Our car was totaled when it was legally parked. Some crazy guy hit our car when he said he was trying not to hit a stray animal in the street. But he totaled our car. Obviously he was speeding!!!!! The police came to our house and told us about our car,, we didn't know any autobody shops to deal with. We got recommended from my husband's boss and when we called we spoke with Dom, he said they will take csre my of everything right away. They came and towed our car the day after,, while we are dealiglng with this frustration, Tracy from Auto Body shop helped ys get through this trauma very well. If it wasn't for Dom,, I would have given 5 stars becuase of Tracy but Dom at some point was rude when my Husband called for update on our car since (this happend right before Valentine's day , my husband had a plan for us to go out) and we have not heard anything from North Star and it already passed about a wk or 2,, we were very worried about our car situation... We also have a 5 year old to take her to school every day!! But Dom staright gave my husband an attitude telling ud that we just need to wait!!! We dont know if this means we have another 15 mins? An hr? Months?? A year??? My husband got very frustrated he called me. I got upset, i called north star anf spoke with Tracy. She told me we should get an answer in 2-3 days but meanwhile they have car rental available for us ($30 a day; $100 deposit) so we took thr rental for a week. Tracy was on top of everything,, they billed Progressive( this is the guy who hit our car's insurance which we don't recommend to get Progressive!! Ger Geico!!!) . Tracy billed Progressive to pay for out car storage fee, tow and rental so we didn't get stuck with a bill. Tracy was very optimistic and helpful. We almost changed the autobody shop company because if Dom (in the beginning he said things for us to trust him then later he was shady) but Tracy was there all the way, she even remembered our names so she knew exactly who we were as soon as she answered the phone. North star needs to take care of Tracy. If they didn't have her,, we would bot recommend North Star but as long as she is there,, we are looking to deal with North Star again and definitely will recommend to our friends and family. read more

North Star Auto Body helped me so much when my grandfather's truck was hit in his front yard (while parked) by a drunk driver - they fought for us with the insurance company. He got a new vehicle, and they even helped get his fence and cement wall that were all damaged in the accident covered too! Anthony and Dom are the best. Not to long ago a guy stop short in front of my wife in a parking lot as she was going to a parking lot in front of her. Unfortunately cause a fender bender. Thankfully she was ok as to the other guy. Anthony happened to be in the area and saw the guy berating my wife. Certainly calm down when the cops came and especially when I showed up. Northstar are NO JOKE. The fixed not only the damage but a road rage incident that we got rammed on the left side of the car. Mystery parking lot scratches cause we know fellow New Yorkers are honest. Fixed and replaced. Did an oil change. Detailed the car. Paint redo, took car of more then half my rental because my insurance stiffed me because they didn't listen to me only months before to add to plan. And it gets better, they even took car a the scratch the rental got in the parking lot. Another mystery. It seems like these younger people don't care. The car was waxed and shining better then then when we got it. The color looked deeper but its the same color. It's unreal how good it looked. DON"T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. Waste of time. Do yourself a favor, make sure you have rental on your plan for accident. spare the extra 7 to 10 bucks. The rental for us would have been 975 and literally lost my job the same day we were picking up my car. These people assured me a million times. I guess because of the stereotype that body shops have. North Star is not that. They will be like family to you that you never had. I wanted to hug Anthony and Dom because given the moment I was having, it was touching for me and my wife. You won't regret North Star. Bank on that. read more

Beware of this shop! After dropping off my car apart for repairs they called and said they could not perform the repairs (after getting an estimate for said repairs) unless I purchased a front and rear bumper for an additional out-of-pocket cost. The autobody shop manager then offered to cash out my insurance claim and pay me the difference. After asking my husband to speak with him, he gave my hubs the impression that we had three options, to either have the repairs done elsewhere or ourselves, have Star Autobody do a half-assed job, or purchase bumpers out-of-pocket. After confering with the insurance company, and other mechanics/autobody people we know, we decided to manage the repairs ourselves and called to let them know. Magically, Jake had my car torn apart and was going to need three days to get it back together. For someone who is a manager, Jake sure has meager skills in describing what is going on and creating a clear picture for customers to make an informed decision. So now, I have spent all day trying to problem-solve my car, research options, and contact insurance just to be told my car is torn apart and I'll need to give them three days to put it back together. I recommend getting estimates and discussing options with multiple shops before choosing Start Autobody. In fact, I don't recommend Star Autobody at all! read more
