Found these guys through a friend at Stanford, and wow! I have a LOT of stuff, it took four guys 8 hours to pack, move & unpack, and it all went great. The main reason I'm taking the time to post a review is that every one of the guys worked so hard I can't believe it. The whole time, working so hard I was feeling sorry for them, and finally insisted they take a breather while I went to get some drinks for them. What a team, highly recommended! Shamrock Moving and Nor Cal/Sausalito Moving Company (an Allied Van Line company ) moved my belongings from San Francisco to Rhode Island. They did an excellent job and were very detail oriented and gentle with my furniture. The drivers were a husband and wife team from Port Murray, New Jersey named Agnes and Robert Rogowski. A bra was found inside one of the end table drawers when I opened it whilst unpacking....that was NOT there when the loaders took it away...I wonder what else I will find, and what the hell even happened...the table was covered and taped.... Update - texted the truck driver of the movers -- he said it was stuck behind the drawer and wouldn't close, so he pulled it out and put it in the drawer....we bought the thing on CL in 2008 - never pulled out the drawers...it's been there the whole time.... hahahaha read more

In May of 2017, I used NorCal/Allied Van Lines to move our household goods 2,600 miles from Sacramento, Ca to our new home on the east coast. It was the worst experience imaginable. They left the part boxes in Sacramento which I'm now told are some of the most important items of any move. We are now left with a Baby Grand Piano wrapped in blankets in pieces on our living room floor because the parts to assemble them were left by the driver (who admitted it) in Sacramento. The same is true of our living room couches because the legs were in those parts boxes. They literally destroyed our beautiful 200 year old Grandfather Clock that we paid extra to have specially moved with care. It arrived broken and in pieces. And if this weren't enough they didn't removed the transit bolts from our washer and it was destroyed when we used it. I was told to file a claim with their third party claims company whom they have hired to deny or minimize customers claims. They offered us $250 dollars and told us to go away. We had a very difficult office re-location move involving a heavy marble topped desk which was glued on and could not be taken off. Nor-Cal did a great job moving everything through with no damage to anything. Would definitely use them again. read more

From our agent, Dwight, to the driver, Mike, they made this portion of our cross-county move (from Alameda to DC area) stress free. Dwight was very flexible with our schedule as we got a quote from him in February thinking the move would be in April, but it ended up in August and he didn't need to come back to me with any additional charges. The driver and his crews (loading and unloading) were timely, professional and did what they said they would. When you move, you empathize with the guys doing the movie when you ask them to move heavy stuff into hard places--but they did so with a smile and "you got it." We purchased the insurance for our stuff, but we have not found any damage or scratches. No complaints and worth the money. read more

I rate them a 5 star because I had a very bad experience with another moving company (Northern America) and now I am moving from California to Texas I was very nervous in picking a moving company I called Allied moving company to get a quote for relocation Phil White came out to give me a quote I explain to him my concerns he assured me everything would be alright I'm still nervous because of the experience I had from the last movers anyways Allied Van lines came out on 4/13/18 and delivered on 4/17/18 everything went smooth the quote was accurate they even called me after the move to make sure everything was alright. My SO and i just purchased a home. We are planning a move, its 80 miles from where We currently live in San Leandro but still local. We saw a Nor Cal movers truck near our Current residence so we went to their website for a quote was prompted to leave our phone number, Website said that we would be contacted soon. Soon turned out to be 2 days later.. The person who finally did call me back was a bit on the rude side making her call to me for business sound like a total inconvenience to her day.. Trying to set up an appointment for the person to come to our home to give us an estimate turn into a whole other thing, Again making it seem totally inconvenient to get our business (Something about the estimator has to drive all the way from Sacramento even though their location is in Hayward) That one of us would have to be home all day taking a day off work because they couldn't actually give me a time that this person would be by. She then told me that she would contact the estimator give him my number so he and I could work something out. I never got another call back from him or her despite me calling and leaving multiple messages on her voicemail because she doesn't answer her phone. Now a week later and I haven't heard anything back from them and our move will be this next weekend. We have made other arrangements due to their lack of response and horrible customer service. read more

