I really wanted to like this place after the silly review about the unswept floor at the end of the day. All of the other reviews were great and the food looked beautiful! So, we stopped in for a Mother's Day lunch. I don't know if they were understaffed or what the issue was but the service was bad. Our waiter was busy so another stepped in and was so kind...they tagged teamed our table. That's fine. They were trying. And they were nice guys. It all was just chaotic and seemed to be lacking some leadership. Our chips were stale and there were very few of them for $8. Our food was beautiful and tasted good! More dining adventures off the strip in Fredericksburg. We had heard thru a local friend that Nury's was the new hotness among the locals. The chef working in other local restaurants for some time; this being their first official venture into something family owned. We met said friend for lunch over the weekend. Cheerful staff started our experience. The lunch special was brought to each table to show it off which was a nice touch. We all started with the butternut squash soup; excellent flavor and not a drop left in any of our cups. I could have drank a gallon of this soup! Excellent chips also accompanied the dish. Will try the chips and salsa next visit. I had already had breakfast at our B&B so I chose the club sandwich with fries as my lunch entree. Simple stuff here folks; but OH SO good. Even honored my request for soft bacon. Wife ordered the classic breakfast subbing the meat for refried beans. That would be eggs, home fries, beans, and one pancake again with stellar results. Friend had the street tacos; glad she told us to visit. Every plate that left the kitchen heading toward eager diners looked well prepared and delicious. I have a particular favorite in Fredericksburg that is my goto breakfast spot. It's ALWAYS packed and for good reason. The three stars is more about the poor service from our waitress than the food itself. The food was great, especially the "cake-like" pancakes and home fries. Now back to the service...The waitress took our order and that was the extent of service extended to us. We asked for extra napkins; she never brought them. I asked for a to-go container; she never brought it. I asked for a side of home fries; she never put the order in. When it was time to check out, she walked by our table multiple times and never said a word. No "thank you." No "come back and see us again." Nothing. Service like this costs a business in the long run. This place is sooo good!! I asked people around town where we should go and only 1 person recommended it and I'm shocked because I would have expected a lot of recommendations for it after going. We had breakfast there on a Saturday morning and there was no wait at 9am. They were making fresh coffee and I had the chilaquiles, I opted out of the chicken and it was still delicious! Stopped in for a late breakfast before heading out of town. My husband had the Divorciados (Huevos Ranchero with both red and green sauce) and I had the Huevos Rancheros. Both were very good! My husband did like the red sauce better, but both were very flavorful. Instead of potato's and refried beans, I substituted bacon which was not cooked as well as I would have liked. Here's a new discovery in Fredericksburg, found during our recent New Year's Eve getaway. Nury's is a small family owned breakfast and lunch eatery, oft frequented by locals. This very breezy morn we found ourselves famished, almost "hangry" for breakfast, and Marjan googled up Nury's. This is not a fancy place, and in truth, Marjan was a bit crestfallen when we entered the mostly dusty parking lot, and spied the simple, unostentatious facility. However, the place was packed with patrons filling their pie holes. Advertised as an international cafe, we had some doubts. But Marjan noticed the fish and chips delivered in puffy brown crusting, reminiscent of that which she enjoyed as a student in England. There were traditional Mexican breakfasts served to fellow diners, as well as traditional American fare: eggs/bacon/sausage. Our choices cemented their international boast: Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine. We were truly impressed with the dishes: perfect poaching, delicious in-house hollandaise, fresh beds of croissant and mufin overlaid with spinach, hams and cheeses. These dishes were both sided with those perfectly browned, diced potatoes. As dear mother would say, perhaps our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but forsooth, the dishes were delicious. And to top it off, the staff were universally congenial, prompt and with smiles all 'round. If you visit Fredericksburg, be sure to visit this eatery for a gratifying breakfast! My pancake was kind of dry but it was okay. The fried potatoes were as bland as can be. They were black and bland. My problem was my eggs were so greasy I couldn't eat them. Every one else's looked fine. The reason I'm giving it three stars is the price and it's not all that special for the price. $57 without tip. $72 with tip. Terrible service. We asked waitress if a dish could had a certain ingredient and she said no. We made it clear we could not eat ingredient (due to allergy). After waiting for our food- waitress brings out my spouse's dish and says the dish she previously said didn't have said ingredient did. No apology or anything. We've been coming to Fredericksburg for the past 14 years, typical twice a year and we thought we'd eaten at all the "top" restaurants in F'Burg. But when cruising Yelp on our last trip (3 months ago) I saw Nury's showing up with excellent reviews. Even though we were here for 2 weeks, we still didn't get a chance to get by on that trip, but decided we had to try this time in