I have only had drinks here - no food. I really like Oak Long Bar. Yes, the drinks are pricey, but they are also well made and the ambiance is great! It is an upscale place with upscale prices. There have been a few times when I have come in and not stayed because it was too crowded (nowhere to sit), but I can't fault the place for being popular. On the flip side - there have been a couple of occasions when I didn't think my friend and I would be able to sit because we weren't having dinner and the hostess would give us a table for drinks-only. Each time, this particular hostess (I really should get her name next time), has been more than accommodating and super-friendly. In general - the service has been top notch. I hope to have dinner there in the future - in the meantime, I will continue to stop by for cocktails/wine. read more

A fun and lively place in Copley Square. The drinks were excellent and the small plates or shareables were also delicious- with lots textures and complimentary flavors. Came with a group of friends to do a cocktail bar crawl....we combined words. Use your imagination. I had something very smokey that I wish was called the smoke show but was definitely not. It was the priciest thing on the menu but I think it was worth it for the top shelf liquors that were in it as well as the show (they used a torch to smoke the glass up). Service was quick and actually put on that show, which I did not expect and could imagine them getting tired of doing it but they didn't let on. read more

We stopped here on a whim not knowing what we were getting ourselves into for brunch. Food was fine , I ordered the corned beef hash which was a little greasy but tasty and it came with eggs and toast for $21. To wash it down I enjoyed my $8 coffee and my friends enjoyed their meals ( chowder, pizza , brunch burger) espresso martini at $20 and a Bloody Mary. Overall the meal was fine, price point is expensive but again we didn't realize what we were walking into we were just hungry and looking to explore somewhere new. We started with the hearth bread which was the perfect bite for a rainy afternoon. The afternoon menu was limited and decided to order the mushroom flatbread. I was extremely disappointed; the flatbread lacked flavor, salt or pepper may have helped but the mushroom mixture was oily and basically ruined my appetite for the evening. This past weekend me and my girl decided to take a little weekend getaway to Boston, a city I've reluctantly avoided mainly due to my immense hatred for their sport teams (yes, I hate the Patriots THAT much). However, not only was my experience in "Bah-ston" fantastic, but I also had one of the most amazing dining experiences of my life at the Oak Long Bar + Kitchen at the Fairmont Copley Plaza im beautiful Back Bay. Now, it is important I tell you that I knew the owner who happens to be my bosses son so I did get a mini VIP treatment, but nonetheless that doesn't take anything away from all the attributes this establishment brings to the table on a nightly basis. The service was exquisite, the staff were friendly and courteous and most importantly (at least in my book) there was barely a wait at all for our dishes. I got the Lobster Roll because why would you NOT get the lobster roll in New England and it was, for lack of better words, AWESOME. I know me a good lobster when I taste one and every piece of lobster meat on this sandwich was succulent and flavorful. My girl got the Oak burger which was served with a thick tender slice of applewood smoked bacon that was so good I may, or may not have shed a tear. The wine, compliments of the house, was fruity and complimented the food ever so well. And for an appetizer we got the cheese plate with prosciutto and olives (every Italians dream) and the Salt and Vinegar fries..... ugh I need to stop I'm starting to water at the mouth. As far as the ambiance goes, the restaurant was cathedral-esque with a modern twist. The music wasn't loud at all (one of my bugaboos if you follow my reviews) and our seats at the table were extremely comfortable. Now, regardless of our bill the food isn't cheap but, to be fair, wasn't over the top for an eatery as fine and polished as this was. If you're her in Boston and want a quaint, classy and delicious night out I would suggest The Oak Long Bar + Kitchen 100 out of 100 times. Screw 5 stars: I'd give it 10 if I could. Was attending a meeting and stopped in for Breakfast. A rather simple menu with enough variety for the basics. The coffee was disappointing - flat, bland, and not much flavor. I remember when they used to have French Press coffee here and that was delicious! Improvement can me made here. Ordered the corned beef hash, served in a skillet and 2 poached eggs. We stayed at the fairmont for several nights since we were attending a work conference here. On the last day of the conference, we had a longer lunch so we decided to come to this restaurant. By this time I have had lobster rolls on a daily basis, and the roll here still tasted so good! There was a generous amount of lobster meat on a brioche bread, served with a side of fries. My colleague got the fish which she also liked, but the lobster roll was very very satisfying. We also decided to end the meal with a decent sized Crème brûlée. The service was good and fairly fast. If I had known this restaurant was going to be this good I would've come here a few more times during my stay. read more

