First of all, quit reading this review and just go to Northstar, words do not do this place justice. However, you are reading a Yelp review, so I'm assuming you would like a word or two backing up why I love this restaurant so much. Breakfast: Hands down best coffee in Westerville. Each brew is fresh-ground, with several origins to chose from (including a description of what taste notes to expect). If you prefer tea, smoothies, fresh-squeezed orange juice, carrot juice, a mimosa, etc. They have those too, and it's all delicious. The breakfast food is delicious, and quite rich. My wife and I usually split the big burrito (don't be afraid to alter it, try the over-medium egg instead of scrambled, add some bacon, or if you're feeling really hungry, sub out the sweet potatoes for the crispy breakfast potatoes, you WILL get full). Other favorites are the mushroom frittata, the breakfast sandwich (get the bacon on that one for sure), and the prosciutto and poached eggs on focaccia (served with an arugula salad, the mix just all goes together beautifully). They have a kids menu as well, so your little ones can try the fluffy ricotta pancakes, a breakfast quesadilla, or just feed them the giant $1 oatmeal cookies if there are any left over from the previous night, because hey, oatmeal is totally a breakfast food, even in cookie form, right? Value: If you come in here and order a fresh juice, a separate meal for everyone, and start it off with a scone and coffee, you will spend quite a bit. Might be nice to celebrate something special, but don't expect greasy spoon diner prices. Honestly, I think that their food is big enough and rich enough to share. Add a side of sweet potatoes or another breakfast meat if you want to make it more filling. Personally my family utilizes the cookies and kids meals for the littles, and my wife and I split a breakfast, so we can eat here fairly affordably at least one breakfast a week. Lunch: If you are looking for a quick lunch, Northstar is definitely a great choice. If you're looking for a $7-$10 lunch, this might not be your spot. Lunches cost anywhere from $11-$16. Their lunch and dinner menus are the same, with the same prices. I've always thought, it's a more expensive place to eat lunch, but an affordable place to eat dinner. Sometimes I save half of my lunch and take it home to eat for dinner, so there's that. Since the food is the same as dinner, I'll write about the food there. But first, the bar. The Bar: Great place to hang out and run into (or meet) locals. Everyone is friendly and it is not a crowded bar. Cocktails are $7, a steal in my opinion considering the top-shelf ingredients and hand-made mixers (like the blackberry smash). They have a limited beer selection with a few drafts and a few bottles on hand. If you are looking for an long list of beers to try, you may want to check into another spot in town, but what they do have is still a nice array of microbrews (sorry, no Miller Light on draft). Finally, there is wine, almost a dozen varieties to chose from. They've recently started giving away "bar chips" and pimento, a small appetizer for free when you sit at the bar. Ask about them. Dinner: Hands down best dinner in Westerville (sorry everywhere else). Whenever we venture somewhere else, we end up spending more money than we would have at Northstar, and the food is just so delicious here we have no reason to change it up. If you are into sandwiches, they have a great, thick burger, as well as a veggie burger that is every bit as good in its own way. Trust me, this isn't the veggie burger from the freezer section of your local grocer, it's a thick patty charred to perfection. I actually prefer it to the meat burger at times. They recently added wood-fired pizza, which is my current favorite. The Fiore pizza is essentially a salad on top of a pizza crust (I believe it is drizzled with oil and spices while cooking). A big pile of fresh greens is then piled upon the pizza, and you can add prosciutto, chicken, or sausage if you want to put some meat in there, which is also a great idea. You won't go wrong with this pizza. If you like thai/peanut they have pad thai, a buddha bowl, and a chicken or tofu wrap (with peanut sauce). My wife can't get enough of the stuff, and usually wants to order one of those items to get her peanut fix. Value: For dinner prices, Northstar is on-par with any other restaurant worth its salt, and actually cheaper than many. 90% of the time we simply come here if we are looking to eat out. read more

