What a great addition to Eagle dining. Beautifully prepared and very tasty. I had the Signature salad and the appetizer meatballs. Oh my, so delicious. My friend had the Seafood chowder and the Cuban sandwich. I am not a fan of fish soups but I tried a bite of the chowder and I have to say it was amazing. No weird, eclectic food here just great food that will appeal to every age and taste.The atmosphere has changed and I mean that in a very positive way. Casual but classy. Our families first time here tonight. We had the eggplant Napoleon which was savory and filling for a vegetarian entree and my husbands filet was cooked to temperature and very flavorful. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. I got to chat with the owner as we were leaving and her love for the food and people were evident. The Oak Barrel is our go to place for great salads and soup. The Signature Salad is delicious! The atmosphere is cozy but modern. The service has always been great, and we have never been disappointed. The menu is not too big, but there is something for everyone. My brother-in-law requested something off the menu, and they were very accommodating. I highly recommend Oak Barrel for a casual but intimate lunch or dinner. read more

Please save yourself some money and avoid this restaurant. We made reservations and walked into an empty restaurant on a Saturday night at 8 pm. We were allowed to choose our table. The server was not pleasant and seemed a bit bothered that we were there. We overlooked the first few red flags and proceeded to order. When our wine arrived my glass was dirty, and when the server walked up to find me cleaning off the rim with my napkin, she offered to bring me another glass. When I showed her the sparkly lip gloss I had removed with my napkin, you would have thought she would have promptly replaced it with a clean one. She did not renew my napkin. We ordered an appetizer that was decent, but expensive for five small scallops. The salads were delicious. We ordered a skirt steak medium rare. When our steak arrived, and it was extremely rare and was missing the chimichurri sauce. We had to ask for the bread and oil that was supposed to accompany our meal. By the time our server returned to check on our meal I had eaten the overdone asparagus that accompanied the steak but had to have it returned to the kitchen to be cooked a little further. When the server finally returned with the steak cooked more thoroughly the cook staff placed the meat onto a new plate as well as the end pieces of the asparagus that I had already eaten. As someone who has served tables for many years, the vegetable should have been replaced. Upon ordering one more glass of wine, the server delivered yet again, another dirty glass. When we spoke to what appeared to be a host or manager, he promptly told us that he would "take care of us" and by doing so, he didn't charge us for the glass of wine that I didn't drink because it was in a dirty glass. Thanks for nothing. We will not be returning to this establishment. At the very least we have a fun story of how terrible the service was, dirty glasses, poor presentation, and the less than inviting bland environment. The entire experience lacked luster. read more

Ate dinner here last night, and plan on going back again frequently!! Absolutely amazing meals all around the table, from the great tapas, to the trout, lamb sandwich, filet mignon, and grilled chicken breast. The dessert was not great, but you can't complain after such a beautiful meal! read more

I had the Lamb Dip sandwich for lunch most recently, it blew my mind! Delicious tender meat, flavorful melted cheese, soft toasted bun, with a rosemary jus. Best dip style sandwich I have ever eaten! We have been here twice now and both were good but not great. They still are working on some kinks in the armor is my guess. Our second visit was in the bar for some drinks and enjoyment of the entertainment. We thought the band was very good for the price. Tips. They were fun and interactive. The drinks were good and service was very good in the beginning then our waiter seemed to dissapear. They were not very busy so not sure what that was about. read more

For the market this restaurant is targeting i have to give it a good recommendation. I just had lunch and contrary to one of the previous reviewers thought the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Unlike the old winding creek grill which I thought was an expensive bardenay with a lower quality of food, this restaurant should rise to be in that medium priced fine dining area and compete well with Bella Aguila. Eagle needs another medium upscale restaurant and this is it. I put it above the bardenay but It's not in the same fine dining category as chateau de fleurs (but it's also not nearly as expensive). My lunch companion had the pulled pork sandwich which he liked. Service was good, owner is there making sure it runs smoothly. Would have given it a 5 but it's too new I did look at the wine list for dinner, good selection that is reasonably priced and I really liked the tapas selection for dinner (I heard the executive chef is Spanish) but I have to try it Recommend you give it a try and make your own conclusions, lunch was good read more

