I came here last night at 6pm and made the mistake of not bringing my appetite. There is a hugeee parking lot but it was full and i ended up having a decent walk to the restaurant. My friends told me they walked in and they already had been served calamari at that point which was pretty good. The server regularly was checking in but not overbearing I thought i ordered that bread with olive oil, but what i got was so much better. Might be the best garlic bread I've had and it had to be the truffle added in. The spicy rigatoni pasta i only had one bite but really good and had something in it that was crunchy i liked. I'm not even a pizza person like that but the spicy pizza was bomb. Didn't taste spicy to me which was a relief. Whatever was put into that bread pudding dessert was special. I thought i disliked bread putting up until last night. First time is the charm!!! Took my daughter to a celebratory college acceptance lunch! We had truffle infused garlic bread! It was the yummiest thing I have ever tried. Unfortunately, my experience at this North Italia Restaurant location was far from enjoyable and significantly below the standard I've experienced at other North Italia Restaurant locations. The food was served cold, which was a significant letdown and suggests a lack of attention in the kitchen or with the serving staff. Additionally, the drinks I ordered sat unattended at the bar for an extended period, resulting in heavily diluted and watery beverages by the time they reached my table. This visit did not meet the standards I've come to expect from North Italia Restaurant, and I won't be choosing this one again. On my radar for some time, and it didn't disappoint. Best parts were some pasta dishes, kale salad, tiramisu and the service. I made a reservation as we were a group of 10+. It was easy and they called to confirm day of we were coming. We were seating inside which was very loud and a full house for a Saturday night. We were a little squished, but made it work. I came here on the recommendation from a friend, around dinner on a Thursday night. We ordred a the white truffle bread to start and my god, was it so delicious. The ricotta and the mozarella cheese on top, it was so good. Higly highly recommend as your starter. We then ordered the braised short rib, and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The asparagus was grilled to perfection, the polenta absolutely delicious, and the short rib was just so perfect. I want to try everything else on the menu now. Went here on 9/22 for a birthday brunch with the kids. We've been here once before but never so early. So glad they open at 10am for breakfast, because we didn't check their hours when we drove here. Kids don't like the truffle spread (they like just the bread) so it's more for us. I ordered the chicken pesto and it's delicious. I'm biased towards pine nuts and there's plenty of it. Kids got spaghetti and cheese pizza. Spaghetti noodles are the fancy hollow kind where sauce can get into it. Pizza is very cheesy and has a nice light crispy crust. Husband got the steak and eggs w/potatoes. He said they were pretty bland even though the steak had sauce on it, but I think it might just be a breakfast thing in America to have unsalted steak and eggs. Adding salt was fine. They noticed the kids were trying to see the people cooking (there's a big window that allows some behind the scenes) and offered to show them the pizza ovens. Very sweet of them to offer, they were excited to see. I mentioned it was my birthday and they offered a free dessert off the menu! So many decadent desserts that were a little too adult to share with my kids so I picked a pistachio gelato. Can't say no to North Italia. It's always a solid place for lunch or dinner for any kind of occasion. I came here with a few friends on a Friday night. It was pretty busy, as expected but we were able to get seated right away. The service was pretty slow on this night. We waited over 30 minutes before any food arrived to our table. I ordered the spicy vodka but unfortunately the pasta came severely undercooked. Either that, or the dish was just left out for a long time because it didn't come out hot. I was pretty disappointed but didn't send back the dish because we were ready to just leave after being there for so long. We didn't want to wait even longer for them to remake our dish. Nowadays it is hard to get a bad meal if you know what you are doing. My wife and I are finding that we often go to restaurants that have good servers because it makes such a big difference in our experience. Lately we've been going to North Italia because of one server in particular named Maya. She's so welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu that we've ordered a few things we rarely order on her recommendation. Most importantly, Maya was really helpful regarding foods that might bother my wife who has many allergies. Kudos to management for doing an excellent job training this young lady. And kudos to Maya for taking her job seriously, doing it with a smile, and giving us one more reason to head back to North italia for one more delicious meal. read more