The menu is insanely limited to a small variety and selection. $15 for a cheeseburger is just silly. This seems like a typical yuppie spot to whip out you laptop and be trendy. Food was very over priced for basic restaurant. I would personally choose Panera over this any day. Food is delicious and healthy with lots of vegetarian options and meat. You order and pay for the food at the counter and before being served, are asked if you'd like to include a tip. That's a bit tacky, especially since tip is usually determined at the end of a meal and based on the quality of service provided. I don't think tip should be included. Atmosphere is casual and fun. Really excellent guacamole, food was fairly good, but the service staff were aloof. I understand they have a different style of service there, but it's confusing and you kind of feel like you're at an overpriced cafeteria. Went with my son and parents and we each found something we enjoyed on the menu even though it's on the smaller side. There is not a single thing on this menu that I don't love! From the drinks to the breakfast, lunch and dinner not to mention the baked goods! Absolute favorite eatery! Since they were toddlers it is my grandkids very favorite choice to go to. The service is great. If there was a mistake it is quickly and apologetically rectified. The ambience is open and inviting. First visit to this location and the space itself is much like all the others. It's open and if you've never been to one of them before I saw quite a lot of people not sure what they were supposed to do. As a matter of fact saw people sitting down waiting for service. Anyhow I knew how to order and I went up and placed my order. The person taking my order seemed to very energetic and friendly. I ordered the Buddha Bowl with roasted chicken. It came with al dente broccoli carrots cauliflower and red cabbage and peanut sauce. This is served over a brown rice. Since I had already had this before I knew how much I would like this and it didn't disappoint. I even tricked myself into thinking oh wow you're eating so healthy. As has been mentioned in other reviews it's very pricey and I understand the you get what you pay for thinking but when I dine I have to also think about my wallet. I do think this is the nicest and definitely a good addition to Westerville's dining scene and I'm glad I'll get to come here occasionally when I have the cash and it's close by. read more

Oh hell gang, I had a wonderful visit here. I got both the burger (which was delicious) and the chopped salad, which was pretty good (they do mean chopped) but dammit if this place still can't steam kids vegetables to save their lives. To their credit, they brought us more veggies which were appropriately steamed but jebus man, just do it right the first time. It's not cheap and you can get the same food for less money elsewhere, but this is an awfully nice location. Do they have the same menu as the Easton location (I'm too lazy to check)? This location is just better. I may have said in the past that I wasn't a Northstar fan (I'm not) but this is a really nice place to go. This crow doesn't taste very good. read more

I wished we got his name. Also the friendly girl that took our order was so sweet and welcomed us with a huge smile. She waited for us patiently as we looked at the menu. Great atmosphere, diner vibe with a modern twist. Breakfast/brunch style menu. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Staff is super friendly. I ordered the cloud 9 pancakes and the hubs got the cowboy breakfast. The Cloud 9 comes with 3 good size pancakes (think small dinner plate) topped with large slices of banana, side of butter and syrup. No bells or whistles, just very tasty pancakes. Batter has a slight sweetness, dense without being over heavy, very melt in your mouth. The Cowboy Breakfast is simple, thick cut bacon, eggs (cooked how you like) and a large biscuit. The side of jam was good. The biscuit seemed to be the main attraction for this dish and was very heavy but still soft. The main show stopper are the cookies. Soft, delicious and huge. Overall, great family restaurant, food is better than average but not blow your mind memorable, service is fantastic, ambiance is very clean, casual and cool. Don't forget to get a cookie! Trying to support local restaurants and decided to order curbside pickup from North Star. We ordered over the phone because we wanted to substitute tofu for chicken on a salad. We were told the order would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived promptly and was asked to park while they got the order together. After a few minutes I was informed it would take about 10 minutes longer. After I waited another TWENTY minutes I got out of my car and asked one of the attendants to check my order. Soon a woman who I understood to be the manager came out to apologize and assured me the order would be out soon I was asked by one of the attendants for my email and order information and they would send me a credit for the poor service. THIRTY minutes after arrival I was finally brought the order by the manager she asked if I wanted to check the order for accuracy I SHOULD have but was so disappointed by the process I left. Upon getting home I discovered I was missing my side dish slaw and the salad with tofu was served without cheese. WHAT A JOKE. I want to support your establishment but this is sad and I don't believe I will be back. By the way it's now 5 hours later nothing in my email by Northstar. read more

One of the best burgers i have had ! my wife talked me into trying the location at Easton (not one of my favorite place to go AT ALL HATE THE PLACE !) and i was hooked so glad they opened a location in Westerville but Please remember you do pay for good food , this is not McDonalds, this is not Wendys, this is not Burger King. both locations are very nice and the service is great. I have to tel the truth I have never tried anything but the burger and cookies, the service is so good that when the server came by and ask if every thing was Ok, i said jokingly it wasn't that good ( I thought he would see there was nothing left not a crumb) but he immediately said let me get you something else.