Went there for the first time today. They have only been open a couple of weeks. The Good: Food was tender and great flavor. We were in town visiting family for Christmas, but ended up needing to get some takeout Christmas Eve to take back to our hotel. It was not easy finding a place open and luckily we stumbled upon Oak Barrel. The service was wonderful and our food was really good. Food was EXCELLENT! The sauce used on the chicken was out of this world, vegetables were nicely cooked. Ambience was great, you could hear your tablemates. My food was cold and my adult order of spaghetti was about 1/3 the size of my child's order of macaroni and cheese. I never received the bread and dipping sauces. Our appetizer came after our entrees. Out of a party of 5 not a single person enjoyed their meal. Needless to say will not return again. We discovered a JEWEL last night in Eagle. We had an unbelievably FABULOUS dinner at what I am now calling "Eagles Finest Restaurant!!" The Oak Barrel of Eagle is located where the old Willow Creek Grill use to be...Old State and Hill. Completely remodeled space, attentive and quick service, moderately priced for an upscale eatery and truly delicious food made completely on site from scratch. Everyone should try it!! This one needs to be supported and be here long term. Open for lunch (FABULOUS salads and the best clan chowder any of us had ever eaten), dinner and perfect for dessert after a holiday concert or event. Go in and give it a try...yum!! Horrible. Went on New Year's Eve, food was not made to order and was cold when it was brought to the table. No compensation or real explanation for getting a cold, small 32 dollar steak. Half the orders were cold at the table, we were just so hungry after the 55 minute wait some people ate them anyway. Not worth the money or effort to drive to the restaurant. read more

Had a outstanding lunch at Oak Barrel today. I had the daily special which was a wrap with oven baked fries. The wrap was worthy- very filling and good size but the blend of meats, sauce, cheese and lettuce made it a perfect lunch. The fries were bomb and did not anything on them to eat! On a recent visit to Eagle, Idaho, we had the occasion to dine at Oak Barrel of Eagle. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Kristina, who was nice enough to personally greet us and tell us about her restaurant. Our meals were delicious and they had a good wine selection. Happy hour was also a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed dining here so much that we did return again during our stay. The service provided by both Caitlin and Tammy was excellent, very nice ladies. We look forward to returning to Oak Barrel when we are back in Eagle. This is a great restaurant, our compliments to the chef. read more

Just finished a meal at Oak Barrel. The capris salad was excellent. The trout entree did not disappoint. My martini was excellent too. My guest had the balsamic chicken with side of asparagus and ratatouille. This meal was not good. The chicken was overpowered with balsamic and flavor bland. Asparagus difficult to eat due to fibrous. The ratatouille is tough and not flavorful. The staff did not offer ground pepper??? Which might have improved this dish. I would not recommend this dish. New restaurant, decor nice, still kinks to work out. Will try again. Please improve the balsamic chicken dish!! Nice to have dessert menu in writing. Ground pepper is always offered at top restaurants. For these two reasons I give OB a 3 star. I believe it will soon be a 4 plus. read more

Went on a Friday night and the food was great. I had the hamburger which in my opinion is the best burger in Boise along with the fries, excellent. My wife started with the tomato bisque which was excellent followed by the chicken flatbread which she said was great. I tasted the bisque and some of the best I've had. I hope this place stays around and people don't listen to the "overpriced" or "wonder bread" folks as this is an excellent establishment, not to mention the service was above par. read more

We came in several months ago so I can't pinpoint the exact date other than during the week and during Happy Hour. We sat along the creek to the left side as you walk outside. Perhaps that is your smoking area because there and just a few feet further is where your staff was smoking. Perhaps those employees have moved on or perhaps you moved the smoking area. I really wouldn't know. But I am sure if you review your tapes of that area over a few weeks time you will be able to determine if it is still a problem. I am glad to hear you have Happy Hour now! The food was good, I got the pulled pork sandwich and my husband ordered the salmon. We both liked our food but it was noting special that would bring us coming back soon. Their Bloody Mary was sub par, and the food I think is over priced. They are trying to be too fancy. The decor was nice and the chairs are very comfy, service was okay. My husband and I decided to give Winding Creek another shot but then found out that restaurant was now Oak Barrel. We were pleasantly surprised at first. We sat in the lounge area which may have been our down fall. As the night went on.. our waiter who had worked there for a week had given us brushetta instead of a side salad, forgot to give my husband his beer, owner and waiter forgot our to go box and ended up charging us extra for one of our margaritas. On top of that there were tables that were littered with dirty cups and one even had a bill on it that was there when we arrived. Our waiter also appeared to pick up dirty glasses from the bar with his fingers on the inside and then would proceed with serving people without washing his hands. He also seemed spun out or possibly drunk. The food however was pretty good. If they could get their costumer service under control we would think about going back because the food was good. I know that the guy was new but it was one thing after another. Plus the owner on her phone in the restaurant area after she forgot the to go box was unappealing. read more
