I saw an ad for the furniture store in a local Gilbert newspaper. The ad mentioned design services and that caught my eye. The store is in downtown Gilbert and has been there for over 50 years! A one-star rating honestly feels generous for our experience with Norwood. We purchased over $20,000 in bedroom furniture and blinds from this store. Unfortunately, the bed (approximately $3,800) has been a major and ongoing problem, and other items such as the nightstands and dressers also have drawers that do not align properly. At the time of purchase, we were only shown a photo of the bed and were assured that it could be customized at the factory. That never happened. Instead, the store chose to modify the bed themselves at their warehouse, without consulting us about the details and not in the manner we had requested. The result was a bed that was painted a color we did not choose and that does not work with our décor. Even worse, the modification changed the design from a platform bed into something entirely different, which created a structure with sharp corners that jut outward from the frame. This has created a serious safety concern in our home. My husband and I regularly hit our legs on these corners and are constantly dealing with bruises. I also explained to the store that I suffer from seizures, which makes these protruding corners particularly dangerous. A fall or loss of balance during a seizure could result in serious injury because of the way the bed frame now extends outward. When we asked to return the bed due to these issues, we were told we absolutely could not because the store had already spent money customizing it. A second major issue is the bed base itself, which appears to have been built with very little support and started squeaking almost immediately. This raised concerns about the stability and durability of a nearly $4,000 bed. To his credit, the store manager did visit our home and suggested a solution: installing a metal support base to stabilize it. We agreed to this fix. However, the night before the installation we were informed that we would be charged approximately $250 for the support. In other words, we were asked to pay additional money to correct a structural issue with a brand-new bed that was already improperly modified and delivered in a color and design we did not approve. We declined to pay for the fix, and the owner, Brian Brundrett, refused to absorb the charge. We are now left with a bed that: * Was modified without our input * Is painted a color we did not choose * Is no longer the platform design we originally purchased * Has protruding corners that cause frequent bruising and present a major safety risk * Has inadequate base support For a purchase of this size, we expected better craftsmanship, better communication, and a company willing to stand behind its products. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. Based on our experience, I would strongly urge others to think carefully before purchasing from Norwood. Given the safety issues and the fact the bed was delivered differently than represented, we are now exploring consumer protection and warranty options. read more

I have lived near Old Town Gilbert long enough to still call it Old Town Gilbert. I recently decided to look for a new couch so i decided to look on Norwood Furniture's website. I will say i have never ever seen any one inside the location on Gilbert and Elliot but it seems to be surviving as a business somehow. The website is very strange. There is not sort filter by pricing, there aren't any pricing on the any of the products period which is beyond unusual. There is a section on the website that says they do have pricing but i didn't see any. there is also a "compare" option in the listing but I am unsure how it works since there isn't anything that pops up that is comparing the selected items. If i am honest, my friend and I have joked about this being some sort of front but i had never went to their website until a few moments ago. I have never been into Norwood Furniture in person. I have dealt with them 4 times over the years by phone. The furniture brands I purchase are like Levi Jeans. The manufacturer sets the price for all dealers and it is same across price across the board. The manufacturer also choses when the furniture is on sale and the price. They carry a lot of beautiful furniture that you wouldn't find in furniture stores. You can see this Customer service is always awesome. I have never had any issues with the pieces nor have I needed to return anything so I can't give any feedback on that. Norwood has been in Downtown Gilbert a LONG time and I'm not sure how they have achieved this. They have huge windows that face Gilbert Road, and two of them are visibly damaged; one has had what looks like a bullet hole for the past decade, and about a week ago it looks like another bullet has gone into a second window -- which is totally shattered and bulging outwards -- and it seems like one tap will be all it takes to completely fall to the ground if it doesn't injure anyone in the process. How can they have such expensive items and never repair their windows? It's no wonder you never see people in there when the business is an absolute blight on the downtown. read more

