Had a great time at North Italia! The service was absolutely stellar. The staff checking in regularly, were friendly, and gave wonderful recommendations and explanations of the menu. NOW THE FOOD! It was absolutely delicious! The calamari was battered perfectly and the exact texture it needs to be. Not rubbery at all! I had the Pollo Fritto and my gosh the flavor was amazing, it wasn't overly oily despite being fried, and the gravy was also not too heavy while still being very flavorful. The potatoes were also fried great and had a good flavor to absorb and balance out the gravy. The Spicy Meatball Pizza was also a hit. The creamy and smooth ricotta cheese on top of the pizza co.pliments the meatballs perfectly. Our waitress also recommended the Piña No- Lada mocktail and it was exactly as she described. My favorite pasta dish is the Strozzapretti which consists of chicken, mushroom, spinach, pine nuts, and Parmesan cream (SO YUMMY). This time I ordered the spicy rigatoni vodka which comes with spicy sausage. It's not too spicy for me but could be if you're someone who can't handle a lot of spice. I thought it was delicious. I also tried their bolognese pasta, their house specialty. The meat sauce is DELICIOUS. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their pasta dishes. Their drinks are delicious too. Not my first time here. The food was okay, my favorite was a side dish (corn with fontina polenta). We had the worst service ever! No introduction, just asked for our orders. She placed 2 serving spoons on the table, we were seated by the patio so the table was a little dusty, did not give us silverware and napkins. I had to ask someone else. Got our order wrong and ended up with calamari we did not really want. She did not make eye contact any other time she was talking to us. And I did not hear any thank you for anything! I am disappointed that they no longer offer the Farmers Market Board that I ALWAYS got. According to the waitress, they do not have it at this location. Their vegan/vegetarian options are limited. A MILLION STARS for their Banana Coffee Cake on the weekend brunch menu. This is so delicious that I consider it an absolute must try. I've been here a few times and I had it every time and it is consistently THAT GOOD!!! I've had the Breakfast Carbonara Pasta and the Breakfast Rosa pizza from the brunch menu, both very good but the pizza is better. I love the crust, it's not greasy and just perfect. We've had a variety of the brunch items and everyone has been happy with their selections. The service is always great. All of the servers that we had are just wonderful, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. The restaurant has a very modern design and looks very high end. Came here for Saturday night dinner/double-date. We arrived around 7pm and the wait for a table of 4 was about 30 minutes (they send you a text when your table is ready via OpenTable). Our server, I don't remember his name, but he was great with answering all of our questions and I LOVED the wine pairing he recommended for my pasta dish. We ordered everything to share: -Chef's Board, this was good. Charcuterie with regular and smoke prosciutto, a buttery soft cheese (can't remember the name), a hard block cheese (don't know the name), fig jam, pickled veggies, almonds, and grilled bread. Yum! -White Truffle Garlic Bread, this was REALLY good and can get me into trouble, lol. Safe to say, we cleaned the plate! -I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, and our server recommended Super Tuscan, which paired nicely and tasted great with the chef's board too! I love rigatoni and Italian sausage so this was a personal hit, but the rest of our group enjoyed this as well. I love how the pasta picks up the vodka sauce *chef's kiss*. -Chicken Pesto, was very fresh and fragrant. Lovely green color and chicken was a bit shredded and mixed in with the pasta. Loved the pasta and how it held the pesto sauce too! -Chicken Parmesan, was the bomb(dot)com! One of the best chicken parm's I've ever had. Breading is light and fried to perfection. Their marinara/tomato sauce is SO GOOD. The rigatoni pasta served on the side was okay, similar to a simple mac-n-cheese type flavor. -Prosciutto Pizza (BOMBA style), the BOMBA was a great addition and made the pizza & crust really tasty, but I probably wouldn't order this pizza again as I enjoyed the pasta and chicken parm much more. My gf also got a glass of the Barolo, I had a sip and it was quite strong (stronger than the Super Tuscan), but good. Service was pretty quick considering it was a full house. Restrooms are clean and brightly lit. Ambiance inside is rustic, but quite charming. It does get a bit loud during the dinner rush. Will be back again! read more

I love the El Segundo location! Every time I visited, I made a reservation. I enjoy getting the rigatoni with vodka sauce. It's a tad bit spicy. I would say the spice level is a 7 out of 10. My friend ordered the chicken parmigiana. I ordered the squid ink pasta Togo for my boyfriend and he enjoyed it. I had to drive an hr to his house from the restaurant and it still tasted great he said. The ambiance is romantic. The restaurant is good for small and large groups. North Italia is located in the outdoor mall called "The Point". There are some clothing and shoe stores, but it's mostly places to eat and lounge on the outdoor furniture. Parking was easy in the mall lot on a Saturday evening. Our party of 4 arrived during dinner rush, so the restaurant was pretty busy. The server seemed austere and hyper focused on something until I asked a dumb question that made him laugh, and then he seemed more relaxed after that. (When he brought out one pizza and a plate of Parmesan and red pepper flakes, I tentatively asked if that was