I gave them and A+ I used Nor-Cal Moving recently and they were GREAT! They picked me up on time and made delivery when they promised. The price stayed the same as promised, and their customer service was outstanding. The consultant we met with was professional and knowledgeable, and you could tell by the way he answered all of our questions that he had been doing this for a long time. We are completely satisfied with the move and recommend this company to everyone. If you are considering hiring a professional mover, then you should add this company to your list. They had a great A+ record with the BBB, and we saw their trucks in the financial district all the time. We thought that since Cisco uses them they must be good. We were right. Good Job! read more

STAY AWAY from this company. Their moving staff is fabulous but their billing/management/financial department is the worst. Right hand does not know what the left hand does. Different staff will send you email for bills already paid. You are transferred from one person to another trying to fix your billing invoices. They will hold your long term belongings hostage unless you are willing to pay an astronomical amount to have access. I will give 1 star and that is for the moving staff. read more

Over the past 30 years I have moved 10 times, mostly cross country, so I have a significant basis of comparison to evaluate moving companies. My view of NorCal Moving is that they are an absolutely extemporary organization which starts with Anthony Vukovic the gentleman who runs the company. A very well mannered but no nonsense executive who sets the bar very high for his team. And then his people strive to exceed his expectations. The crews show up on time, arrive with the best equipment, are obviously well trained as they arrive with a detailed plan, embrace Anthony's well mannered approach, are respectful of your furnishings in how they pack & load, take short breaks and finish on time. The smoothest and fastest International Move we had. I was very worried about organizing an international move, reviews on the internet did not help. Some customers were happy, some not. I am very grateful that my move from San Jose to London went very well. Bill was a joy to work with. He was very patient with all my questions, reliable, respectful and helped me all the way. We were ready for the move and customs. The crews were great in both countries: they were on time, packed super well, and were also very respectful. I did a cross country move with them in September and please do NOT use them to move anything....They were never on time and they damaged my items. The worst thing was that they stole almost everything in my car from my license plates to the air freshener (how pathetic).My car had put on a 150+ miles since I handed it over to them and they cant still find out who was responsible... Herewith I would like to give some feedback about the handling of my recent move from Novato, California to Bangkok, Thailand. The experience of interacting with the packing and unpacking staff was very positive. The crew in California was friendly and very accommodating with regard to logistical issues relevant to having 4 dogs and 2 cats in the house while the work was being done. The team here in Bangkok was equally helpful in that sense and eager to put things right. Unfortunately, however, the quality of the packing left a lot to be desired. I have moved many, many times over the globe - give me Asian packers any day - the packing is done really well albeit that items do disappear without serious supervision. I've never used Allied prior to this move and, based on a friend's recommendation, thought I would - YES, this friend's move was from Asia to the US - hence Asian packers! Worth mentioning with regard to the move in question: 1. Many wine glasses were broken which can be replaced but indicates clearly to me that not enough care was taken packing these fragile items. 1. Packaging was often damaged and open when brought out to be checked off of the list, especially those with linens and other soft goods were torn and arrived open - certainly not due to custom inspections because I paid a fee not to have that happen. 2. Astonishingly, none of the carpets, boxes with clothing, linens or other soft goods had any sort of de-moisturizing packets in them causing a musty smell resulting in a huge amount of unnecessary airing and refreshing of carpets, laundry and dry-cleaning to be done. 3. Several of my Adirondack chairs and loungers were packed without disassembly but some were taken apart, which, when this task became obviously to complicated, resulted in screws being simply sawed through. The crew here had the task to remove the old ones and replace these - how bizarre! 4. Get this though - one of my dining chairs was wrapped and then stuffed in the upper, removable portion of a 2-part valuable antique Chinese cabinet causing one of the legs to puncture through the side of it.... What a way to treat an expensive dining chair and a valuable piece of antique furniture. 5. To top it off, a large oil painting (125 x 125 cm) with lots of texture created by the paint was, prior to being crated, covered with paper, causing the heat from going across the Pacific and being in the Bangkok port prior to delivery to soften the paint and stick this paper to the paint over the entire piece. Never has this happened in the past and the unpacking staff were equally astounded. Obviously there was a serious lack of supervision during the packing and the experienced packers I was promised were not used throughout the entire process - other, corporate, jobs were more important and my little old private move, albeit still requiring a 40ft container, was squeezed in - this was also evident by how the job was originally scheduled and ended up being done in terms of manpower - different crew each day. Being on my own, it was impossible to check every packer - luckily I did discover quite a few items overlooked in cabinets and drawers... Yelp will certain get word as I've been advised to do and YES I should have used that tool to begin with - nonetheless no more Allied moves for me for sure - thank you very much! read more