town. GREAT move!! We had lunch there today; arrived a few minutes after 12 and the place was already 90% full. The tables were appropriately spaced for safety and the servers all wore mask the entire time. Super clean throughout the restaurant and restrooms were immaculate. Wasn't sure what the "cuisine" was to be based on the online menu it seem to have a bit of everything. I decided on the Cochinita Pibil when looking at the menu purely based on the menu description. Much to my disappointment they don't have Cochinita Pibil on Tuesday as they are closed on Mondays and the pork has to braze overnight, so they only have the rest of the week. But I already had a second choice which was the Enchiladas Verdes, so that's the direction I took. They were FANTASTIC!!! Kinda glad the Cochinita Pibil wasn't available. Very light, fresh and delicate; not your typical TexMex with heavy gravies and gobs of melted yellow cheese; shredded chicken breast meat filled the white corn tortillas. Mexican rice usually isn't my thing, most is nothing but gummy yellow rice with no flavor, not at Nury's! Light and fluffy rice with peas and carrots blended throughout. The refried beans were the only "average" thing on the plate, even the tortilla chips served with the beans were super crispy and just perfect. My wife ordered the Chicken Flautas, of which she loved (had to be coerced to let me try them). Again, not heavy, bulky TexMex with volume over quality. There was salad type mixture over the top of the Flautas which was very tasty and really added to the already great Flautas. Accompanied with the same rice and beans. Excellent dish, so don't think of the as your "average' greasy over crisp Flautas from your local TexMex. I like very hot and spicy foods, so I asked for some "HOT" salsa for my dish, a gentlemen (I think he might have been the owner) came by and asked if we needed anything, so I asked for his hottest salsa. He brought back two salsas, one "medium" and one "HOT"; he told me to use just a little bit of the "HOT" as it was really hot. He was right, it was very hot, but still flavorful, not just pure tasteless capsaicin found in most of your "HOT" sauces. We I asked for a few more tortilla chips, he immediately complied. We we super impressed with Nury's and it will definately be on our regular dining circuit when in F'burg. However, we will be here for a week and I will be having the Cochinita Pibil before we leave!! Remember.... On Tuesday Nury's doesn't have Cochinita Pibil, so if that's on your radar, make it Wednesday thru Sunday, also during COVID they are only open from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. BTW-I dove into my plate before I could remember to take any pictures; for that I apologize. But I can assure you that unlike most restaurant pictures of their food NEVER looking like what your served, Nury's photographs are representative of exactly what you will served. read more

Great place to go to when you 're in Fredericksburg. My husband enjoyed the Chefs special. Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Nice flavor and cooked to perfection. I had the creamy chicken poblano enchiladas. It came with three and I thought three would put me over the top. The chicken was wrapped in a single corn tortilla which was a perfect portion size and topped with white cheese.Most enchiladas are heavy because of the flour enchilada but this portion was light on the belly. The Mexican rice was fluffy and the bean soup was nicely flavored with garlic and cilantro. Service was right on point. We'll be back. read more

If I could give zero stars I would ! Do not fall for the tourist trap and eat at this restaurant. My mother and I stopped in this morning for breakfast and were greeted and sat . 3 different servers came to our table so there seemed to be a lot of confusion which I can imagine happens due to the lack of competent and professional Management. My mother and I ordered our breakfast and said crispy bacon .. the bacon was black and burnt and served to us by the "manager " my mother asked for over medium and got over easy eggs the toast was burnt and the potatoes looked like they were very low quality so she didn't even try them . My mother waited for a long time for a refill and when our waitress ( the manager ) finally came to refill she was rude and overfilled the coffee cup where it was spilling over the sides . My mother then looked at her and said it would be best if you left room for creamer and didn't spill the coffee and the "'manager" rolled her eyes and laughed . When we tried to speak to her about this she started making a scene and kept repeating very loudly "I didn't do anything " over and over and would not let us talk , she then started yelling I didn't spill coffee on you you lie" again we never said she did we were trying to address the food issues and service issues and this woman made a very big scene . When I tried to talk to her at the counter and told her I am here so you can't make a scene and be so unprofessional and explain what we are saying she just kept yelling i didn't do anything and then the worst part is her staff weren't even attending their customers and they were hanging out and yelling at us and had no idea what was going on because their incompetent manager was playing the victim instead of admitting her fault and apologizing like a professional and mature manager would do . I can only imagine this happens often due to the fact the staff weren't trained to continue their duties but instead to try and intimidate and harass us as customers trying to speak to the manager . I will never recommend this restaurant to families as this is disturbing behavior for children to have to witness as well as the bad food quality for higher prices .
