We went to dinner for our Mom's birthday trip to NYC. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is classy, though a bit tight on the space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were a party of 7. The service was timely and the food was well prepared.

I wanted Novita to be more impressive than it was.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant is very cramped and not much room between tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That's not a deal breaker for me, but the bus boys were constantly hovering over the table, yet our waiter was never anywhere to be found. Now onto the food.. we split the stuffed zucchinis for an appetizer and they were very bland. My sister got the stuffed chicken which came out dry, but still flavorful. My mom's dish was the best of the night. The braised beef gnocchi. The gnocchi themselves were super soft but the sauce was rich and flavorful with lots of chunks of meat. I got the carbonara, it was good but nothing special. And it appeared to be more of an American version made with cream and butter. Overall just an ok experience.

We wanted to get an elevated dining experience so we decided to spontaneously try this restaurant while we were walking by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You walk down some steps into this very calm restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was busy but we were seated right away. We ordered the black in pasta and truffle Kobe beef dish which was very interesting but not exactly mind-blowing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, I think this is a decent place for a dinner date[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My, my, my, this experience was divine. There is something so authentic about this restaurant. The staff treat you like family here. Gennaro got to know all the tables and was a class act to have around you start our night off. The wait staff here is attentive and does not let you feel forgotten. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is tight but it did not feel as though you were directly on top of the table next to you. And might I add, they were packed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To start I had an espresso martini and it was delicious. Perfectly strong and tasty. For the table, we ordered the Insalata di carciofini. It came with artichoke, mushrooms, celery, greens and parmigiano shavings. It was dressed in olive oil and the flavors mixed so well together. I never like celery, but it works so well in this dish! My dish was the Paglia e fieno alla bolognese. The pasta was fresh, the meat sauce was to die for and I loved that you could see the tomatoes in the sauce. It was very authentically done. I loved every bite. We finished with the tiramisu which was topped with cocoa powder. A delicious way to end the night! Special thanks to the wait staff and I wanted to shout out Anthony. He was great. I would highly recommend it here!

The food is amazing. The staff is so kind and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience is calming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite was the fungi appetizer and the lobster pasta. Portions are also filling. Would come again

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon walking in, they had curtains, possibly for privacy or to keep out the cold for winter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had made a reservation and were seated promptly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in a back room, so it was very private.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The rest of the restaurant looked very beautiful and peaceful as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter allowed us to go over rhe menu and then went over the specials for the night. Initially we had an idea of what we wanted, but that changed as soon as we heard the specials. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella with cherry tomatoes as our appetizer. I am a huge fan of buffalo mozzarella, so I already had high expectations, and they absolutely delivered. The mozzarella was creamy on the inside and had the perfect amount of salt that paired with the freshness of the tomatoes. It was a very refreshing dish to start our meal. They also provided bread, as well as breadsticks and have olive oil, salt, and pepper at the table to make some dipping oil. The bread was very good, nice soft inside with a rougher outside, and the bread sticks were amazingly crunchy. For our main dishes we got the gnocchi ragu/shirt rib and the truffle pasta - both specials. The gnocchi was unlike any gnocchi I have had. It was a perfect balance between fluffy with a bite. The meat was very tender and paired well with the gnocchi. I believe it also had tomatoes which cut through the savory dish. The truffle pasta was better than expected. Often times, I feel like truffle dishes can be overbearing, but this one was light and allowed you to taste the pasta, sauce, and truffle together, rather than a strong truffle flavor overbearing the other ingredients. The pasta was perfectly al dente and 1000% made in house/fresh. The cream sauce was light, and although I was incredibly full, I didn't feel weighed down like a normal cream sauce can make you feel. For dessert, we had the gelato affogato. If you're a fan of affogato in general, definitely order it. The espresso was had a strong full flavor and balanced well with the sweet ice cream. Overall, I would highly recommend it for a date night or overall nice night out. The ambience was great, the staff was very kind, and the food was unbelievable.

I was in New York over the weekend and had called the AMEX concierge to recommend an italian restaurant. This was one of the recommendations and without looking at the reviews, we came here Saturday night. We were sat right away, the server was attentive at first, but as soon as our food was brought, he was no longer attentive to our table. Not once, but twice he went around to ask every table how they were doing/ how was their meal except our table. At one point, he was looking at the front of the room (we were seated at the back wall by the wine) and was scratching the back of his head with a pen. The food was great, Chardonnay was great, but would not recommend if it was only based on the service.

A cozy spot in the Flatiron district with very good Italian food. Service was quick , wine selection was great , food was spot on and they offered a variety of desserts . This was a family outing to celebrate a work promotion. Make reservations as it's small dining room and a popular haunt too. To name what we picked for appetizers and entrees Crab cake with mango - tender meat well constructed patty with generous portions of crab meat . Mango relish on the side complemented it perfectly Zucchini blossom with prosciutto - deep fried delicates blossoms was crispy slightly sweet balanced by the the salty edge of prosciutto Spaghetti with lobster and crab meat - oooo double flavor and double the goodness ... was irresistible Spaghettini Neri Ai Frutti Di Mare - seafood galore a must try for pescatarians Gramigna Alla Carbonara - No workaround, the real deal Carbonara Spaghetti with Truffle butter and fresh white truffle - my o my ... white truffle explodes in every bite . Truffle lovers look no further - must try Ravioli Di Spinaci Con Mozzarella Di Bufala - simple elegant green ravioli - won't go wrong.. We had a sumptuous dinner and skipped dessert as there was Tom cruises favorite Coconut cake waiting for us at home specially baked by our nephew.. what a delightful way to end a memorable evening. Novità is a tiny gem in the ocean of NYC restaurants. Try it and you will be a regular.

Had dinner here while in NYC-- lovely atmosphere. I am giving it 3 stars because our entrees were wonderful- great flavor and perfect size! However, the service was less than desirable- our server came over to take our order- then basically never came back- thank goodness for the bus boy- he brought us balsamic for the mozzarella- it was cheese and tomatoes- with a little pea greens- nothing else- no seasoning, no olive oil, no balsamic... I also desired parmesan for my entree- again the bus boy came over and provided it. The server came by as I got up to use the restroom and asked about dessert- Very disappointing for a place that had flavorful entrees. Would not go back as there are many other options in NYC.

Cozy vibes and lovely old school Italian restaurant. Great dirty martinis, appetizers, pasta and service. We ate the Kobe beef carpaccio, insalata di carciofini, bolognese pasta and strozzapretti al pesto. Everything was delicious.

I ordered the Lamb Ragù pasta, and every bite was packed with rich, slow-cooked flavor. To start, my brother and I shared a pizza and the lobster appetizer, and both were incredible. My brother ordered the truffle pasta, and after stealing a few bites, I can honestly say it was just as unforgettable. The atmosphere was on another level. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option".