Perhaps I was premature in this review. I have a chair the movers were able to get out of my former home, but could not get into new one. (Same size door). They tell me it will $1100 to have someone else bring it into my house as it has to be disassembled. read more

My family recently moved with this company from Santa Cruz to San Jose. The movers did everything, including specially wrap my instruments and all our electronics. Obviously those were very important things and they justifiably made it safe! We just answered some questions and stayed out of the way while the movers took care of all the work. At our new house the movers unloaded the truck 2x as fast as it took them to load it up. Everyone was so helpful, we will definitely be using Norcal for our next move, thanks guys! read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They STOLE our wedding presents! We used NorCal to move from the Bay Area to Austin, TX. They didn't show up the day before we moved to pack, as had been agreed upon. Our sales person cancelled the packing order without telling us. Instead about 10-12 guys showed up on moving day and immediately started compalining that they couldn't possibly pack everything and move it in one day. Besides, they didn't have enough packing materials. I tried many times to call our sales person and our office contact person, but neither was reachable (this was a Friday). It was utter chaos with guys running up and down our stairs, playing our piano, playing with squirt guns, and playing hip hop on my clock radio at full volume. The worst experience I've ever had with movers. At 8:30 pm when they finally were ready to leave, one guy handed me a sheaf of paperwork and asked to sign all the sheets so they could leave. I didn't have the time or energy to read what I was signing, but I truseted that Allied was a reputable company. I was wrong! When we arrived in Texas and started unpacking, we discovered our good silverware, expensive German knives, and many other items from the same drawer were missing. When I tried to file a claim for the missing items, I was told that since we signed off on all the boxes arriving we were out of luck. If we wanted to claim that property had been stolen, we needed to file a claim with our homeowner's insurance. Apparently, they think that their employees should not be held accountable for stealing! We are still pursuing this, but we strongly recommend people NOT use NorCal Moving Services. We should have used Chipman Relocations. The only good thing was the four guys who unloaded in Austin were great -- and appalled by the condition of our stuff. Did I mention all the damage? Which they won't pay for unless we drop our claim for theft? read more

