I love tzatziki and would and have loved this potato salad but there was way too much tzatziki in the salad for me. The potatoes got lost in that sauce and my sister thought the same. Went for the first time to Oak and Ember for lunch. Was seated quickly, and greeted by our server Armando who was great. He helped answer our questions and ensured what we're ordering was going to be something to enjoy. We ordered the BBQ platter, which came with four sides. We choose the Mac-n-cheese, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Creamy Mashed Potatoes, and Tallow Fries. The platter was huge and the meat was pretty good. The BBQ sauce on the chicken seemed to have a slight kick to it. The Carne Asada was tender and paired nicely with the provided Salsa Verde. Tri-Tip and Brisket were both tender, but could have used a little more seasoning. But if you like dipping it into BBQ sauce, then it's just right. The Ribs were plenty, and fell off the bone (mostly), maybe just needed to be smoked a little longer. Overall the food was good, the service was great, and the atmosphere was nice. I want to say I was a little disappointed. At first walk in it seemed nice, and busy for a Friday night. It took a while for us to sit, but wasn't too upset about that. I was thrown off by the menu they have, as it is WAY different from the menu that is online. The booths are too small, as we both felt very crammed between the seat and the table. (Now I'm not the skinniest person, but I'm not that big either) Ordered a couple drinks, and our food, and this is where it got interesting, I really wanted the Ember old fashioned, and that was not on the menu. No biggie just give me the traditional one. My fiancé ordered the watermelon margarita, and we didn't taste any watermelon at all, more citrus than anything. the food was served almost immediately after placing our order so I was a little skeptical. I ordered the brisket, which was a little disappointing as it was very well done, and a little dry, but the flavor was good. My fiancé ordered the tri tip, that was very well done as well, and a little tough, but she said the flavor was good, and in one bite she could taste the smoke. Came here with my family for my MIL's birthday and everyone enjoyed the food! I was kind of weary to try this restaurant due to it being new and the different reviews, but glad we decided to come and try it out! We had a huge party (18) and they accommodated us in a timely manner. One dish was forgotten, but they made up for it! My husband and I shared The Oak and the El Rey tacos. The El Rey tacos were just okay, not bad but wouldn't order it again. It didn't have much flavor to it. The Oak burger we both enjoyed a lot! We also got a side of Brussels Sprouts which we both liked also. The decor of the restaurant was nicely done and for our party being so huge we didn't feel too cramped. It's always tough going out with such a huge family and glad we now have Oak and Ember as a choice, and the main reason why we chose to come here is because they're halal! Came here as a group of 4 with a reservation at 5pm on Saturday. It was a couple's date night and we were all excited to try local BBQ. Walking in, we were immediately greeted and had a moment to take in the decor and vibe of the place. You could smell the BBQ in the air walking in. After seating, we could see the crowd growing which built up our anticipation. Our server took a moment to stop by our table, but she arrived with waters and a smile. We ordered the Queso Fundido as an appetizer, Moscow Mule, and Lemon Drop Martini to start. We received a complimentary sample of their focaccia bread while waiting and it was good! Crispy on the bottom and flavorful herbs with olive oil - definitely a fusion of Mediterranean flavors. The menu has a decent variety, but in all honesty, nothing really stood out to us in terms of offerings and value. There is no pork on the menu because the business is Halal, but I don't feel there is an appropriate compensation for the lack of other BBQ menu items. It also seems contradictory to serve alcohol. We inquired on a sampler plate to try a little bit of everything, but the servings would have been too large for our group and our appetites. After about 20 minutes of debating on what to order, we settled on 2 orders of ribs, an order of brisket, and an order of tri tip. We had sides of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and Brussel sprouts. Now for the actual food review - drinks were too strong and flavors were not balanced. The vodka overpowered in both the Martini and Mule. The Queso Fundido had a great presentation, but the chips were regrettably from the bottom of the bag - crushed and small bits. The Queso was melty and gooey for about 2 minutes before it solidified. It was impossible to enjoy this appetizer the way it was intended given these circumstances. Our food arrived and presentation was beautiful. A little odd that they garnished with peppers and pickles with no slaw or other typical complimentary BBQ sides, but perhaps this is part of the fusion. I will say the cornbread was very delicious, just small portion. I had ordered the Tri Tip and it was served with chimichurri on top. It was good and had a nice flavor, but maybe I was missing some salt to amplify and bind all the flavors together. The Tri Tip was cooked very good and the texture was juicy. Portion was satisfying and had to take the rest to-go. I had a side of Brussel sprouts and they were very delicious! Highlight of my entire meal. Had I not ordered the Brussel sprouts, I feel my meal would have been disappointing. I was able to try the macaroni and cheese and felt it also lacked seasoning or salt. It was bland but had a great presentation. The mashed potatoes were standard. The ribs are huge and I would say this was the best value. We had to ask for BBQ on the side because there are no condiments at the table. TLDR; Overall, we were feeling the effects of a stiff drink, took most of our meal as leftovers, and felt a bit underwhelmed from the experience. Service was a bit slow as servers are mostly young staff getting familiar with the fast-paced industry. The prices are somewhat reasonable for the value and quality. I would recommend this place to anyone curious to explore BBQ fusion, but not for those who take BBQ seriously. Very average experience for my group. read more

When the food did come, they arrived without any barbeque sauce, surprisingly. We had to ask for some later, and were only given two little containers. The brussels sprouts were good but nothing special. My father-in-law really liked the mac & cheese. The corn bread that came with every order was surprisingly delicious. I thought the carne asada was okay though my 8-year-old said it had the most flavor compared to the other meats. Brisket was surprisingly underwhelming - they're usually my favorite. Beef ribs were really good but only if cooked right. We had two orders of them and one was really tender and the other was totally overcooked and therefore a lot of inedible meats. Throughout the meal, service was lacking. There were times we couldn't find our server. When we asked for some things like paper napkins and barbeque sauce, they would take a long time to get to us.