We arrived at 5 on a Saturday and wanted an outside table. They were all empty but we were told there would be a 10 minute wait - we saw no activity on the patio - we waited about 15 minutes and asked again and were taken to a table. The table was very dirty so after sitting with no attention from anyone for about 5 minutes we flagged someone and asked if the table could be wiped off. She said yes but never came back and we flagged another person who came back with a damp cloth and wiped the table quickly with very little result. We let it go. We waited for our waitress for probably another 10 minutes and finally were able to order the "grilled bread and olive oil " . It was so disappointing - it was toasted to almost burned on one side and there was no olive oil or balsamic or Parmesan on it to speak of and none on the dish if you wanted to dip. Most good Italian restaurants do a nice bread with olive oil for dipping for free - theirs were costly and extremely dry and disappointing. When we got our dinner orders the chicken Parmesan was also dry with very little sauce and no visible cheese of any kind. In fairness, the chicken itself was very nicely cooked and tasty, but we asked for more sauce and some Parmesan and received one tiny cup of half-filled grated Parmesan for two orders of the chicken. Good Italian restaurants always bring a fresh Parmesan grater and apply it per the customer's direction. The Alfredo side was rigatoni and the sauce was more like a thick milk sauce. Not bad, but not very impressive. My husband had the "Chicken Scarp" which was very good and he enjoyed it. When the bill came we asked our waitress to split it on two cards but one couple had a gift card so he asked her to apply that to his half. She smiled and said "sure" and then applied it to the whole bill instead. We of course worked that out ourselves but she never came back to ask if everything was okay. We left the bill on the table signed and left - never to return to this particular North Italia. It's always been good and we were very disappointed. If we feel a North Italia urge ever again we'll go over to Del Amo where the service and food has always been great. read more

I rarely write any reviews, but overall I tend to have wonderful meals here, but the last two times...and especially last night, this was awful. I ordered a selection of appetizers and salad for my main meal. Both hot dishes were anything but. The meatballs were literally cool. Not warm. Not tepid. Cool. The broccolini was flat-out cold and not cooked at all. I sent both back and it took some time to get them back, while my dinner partner had already eaten their main course, they finally came out...and again....literally not even warm! I sent it back again...and this time the assistant manager came out to apologize. I told them I understand...they have off nights. It finally came out, generally hotter but not steaming...as I used to get as a rule. They did comp the two hot dishes but I just would rather pay to have properly made hot meal since it takes too long to eat when you're sending these plates back ...twice. Why don't cooks appreciate hot food needs to be served hot! You can wait for food to cool, but sending back dishes to be reheated takes a LOT more effort and leads to wasted food. North Italia El Segundo..please improve. Overall, I really like the location and for the food... until these last two meals, you almost never disappoint. read more

My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday. The portions are large so it's great we were able to share plates. For starters, we ordered the calamari, ceasar salad with salmon and a truffle mushroom pasta dish (can't remember the exact name) but wow, delicious. Instant fan! An alarming experience: When a Seating System Feels Like Discrimination. Unfortunately, a troubling and uncomfortable ordeal. What happened to us at this North Italia spot was more than just disappointing. It was deeply unsettling and, frankly, unacceptable. We arrived hopeful, ready to enjoy a meal, only to be swiftly and silently sidelined. Though the inside of the restaurant was clearly not full (less than half occupied in fact), we got seated outside at the very back, next to a tarp, ISOLATED from other diners. It was not just uncomfortable; it felt like an intentional exclusion. The fact that we had to ask to be moved inside, where a BUNCH of tables were readily available, was jarring and left us feeling undervalued. This was not a simple oversight. The lack of sensitivity was glaring! Whether intentional or not, it reflected a profound failure in hospitality. But the true sting came AFTER WE LEFT: As we tried to enjoy dessert at a DIFFERENT SHOP OUTSIDE, a staff from North Italia sought us out, not to apologize, but to confront us over a comment I had left on our receipt. His approach did not come across as understanding nor caring, but rather defensive and dismissive. We were left feeling accused and cornered rather than heard. The confrontational staff mentioned their "seating system" in defense of the front staff. So now I guess I can only assume that maybe they're trained not to ask the clients either and to just seat them according to system plan even when it feels discriminatory? What a cold, impersonal protocol that in this