Don't Book these people. We all know moving can be stressful. These guys made it 100% worse. My husband wanted to use a company associated with a national van line because he thought they would be more professional. Paul, the "moving consultant" came to our house to evaluate how much stuff we had. He was nice, calm and we felt totally secure. I told him that my SINGLE criteria for hiring a mover would be that our stuff would arrive two days after it left. We have a toddler and wanted to make the move as easy as possible, so wanted our things in the house when she got there. He "No problem-ed" us right and left. Paul told us he would send us a quote by the end of the day. Paul told us he would send moving boxes the following day. Three days later, a series of un-answered phone calls, and a "you just didn't get the email" later we received a relatively fair quote. A week later and ANOTHER series of unanswered calls we got some boxes, not what we had asked for, and some with blood stains. Another set of unanswered calls yielded another set of boxes which were usable. Paul had told us he would arrange for our car to be shipped and that we would hear from the car company. A week before our move we had heard nothing. We emailed and called Paul who didn't get back to us for 5 days (now one day before our move). We finally called his company and got the name of the broker to move our car, who had NEVER HEARD OF US. We called Paul AGAIN, who said, "Oh yes, let me get that information for you." While I had him on the phone I reconfirmed that our things would be there on Friday (our pick up was Wednesday). He mumbled something about not knowing exactly when the truck would show and then said it would be AT LEAST Sunday before our things arrived. We told him this was unacceptable and that he needed to fix it, and he mumbled something about never garuanteeing anything. He then tried to get out of me whether we were still going to use his company. I called his supervisor who was very nice (at this point I was incredibly upset and in tears). The supervisor Bev, was at least helpful and apologetic and told me to "sit tight" that she would call me back. An hour later (now 15 hours before our move) I had to call her back, and she told me that there was nothing she could do, that our stuff couldn't even get to us before Monday (Another lie by Paul). The long and the short of it (the long I guess) is that this was incredibly stressful, we ended up hiring Partners Moving in Mountain View at the last minute who gave us an overnight, exclusive move for a rate less that Nor-cal and were professional, followed through with everything, and made the move totally calm!! STAY AWAY from PAUL, and if he is any indicator of how this company works, stay away from the whole place. Paul blatantly lied to us to get our business, didn't follow through with anything without being badgered and made the two weeks before our move a nightmare. I will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

I would highly discourage anyone from using Nor-Cal Moving Services. I would love to give them a higher rating because of their actual movers (the people that came to pick up and drop off my stuff), but the whole experience just made it just another untrustworthy, unreliable, unresponsive and VERY overpriced moving company. I shopped around and got three quotes, all in-home estimates, and Nor-Cal Moving was by far the highest price; $800 more than the lowest bid. And, I only moved a very small one bedroom apartment. However, I went with them because they guranteed a short delivery window and assured me that I would get my delivery within a 2-day delivery window. This was all a lie from the beginning. I truly believe that they knew that they couldn't keep their promise, and that is why when my stuff was late, no one would really help me out. Especially the guy that worked with me from the beginning, Dwight Dunn. I have still to hear from him after my last conversation with him. They'll over charge you a lot up front and then not care about living up to their promises. The other bad sign was that they automatically charged my credit card for the full amount nearly 6 days before my actual delivery. This is not typical. You shouldn't go with a company that charges you before you get your stuff into your new place. Red flags all around with Nor-Cal Moving Services. I have yet been able to settle my claim, but I know that they are only trying to give me $75 per day for each day that it was late. I lost a lot more money by having to cancel a class, take time off work, and other expenses related to Nor-Cal's false promises. I am spending so much time and effort just to get that $75 per day now. Please do not use this company if you want a fair price, honest people, and your things delivered on time. read more

Do not hire them. We contracted through Allied Pickfords and ended with Nor-Cal Moving Services. We had the worst experience with them moving Berkeley CA to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Instead of using the two days that were originally planned for our cross-Pacific move, they crammed it all into one day to save their time. This meant that instead of packing up and then loading the truck, they loaded as they packed. This resulted in: 1. Total stress and chaos in our house, so that I was unable to give instructions about what was supposed to be left behind and what was to be brought (I had put different stickers on the various things to distinguish between what should stay and what should go, but they said as soon as they walked in the door that they used their own system and would not abide by ours). 2. Several things ended up not fitting (including large pieces of furniture). Had we had two days, we could have sorted out things that were less important and left them behind. In this case, they had packed everything in and did not want to take things out of the truck once they had been packed in because they wanted to be done quickly. This was also the source of tremendous aggression - the team was unwilling to consider my requests to take things out and reprioritize. 3. There were several teams of people coming in and packing, which meant, again, that any oral instructions were not passed on and the new people didn't know what was going on. 4. ELEVEN boxes were packed and left behind in the basement without anyone notifying me (I could not keep an eye on everything, it was such a chaotic day). When I asked them to come back and pick them up, they claimed there would be a significant charge. 5. Despite the discussions about having to leave much behind, they then ended up taking off with more than fit into one container, and ended up telling us that we needed an 'overflow' container or the things would just be left in the warehouse. We had already left the country so we could not come and get the things either. So we had to pay for more than one container. The entire email discussion that took place after was aggressive and frustrating, making us feel taken advantage of and leaving a huge hole in our wallet. 6. On top of this, the packers ended up using about 3 rolls of toilet paper and stinking up the toilet so badly that my 3-year old refused to use the toilet because it smelled so badly (and was just gross). 7. The did not mention in their instructions letter that we were supposed to pick up some customs paper upon arrival at the airport. Because of this I had to leave the country and come back in. We had the worst experience with Norcal Moving Service and/or Allied Pickfords. read more

