Tried takeout from here. Mac and cheese was lacking in quantity of cheese sauce (see picture). Philly cheesesteak didn't look like the cheese was melted but actually tasted good. Chicken panini was dry.

Fine diner with bar seats. They specialize in burgers, salads, milkshakes, pasta and fish. It is an exceptionally clean spot, with TVs. Menu rotates monthly. Delectable specials, strong coffee and tasty sides served on elegant and proper plates. Fun eats! Review: 5

Not all diners are created equal. This is a solid, classic diner with everything you'd expect and nothing you wouldn't. Fantastic menu, friendly service, plenty of seats, and good food. Would definitely go back here if I was in the neighborhood and wanted to eat at a diner!

    Yummy Home Fries

starting with a peach mango smoothie ‍

Finally a diner that actually has lots of options that are all GOOD. I love going to diners because of the variety but rarely is there one that can deliver on its promises and this one DOES. I started with the peach mango smoothie which was so yummy, balanced and creamy. It was a bit thin for a smoothie but the flavor was out of this world satisfying. I got the bacon avocado eggs benedict, my friend got the breakfast sliders, and we shared the French toast tiramisu tower. The benedict was good, my only note is more hollandaise but I am quite literally a hollandaise fiend, I like a little bit of eggs benedict with my hollandaise. I didn't get enough of it to know whether or not it was a perfect sauce, but it wasn't egregiously overwhelmed with lemon or cayenne and didn't stand out in a negative way so I give that a point for cohesion. My friend loved the breakfast sliders, which were little bacon, egg and cheese biscuits and I had to try a biscuit because I love biscuits so much. They were sooooooo good. Definitely getting a side of biscuits next time. Finally we get to the star of the show: that beautiful French toast tiramisu tower. I don't even like tiramisu because I'm part of the .001% of the population that doesn't like coffee, but I think the name comes from the mascarpone filling because nothing was coffee flavored and thank God because it was amaaaaaazing. I loved the flavor of the French toast itself and the assortment of fresh fruit that went with it along with the mascarpone cream filling that was so light and not overly sweet and didn't melt like whipped cream would in between the warm layers. The ratio of French toast to fruit to cream was PERFECT. I was too full to finish it but devoured the leftovers at home for dinner because I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day. Amazing experience here, can't wait to come back!!

    Oreo Hot Chocolate

I've been going to the Northvale Diner for as long as I can remember. I even had birthday dinners here as a kid! We used to also come here for breakfast on Sundays after church. In the Fall, one of my favorite meals to get for breakfast as a kid was their pumpkin pancakes, but I'd add chocolate chips! If you're looking for classic New Jersey diner food, this should be your stop. Their appetizer sampler is great! That's a classic to get. They also have really good disco fries, spinach and artichoke dip, and potato skin boats! We tend to get a whole bunch of their appetizers and split them as a table. I recently tried their Oreo Hot Chocolate (pictured) and it was so delicious! So decadent. I typically have had great service there, although sometimes on a crowded night, things can move a little slower. I forget when they renovated the restaurant, but they made some nice upgrades a while back. When I was there last, I loved how they decorated the restaurant for the holidays. They even changed their ceiling lights to be red for Christmas. Overall, I recommend the diner!

Came here for lunch after a hike with friends and ordered the shrill tacos. Honestly some of the best tacos i've had. Crispy shrimp, a great chipotle aioli, fresh cilantro, a great crema sauce! The rice and beans were also very well done and paired so well with the tacos! Cheers!

Typically on point and decent. Definitely on the pricey side for a diner, but hey it's Tenafly so to be expected.

I really wanted to enjoy the place, as I've had other friends frequent it. From the inception of the restaurant, they've had "pastrami" as the highlight. I really wanted that. They didn't have it. I told them the rest of my family's order and to come back afterwards so I can find something else. Decided on some chili as it was a cold day. They didn't have that either. I gave up and just didn't order anything for myself. Every thing came out bland. We didn't ask for no salt or lower sodium. Either way the cute little salt shaker visited a lot. At the price point that they have, I really was expecting something. The disco fries were scarce. I can basically count how many there were. As well as not knowing what kind of gravy it included on the side. The chicken tenders were bland, but at least the chicken was tender and the coating was crispy. Strawberry pancakes were fluffy and good on the first bite, but if left cold, it just became hard. The strawberry butter was a really nice touch and I enjoyed it. Too much strawberry for me, but will not lower the score for that. That's just my preference of taste. The mac and cheese was soupy and not thick, and again no seasoning. Cheeseburger was okay, didn't wow us. Also could not figure out if it was house made or not. It was lean, somewhat juicy, but it was a little tough. Wasn't horrible. What I found interesting was with the amount of fries that came with our order, they all came out differently. The disco fries were crispy, fries that came with the mac and cheese were over done, and the cheeseburger fries were a mixture of crispy, soggy and overdone. But one commonality with all the fries was how bland it was. Anyway, between the pricing and not having two things that I ordered, was just enough to put me in a sour mood.

Take those expectations and throw them out the window, and open your taste buds and mind to new flavors to homemade dishes that will blow you away. I heavily recommend the mozzarella sticks which are more like bricks of cheese dipped in seasoned coatings that will make other mozzarella sticks think of a new name when these melt in your mouth and pull apart perfectly. The homerun of a sandwich is the Bun Jovi which is a honey Sriracha chicken schnitzel slathered with swiss cheese, pickles, pastrami, and coleslaw. And this dream of a sandwich delivers. The blue seating booths make the diner fun , with high backs they provide comfort and some privacy to your conversations. The staff is beyond freindly and each make sure you are having the best dining experience. To many positives about Country MKT Dinner to name, but each will create a core memory.

