This is one of the better diners that I have eaten at in the North Jersey area. I usually stop in here for lunch but recently have had a few breakfasts here. The food is usually very good, and the service is swift. Your food usually comes out very quickly and is cooked to well. There are too may options to list here for your meals, you will definitely find something appealing. The omelettes and eggs are never dry here which is a common problem in most diners I have been too in the area. The one negative thing here is that the desserts have a tendency to be a little dry. I stopped in for cake a few times and it was stale. In closing, this place is worth a shot, stop by sometime for lunch. read more

This is my go to place. Comfortable. Majority of staff friendly. Food always good. Waiters in early am r great. Very eager to please. Greet u warmly and eager to make sure u have everything. Food is always great. My daughter and I went New Year's Eve about 1:30 pm . We were seated right away and when the waiter brought our drinks he literally thru the straws at us. My daughter and I looked at each other. Excuse me Ok then daughters. drink was brought and again he threw the straw at her. When the table next to us had their drinks brought he respectfully put them down next to each drink. They were brought their food first and we waited. Burger. Sweet potato fries. Mmmmm... Living in the Southwest, I love the whole diner fetish of NJ & NY. There's literally one every few blocks, it seems. And from where do these menus come? There's like EVERYTHING on it. It's always great when your friends want one thing and you want another. Only wish they had some kind of beans as a side dish. (must be a Southern/Southwestern thing). Anyhoo. I had a great burger, and AMAZING sweet potato fries. I had my burger sans bun, and the salad they put under it was a fresh, green spring mix with tasty tomatoes. Usually when I think diners, I just lower my standards right away (the diners in the South and Southwest usually suck), but I thought the quality of Northvale was up there with a decent restaurant. I moved with my family to New Jersey about five years ago, and have since become very interested in diner culture. After visiting tons of diners, the Northvale Diner has easily become my favorite. Aesthetically, it's superior -- the remodeling has added a lovely dining room and a great patio. I love that I can sit outside at a diner. In addition, the food and service are both wonderful. All of the servers are attentive to their respective tables, and I have never had a bad experience. The typical diner fare is done unusually well. The Greek food, though, is where Northvale Diner shines -- from the salads to gyros and wraps, I always feel like my selection is authentic. Although I cannot comment on the Management because I have never had a problem at Northvale Diner, the various people I have dealt with at the counter have all seemed very nice and willing to help. Now out of the blue they give you 1 small chop and pass it off to be. 16 oz chop It was salty and dry they just lost a long time patron. Decided to finally try Northvale Classic Diner and switch things up a bit -- we usually go to the sister diner in Tenafly every weekend. I'm glad we tried this funky-looking establishment out... Big, clean dining room: bright, sunny and cheerful! The menu seemed a bit smaller than Tenafly, but still had my go-to (Greek Frittata!) and my husband really enjoyed his eggs benedict with salmon. I asked for crispy bacon, and I got just that. Perfectly cripsy! We were quite pleased, and discussed adding this place to our weekend repertoire! You can't go wrong here. They know how to make breakfast foods, the wait staff is prompt and courteous, and there was plenty of parking. Even on a busy Sunday morning our wait was under 5 minutes. We'll be back. read more