100% POSITIVE. I used this company to move and they far exceeded my expectations. Everything that was promised by Paul was delivered. Free used boxes from their recycling program. I found out that they are the only CERTIFIED GREEN Moving Company in all of Northern California and this meant a great deal to us. The workmen were positive, professional and upbeat during the entire process. I have a huge home, and our move had many concerns including antiques, artwork, our cars, and storage until the kids finished the school year, but choosing Nor-Cal, and working with Paul made the whole experience a stress free event. They delivered 100% professionalism on time, and on budget. I would recommend they to my mom that's how good they were. Paul kept my file with him through the whole process, and even stayed in touch with us even on the weekends and with the early time difference of 3 hours. I called him way too many times, and he stayed with us like we were family. Nor-Cal Moving was simply the best choice, and out of the three companies that we interviewed we felt that they were the clear choice and we were right. Not a scratch on anything! I would not recommend this company at all. We had an estimate appointment scheduled with Chris but he never showed up. When I called him to find out where he was, he had no idea who I was or anything about my move. I had just talked to him two days ago! Then he said it would take him 2-3 hours to come over and asked if I still wanted him to come. While I was asking my husband what he wanted to do, Chris said their services were really expensive and that we would probably want to find another company. I told him he was clearly talking me out of hiring him and he agreed. There's more to the conversation that was incredibly disappointing but you get the idea. I could not believe the horrible customer service and how much he didn't even care that he was doing such an awful job. I cannot even imagine what a terrible job they would do with a move. read more

Minus one star because they outsourced their service to an other company which showed up at my house instead of using their own employees and truck. My company used Nor-Cal for my local move in San Francisco. Actually 5 blocks down the street. Not much volume, but valuable furniture. I had a great experience with Crown for my move from Europe a few years ago and had high expectations that were definitely not met. Movers showed up late. My building's concierge called saying that "it should be them having a snack downstairs" - They were finally here. The guys took their time... A friendly bunch but friendly isnt enough. The coordination with the crating company was null (probably not Nor-Cal's fault), got a mirror broken, making a nice dent in a wall that was just repainted... The mattress wasn't protected and ends up with stains all over (I wouldnt mind if it wasnt a brand new and very pricey one). I'll spare you the details. If you have a choice, go with Crown. A move is never a fun experience, and one should always expect minor losses. And that's why part of a moving company's job is to make you feel better about it. read more

I was running errands in Menlo Park and turned into a 1-way parking lot which was blocked by NorCal Movers. OK, fine. When I returned, my car was blocked by a bookcase. I suggested they might want to move their pylons to the entrance of the lot to prevent people from turning into the 1-way in the first place and a large, burly guy told me that I should "Have more common sense." I responded, "Come on, Dude, you can't see the pylons until you turn into the lot," he replied, "I ain't your Dude" and went on to threaten me physically by saying "Come on over here," while he and the crew moved the bookcase. If this is how the company treats people they inconvenience, I'd hate to see what they do to furniture. read more

