We have been enjoying wonderful seafood at Northeast for years. We love not only the great food, but also the friendly and attentive staff.

Wow! Hidden treasure. Great food! Not a ton of atmosphere. I'm not a fish eater so he menu is somewhat limited. Very good chicken!

Not sure why this place has such good ratings. No wait on a Saturday night at 6:30pm. Outside patio had no atmosphere. Waited ten minutes before a waitress finally came to our table. Rhode Island clam chowder was good. Fresh tomato salad was excellent though My request for dressing on the side was ignored. Lobster rolls were small and lobster tasted old. Very large roll with not enough meat. I've had better elsewhere for less. Came with homemade kettle chips but our request to sub mashed potatoes was ignored. Brought one side of mashed when I pointed out the mistake. Waitress seemed uninterested in waiting on us, and only came back once. Don't waste money here. Bluecoast Seafood Grill has line to get into the parking lot! Try it! read more

This has always been a good place to eat for the beach, but that changed last week. I went to eat with my young family and the pork chop I ordered was dry and chewy. I couldn't eat it. I moved the offending chop to the bread plate and left it at that. I am not a complainer and my view was that if the kitchen got one entree wrong, I did not want to try another. Later, our waiter saw the pork chop and asked if I wanted a doggie bag. I politely refused. The waiter asked why and I said quietly that it was too dry. At this point, things turned south. He then started aggressively and menacingly chastising me for not letting him know sooner that there was something wrong with the meal. I listened to him criticize me quietly- remember my family is sitting there. At the end of his first response, I simply smiled. At this point he launched into a repeat of his just-completed admonition, this time more aggressively, as if his getting angry would have elicited a different response from me. His whole tirade made me very uncomfortable and was completely inappropriate with my family sitting there. I won't return to the restaurant- I can't risk getting another bad meal, or, worse, getting yelled at TWICE in front of my kids b/c the wait staff disagrees with how I handle being served terrible food. read more

On a warm summer evening last year, a big group of us dined here on the patio. Although I don't remember what everyone ordered, all of us thought the food was really good. My husband and I shared a delicious appetizer of roasted mussels with wheat ale, aged chorizo and tomato compote and had the lobster rolls as our entree. It's more upscale than most of the seafood restaurants in the area and their menu is more eclectic. We hope we'll have an opportunity to eat here again on our next visit to Bethany. read more

I want to give this place a higher review. I do. But the food wasn't anything amazing overall. We were seated at the bar and offered drinks while we waited. I was able to speak with the chef as he was prepping food - I loved the open air flow of the space. We had decided on what to order before we were even sat. Calamari- one of the best orders I've ever had. Buttermilk marinated, the squid was tender and delicious. Just the right amount of breading and not overly fried. Downside - it came with tartar. I was now wowed. Next up was the bibb salad. Perfectly done. I was excited for my entree. I had the salmon with a side of roasted brussels sprouts. My veggies were perfect - lightly browned, adorned in cranberries and shallots - YUM. The salmon, however, was utterly disappointing. We ordered it at the chef's recommendation and it came out so grossly overdone. Pale, dry pink all throughout. We alerted our server who went to take care of it and we were told that they had just sold out of salmon. Ok, no big deal. The restaurant featured some other dishes that looked appetizing and I chose the spaghetti and clams. Amazingly, this was not the best either. 6 clams in the whole $18 dish. No prepared traditionally but rather slimy noodles and oily, flavorless marinara sauce. To the manager, Colby's credit, he checked on us regularly and really tried to turn our night around. He brought out free bread pudding which was sadly dry. I would try this place again as I likes the vibe, the locally sourced theme and the service from the manager. Our starters rocked, but it's sad that our meal ended poorly. read more

A large group of us came to the area for a family vacation. The grilled octopus was fantastic with a good kick of spice in it. Everything we tried was tasty and fresh down to the tartar sauce. Soft shell crabs, calamari, fried clams, lobster mac and cheese, and the scallops entree were among the items ordered and we were all tasting each other's dishes. Have been to NESK 3 other times and have always enjoyed the food, drinks and service. Was reminiscing about the great, whole belly fried clams I've had in Maine. Many years ago "real fried clams" were also available at local MD and DE seafood restaurants. All of these places eventually switched to fried strips. When a friend told me about the Nesk famous Ipswich (sounds authentic) fried clams my wife and I headed back for dinner. I confirmed with the waiter that these were the real thing, belly and all. Unfortunately what I got was a 21.00 dollar pile of greasy batter. There was no clam taste at all. I started picking though the batter and was able to find tiny clams. If there were any belly's, they were not visible to the naked eye. Someone needs to take a road trip to Maine to experience the real thing or change the name to "Famous Ipswich clam flavored batter". Well, at least the halibut and service were good. read more

