First off, there's free valet parking (yay!) so you don't have to worry about trying to park in the tiny lot! We came on a weeknight so it wasn't too full but I can imagine it being super useful on a busy weekend. The inside of the restaurant is pretty spacious and really nicely decorated! They definitely highlight the whole made from scratch aspect with their open kitchen and various kitchen gadgets on display. We tried the chefs board, daily soup, daily pizza, and the Bolognese. It was also happy hour so we got a nice discount on a couple of the things we ordered! Everything was really tasty, though nothing stood out as being exceptionally good. The chefs board was really fun and I loved the variety, though I wish they offered more meats. The pizza was probably their weakest dish. The Bolognese was good but the noodles themselves could have been better, but I'd really like to try more of their pasta dishes as I'm a huge fan of pasta. First let me just say that the food is actually 5 stars. So extremely tasty. The problem was in the service. We were a party of 4. The food took a pretty long time to arrive and when it did it was luke warm. The waitress was not very attentive so this couldn't be addressed right away and since we had waited so long for it to begin with we decided to just eat it at the temperature it arrived. Also, since the waitress was not as attentive as we felt she should be it took a long time to also get our check and receipt when we were ready to leave. We came here with a large group and i feel like the restaurant catered to the size of our group very well! We ordered the appetizer pizza, 5 different pasta dishes, and a couple of the "meat and veggie" plates. The tastes in every pasta dish were great! good flavors and quality ingredients. I was at North for lunch yesterday. Their crispy rice balls were cute and tasty and their porchetta sandwich was also a treat. I was disappointed today returning for lunch and getting a messed up meal. I ordered the burrata with fig jam, pistachio, and crusty bread. The insides of the burrata were spread on the bread and on the plate as was the fig jam. I think I am old enough to decide how much bread I want to eat and how much jam I want to put on it. Allow me the opportunity to do that. The main problem was the outside of the burrata was missing. I ordered the dish because I love burrata having bought it regularly from two famed Italian delis - Casa Della Mozzarella on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx and from Caputo's Deli in Salt Lake City. Burrata is mozzarella with cream and bits of mozzarella inside the ball. I did not get the mozzarella ball. Maybe it was used for someone's pizza. I didn't realize there were so many North locations across the U.S. Fox Restaurant Concepts calls this their 'love letter to Italy'. I personally enjoy dining at this location in Arcadia. It's just a just short walk north of foodie paradise on 40th and Campbell. North Italia is a modern take on made-from-scratch traditional Italian dishes prepared daily with fresh, seasonal ingredients. My first experience here was an evening consisting of a bottle of wine and a chef board with a buddy of mine. They have a nice open patio bar area that has plenty of shade from the surrounding trees. The restaurant is very inviting and has a nice relaxed atmosphere to it. The Pig (with Italian sausage and San Marzano tomato sauce) and Bacon & Egg Pizza are some of the popular pizza selections. They also have a variety of wines and small plates (like the signature Prosciutto Bruschetta with Crescenza cheese and grilled asparagus- yum) to choose from. Just recently I tried their spaghetti & braised meatball plate. The pasta is thicker than most spaghetti noodles but nice and smooth. It's one of the best spaghetti dishes I've ever tried. I enjoyed watching the prep guys preparing some pasta for national pasta day. Service has always been great for me here as they really stress hospitality. This is my favorite of the Sam Fax concepts. North has been revamped and is now more rustic. It's a huge, huge improvement over the old North. I have been to the Kierland, 40th Street and Tucson locations. The Good: We love the location on 40th Street. We usually go on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. We like to sit at the bar and the bar tenders are all super friendly. We also like the wine special, don't know what that says about us. There are so many good choices on the menu. The pasta is all handmade. The pizza's are excellent and they have a good selection of wines. The Tucson location is beautiful and there is a great view from the patio. The Bad: For some reason some of my favorite items from the menu are not available at the Kierland location. Also, the lasagne is not very good, I would avoid it. read more

I've been here several times before and had my first terrible experience today. Drinks were brought out within 5 minutes, which is great- ideal, as it should be. We knew what we wanted and ordered our 1 appetizer and 2 entrees right away. Right after ordering, a table next to us had been sat down, and within 10 minutes, their appetizer was already out. This bugged me because we had the exact same appetizer. I figured: maybe the person running the food got the table numbers wrong & ours is coming up soon- whatever, no biggie. Not even 5 minutes after getting their appetizer, they got their 3 entrees, and this is when I began to get bothered. We still had no food at our table. 20 more minutes passed. We literally got our food as they were asking for boxes for their food. I was in the restaurant industry for years. I don't know if our server, MARGARET, didn't put our order in or just wasn't on top of her tickets today but it was EXTREMELY disappointing. We didn't even get a 'hey, kitchen's running behind' or whatever kind of excuse or warning. She just kept offering water as if that's all I went for. I went here with a group of friends a few days ago and I have to say that the pasta here is some of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was really cool and understated and everyone was very nice and friendly. The service was very professional and accommodating and really took great care of us even though we were a group of 10.I had the spaghetti which is actually some of the best spaghetti I've ever had and my other friends had a variety of the different pastas which were all amazing and great and we shared everything. Not everybody who agrees with me and that's fine this is just my opinion but we have eaten there four times now. First two times were very good but I will say it was during the day, a little quieter, not a lot of traffic. The last two times.... I ordered a salad. I asked for salad dressing that I never got. The salad was absolutely horrible. It was tasteless and bland and not what the menu said it was so I thought maybe I got the wrong order but our waiter never came back to check on us. jump ahead fourth time there just the other day, ordered the salmon. Salmon was burnt on the bottom half very dry over cooked and I'm not sure what they put it on it was a bed of some green kind of pesto stuff but it was the most bland thing I've ever tasted in my life. Not worth the money at all. Waitress never came by to see how we were doing to ask if our meal was to see if she could get anything until the very very end at which point we ordered gelato for the kids and it took 20 minutes to get it. The gelato obviously sat somewhere because when the kids got it it was melted in their cup. Just tacky I know this place is busy but we can't even enjoy yourselves eating because it's so loud you can't hear yourself sync. Yes normally the service is very good maybe it was just an off day but this is the second meal that I was thumbs down on. I think if you stick to spaghetti and Bolognese you're great read more