I just recently moved from San Leandro to Tracy. At first I was unsure on what company to go with, but then a fellow coworker had mentioned nor cal and said things couldn't of went smoother. I'm so glad I took his advice. From the moment the movers showed up to when the truck pulled away, I was 100% satisfied! These guys were awesome!! When they first arrived they all introduced themselves to me my wife and son. There names were Joey, Scott, David and David Jr. After we did a short walk threw the guys didn't waste anytime and immediately started emptying the house. I couldn't believe how fast and efficient they were. They treated me, my family, the furniture and my home with the utmost respect. Things couldn't of went better from start to finish. We enjoyed these guys services so much that me and my wife prepared a meal for them and made them have the first dinner with us in our new home. This was the most pleasant customer service I have ever came across. Even though I don't ever plan on moving again I will defiantly be recommending them to anyone that is. OK - this is long, and I apologize, but I am so upset with this company and our experience. If you choose to use them, expect considerable damage to your furniture and to the house you're moving in to. Yes, we bought insurance, but that does not make this less frustrating. We moved from San Mateo to Santa Rosa, a "local" move, so we must not have been very important to them, despite the $5,000+ price tag for our move from a 1500 square foot house that only had two bedrooms furnished. The bozos packing our things "ran out" of pads and were preparing to drive off in their truck with our most expensive furniture, (Stickley and a large, expensive dining table) with only cardboard taped around them for protection. We freaked out and told theym they aren't going anywhere. It took us 30 minutes to find anyone at Nor Cal to talk to, and once we did find someone, we were assured that it would all be fine, this was "normal", and that they would pad everything once they got the truck to their Hayward office where the van would stay over night. We ended up providing a mattress pad to them to wrap the dining table in, which they then wrapped in cardboard, and allowed them to go. We were very upset to find that both our mission dining room table and Stickley table sustained considerable damage (ALL FOUR CORNERS OF THE DINING ROOM TABLE ARE DAMAGED!) They also "ran out" of hanging boxes and just threw our clothing into a box (which we didn't realize until we were unpacking). This caused actual damage to a leather jacket, and we have to have about 30 pieces of clothing ironed. Interestingly, we found they used some hanging boxes for purposes other than hanging, so they must have run out of other boxes too. Oh.... but you better believe they spent lots of time packing insignificant items ($10 plastic waste basket) in it's own box wrapped with 10 layers of paper and completely padded with wadded paper, padded by 10" of paper but were content with sending our most expensive furniture with no padding! Our kind estimator, Phil, said we could leave stuff in the drawers and save money on boxes and labor because the guys could just load and pad the dresser with clothing in it. However, the movers said "oh, we never do that!" and spent hours packing up all our clothes from every drawer, which we would have done ourselves with boxes we picked up for free. The estimator also said "if you provide some of the boxes, they will use those and that will save you money," so we got really nice boxes, used one time before and presented them to the movers who told us, oh, the boss gets made we don't use our own boxes. While unpacking us in Santa Rosa, I found the guys repeatedly BANGING a sofa against a door frame trying to get it to get it through. They did not stop banging and damaging the door frame (not just paint, but gouging the frame itself) until I ran over and made them stop. They then removed the doors, as they should have done to begin with, and easily got the sofa through. They tried to cover damage to our large wood dresser with one of those furniture stain pens, but used the wrong color. It looks awful and will need professional care to fix. I realize that no moves are perfect, but I use you to stay away from Nor Cal. Big mistake. Nor-cal did an outstanding job moving my small business across town. I work with a lot of professional services companies and they have been among the best. The staff was very reliable, personable, and professional. they gave us all the boxes (sturdy, easy to assemble, no tape!), then picked up and recycled the used ones after we unpacked. Their prices were spot on with competitors. They offered us either the cheep insurance (which only pays a little if something is broken) or full replacement insurance, which cost about $200 for $30,000 in coverage. We bought the expensive coverage but didn't need it because they were so careful. When they arrived they took great care to put things where we wanted and even helped move some of the the existing furniture that was placed poorly by our furniture vendor. I've noticed many of the negative reviews for Nor-Cal have been for inter-state moves, where they hand off part of the move to Allied. Here's the thing... I know of no case where an inter-state move has ever gone well! So chalking the bad experiences up to Allied, I rolled the dice on Nor-Cal hoping that the positive reviews on here (mostly for local moves) were the rule, and not the exception. I was glad that I did! My move was within SF, about two miles, and I had a 1 bedroom apartment. Elevators on both ends, although the place I was moving out of had some strict HOA rules. Phil Barry (estimator) came out to my old place about two and a half weeks before my estimated move date and gave me a price quote on-site. Very nice and reasonable guy! He estimated a 4 hour total move time (double drive time included) and quoted me $130/hr for three movers. $130 may seem high to some of you out there, but it was the lowest quote I received for three people (I spoke with 5 other local companies) and any lower quotes I found were for only two movers. I was a bit skeptical because Nor-Cal was "corporate" and I have always had good moving experiences with "family-run" companies, but Nor-Cal did offer something that the others wouldn't: Nor-Cal would handle all of the SF street permits for me! I still had to pay for the permits, but not having to deal with SF bureaucracy was one less headache. Of course, those of you living out in The Richmond, parts of Portrero Hill, or even Marina may scoff at actually getting street permits for a moving truck because it's fairly easy to double park / find parking / block off parking spaces there, but when you're moving into a building off of Geary & Van Ness and your street is a major bus lane... yeah, it's probably wise to follow SF city guidelines. All-in (including the permit), the not-to-exceed price was $800 (not including tip), which is about what I expected. I had scheduled the move for the morning time-slot. Got a call the day before and was told the movers would be there between 8am-10am. Moving day comes and I get a call at 8:10am telling me the movers will be there at 9am. They actually showed up at 9:30 (the one ding on the day). I wasn't too worried because I had my elevator booked until 12pm. The "moving clock" didn't actually start until 10 because they had to fill out paperwork at my loading dock and prep my building's hallways with floorboards (told you... crazy HOA rules!) Now, I had moved all of the fragile items (flatware, glasses, wine/liquor, artwork) myself a week before, but this was the first move I've ever made where absolutely NOTHING was scratched or broken!!! I was amazed. Pablo, Carlos and Oscar wrapped all of my furniture in blankets and cellophane, boxed up my 55" plasma TV (for free), provided me with three free wardrobe boxes, and handled every box I had packed with care. I had to provide mattress bags, but they put them on for me. The move-out took about 1.75-2 hours, then they took a 30 minute lunch break (on their time) and then headed over to my new place. Move-in took about 1-1.5 hours. They were done by 2pm. Overall, a very pleasant moving experience, and I would use Nor-Cal if/when I move within SF again! read more