I hesitate to write this excellent review, as I'm afraid this restaurant will get too popular and I won't be able to get a table! We had a wonderful dinner last week. The scallops were prepared perfectly; carmelized exterior and moist, tender interior. Prepared with spinach, delicious mushrooms, and dark rich sauce. Served over perfect mashed potatoes. My husband's fried chicken (boneless) was delicious. Served over mashed potatoes with ham gravy, and served with flavorful sweet corn. Service was friendly and attentive. Small wine list, and nice selection of local beers. The prices were reasonable and the meal was an excellent value. Easily the best meal we've had in our 6 years vacationing in Bethany Beach. read more

Well this is definitely an above average restaurant. I admire the folks who own the place as they have developed a kind of chain of *better* looking and eating restaurants in the area all with their own milieu, their own ambiance. And the service at NESK is good as is the food-- BUT I have to say it really was not as great the night we were there. The stuffed lobster was good with a very ordinary crab stuffing. I would gladly have paid more money for lump crab rather than the strand-like "imperial" crab. The Caesar salad was dry and bland really and just not what Caesars should be. (to be honest I think I've had one really good Caesar in the past 30 yrs of paying attention.). With all the positive chatter about this restaurant would've lead me to believe that they would've easily pulled off at least a yummy Caesar. My 23 yr old daughter had the steamed clams which were overdone and chewy. The only real bright spot was the Calamari Fritti which was tender and sweet. But even here they serve this thoughtfully and briefly fried sweet seafood with the globby, mayonnaise-y "herb sauce" (which was only tartar sauce really). A mistake in my view. Look the restaurant business is a tough racket and even a good one has an off night. I'm sure we'll return again. It was mediocre honestly. read more

Most likely the best restaurant in Ocean View, Delaware. High quality, consistency and attention to detail. The menu is a little different each time, making it more interesting than usual. Always a nice fish on the menu. Go for the crab cakes or the lobster mac and cheese. A very original drink menu, too. The new bar area shouldn't be overlooked. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wow - what a wonderful restaurant! In addition to the creative drinks -- the "Summer Thyme Martini" with real thyme was great -- everyone enjoyed their meals. Lobster mac was great, crab bites, calamari, salmon. We loved it all. Not to mention the dessert - the bread pudding was delish and a generous helping. Wow - this place used to be good but the current chef should be fired. To use SOUP as the sauce for fish and to get rid of the arugula salad with wild mushrooms, goat cheese and roasted garlic is a mortal sin. That salad was the ONLY reason I wasn't eating in Rehoboth for almost 16 years. OK - the tomato salad with the Green Goddess dressing was phenomenol - but don't put that salad on the menu if you are going to run out in the early hours of the dinner rush. Buy more tomatoes and don't lose focus on what customers think actually tastes good. It would have been nice to order a second tomato and Green goddess salad - since nothing else on the menu is edible. read more

Dined here based on all the positive reviews...the interior was nice and clean, the service was great, the food looked pretty good. My husband got the soft shell crab special and it was pretty good and I ordered the regular menu sauteed cod. My husband thought it was fishy but I devoured it, since it was the first real grownup meal we had on our family vacation. Well, we got back to our rental and things went downhill fast...let's just say my $25 meal went down the drain...so disappointed. Maybe the Cod is not a normal order and doesn't go through inventory fast enough...but either way, I'm disappointed given all the good reviews...I really wanted to love it! on a positive note, the grapefruit gimlet was to die for! Amazing food, great service, and lively atmosphere, especially in the bar area. We had a gift card, so we were trying out the place. There was a problem processing the card, but our server went out of her way to talk to the manager and make sure it was taken care of...too long of a story to get into the details.. but the server and the manager handled things so well. We have been going to the Northeast Seafood Restaurant for the past three years and never have been disappointed. Everything appears to be very fresh and flavorful. I really liked the decor of this place, modern , clean, beachy. Of course we had to wait for a table at 6:30, but it was a Friday night. The waiters where great about getting drinks for us while we waited. There is a nice outdoor dining area, but we opted to eat inside due to the heat and threat of T-storms. We were seated way before the 45 minute wait we were expecting. I had the fried soft shell crabs on a seasonal salad. I never met a soft shell I did not like and these were crispy and well seasoned. My daughter had the hot lobster roll with a side of smashed potatoes. The roll came with fresh made potato chips and slaw, so getting the smashed potatoes was overkill. The lobster roll was rich and tasty. No room for dessert, so we can't comment on that. All in all a nice last night in Bethany! read more