This was our first visit to North Italia and overall we weren't impressed. Upon arrival we waited at the hostess stand for a good 5 minutes along with two other couples. if you've been to this restaurant their isn't a lot of room for 6 people to occupy that space by the door. We saw several of the wait staff walk by but no greeting from anyone. The actual hostess was on the phone and engaged in a conversation. She never looked up to acknowledge anyone as she was engrossed with the phone and her tablet. Eventually she hung up and asked if it was just for two and sat us. Our waiter came by a few minutes later to take our drink orders which seemed timely. After dropping off drinks he took our order. what seemed like forever we waited for our entrees. Twenty-five minutes went by with no additional contact from our waiter. About ten minutes later our meals arrived. Chicken parmigiana and my wife had Bolognese. Neither meal was exceptional , the chicken parmigiana was over cooked and was very dry. I wasn't able to eat around the edges as it was tough, burnt and hard. The bolognese was okay according to my wife but nothing to rush back to have. Overall experience was no better than average at best. read more

We had one of the best date nights we've ever had in this restaurant! We started coming after my husband met the Kitchen Manager Mike randomly on two different occasions; they hit it off immediately. When we finally visited the restaurant, he served us the most delicious food; we had the White Truffle Garlic Bread (it was so good that it caused so much attention with the people next to us), House Special Bolognese (my FAVE), Squid Ink Mafaldine (hubby's fave), and the Tiramisu (YUM). You can taste the quality with each dish that was served--but not only that--the service (not just Mike) was amazing. Something cool that's also worth noting about their location in Arcadia is the culture the kitchen staff has. Mike graciously introduced us to his staff and told us about their long tenure and the pride they held in working at their location. Overall a great restaurant inside and out! read more

Went to dinner here last night with my husband. I liked the atmosphere and everyone who worked there was nice. We tried the zucca chips which are good but I probably won't get them next time. We split a Caesar salad to start. It was good, but seemed a little small for the price and could have used more croutons. If you don't care for fish you might not like it because we could taste anchovies in the dressing (which is supposed to be there). My husband got the squid ink pasta. He said it was ok but he wouldn't get it again. He thought it was very heavy on the pepper and too spicy as a result. My dinner was the star of the show! I got the short rib radiatori and it was out of this world amazing!!! I don't think I would have tried it but I saw a couple of yelp reviews that recommended it, so I gave it a try and it did not disappoint! It's in this delicious, creamy sauce with bread crumbs on top to add a little crunch, but the short rib just falls apart and is so melt in your mouth amazing! I'm craving it already today. I will be back for that. I only wish we had bread to go with it. I'd also like to try a desert because they had some delicious sounding options but we didn't really have time for it. Worst dining experience I've ever had, I used to love north, as I travel for work and there's a few locations scattered around the states. Just plan awful service and when management got involved it was all downhill from there. I can't believe I heard the manager being so mean to the server we had; nothing was really her fault but you don't need to make your employees feel low. If you have a teen in food service like I do, do me a favor and don't waste your time here where the management blames young kids for their inadequacies. Plenty of better choices in phx to have a nice family meal on the weekend. read more

I ordered Chicken Pesto for delivery through door dash and was very disappointed with what I received. $24.00 and some change bought me a cardboard bowl full of vegetable noodles with about 1/4 chicken breast and a sprinkle of cheese. We went to North Italia for the Valentine's Day prix fixe menu and really enjoyed it. They had a chanterelle mushroom ragout for the day that's not part of their regular menu, but it was really good (mascarpone polenta is aazing). We also tasted the arancini, which are basically stuffed rice balls; these had mushroom risotto stuffed with scamorza cheese, really tasty. For the main course, I ordered the burrata tortelloni which was really good, great combination of pasta, mushroom, and swiss chard. My Valentine had the red wine glazed short rib, so he got to try the amazing mascarpone polenta along with some veggies. The meat was tender and flavorful. (Short rib is on their regular menu, but it's prepared a little differently.) It was nice that the appetizers and meal portions weren't too huge so you didn't walk away feeling stuffed (as can happen in Italian restaurants). For dessert, I tried the tiramisu, which was really good but a bit heavy on the cocoa powder. I think I accidentally inhaled a bit! I'd say the salted caramel budino is even better, even for chocolate addicts like me. The service was great and we felt like we had our own space even with the Valentine's Day rush; we were at a communal table along with another couple but we were on opposite ends of a large table. They also had some prosecco-based cocktails which were pretty tasty. Would love to try this place again on a normal night. read more

The plus of this place is that you can use Open table app for a reservation as well as the app here for the reservation. Try the Mafaldine pasta and the Arancini Risotto Balls, they are one of a kind. Let me also say that they are the only place in town that know how to make a real Prosciutto pizza and add the freshly sliced Prosciutto after they cook the pizza.