Overall, I had a wonderful experience buying a new bedroom set at Norwood and highly recommend working with Maria. I had purchased a chair and clock at Norwood many years ago and had a good experience. So I returned, and was shown around by a female salesperson who was to follow up with me on pricing of two different sets. Well a week passed and I received no phone call or e-mail. I was pretty disappointed and had lost confidence in this person. I did a lot of price comparisons with these sets with online stores and other local vendors. I decided to call Norwood again, and was greeted by Maria who immediately gave me pricing on both sets. She invited me to their annual designer event, which I attended and met with her in person. Maria is knowledgeable, has great ideas, really listens, and is not pushy at all. This was a big purchase and a big decision for me. Maria was so patient and helpful. She is a real asset to the company. I received a significant discount with a sale and event coupon, and the set came in a few weeks. The delivery people were great. A nightstand drawer was missing a part, however, and the dresser was damaged with a rub scratch when they installed the mirror. This was quickly rectified. They did not have a furniture repair person who could come out to the house, however, so the items had to be returned to the store for repair. The items were repaired perfectly, and returned in a very short time, so it really wasn't a big deal. So all in all, there were a few glitches in the purchase, but overall, the value/price, quality, and process was great and I am loving my new bedroom set. There are definite advantages to buying from a store like Norwood, as I'm sure that any of these issues would have been way harder to resolve with an online purchase. Thank you Maria! read more

We purchased furniture from Norwood on 2 different occasions for our homes. The first time was a set of reclining leather couches; the second was a bedroom set for our daughter and a dining room set. The quality of the furniture is very high and the pieces are quality. The selection is good if you're looking for high-end furniture. Both times that we've gone to the showroom though, it has taken quite a while for us to find a sales associate to help us, which is unfortunate. Its been a few years since we purchased our last furniture, so hopefully that has changed since. read more

Don't buy from Norwood, just save yourself the headaches!! We spent a great deal of money in this store and all up front. We purchased "high end furniture" and here is a list of what we purchased. A nightstand, a dining room table and 6 chairs, a live edge coffee table, a bedroom bench, 3 leather bar chairs, 2 dressers and 1 with a large mirror, a velvet rocking chair, leather sectional couch, 3 large rugs, candles, plants, lamps and other decor items. I will say that the way our large furniture items were delivered, well it was just absolutely sad and shocking to say the least!! 1 dresser had multiple dings and dents(that had already been touched up before it was delivered to us(obviously someone else had this piece and yes, there was a delivery tag on the dresser and our last name was not on that tag and it was dated several weeks earlier. Ugh!!!! One dresser and night stand were damaged and needed to be repaired(again)or replaced. They did come out with replacements and the delivery guys were really great. I actually called and told Phil(service manager)that these 2 men did a really great job and I thanked them all several times. However, Norwood charged us over 100$ for a delivery fee?! I did call and that delivery fee was eventually refunded. It's unreal that this company thought we should be charged twice for a delivery fee because they had to replace the damaged products that they delivered to us...not my problem, Norwood Furniture!! Our sofa sectional was dented and ripped in several areas...what a nightmare and it was also "touched up" in several areas. I took several pictures (I attached some) and shared them with the sales associate, Haselyn and also with the service manager, Phil. The service manager agreed that the dings, dents and rips in our dresser, nightstand and sectional/couch were "really noticeable and not acceptable"and stated that "the furniture we received was not typical of Norwood Furniture" and he apologized and said he'd "get this taken care of" he did. However, getting a call back from the sales "lady" associate, Haselyn...was not easy. She didn't seem to care that we were not happy with the furniture that was delivered (who would be) as it was damaged. So many excuses for no response or for a snarky response, if we did get one. She was either "off that day" or "busy with her Cat" as she explained (the story) to my husband and myself!! Her excuse for her rude behavior and snarky attitude was because her cat "got out of his kennel and took off and she had to get him to the vet" she stated she was "stressed" and did apologize but only after I spoke with the service manager. We did go back to the store to pick out some other items and Haselyn told us that "her assistant would be helping us" that's convenient. Pretty sure a nice commission was made from the items that we purchased at Norwood from Haselyn and we never even received a real thank you...that's classless, to say it nicely. Haselyn brushed us off and never followed up, as she said she would. Unfortunately; we did put in several calls to hopeful get things resolved but never received a call back...until Phil(Service Manager) called us back, thank you, Phil. The snarky comments and attitude... that is what really made me sit back and write this negative review, it's the first negative review that I've done. We were looking to renovate a kitchen and 3 baths with Norwood...thanking my stars that we didn't* We did go with another company INF and they're all fantastic!! They have been so helpful and our sales associate, Mary is just the absolute best!! Planning a remodeling project the size of ours has been easy with Mary and IBF...thank you, thank you all so very much!! We have also purchased several pieces of furniture and decor from Mary at IBF and it's all beautiful and exactly as expected if not better, honestly...they go above and beyond!! This is top notch customer service and an all around fantastic company..I just can't say enough good things about IBF!! Norwood, My husband and I had high hopes and Norwood Furniture let us down...several times for several reasons. I also saved 2 very snarky voicemails and a few text messages, some people are just pathetic. I won't be giving anyone any reason to shop from your company. This is a review of my experience buying a whole house full of furniture. We were so excited to find a store that sold furniture that didn't look like it was going to fall apart after a week. After spending a very large amount of money on everything from bedframes to tables and rugs, lamps etc.; we thought that we were close to getting done. We became aware that our stuff was not all that we hoped and spent. We sent back a few items to be repaired and returned to us with more dents/smudges. What happened. We called and talked to the owner. He said thats the way it came from the vender and take it or return it with a restocking fee. HMMMM!!!!!!! That was not the answer we wanted to hear. But I can tell you now that they sell the stuff on the floor for retail price and when you get it home you find that the lamp shades are not perfect or the piece has stratches where you didn't notice. The store does their staging of furniture with all kinds of decor which ends up ruining the surfaces because people are not careful. I won't shop there anymore as a result of the owners attitude after spending a huge amount of money. Disappointing experience. read more