This place is really good! Best we've had in Bethany so far! Great lobster mac and cheese..although my son didn't care for the kids Mac and cheese I think it was too much of a sharp cheddar taste for him. The others in our party loved their fried clams and the buttermilk fried chicken and fish and chips. The drinks were fun too! We had mojitos and pomegranate drinks. I'd definitely recommend stopping by here if you are in town for a beach trip. The rest of the menu looked really good. read more

Fantastic food and a great casual atmosphire! Very hospitable service. In a small shopping strip, but, quiet and there is a very nice deck in the back to eat on. They have a nice bar with a good selection of craft beers. Open until 10 pm each night. The atmosphire is light and well lit. The Yelp write up is wrong about their hours. Our family enjoyed a spectacular feast at this place and the best service ever! Standout dishes were - the swordfish special, the scallops, the buttermilk fried chicken, the lobster sandwich. The bread pudding and peach ice cream sundae were to die for, especially the bread pudding. Disappointing first trip to NESK and not sure we'll go back given the multitude of other fine dining options in the area. My husband and I typically enjoy the attentive service we receive by eating at the bars in Bethany Area restaurants (Michael at Parkway Cafe is a favorite) but at NESK, it was not the case. While the restaurant was still bustling at 8:45PM on a Saturday when we arrived, the bar only had a couple of other patrons. The lead bartender was pleasant, but very preoccupied with training what seemed to be a young new female bartender and they spent most of their time cleaning up the bar (my pet peeve) and prepping juices and fruit for the next day's dinner service vs. checking in on our very minimal needs. Again, there were still many filled tables at the restaurant so it wasn't closing time. The food was delicious and inventive and the atmosphere pleasing but bad service for us is a deal-breaker. read more

I've been here two separate times this season and have enjoyed the food both times. The hostesses are okay, not super friendly but not unpleasant either. The second time I dined here the hostesses asked us to wait as they cleared a table which was BS because it was early and the restaurant was mostly empty. So I don't know if this was inexperience or what. Also, I do find it strange that I have been seated at the table near the door twice now. It makes me wonder what's up with this table. Anyway, our waiter and waitress both times were professional but not overly helpful or attentive. They did their jobs and that was all. The atmosphere is clean and the décor is minimalist. The food was quite good and of high quality. The prices were a bit high though and they were not very flexible as far as the menu. For instance, my mom wanted a piece of salmon on one of their salads. But, she would have to pay the price for the salmon dinner in order to do so. That's way too expensive for half the food which is ridiculous. This also led to us ordering lesser priced appetizers and sharing them for dinner. So by being inflexible, they lost revenue from us. This is not a good business model in my opinion. Anyway, on to the food: - calamari: tender and tasty. The sauce that comes with it is light and compliments the calamari perfectly. It would be nice if they gave you two lemons and two cups of the sauce. But, they don't seem to mind if you ask for more of these items and it doesn't result in an up-charge. - Brussels sprouts salad: Simply put this dish is very tasty especially if you like Brussels sprouts. - Sausage sandwich: While a little sweet this sandwich is a nice balance of savory and sweet. I love the grilled brioche and the sausage made in-house. - spinach salad: Tasty, savory salad. Lot's of good flavors. - lobster soup: Nice, light seafood soup in tomato base. Not fishy at all. My friend ate every drop of it. All in all the food is good here and I would come back. But, I won't be rushing back anytime soon. There are so many good places to eat by the shore now. It's on my list of places to return eventually. I just wish they were a touch more welcoming and that they wouldn't suspiciously put me at the same table every time. read more