our "bomba style" order. I was afraid we got ripped off LOL!) DRINKS ORDERED - New Italian Spritz ($13 - aperol, citrus, prosecco). Refreshing sparking cocktail. - Tucano Punch ($14 - rhum barbancourt, apertivo, pineapple, lime). Boozy, "warm" flavor profile, very good. PIZZAS ORDERED The Neapolitan pizza dough here is good: chewy with some char on the crust and thin (but not too soupy) in the middle. - Bomba Style ($5). Something extra to eat your crust with. It's basically a plate of creamy burrata with a drizzle of mild chili sauce and olive oil. Yum! One order of bomba style was enough for 4 people sharing 3 pizzas. - Corn (Daily Pizza). This was my favorite of the of the three. The flavor of the corn and zucchini were great. I actually thought the meat wasn't necessary and wished for more veg. - Spicy Meatball ($20). Loved the generous dollops of ricotta with the meatballs. We were here on a cold day in late Spring. At around 6pm there was a wait and we took a transponder while we explored the mall. Fortunately, our wait was shorter than expected! We ended up in a covered outdoor section which was fine due to the heaters they had set up. Everybody we dealt with prior to seating was positive - perhaps moving the needle slightly on the snooty meter. Our waiter was nice with an animated personality - maybe a tad more animated than needed to be, but I could be a bit of a wet blanket I guess Drinks should be explored as they had a nice selection. I had a riesling while my partner enjoyed the Black Fig Manhattan and our child (over 21!) liked the Peroni Lager. The food was prepared well and reasonably timely. We enjoyed the Strozzapreti, chicken pesto, and a Caesar salad with chicken - not a good day for descendants of the dinosaur. Dessert was highlighted for us by the arrival of the Caramel Apple Butter Cake! It was yummy and enjoyed by all. Parking stinks at the mall, but thank the Lord my partner is a competitive parker! We went to The Pointe around 5:30pm on a Saturday. There were a ton of people with their kids so it was a fun environment. At the restaurant, it was 25 minute wait for two adults and a baby. When they texted us that the table was ready, they were able to seat us pretty quickly in the outdoor area which had plenty of heaters and a nice view of the other shops in the area. We brought our 11 month old baby and they were able to accommodate with a high chair. We ordered a white Naples pizza, seasonal veggies, and a bolognese pasta. The pizza was nice and light with an amazing crunch for the crust. The veggies tasted fresh and had a mix of asparagus, lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, and corn. The bolognese pasta is the house special and I can see why. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the meat sauce was hearty and flavorful. One of the worst meals we've had in Manhattan Beach: a total letdown. We were excited to try this spot, hoping it would join the rotation of great restaurants at The Point. Instead, we left disappointed and frustrated. Every dish was drenched in the same bland, canned-tasting tomato sauce, no freshness. The squid ink pasta, which should be rich, briny, and simple, was just black noodles swimming in tomato sauce. Zero flavor from the ink itself. The chicken parm? Drenched in the same sauce. The branzino? Also smothered. Even the salad was sad limp, flavorless, and uninspired. It honestly felt like the kitchen believes adding tomato sauce to anything automatically makes it "Italian." It doesn't. We've lived in MB for over a decade and love most of the restaurants at The Point but this place was a huge miss. North Italia El Segundo hits on every single level. I'll start with the service because that was truly the star of the show. SHANE - the waiter who was not only knowledgeable, professional, and great at serving (got our order down perfectly and never let our waters get below half full) but was also witty, hilarious, personable, and took our experience from "a delicious Italian dinner" to an entertaining and memorable night, far above the rest. Can't praise this guy enough - we're still laughing at some of your jokes! In LA with many top-notch Italian restaurants, Shane is the type of team member that makes you want to come back here. Tommy the host was also friendly and helpful over the phone, and sweet when escorting us to our seats even when we asked to get moved from outside to inside because of the cold weather. The food here is just consistently delicious. We had the grilled bread & good olive oil, white truffle garlic bread, Italian meatballs, chicken parmesan, Bolognese, and spaghetti & meatballs. I won't even take my time diving into each dish. Everything is extremely high quality, flavorful, and a very good size portion. Truly would recommend everything we had. There was a decent amount of pork but I would have preferred more pasta. Short rib lumache 3/5 - we didn't not like this very much. Short rib was nice and tender but pasta sauce was nothing special and the texture of the pasta wasn't good. Most of the pasta was undercooked and some pieces were pretty hard. If I knew before hand that the pasta would come out hard, I would have asked them to cook it longer. Service was friendly and we had a reservation so we got seated right away. I made a reservation to dine in on February 14th at 7pm for a party of 2. (Yes I understand, it's a busy day for Valentine's day) I checked in early around 6:50pm, and the person at the front told me "We'll be able to seat you closer to the reservation time" Cool! not a problem since i did show up early. What is the point of making a reservation, if the restaurant can not accommodate the request. i was better off just coming in as a walk in, and i would have been seated probably in the same time frame.
