, and one of our favorite local brunch spots. Now, they even have happy hour and, during the summer, dinner (Nonna Summer Nights)! And all of the food is amazing. Seriously, truly legit! We buy bread from there each week. No more "big box store" bread you freeze. They make their bread fresh daily. They only use fresh, locally sourced ingredients with no preservatives. It's nice to look at an ingredient list and not see a paragraph for bread (and be able to pronounce all the names!). And their cupcakes and sweets. Yo, seriously so good. And the thing is, because of the ingredients they use, we don't feel heavy or overly wired after eating cake or cupcakes from them. From other places you can tell they use preservatives, refined sugars, processed ingredients. But with Nonna, you can just taste the difference. We even had them make our special cake for our wedding! We recently tried their dinner (twice!) and it exceeded expectations. Now, mind you, all of their food has always been good but our experience was amazing. Their prix fixe menu was well put together, wine pairings on point, dessert was also delicious. Our favorite was the tiramisu! Also loved the spaghattini and casarecce pastas, and entrecôte di manzo, but everything was great. Their brunch is also great, you really can't go wrong on the menu. And I think we've gone through almost all of it! Finally, (if you've stayed with me this long!) the absolute best thing about Nonna for us is the TEAM. Hands down no question. The food is good, space is a comfortable neighborhood vibe, and all that. But truly the folks here are amazing humans. Always friendly, warm, and welcoming. If the management team is reading this, you all have a great group of people there! We will definitely be back (again and again and again) and you should too!
This was me and my friends 2nd time to the Summer Nights and last year we really really enjoyed it. Everything was delicious and we couldn't wait to go back. This time (yesterday), however, was not nearly the same experience. First of all, I realized we couldn't book a table for 8 people, so me and my friends book 2 tables for 8.30PM. I called asking if it's possible to put our tables together close or side by side, they said they will try their best. We all showed up at 8.30 and waited until around 9-9.15 because they only had 1 table ready. Ok. Come the time the other table opened and it's not even that close to each other. But it's okay, I respect the limitations on this part. No one came to us to take our order or even give us water until way later, and we got our drinks at 9.45. Another critique is that my friend called and ask how much corkage fee and they said $25. It turned out to be $40. Another disappointment, but it's ok. Not much can be done bout that part. Next thing is the food. We enjoyed the fried green beans. Crudo was really really salty, and it's not only 1 person thought that. We wondered if the kitchen mistakenly salted the fish twice. We enjoyed the peach salad. We ordered a few different pasta and the tagliatelle in particular was disappointing. It really lacked flavor that we had to mix the other pasta dish sauce to it. The pork plate was good, a bit small but we enjoyed it. Now the mussles and frites were disappointing too. The sauce just didn't do it for me (other friends agreed). I always talked really highly about Nonna Mercato (I also enjoyed the brunch so much) and always told people that this is one of my most favorite restaurants in Long Beach, but this one really missed the mark for me and my friends. I don't know if this would make us want to go to Summer Nights again next time. For $130 per person (after tax, tip, and corkage fees), I definitely hoped for a much better experience.
Nonna Mercato has been on my list for ages, so when I found out my friend took a job there as a pastry baker recently, I knew I had to take the opportunity to go support! Located in the quaint Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, street parking was plentiful right outside the restaurant. We came around noon on Saturday, and thankfully despite their busy brunch rush we were seated immediately. Even though all of their seating is outdoors, tables are shaded by overhanging canopy and just added to the cute southern Italian bistro vibes of the place. The menu had a solid selection of both brunch and lunch items - I loved the Burrata di Campagna, which was flavorful with just the right amount of tart from the heirloom tomatoes. For my main meal I had to go with the Casarecce - one of their pastas that's made fresh in house daily. The braided pasta was wonderfully textured and soaked up all the pesto sauce without being overly oily, a perfect meal for a hot summer day. We finished our meal with a Nutella Croissant, from their artisan bakery that also makes their bread fresh every day. Perhaps I am a little biased, but the laminated dough was perfectly light and flaky, encasing a very generous filling of hazelnut chocolate cream. Our check at the end of the meal even came with a custom drawn postcard by one of the Nonna Mercato service staff - another present to add on to what was already a gift of a meal!
I've been here for brunch with my friends a while back but have been getting their bakeries from the farmers market few times, and also because of them, I came to know about Stereoscope coffee! First off, they are a super popular spot for brunch, especially on a weekend, so highly suggest you come with a reservation ahead of time. We ordered a few pasta dishes and they were all very good, but, they are a bit over the top oily for me. Even their salad, which I forgot the name now but it was the one with a variety of greens, it was delish but after few bites, the olive oil caught up to me because it was drench in oil. So overall, food wise, good but kind of really heavy because of how much oil they use. Their coffee, matcha, and bread/bakery are very good otherwise. If you just come for coffee or matcha, and buy some beans home, or the chocolate they have inside, you will be happy! I would likely come again, not for the food, but for their baked goods and drinks!
I arrived on a Friday morning at around 8:30 and there was a slight wait. We were lucky and found parking in the small lot in the back. The service was good and there were great options for breakfast, but we were just a little disappointed with the tomato egg stew breakfast dish as the eggs yolks were not runny at all. The quiche was solid so I wouldn't mind trying more of their pastry items.