Usual this place is pretty good but not so much today. Super slow service and it wasn't busy. I ordered a Bloody Mary and she ordered a mimosa.... and when they arrived we ordered our food. She got a pasta and I got a salad..... it took almost 45 minutes to come out..... all in all, we were there for an hour and twenty minutes. Way too long. The food was alright. Nice building, decent menu but ice cold aggressive owner and management. On April 23rd several cyclists and I arrived at this diner for lunch. Upon arrival one cyclist implored the owner to allow the riders to place their bikes within eyeshot. The owner refused and became aggressive. I ended up sitting outside (in the wind/cold/drizzle) to monitor my bike and others. The owner also refused to serve me while sitting on their patio until about half hour into my frozen stay - and one Clif bar later. His concious kicked in and finally a menu came out with one stipulation... that I take my feet of the iron seat and sit like a lady. I ordered coffee and breakfast which probably had someone's DNA included. What a terrible terrible way to manage your business. Steer clear if you want your property to be safe as the owner cares not for your well-being nor the safety of your property. At the very least have security cameras that monitor more that the trash. This is a really good local diner. We come here at all different times and typically always receive good service. The breakfast is really good and you don't have to wait to long for your food. Sometimes they remember me here and are ratherly more nice. Last time I had George, he was super attentive and very nice. I love this diner. Been going here since I was a kid and it's nice to see they've kept the place going. Food is always good diner food and it's nice to see a mom and pop establishment make it through tough economic times through the years. This trip I ordered the Mac and cheese squares. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a little too Brady for my taste but the insides were good with the cheese sauce that came with them. I also ordered the broccoli ran and it was tender and tasty. Diner is huge. I am a fan of the Tenafly one. This one seems clean, well kept and modern. We arrived at 9 and by 10 it was pretty packed. Nice staff. My husbandliked his food (eggs, homefries, pancakes on side to shar with my son) good deal and serving for $10. My dish was OK. I got chicken and waffles. ($13) Basically waffle and 3 chicken fingerlike/small patties. It was just OK. Had to send the first waffle back because it was overcooked, dry and harder thanI would like. We've been going to the diner for years now and the service is usually a very good as well as the food. It's understandable during this pandemic the service is going to be a little slower due to the lack of help. But, this is the second time we have gone there on a Sunday And told to wait for 15 minutes. An hour later we were told to be another 15 minutes. The old guy who seems to work only on the weekends and seats you is an arrogant SOB and doesn't care about you and it shows. We've been supporting this diner even towards the bad times in the past year and I've been nothing but happy with the normal people there. We've been coming here at least 2-3 times a month for years. We've told people how great the salads are, among other favorites. However, in the last few months, the quality and portions have gone downhill. The salads are smaller, the wraps are smaller. Tonight, a Saturday, we had to wait more than 30 minutes for a wrap and a burger. The place was not packed - there seemed to be a large take out business causing this delay. This is a great place to eat if you're cycling, out and about. Actually, if you're doing a training ride, don't be like me and stuff your face. I'm not a diner person but I thought the food was ok. I got the steak with eggs, potatoes and buttermilk pancake. Yea, what was I thinking, eating so much food...but anyways, the steak was meh-too overcooked even though I asked for it to be medium. It was one of those flank steaks. It was on the tough and chewy side. Even my friend who is a steak lover didn't even want to try it. The buttermilk pancakes were delicious though. Very light and fluffy. We also ordered the cheese fries. It was not good. The cheese wasn't melty and gooey. A minute after it was served to our table, the cheese hardened and made the fries stick together. The fries were fried well though. On the other hand, service here was great! Our waiter actually asked if we wanted to get our bottles refilled and refilled it for us. Also, they have great outdoor seating so that you can keep an eye on your bike while you nosh. I will stop by again when I'm on a training ride that bypasses this area. read more

Let's start off with the actual diner itself - it's very big, pretty, and super clean. Employees are constantly hustling and bustling to clean tables, etc. Manager ( I guess it was manager - it wasn't our waiter) Came by to ask us if we were okay. However, the actual food was just okay. My burger was very dry (albeit I asked for it well done - but ive had well done- juicy burgers before!) and the french fries weren't crispy at all. My bf had a chicken ceasar wrap which he said was extremely dry - it lacked the actual dressing. He ordered chilli cheese fries - the chilli on the fries was very bland no actual flavor to it. Frankly, I make a better chilli. I won't be back, only because it was a random spot on the way back to Jersey from a quick trip out that way. I couldn't even tell you where this place is honestly. I agree with the other reviewers that this is much pricier than I would have expected. It's more along the lines of diners on Long Island. I went with a family group the other night. The service was good. The food looked excellent coming out of the kitchen, and the portions were generous, but it was only so-so in terms of taste. Disappointing third time here ordered off the specials menu for breakfast. Pricing was ok for the items with juice and coffee included. The hiccup came when I was told orange juice was not included only apple, cranberry or tomato. Picked the apple and it was pretty bad. Very sweet and "cheap " tasting. Came here tonight with a party of 8. Sure it was dinner time and we are a large party but they made absolutely no effort to get anything set up for us. The hostess quite literally just stared at us for 10 minutes as at least 4 other parities came and got seated immediately. The waiters kept telling us they needed to set up a table, even though we saw a whole section of empty tables that they could have found a way to get us in. So we just walked. And no one gave a shit. Not the hostess, not any of the dozens of waiters who fed us the same bs, not even the obvious manager who stood cluelessly nearby. Worst 2 diner experiences in my life. I was there about 2 months ago and ordered a hamburger deluxe. I'm not a picky eater and usually order a hamburger for lunch at a diner. There was nothing wrong with the meat but the food was flavorless. I don't generally use more than one small piece of onion but had to use the whole thing plus salt and pepper which I never use. The fries were not crisp. I vowed never to go back but my friend wanted to go today because they offer gluten free options. This time we tried breakfast. She ordered the gluten free pancakes and I ordered the regular French toast. It only took one bite and we both asked each other if there was a sour taste. Not sure if it was sour milk or bad eggs but both items tasted off. We mentioned it to the manager and she said nobody else had complained. They took the food off the bill but not the drinks (a coffee, a seltzer and an egg cream). Most establishments would just not charge for anything. She ended up not charging but only after we made a comment. Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscienceness recommend this diner which is so disappointing since it is so close to my physical therapy office. read more

Bad fries, ok overpriced burger, decent thick roast turkey sandwich but the tomato was pale and the the salad was pretty good.