instance, made our group of minorities feel marginalized and unwelcome. Again: Imagine feeling all of this, only to be confronted (when we already left and on a different spot) by a senior staff in a manner that felt more like an attack than an apology, with no sincere effort to understand our side. Perhaps we were wrong not to request a specific table right away? And yes we fully understand the cliche "the customer is not always right," but this goes beyond right or wrong. It is about being treated with dignity, regardless of who you are or where you come from. I sincerely hope management takes this as an opportunity to review both their seating practices and approach to guest feedback. Kindly remember that every guest deserves to feel safe and welcomed, if not honored. After all, when you pay on the higher side for a mediocre food, the least you expect is to be treated with genuine courtesy. Anything less is not just a bad experience. It is a failure of conscience. PS The quick remark on the receipt was meant to be a small, private note because I honestly wanted to avoid writing an online review and thought the front staff just needed training. And yet, here I am because I realized and agree after the other one's act that it's not the front staff but a reflection on broader values. read more

Restaurant The restaurant is nice and looks great. It's definitely a cool space to be in. It's well lit and has multiple options for seating. And it's open and I like open area. They have an outside area of you perfer to enjoy the outside and if it's cold they do have hear lamps. Staff The staff was great, and our waitress provided us with a ton of I formation about the menu and personal favorites. She was friendly and made us feel welcomed, and she was always smiling, which was great. She checked on us but didn't hover over us all night. We appreciate that. Food We ordered the small plate shrimp scampi and the house meatballs. Amazing, both dishes were great. The shrimp scampi was perfect, and the butter sauce and seasoning were on point. The meatballs are made fresh and sit on top of a bed of polenta. With red sauce everywhere. I have to say that combination was poppin. Loved the small plate options we chose. For the entrees, we ordered the strozzapreti and the braised short rib. The steozzapreti was not that great and seemed to lack sauce. The noodles were undercooked and didn't really taste that great. The braised short rib came with polenta and vegetables. It wasn't bad at all. It was tender, and the portion was decent. Drinks The drinks here are awesome, and they are not shy on the pour. I ordered a black label and Coke on the side and got almost a full glass of schotch by itself. Two thumbs up. Location The location is great and has plenty of options to explore. Delicious pizza and pasta! Unfortunately one of my friends had ordered the soup of the day as their meal and then when all of us got our food the waiter came out and said he had the soup of the day wrong, so they didn't have his meal. My friend wasn't going to get anything then, but the waiter suggested a salad or something so he opted to get a Caesar salad instead. It came out and was just a few pieces lettuce with dressing and Parmesan. No croutons or anything. Paid 17$ for it. Wowza of a dining experience. My coworker and I went here for lunch because we previously loved the pasta here. Our 1st time we sat outside and it was a bit cold because the wind tunnel path where we sat. Today we decided to sit indoors to not freeze. I'm glad we did because the attention from the wait staff was superior this time. We hade our waitress recommend many of her favorites and she knew all the ingredients that was in each dish. That made it so easy to choose what we wanted. These are some of the courses we chose. The funghi pizza. Exquisite, clean, earthy, and balanced flavors. With a crust that without toppings that would be a great starter bread dish. I really enjoyed this pizza. Next I ordered the chicken Parmesan entree. Holy moly, that was next level good. The rigatoni was cooked to an Al dente perfection while the chicken Parmesan's crust was as beautifully breaded with it fully absorbing house tomato sauce and mozzarella. I ended my day with Affogato. This is incredibly complex with the chocolate coffee beans, vanilla bean ice cream, and the aromatic espresso. The star overall is the incredible kitchen and wait staff. So, we walked over to another place to have drinks while we waited. We were given the option to eat inside or outside and we chose to enjoy the outdoors. Lively, fun atmosphere--I always like that it's a happy, full restaurant. Dinner consisted of Marguerita pizza, chicken pesto, spicy rigatoni, pasta marinara, and the fish special (branzino). All were enjoyed (my margherita pizza was perfectly crisp), and I'm told all the pastas were delicious. We brought our own birthday cake (has to be store-bought and come in a box), for which they charged &2.50 per person to serve it (honestly, this is the one annoying surcharge--really?! We're spending $300 in your restaurant and you're going to charge us to bring a cake?!). But the meal was delicious, the company great, and service was right on, so all is forgiven.