Held a birthday brunch here with friends and had a wonderful time. Pastries, cakes, and bread here are superb. Since the dining area is so small, they are strict about dining within a set amount of time. The ambiance is amazing but the time limit is the only drawback.
I had a great experience overall! Absolutely in love with this cute and Earth toned chic eatery and bakery. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. Nonna breakfast; all were flavorful and well-prepared. The food really stood out. Coffee may not be their strong suit, but thankfully the excellent food more than made up for it. Be prepared for a long wait if you're going for brunch as it gets busy. Still, we'll definitely be back.
Summer Nights is such a treat. I really really wish Nonna offered dinner year round. Seriously, I wish they would commit to weekend dinners year round. They're so popular, it would be easy to fill.
To say we are a "regular" is an understatement. We first discovered Nonna many moons ago. We were attracted to their pastries especially their Everything Croissants (it's heavenly). It had become on of our favorite breakfast spots but they also serve lunch and dinner! Food: Their pastries are beyond delicious with lots of sweet and savory options. Fresh baked breads. On occasions they would have baked at home items in their fridge. I always grab way too many things but they're all worth it. For dine in - We tried their pastas, sandwiches, and salads - all delicious! Their yummy lattes are made with in house syrups. Service: Fast and friendly for both dine in and take out. Environment: Great vibes and nice ambiance. Cute covered patio seating with beautiful foliage. Inside there's a drinks and pastries counter for quick pick up or to-go. Notes: Nonna is usually packed so expect long waits for brunch on the weekends. Parking lot in the back is very limited and street parking can be a bit difficult so be aware. Pro tips: Come early and park on the street if you want breakfast or be prepared to wait.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and there was a bit of a wait, but I heard that is expected here as it is only outdoor seating. This is my first time here and while we were waiting we went inside in the bakery. Such a cute ambiance as there have different food items, wine, olive oils, baked bread, and their famous pastries in there! The line gets long and some of the pastries get sold out right away until they make a new batch. I got the pistachio cream, the ham y formaggio, and the classic kouign amann and the chocolate cake. I also ordered the seasonal drink - lavender matcha. After ordering from the bakery, my party was seated. To start we ordered focaccia, burrata di campagna, and the classic country bread. The focaccia was nice and fluffy. Easy to pull apart and it pairs well with the burrata and tomatoes. The country bread was delicious with the cultured butter and jam (which I think are made here). I ordered the salmon lox - everything bagel topped with a dill cream cheese, smoked salmon, shallots, capers, and topped with basil. It was very rich and filling. The smoked salmon was perfect for me, not too smoky. My boyfriend doesn't like smoky so he didn't like the salmon, but enjoyed the cream cheese. That was my favorite part also! My boyfriend ordered Nonna's breakfast - eggs, bacon, toasted baguette, market lettuces, and seasonal name - with a side of fennel sausage. This meal looked really good. The sunny side up eggs looked nice and runny. I tried the fennel sausage which was really good. The fennel was different. It had nice texture and brought a lot of flavor to the sausage. My boyfriend's brother got the tagliatelle - Nonna ginelli's bolognese, pecorino, and basil. I didn't get to try it but it looked really good. The sauce looked perfect with the bread. He also ordered Spanish latter which wasn't too strong. And my lavender matcha was a nice refresher throughout my meal. It wasn't too florally and perfect enough where you can still taste the matcha. Definitely recommend!
This place was no reservations so we had to wait 30 minutes because it just has patio seating. We waited because it looked really delicious. We all got different milks for our matcha latte and it was delicious. I got the steak and fries but subbed for a salad and I felt like it made the meal perfect. The meat was cooked exactly how I like and it was very easy to eat and spiced perfectly. The focaccia was also very good but would be nice if it came with four instead of three per order. The ambiance is very relaxing and I would definitely want to come back when they do summer nights and have reservations then.
One of the best Long Beach has to offer is definitely Nonna Mercado. This place is relaxing yet exciting at the same time. I get excited here for their lattes and their brioche. They make their own bread and all other ingredients. You can tell in the flavor and execution of the dishes. It's one of the best brunch spots in town. We arrive at 8am when they opened and it was the best brunch. Service was just outstanding. They have outside patio as well so it was very nice. Some notes: very limited parking lot. Went for another lunch! We shared the Ricotta Broiche which is enormous. It's delicious and more of a treat than a meal for me. I'd love to share it whole drinking some coffee. Amazing bakery! I like their breads, pastries, and the focaccia pizza. There was an incident where we were given the wrong bread that we ordered online (ordered olive which I think they don't make any more). My husband went back to the staff inside to say the bread tasted sweet and he just said raisin bc it was the first thing that came to his head. The staff said oh we don't use raisins and did look at the loaf. When I saw the loaf at home I said this is definitely not olive, and I looked at their menu and there was a walnut and cranberry loaf which this definitely was. We expressed our concern over email bc I felt my husband was not taken seriously when he had tried to say he was given the wrong loaf -- and luckily neither one of us has a nut allergy either! But the manager handled it well so we were very appreciative to her. I haven't had a chance to eat lunch here yet but I'm sure I will. read more