There are a number of large rooms with furniture staged in vignettes or displayed individually. Pricing is on the high side but it's truly a case of you get what you pay for. Susan helped me during my recent visit and was everything a designer and sales person should be. I highly recommend asking for Susan when you go to Norwood. I was referred to Norwood to purchase new furniture for my home. I enjoyed working with Shasta. I was excited to purchase a sofa with a cuddler and couldn't wait to decorate my house. I spent $1,500 on the sofa and around $6000 in furniture. A year later (13 months) and the cuddler is sagging and out of shape in the middle. I called Norwood to see what they could do. I was told there is nothing they can do and then said "this happens with cuddlers". What? You know cuddlers do this and yet you still sell them? Why would you do that? They talked with the manufacturer who offered new foam (same type) and then Norwood added more padding to strengthen the foam. It looked great and then proceeded to sag again. I am disheartened by the experience. I am about to change out the sofa because it looks so shabby and I get disappointed when I look at it. I don't understand the whole thing. How come they didn't do the right thing and replace the sofa? They know it's not quality construction. Or at the least Shasta should have let me know about how the sofa will wear over time. I am not sure how this company got such high reviews but after my recent experience I recommend that you NEVER shop at this establishment. Carol was my saleswoman and is the only bright light in this place. She's the only person that has at least tried to help. After the order was placed things went downhill. It took 8 weeks to get my bedroom set. The delivery team showed up, argued with each other the whole time and was extremely unprofessional. They broke my bed putting it together and wanted me to pay my balance for the broken pieces before they left. Ray the service manager tried to convince my husband to let them try to fix the bed and refurbish it instead of replacing the bed. We spent over $1800 on a new bed and expect a new unbroken bed. We spoke with the warehouse manager who at least got us a new bed ordered but never followed up with us as to how long this would take. The store manager Todd was "supposed" to call us but could not be bothered and I'm still waiting for the call. It has taken more than 10 phone calls over several weeks , taking several hours of our time to fight for only what I ordered. They never even offered to at the very least wave the $150 delivery fee. Some good faith gesture but this company clearly doesn't care about their customers or their business. I was really hoping to found a good furniture place but after this HORRIBLE service I cannot in good conscience recommend them. read more

Well if you're looking for service to continue after the sale is made, i would suggest going elsewhere. After purchasing a home locally, my husband and I were looking to furnish several rooms. Having worked in high end furniture stores for several years that offered design services, I chose Norwood because of the quality brands that I was familiar with and the services that they offered. I guess I should have read the reviews first. After being ignored for a good 20 minutes after we first arrived in the showroom, we were finally greeted and explained what we were looking for and our future plans of furnishing our new home. The sales person / designer was very helpful and we chose a beautiful Canadel dining set. We also spoke to our sales rep about some import pieces from Hooker that we were thinking about for my husbands office. She said she would get some info and get back to us. That never happened. We called a couple times to find out what the lead times and pricing were for the pieces, but never heard back from her. Our dining set was delivered a couple months later, and we never had a follow up call. All the designers I've ever worked with would follow up after delivery. Not a peep from ours from Norwood. Fast forward a couple months, I called her to see if we could get some fabric samples of the upholstered chairs we had purchased as I was starting to look at other items. She said she'd look in to it and call me back. Never got a call from her. That was last year. I called again two months ago, and even though I didn't want to deal with the same sales rep I was transferred to her. I asked again for the samples. She told me that they can be hard too get, but that she would try and call me back. Even went through the motions of taking my number down. Guess what...still haven't heard from her. This kind of business relies on customer service and word of mouth quite a bit, so it baffles me that I can't even get a call back. I was prepared to spend a good chunk of money here furnishing my 5000 sq ft home, but if they can't be bothered to follow up, why would I want to give them any more of my business? read more

