This was an interesting experience. I never had Pita Bread Soaked in Lamb Soup before so I didn't know what to expect. There was A LOT of pita bread soaked in there so it lived up to the name but at one point the pita absorbed most of the water/soup so it became a THICK soup with lamb in it. Maybe I ate too slowly but it was alright. It tasted good, I'm happy I tried it but I wouldn't get it again. The cucumber salad was tasty though. While we were there, we heard them shout the order to the kitchen a handful of times. It's clearly a very popular dish and perhaps I need to give it another shot in the future. Noodle Art is in a kinda sketch plaza... But the no frills taste and good price makes up for it. They do noodles and carbs justice. The 肉夹馍 or burgers are traditional and it is just the bun + meat. $7.99 each. Personally preferred the pork (腊汁) one over beef (a bit drier, and tasted like smoked/cured beef). It is best enjoyed with another dish as the carb! Most noodle dishes were around $13.99, including the lamb noodle soup and stir fried cumin lamb noodles. Portions are good. I liked the stir fried hand pulled noodles more and it would be well complimented by some soup or veggie sides. The signature lamb noodle soup is solid and good for a rainy day (it is raining as of writing). However, it might not be the best lamb noodle soup in the sgv. The noodles did come out a bit soggy when served (不够劲道) and really wished the noodle soup could include a bit more of the toppings (like tofu, glass noodles, etc.) Service was okay and note that you can grab water yourself from the dispenser. read more

When we were trying to order, it seemed like the waiter was not listening. Long and behold, he would try to get the wrong cold dish item from what we were saying to him. Pay attention please!!! Minus another star because the waiter kept saying "you guys are ordering a lot." Like seriously? Why do you care? If we want to order a lot, that's on us. We're the paying customers. I finally told him that we are ordering food to try here and to finish off as leftovers for the rest of the week, which finally shut him up. 1. Big Plate Chicken with Handpulled Noodles (3/5) The chicken was tender, sauce tasted mostly like curry and the thick hand-pulled noodles were nice on chewy QQ. I've had better versions of this elsewhere and in Queens in New York. There version was too thick in sauce and the sauce lacked "the addicting catch" that this dish typically has. 2. Stir Fried Beef with Celery (4/5) The beef was tender and had a good herbal flavor. Minus one star because the ratio of beef to celery was way off, with the celery trumping most of this dish. Overall flavor was good though. 3. Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs (3.5/5) I did not try this, but my brother said it was pretty good. The pork was tender and seemed fresh. The sauce is your typical sweet and sour sauce, but he felt it was a bit too watery. 4. Stir Fried Shredded Potatoes with Vinegar Sauce (4.5/5) The potatoes were shredded nicely and the vinegar sauce was spot on; not too sour. 5. Chinese Pork Hamburger (3/5) The pork was marinated well in sauce, but the overall flavor was lacking. Again, I think their sauce base needs a bit of work. It doesn't give you that dopamine hit of wanting more, which I guess could be good if you do not want to overeat, but it is sad for restaurant quality food to be this way. The bun also was not very crispy and did not have a fragrant dough taste to it. You're better off eating this at Xian Biang Biang on Valley Blvd. 6. Cold Dish with Cucumber salad, shredded tofu salad and pig ear (3/5) Not bad, but not the best. Their cucumber was fresh and had the crunch, but the garlic sauce was underwhelming. The shredded tofu salad was good, but they were skimpy on it. Pig ear per my mom was "just ok, good texture, but flavor is so-so." My mom was really disappointed with this place. She wanted to rush home to brush her teeth as she felt the food here had a lot of starch, which coated her teeth and made it unbearable. Finally tried this place after having it in my bookmarks for almost a year I got the 3 topping spicy noodle with pepper oil. They'll ask if you want it spicy or mild, but don't be scared to get it spicy because it's not that bad compared to other Chinese places. We got the tomato egg ( there's also tomato egg soup if you prefer) side dishes you can get at the mini display which includes tofu noodles, pickled cucumbers, spicy pig ears, seaweed, etc. My kids liked the pig ears, cucumber and tofu. We also got stir fried string beans, lamb, beef soup, mapo tofu and extra orders of rice. Everything was delicious and portions were generous. The staff was also really nice. The sandwich was just okay, the bread was a little stale as a vibe. The "spicy" hand pulled 3 topping noodles were zero spicy which was kind of surprising because the waiter asked if we wanted them standard spicy or a lower level and we asked for standard which came with a warning. Was gonna have a quick lunch at Mama Lu but I'm honestly not its biggest fan, so I did a quick Yelp search and found this place that is across the plaza and has a higher Yelp rating. I can't remember having anything worse in the past few years. Ordered a couple of noodle dishes and the bowl in my pic here shows how much I managed to finish before giving up. The noodles' texture is a far cry from good knife-cut noodles and it's just very doughy. The cumin beef fried noodles were bland but still better than any of the soup noodles. Amazing, affordable food! Came by on a weekday for lunch and the restaurant was packed with quite a diverse pool of people. I tried their three toppings spicy hand pulled noodles and it was so flavorful and delicious, while also being quite unique. I've never had a dish flavored the way they had it. This came in such a large bowl and ladle, so it was easy to mix well altogether before digging in. The belt-like noodles had a wonderful chewy texture. I'm trying not to drool while typing this... but holy it was such a delightful flavor explosion. Chinese Spicy Beef Cumin Hamburger ($7.99) - my friend LOVED this and it was indeed super tasty. Definitely spicier than I expected because of the jalapenos, but it was a good kick. We got beef that was sauteed with onions, jalapenos, chili sauce and sandwiched between the crispy Chinese-style bun discs. My friend kept raving about it. Get your napkins ready because this was a messy and oily burger. Mix Vegetables Salad ($3.50) - I made sure to order a couple of these cold dishes because it really helped with the spice. Celery, dried bean curd, carrots, peanuts, wood ear mushroom, and dried red chili pepper. Shredded Potato Salad ($3.50) - simple but delicious side of thinly shredded potato with a few shredded carrots and dried red chili peppers for color and kick. This is a great go-to side dish if you know you're ordering spicy entrees. The potatoes really temper the heat! The service was pretty good especially if you can get their attention. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. Sorry, I am not confidant in my Mandarin to have responded in kind! We had actually ordered the Sliced Beef and Ox in Chili Sauce too, but they forgot about it which worked out fine because we were both perfectly satisfied with the amount of food we had at that point. We had to ask them to remove the item from the check though. There's one uni-sex restroom in the back. Plenty of seating and abundant parking spaces as Noodle Art is nestled in a strip mall with many other local businesses. Come check out this fairly new noodle shop that hails from Xi'an, China. I am already thinking of when I can go back to get my chopsticks in another bowl of those hand-pulled belt noodles. TL;DR get the signature dry noodles, any of the hamburgers and a few of the cold dishes. Our bill came out to about $32 including taxes. Very affordable prices for delicious Chinese cuisine boasting complex, fragrantly spiced flavors. read more