ive only heard wonderful things about nonna mercato! came by to pick up some pastries but will be back to dine in their patio for brunch! our visit was close to 5pm on a saturday so most of their selections were gone. def need to come here early. cute cafe. purchased a baguette, passion fruit kouign amann, regular kouign amann and almond croissant. the passion fruit kouign amann was my favorite! love anything passion fruit/guava . the tart flavor with the crispy flakey croissant = chef's kiss! service was okay. parking: i believe there is a lot behind the bakery. i just parked across the street. read more
I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful little restaurant. Almost everything I've tried here is well prepared and delicious. On my last visit, my dining buddy and I split the cheddar bacon quiche for an appetizer. Some of the best quiche I've ever had. Cheesy and not too eggy. The eggs were beautifully soft. I had the rigatoni with fennel sausage and my friend had maccheroni with short rib. The best thing about this visit was our server, Matthew M. I have dined at many restaurants in my life and the service we received from Matthew is up there in the top five. He is personable, well trained, and very familiar with the menu. It's too bad that I didn't discover this restaurant sooner but now that I have, I will be here often. It's a great place to stop by for a quick pastry and coffee. It's been awhile, maybe a year or so, that I visited here! I received my birthday $5 off email and voila! I came on 3/31 Thank you for the reminder, Nonna's! I missed you! It's always crowded, but you can find a seat and enjoy a cup of drip + a pick-apart-apple fritter and soak up their ambience on the patio. Their baked goodies are all scrumptious and delicious! They stop serving food at 3pm. I stopped here for a late lunch at 3:01pm only to be given that unfortunate information. Since I've had this place bookmarked for well over a year and, as I never get to this area, I decided to at least get a pastry and coffee at the bakery counter (which remains open for a couple hours past their table service). I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat). I was intrigued by a small vegan chocolate donut and the kind woman behind the counter said it was popular so I got one of those too. It looked cute and, well, chocolate. I took my order to sit outside; they have a large, comfortable, covered patio. The chocolate croissant was flakey-good but nothing out of the ordinary. The little chocolate donut was fantastic, fresh with a delicious chocolate coating and the donut itself was yummy. The vanilla latte had no vanilla flavor (I feel certain they forgot to add it and what I got was a regular latte) and the latte itself was stunningly lousy. I drank half and tossed the rest. A small parking lot can be found behind the building, down a long driveway, or just find street parking. read more

Has a European flair. Great outdoor dining similar to Sunset blvd. without the paparazzi. The pistachio brioche was to die for. Oops, ate before taking a picture. I also had the Italian muffin which was huge. Fennel sausage with scrambled egg and farmers cheese. I'm majorly ADHD. Half way through I realized I hadn't taken a picture. I first discovered Nonna as a cute pastry and breakfast spot, then realized they also do pastas for lunch and dinner! Their pastries are amazing, lots of different sweet and savory options with perfectly flakey pastry dough. I always grab too many and they're all worth it. They also serve my favorite sweetened matcha latte! Service is fast and friendly. My sandwich was really good, I'm glad I ordered it to go. This place was a madhouse on Sat morning. I really wanted to buy some pastries and bread while I was there but there was a super long line for the bakery. Long wait to eat there and it took me forever to find a parking spot. There is a small parking lot in back but it was full, hard to find street parking. Had to park 2 blocks away. I will be back on a weekday because the bakery items and bread looked so delicious read more