2 stars instead of 1 for the sake of the sales staff who I enjoyed working with. I stopped by to browse and ended up having an employee come to my new house to provide designer options. We ended up picking about $10k in furniture in which I let her know I'd have to buy in portions due to the price. She completely understood and printed me a list so I knew which furniture to seek out down the road. All was good until the bedroom furniture was delivered and they called about the bed footboard being the wrong size. They said I can lean the headboard against the wall for "effect" but won't have a bed for a month. I understand this may be out of their control, but common business practice puts the responsibility on the retailer if a problem arises. Maybe it's on me, but I expected a bit more than "lay it against the wall", especially when I have another $8k planned to spend at the store. Obviously I will have to go elsewhere to furnish the rest of my house, but it would have been nice to give Norwood all of my business. My wife and I dropped in at Norwood Furniture store in order to let them know that there was problem with a mechanism on a recliner I had purchased from them about a year ago. The general manager met with us and assured that they would make things right. He surprised us by remembering us and the sale. The very next working day, their service manager, Phil Long, called and inquired about details of the problem. His technician was booked out a week or more but after we identified the nature of the problem over the phone, he came right over with the proper replacement parts and installed them and my recliner was fully operational that day. I could not be more pleased with Phil's rapid response and the professionalism and courtesy he showed while on the phone and in my house doing the repairs. And it was very quick to boot. I recommend Norwood Furniture for the way they stand behind the products they sell and service and the interest they have shown in making this customer happy. read more

This is my first and last purchase at this place, which is so disappointing as I liked the store!!! I ordered 2 leather recliners, that were not inexpensive, one has a three inch slice, which I didn't notice immediately because it was so fine. I contacted service and the manager said he was 100% certain that it didn't happen in their possession! They gave me a number for a repair man, which I have to pay for!! Upon his arrival he assured me that the slit was from a very sharp knife, such as a box cutter! That makes the most since to me, as how this could happen. Four years ago we bought a red leather electric reclining sofa from Norwood. We also purchased the extended leather warranty. So fast forward and we notice the leather peeling in several places. We call and speak to Todd, the owner, who tried every which way not to make things right. He offered to give us a discount if we bought a new sofa from him (never). We wouldn't give this place another dime. He tells us he will be happy to take our sofa to some auction and give us whatever he might get for it. We have since donated it to Sunshine Acres Orphanage and purchased a new leather sofa from a reputable furniture store. I shopped around the entire valley before deciding to go with Norwood furniture for our customized sectional. We ordered at the first of the year and were told it would be several months- into May- before the couch was built. With the events of the past year, we weren't surprised by this and were fine waiting for the couch we really loved. Fast forward to the end of May- I never got a call from them to let us know our sectional was done. I had to call and found out that it had arrived and was sitting in their warehouse but that the chaise lounge was missing. Our sales rep said she called the manufacturer and that it should be arriving soon. I asked if the sectional could be delivered first and then the chaise once it was done but was told that would be an additional delivery fee, so we decided to wait. Weeks went by and several phone calls later, being bounced around to several different sales reps, still no chaise. Finally, they said they would waive additional delivery fee, send the sectional now and chaise when it arrived. By the middle/end of June, we finally got the couch (it sat for a month in their warehouse) but a cushion was torn at the seam and needs to be repaired. It is now into July and still no chaise. I have asked to speak with management and have been denied and I keep getting a different story on when we will get the chaise from 3 different sales reps now. The original salesperson we worked with said last month the chaise was done but went on wrong delivery truck. The second salesperson I spoke with said she did some digging around and that it sounded like maybe the chaise hadn't actually been built, but she wasn't sure...but that manufacturer was "expediting" it and that "expedite" meant 2 more weeks. It has been past those 2 weeks now and the 3rd salesperson I spoke with said that it looks like the estimated date is now for end of July, but not sure. It has been months and I am FED UP! No help from management, no straight answers, still missing the chaise and a torn cushion. This is outright unacceptable! read more