What a fall from grace. This used to be the finest hotel (and bar) in Boston. While the history and decor are amazing, everything else is exceedingly mediocre. The apps were like warm and very basic. This was my first visit to this venue. My aunt and I met here for lunch today. The ambiance was leisurely enough to allow two relatives who hadn't seen each other for a while to catch up, without feeling hurried to finish the meal and vacate the table. The food was quite good. I've heard that the service is terrible here, but our server surprised us very pleasantly. We are the sort of diners who will never order any item exactly as it was described on the menu, and he was patient with our special requests. In general, he was helpful, prompt, and kind - without being intrusive or interrupting our conversation. This run-of-the-mill, overpriced watering hole bears no resemblance to its predecessor, the classy, opulent Oak Room. The blasé, surly attitudes of the bar staff (one guy in particular) towards their customers would also never have been tolerated at the aforementioned, upscale Oak Room. There were ZERO clams in the clam chowder, and the bartender/waiter never came over to ask me how it was, pulled my bowl, and left the bill without ever asking. Came for a friend's birthday...had been here before and had a positive experience getting drinks at the bar. Ambiance is great but service was actually atrocious. Our first waitress basically abandoned us at the table, described a rum martini as "good" and then looked at us like we had 10 heads when my friends had to send it back because it tasted like Captain Morgan in a glass. Tried to send over a piece of cake for our friends birthday only to be let know that the kitchen had closed 45 min ago (we were given no prior warning of this like any restaurant would). Bussers tried to clear our food with around half still on the plate, clearly trying to rush us out. Our waitress then made us close out our tab since her shift was ending and pointed out another waitress who would "take care of us." We waited for around 30 minutes with no service and then flagged over our "waitress" who looked appalled that we had asked her for help and was incredibly rude when we asked for a candle for a cupcake a friend had brought in after being told with NO warning that we could not order from the kitchen. Manager ended up sending something over and trying her very best to rectify the situation but unfortunately was beyond repair at this point. Fine if you need a drink at the bar, but highly disappointed by the service at the table. Manager Cheryl was AMAZING and deserves better than this staff. read more

Lucille was so delightful from the time we walked in. She was at the host stand and gave my parents and I a wonder table and was warm and welcoming. Torin was our server. Professional and accommodating.-I would ask for Torin again. He gave honest suggestions and was so pleasant overall. Started with hearth baked bread. Came warm , crusty, and whipped vanilla butter. Tasty and comforting...filling. Dad got the burger. Not as big a burger as other restaurants but tasty. Has bacon and red onion jam but can ask for them in the side instead. Mom and I shared the halibut. Very nice fish with wild rice and a lovely yuzu based sauce. Didn't get managers name but she was very nice as well. Great staff. Will return! read more

Obviously, anything in the Fairmont just has to be nice. Or at least, pricey. OAK Long Bar is both. I love the atmosphere here, very classy. And for a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't super packed like a lot of bars around Boston. There was plenty of space, high ceilings, subdued lighting but not dark, beautiful upholstery. Try the charcuterie board and cheese board. This was my personal favorite. It came with large pieces of rustic bread. The olives were a great addition. It is warm, and ooey and gooey yet crispy in certain parts. Then I got the corned beef hash, my friend the Nutella and baileys French toast. We also got the breakfast mac'n'cheese. Where to begin! Very excited to dine at this famous location. Went for dinner with friends. We arrived a little early, bar was buzzing and busy. We were able to get a seat in an outer area no problem with that. We waited for 15 mins for a waiter to order a drink finally I gave up went in to the main Bar area approached a staff member and enquirer about a waiter, he seemed to take command of the situation so we continued to wait and wait! We were now over 20 mins Waiting to even put in a drink order! Long story short,finally got some cocktails. We were seated at our table and then I kid you not,waited another 30 mins for a waiter to take our orders which we included everything as god knows when we would see him again. This is a 2-star bar masquerading as a 5-star one. I understand that COVID has made it difficult to find and retain good employees, but one of the purposes of paying higher-than-average prices is to get better-than-average service. The OAK Long Bar continues to struggle in this arena. The food, by the way, is excellent: tasty, flavorful, with appropriately-sized portions; the trouble lies with the front-of-house. It begins with hostesses who can't figure out what tables they have available, and take overly long to seat patrons in a conspicuously-empty establishment. It continues with infrequent and indifferent service from waiters who are unkempt and inattentive. The coup-de-grace is when the bill is unceremoniously dumped on the table, unasked-for. Is this an Applebee's in Utica? Surely it's not a high-end hotel bar in Boston. Subject yourself to this treatment if you must, but you can get better service for half the price elsewhere. It's a pity the hard-working chefs don't have better management and servers to showcase the fine work they are doing. read more

The food was fine (not great); however, the service was horrible, especially considering how much we were paying. Initially, service was fine, but sometime after our salad our server went "MIA."
