Absolutely delicious! Ordered a large order for staff at the hospital and it was ready in time and each sandwich was jam packed with meat. There was a wide variety of bagels and I appreciated the online 'build your own' option. Bagel was exactly how I like it: crusty outside soft inside and the ham was not too salty! I loved it. This was my first time trying this place. Placed an order for pickup through the yelp app. Ordering was pretty seamless. Timeliness of order being ready was great. Hash browns tasted okay, not sure I would order again unless I needed to add more calories to my meal. The main items, our breakfast sandwich's were disappointing. I ordered sourdough bread. After taking my first bite which packed an unexpected flavor, I researched online. Looking at their menu options, and images via a google search, it seems whoever made our sandwiches confused RYE with SOURDOUGH. Definitely not the taste we chose or were expecting. I would have preferred for my order to NOT be ready early, and instead CORRECT, as ordered and paid for. If I choose to give this place a 2nd chance I will definitely check my order before leaving and possibly consider ordering in person. Can't recommend this place enough. Food was great and owner was very hospitable. We visited this place two days in a row that we stayed in the city. I picked up the #14 (lox bagel) both days, portion size was great and very fresh. We picked up a variety of other items including croissants and muffins; all were excellent. The place is clean and has a small eating area inside, or you can take it to go which is what I saw a majority of customers do. I've read the reviews, I've been a few times, and I have a very different and way more accurate, IMO, view of this place. It's one of the few bagel spots in the area (that you'd even actually want a bagel from) but upon my last visit I finally determined they aren't that great. The bagels themselves are a tad too dense and a smidge too small... When factoring in the "NYC price" as someone put it; I can't condone coming here. They are NOT fast, as another reviewer stated, and they charge $5 for a bagel with cream cheese. Guess how much they charged me for a BEC.... Granted I added a hash brown.... .... $14.85!! Never again! Was it good? Yeah, it was really good but so is a full meal anywhere else; they don't allow dogs even if in my arms just to place an order; the same $2 drink at any other deli is $4 here... So, what's so great about it? Just the sheer fact that it's all that's here, doing what they do, and they aren't god awful, doesn't make them "awesome." Even if you charge $8 for the BEC, $2 for the hash brown... do you then charge $3 for SPK?? Screw you guys for real; no other spot is ripping people off with a $15 egg sandwich. read more

I wanted to try the Sausage Egg Bagel in which i thought would be really good. It was a little tad bit bland for me. Usually i dont bitch to much about bland food is, because i can dot it up a little with some seasonings or adding when i take it to go. This case,, we ate here for breakfast, and the coffee was delicious. Service was not bad. No rude employees disrespecting us. Next time i will have to try some other bagels to give a higher score on yelp. read more

My friend/co-worker swears by this place for bagels. This was after four years of medical school and a couple years of fellowship nearby. The shop was bustling when we entered at around 8am on a Friday. You can order in the front with the cashier and the order gets transmitted to the line of bagel makers. Everyone was moving fast. I enjoyed my egg, bacon and cheese over a sesame bagel. The coffee was just ok though. It came wrapped in cling wrap so it traveled well. read more

I work at NYU Langone so I have been to this bagel shop quite a few times over the years, especially since there are no other bagel shops within immediate walking distance. It's easy to drop by on the way to the hospital to grab a quick meal. The bagels are quite good --- definitely fresh with the right density and texture, though a bit on the smaller side. The ratio of cream cheese to bagel is spot on. I have also ordered a variety of other food including sandwiches, wraps, and even hot dogs (I know... a bit strange from a bagel shop but, in my defense, there was a promotion!). Overall, the food is always consistently solid. However, the reason for the three stars is that they keep on raising prices to the point that I now have to question if It is worth the price. The other day, a bagel with plain cream cheese cost me over $4. A bagel with lox sandwich costs almost $17. It's starting to become a bit absurd. In summary, solid bagels near NYU Langone, especially considering that there isn't much competition in the area, but beware of the rising prices. read more

I don't know where they are getting positive reviews from and for ... About the bagel and the turkey: Walked in 5:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Asked for a poppy seed bagel with plain cream cheese, toasted. Cost was $ 4.50. Opened it back at my desk and instead of the bagel being toasted in a toaster, it was slapped face down on the grill. The cream cheese, well it tasted from GREASE, like I was eating scrambled eggs flavored cream cheese. Never again. And the service is awkward. I placed the order and paid for it and then the cashier and the sandwich/bagel guy had a 3 minute chat about what I wanted. WTF, it is a bagel, toasted with cream cheese. The next day they had a fresh whole turkey displayed with a sign turkey special for as little as $ 4.99. They told me this would be sliced turkey from this beautiful looking freshly made turkey, it was ... on a bagel. I ordered that. When I opened it, I found they took the fresh turkey and put it on the grill and now it tasted from grill grease. Fresh turkey a la grease. I won't go in there again. read more

I love that they have actual chopped up fresh veggies in the veggie tofu CC that I always get. My staple: whole wheat everything bagel, toasted, with tofu veggie CC. The staff here is also super kind, quick and accommodating. When my boyfriend dropped his coffees because of a bum mishap, the cafe offered to give him bananas. After running around all morning for medical appointments, I decided to break my fast and treat myself to a lox bagel. Came here based on reviews and proximity to the hospital. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Now it doesn't come close to David's bagel on 1st and 14th st but it's good enough. I had an everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, lettuce and tomato. It was pretty good! The bagel was not as moist and chewy like David's-on the drier side but still tasted good. I think what made this a pretty good meal-was the price!