It was a beautiful day to eat lunch at Nonna's ! Wonderful ambiance with outdoor seating . I always experience nice vibes with their customer service. My usual is stopping by in the mornings for a latte and a morning bun or croissant or pastry of some sort. I love the kitchen area where you can see preparation of the breads being made, nice large window gives you a glimpse of them rolling dough. Today, finally opted for a sit down lunch with the family. This is a popular place to dine, I Joined the waitlist online while making our way to Nonna's and looking for street parking . Everything we ordered was yummy! For appetizers we ordered the bruschette, the market lettuce salad was light and refreshing. Entrees ordered: Rigatoni- nice kick, nice balanced fennel sausage flavor, rigatoni pasta thick texture Carbonara - loved the egg! Made it so creamy, so good, not overpowering flavor , my favorite ! Tagliatelle- can't go wrong with grandma's recipe , excellent hint of wine flavor, good balance, not tart Steak frites - steak cooked perfect, came with a creamy, very complimenting sauce to dip the fresh cut frites, nice fried texture, not greasy read more

Listen here, Nonnas DOES NOT MISS everything we ordered and saw coming out of the kitchen looked, smelled and tasted amazing! I'm actually upset it was my first time here and they've been open for 4 years!!!! It's truly a brunch GEM Walking up to the restaurant I could smell delicious fresh bread and olive oil. My mouth was watering by the time we sat down. I had the pleasure of coming here with my girlfriend for brunch we ordered family style, which is my absolute favorite because we both get to try more dishes. We started off with the appetizer that has fresh Barada cheese and heirloom tomatoes dryad with olive oil alongside fresh bread with flaky sea salt. This was hands-down, the best appetizer I've had in Long Beach. The ingredients are so simple but you could just tell everything is super fresh because there is an explosion of flavor that's indescribable. For main dishes, we went with the Bolognese and one of the breakfast sandwiches. It comes with an egg on top, but we got that on the side. This was also super good. We finished that dish completely. We also shared the pasta which had amazing flavor was bold and delicious. We decided to walk inside the restaurant and it's stunning to see the open kitchen layout. They have fresh ingredients lined up that are all imported so you know quality is their top priority. We finished the day with a peanut latte and two delicious moist cupcakes. We enjoyed the Red Velvet ! The lemon was a little bit too sweet, but they did try to balance that off with a salty butter cream. Service was very friendly when we sat down our server was on break so it took a little bit longer to get started, but when our server did arrive, we had put our entire order in and everything came out quick ! Nonna Mercato never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious, the quality is always top-notch, and every visit is worth it. My only wish is that they accepted reservations because there's almost always a wait. Other than that, it's one of my favorite spots, and I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