Do not be fooled into thinking that Norwood only sells expensive, top-end furniture. It isn't true. Two years ago I bought two leather recliner sofas from them and they now look like they are 20 years old. The padding has mashed down to the point that it is uncomfortable to sit in. When they were delivered I called and said that they were the most uncomfortable sofas I had ever sat in. They offered to give me 70% store credit which I didn't take because I will never buy anything from them again. Their customer service was non-existant. I do not recommend them at all. read more

High pressure sales environment with very high prices! This place has a very unusual lay out, but they seem to have some nice things. I didn't think it was any nicer than most mid range furniture places. I looked at the price tags and was floored! I can't believe how overpriced they are! You are immediately cornered by a sales person who won't let you just look around. I really don't like shopping for furniture in that environment. They make you invest 20-30 minutes explaining everything you want before really diving in and letting you look. We were told about their custom options and when we saw the prices just to start, we were ready to go. My wife is too gracious and I had to get very assertive to get us out of there. We started looking at a few things on the way out, but the sales women had been called to the front to make a final approach. Sorry, but I don't like this kind of high pressure! If you need this tactic to sell your furniture, it's either low quality or severely over priced. I would never by anything in this environment just based on principle. We purchased a "leather" sectional in November 2018. There are only 2 adults in the house and only 1 section of the sectional gets any daily use. After 7 months the " leather " is peeling off the seat and foot rest. I called and asked for a refund on it since we'd had it less than 1 year. I was told a repair person, Phil, would come out to look at it. He came out and more or less said it was due to something I'd done. My sweat, lotions, maybe a medication I was taking (I take none)...everything except that this piece of furniture was subpar. We've had many leather pieces in the past and they've lasted years and years. I even have a leather recliner from Costco which I sat in daily prior to getting this sectional. No peeling on it! Needless to say they ordered a replacement seat area to repair the damage. It'll take 3 months because it's coming from the factory in CHINA. Poor customer service...We even paid extra for the leather care warranty. I don't even believe it's truly leather, leather doesn't peel and have fabric behind it. It has to be bonded leather which could have as little as 20% real leather. Buyer beware! read more

The guys (Dustin and Jullius) covered the door frame with pads so as to not get the furniture dirty or mar the paint. They were pleasant and friendly and gave us time to inspect everything. I have to give another shout-out to our designer, Jodie, for her suggestions to tie the new furniture in with the old. The living room looks wonderful! I went to Norwood's and found a sectional and sofa table I wanted to buy. I was prepared to make the purchase that day. Hazelyn sent us home though. Said she was going to put some things together in our floor plan and she'd email it in 1 to 2 days. Over the next two weeks I reached out to her multiple times only to get the big blow off. We just had a bed delivered this morning and I love the bed but I was very disappointed with the quality of service from the installers. On the website it says they offer a white glove service where they set up your bed and will move other furniture into place. I told them where I wanted the bed and other furniture. They put it in the general area but didn't even put it against the wall. So now my husband and I have to move the heavy bed ourselves or have our pillows falling off the top of the bed all night. Spoke w Shasta yesterday about a toddler bed conversion kit. Came in today and Shasta was out but Kevin helped us. I was a bit nervous we would be getting a high-pressure sales pitch bc they had a reception desk to check in. Surprisingly, we had three people helping us as we selected a color and placed our order....but ZERO aggressive sales pitches. It was pleasant and we never felt any pressure to spend more than the $200 we intended for the one item we needed. I normally detest furniture shopping with a burning passion and a hate from the bottom of my soul........but I needed to order this item for my daughter's safety, so I sucked it up and went in. The next time I need furniture I'll check here first. Did I mention how allergic I am to furniture shopping? :) Really, go. Check it out. The owner, Todd, is extremely rude and lacks any people skills. Having spent thousands on furniture from Norwood, I can simply no longer justify giving them my business. Sales and design staff are wonderful but, buyer beware, if you run into any issues with your order Todd will make sure you know your customer experience is not valued. Unfortunately the reviews are true, the competition offers the same product at a better price and will make you feel as though your loyalty is valued. Beware, this place sells marginal furniture. You would do better buying from American and paying less. If you want quality furniture, buy at a high-end retailer. I have a leather recliner that looks like crap after a year. The owner, Todd Brundrett has no clue about customer satisfaction.