It looks like they are doing some work near the lobby area, possibly weather related, but it did not take away from the experience. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away. The staff was friendly across the board and our server Emma was great. She checked in often and made sure we were good. Even though we ordered at different times, the food still came out relatively quick. Now onto the food. We had two Godfather omelettes with home fries. They were okay, but mine lacked flavor and the hash browns were overcooked. The potato skins with bacon were good, but also a bit overcooked. The standout for me was the breakfast egg rolls. Stuffed with Taylor ham, egg, and cheese, they were juicy, crispy, savory, and loaded with gooey cheese. Easily the best thing I had. We also had the bacon egg and cheese biscuit sliders, which I was told were good. The fish and chips, on the other hand, did not hit. It was greasy, heavily breaded, and the fish was mushy inside. The fries had a slightly off taste, though not terrible. I also had an espresso martini. It was decent, not the best I have had, but still enjoyable. Overall, the experience was good. Friendly service, a clean and comfortable space, and some strong menu items mixed with a few misses. I would come back to try more, especially the Bandito Burrito, Latin Steak and Eggs, buttermilk pancakes, short rib and egg tacos, Mexicali skillet, Cuban breakfast, cheesy bacon tots, Irish Dream coffee, and Pirate's rum punch. And definitely those breakfast egg rolls again.

Shrinkflation is the new name of the game here from my experience over the past couple of months!…read more $14.95 for 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, toast, and 2 sausage links. 1. The new sausage links are significantly smaller than they used to be. 2. You're never going to get 2 eggs. It always looks like a bit more than 1 egg when scrambled, portions are horrible. 3. Home fries are dry and bland. 4. I don't even think they really butter the toast anymore either. This weekend 3 adults and 1 child eating sliders, 2 burgers, an adult shake and a kids shake came to $100. When eating I asked the waiter if I could get a slice of onion for my burger, he told me it would be $1 extra. I said "oh I think you misheard me, can I just get a few pieces of raw purple onion for my burger, nothing fancy?" Nope, after speaking to manager they now want 55 cents for a slice of a vegetable on the burger! I jokingly asked "How much for the entire onion?" They responded that they won't sell an entire onion. And remember when you would get a burger deluxe and there would be a bunch of french fries on your plate, not anymore here. Now they put a small handful of french fries in a small metal cup on your plate, maybe 20 medium fries. Now it's $1.00 for a slice of cheese and 75 cents for lettuce and tomato. So now it's $15.95 for a cheeseburger with a few french fries, an onion ring, cole slaw, and pickles. They won't charge you for an extra pickle slice yet, so at least I could eat a few pickle spears with our $100 burgers. Also, $3.25 for a seltzer?!! This place is crazy! I wonder how many times the topic of charging for ketchup, salt & pepper came up b/c that's next I fear! The prices go up, the portions get smaller, and we get nickel and dimed for every little thing. So I left a significantly smaller tip, if I'm going to get cheaped out on every little thing then I'm going to start doing it too. If prices increase by 20% and portions decrease by 20% and service decreases then that's where I'm going to find my savings. Sorry to say, this is our new reality.

I came here for a Sunday morning breakfast with family, and as someone with celiac disease, I always pay close attention to gluten-free options. I was pleasantly surprised by how many choices they offer. They have gluten-free pancakes, gluten-free French toast, gluten-free bread (which I had with my omelet), and even gluten-free wraps for sandwiches. It's refreshing to see a diner that clearly put thought into accommodating gluten-free diners. The menu has also expanded overall, with plenty of options for non-gluten-free eaters. I ordered the Southwest omelet with gluten-free toast and was satisfied with my meal. At our table, one family member ordered the stuffed waffle (which looked really good), and another had the short ribs Benedict. The Benedict was tasty, but the English muffin was a bit overcooked and we were expecting a bit more short rib on the plate. Service was attentive despite how busy it was. Our server checked in on us regularly, and when they noticed we were going through a lot of water, they kindly left a pitcher at the table, which was very appreciated. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak hours, but they do utilize a nearby convenience store lot for additional parking, which helps. They also have a great-looking dessert case, but we were way too full to try anything this time--hopefully next visit. Overall, this is a solid diner option that works well for families, groups with mixed dietary needs, or even a late-night bite. With a wide-ranging menu and breakfast served all day, there's truly something for everyone.

The host at the desk didn't even look up for literally three minutes. When he finally did, he was preoccupied a d seemed annoyed with us..he grabbed the menus, brought us to a booth, tossed the menus on the table, and basically walked away. No hello, no Happy Mother's Day, no "your server will be with you shortly." It then took about 20 minutes just to get a cup of coffee and we had to ask to be waited on We placed our food order at the same time, and about 20 minutes later the waitress came back and asked us to confirm what we ordered. Needless to say, everything took forever after that, including getting the check. We were in the diner for about an hour and a half. Everyone understands restaurants can be busy on Mother's Day, but it wasn't busy when we got there, and even when places are busy, no one should be spending an hour and a half in a diner for breakfast. What's disappointing is that this is actually the second time we've been there since the renovation, and unfortunately we had the same experience with the service both times. From now on, we'll gladly take the extra 20-minute ride to the River Edge Diner in River Edge. The service, food, and staff there are excellent, and you actually feel welcome and happy to be there. Food here was OK, but the service and overall experience were disappointing. We will not be going back.