I've been buying from Nonna Mercado's bakery for over a year now -- their pastries, cookies, and cakes are consistently excellent. Everything I've tried from the bakery has been delicious, and I definitely recommend them for sweet treats or special occasions. A few months ago, I finally sat down for a full meal at the restaurant side -- it was a very special occasion, and wow, I was impressed! It was actually my first time trying their savory dishes, and everything we ordered was top notch. The pastas were exceptional -- I believe they're house-made -- and even something as simple as the Caesar salad stood out with great flavor and presentation. That said, be prepared: they can get very busy, especially during peak hours, and parking can be a bit tricky. But the food is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend for both baked goods and a proper sit-down meal. Nonna Mercado does it all with care and quality. read more
Went here for brunch and got some pastries to go. The breakfast was good, we tried the Italian sandwich and the croque seniora. The Italian muffin was interesting, their sausage is unique and very fine ground texture, a little overpowering for the eggs and cheese. The croque seniora is a more classic croque monsieur, very familiar and could have used more béchamel. Latte and coffee were both very good. The outside/seating area is rather small. I would expect a long wait time on busy days. Service was good but slow to get your food on a regular day without a wait Surprisingly, I was disappointed with their bakery. We tried several items and they were just okay, nothing special. The bacon croissant was dried out, none of the other pastries were as dry, but they weren't impressive either. Each item was over $6 and I was really expecting higher quality than I received for that price point. They looked better than they tasted in my opinion. I would not go back for the bakery. read more
Love Nonna, not so much the service and atmosphere. Food is delicious, pastries perfect, not a fan of the drinks in my opinion. Love the almond croissant and i forgot the name of the croissant looking thing with cream and berries inside lol but PERFECTION!! I've tried the drinks and they just don't do it for me, the coffee tastes watered down and just not flavorful. Not for me but hey it's my opinion you might like it! Now the service.. When I walked in I (and my family) were not greeted in any way almost ignored it felt like. No welcomes or greetings, we weren't even looked at actually! We had to ask to be helped and there were many workers available to help us and only one person in front of us (was not busy at all). The girl taking care of us wasn't rude but she wasn't welcoming or nice. Kind of just there and looked like she wanted to leave, I was asking for suggestions on pastries and her attitude was like she just didn't care. I asked for pastries and a little pizza. I asked for the pizza to be warmed and a guy rung me up. She forgot to include my pizza and I waited to the side for my pizza without even knowing she forgot it. They didn't ask if i was missing anything they just did not care. I've worked in food service, if you see a customer there waiting it's common decency to see if they need something or just check in. The workers literally ignored us if they weren't physically taking our order or ringing us up. How rude. I had to ask her about my pizza after being ignored and she completely forgot and had to ring me up again. Love Nonna but the customer service can definitely improve. read more
If you like a cozy warm environment, this is the place to be for some homemade fresh Italian food. Service could have been a little bit better, but the ambiance and food made up for it. My friend and I ordered the Radicchio and Apple salad, Baked Eggs, and Tagliatelle. Absolutely all were delicious! The salad was super refreshing nice on a warm day. Baked eggs had tons of flavor, but maybe needed more bread on the side. Tagliatelle tasted to perfection. We also toasted to some good peach mimosas. Fun dinner experience for a Prix fixe menu. Enjoyed the starters which was a lovely variety of items such as prosciutto, melted cheese, focaccia (freshly made in house), and some house mustard spread with pickled vegetables. Delicious! Ok, but the main course which I chose was the Roasted Duck (which wipes honey and black garlic)--omg! So delicious! I have only had duck at Chinese restaurants and though very tasty, is usually pretty greasy, but not this dish! Highly recommend! The little puff pastry that was also stuff with duck and the whipped honey was divine! My wife had their Beef Filet en Croute, and that too was outstanding! We will have to come back and try their classic lasagna -- our friends who invited us spoke highly of that dish too. Will definitely be back! read more

Parking either on the street or a couple spots in the back of the building. Staff was very friendly. They make all of their food from scratch. Started with a vanilla latte with almond milk, it was smooth, not too sweet, and didn't taste like it came out of a vending machine. Then ordered the Nutella croissant which was flaky, messy, and absolutely worth it. Also ordered the strawberries & crème croissant. Rich but not over the top. Both croissant had fillings in them. They are very big. Both very good in their own respects. Got the Nonna breakfast which included scrambled eggs, but done right. Eggs were fluffy, nothing overcooked, and the sides balanced it out. Like the jam and slice of bread, bacon. And salad. All very tasty. Ordered the brioche with ricotta, honey, and pistachio. That was the sleeper. Soft, slightly warm bread with that creamy ricotta and a little sweetness from the honey. The pistachios added that crunch that made it that much better. Ambiance has that rustic feel to it. What's not to love about Nonna Mercato? I just feel so happy that it's in my neighborhood and I can walk to pick up a pastry and coffee because the only negative about this place is the parking situation. On this particular day, I took my Mom here for an early Mother's Day treat. It was my first time sitting outside and the patio was comfortable and lively. Food was amazing - tasty, well seasoned and super fresh. Services was great and trust me, my Mom is in her late senior years and needs all the patience from wait staff and they did not disappoint at all, lol. Stopped by for some coffee and a pastry! Although we were the only customers there at the time service was very attentive and informative. And if you drink decaf, they can make their coffee drinks decaf! Great way to still enjoy their drink without the caffeine! read more

Are there any gluten free options?
Are you open for dinner? Also do you make pizza?
They are not open for dinner, only breakfast and lunch. They do offer a special "summer nights" prefixed menu for dinner, reservation only, during summer, which just ended in Sept. and they do not have pizza.
For the summer nights dinner, do you serve wine? Can we bring our own bottle?
Hi, yes we do serve wine. You can also bring your own wine. We have a $25 corkage fee per bottle, 2 bottle max
What is the peanut little drink?
It's my favourite drink there! It's an espresso based drink with peanut butter. It is creamy and rich, almost a dessert more than anything.
If I'm gluten free would I be able to enjoy the 4 course dinner?

Is the pistachio matcha croissant stuffed with a pistachio cream or any cream? or is it just dipped in matcha cream with pistachio on top?