Nor-Cal and Allied Van Lines provided flawless service from start to finish for a recent cross country move. Every person involved in the process was professional, responsive, compassionate, and super nice. Phil Barry, who came to our home and provided the estimate, was absolutely fantastic! He answered all of our questions throughout, from the initial home visit to subsequent follow up phone calls and emails. He was simply outstanding to work with. Jatskio Bogdan, the Allied van driver was also exceptional. He was in constant communication with us and did a wonderful job directing his crews. He was terrific! In addition, the crews at both ends were well-trained and incredibly respectful toward us, our possessions, and our living space. Thanks to everyone involved in our move for making what was necessarily a stressful experience just a bit less so because of their experience and the confidence they instilled. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have the Allied/NorCal team helping me move. Paul Swaim was a liter God send he helped me with EVERYTHING. Even brought me packing materials and wardrobes so I could get as much stuff done myself as possible(WHICH WAS MY REQUEST) The guys that came on move day Fernando and Manny were FABULOUS, FAST and FRIENDLY. We were incredibly pleased with the service NOR-Cal provided our K - 8th grade elementary school. They mounted 20 large floating storage units into 10 classrooms, moved in a large shelving unit, and mounted a dry-erase board in our faculty lounge. The job was labor intensive and much larger than what was outlined in the original work order. Despite these unforeseen challenges, the workers embraced the job with positive attitudes, great diligence, and a tireless work ethic. The job was finished in two days and our teachers were quite pleased with the completed job. I look forward to working with Nor Cal in the near future; they provide excellent service in a timely manner. read more
