We stopped in here for a quick lunch on our way toward the piers and were not disappointed by the food or ambiance as both were quite good, but the value was just not quite there to warrant four stars. I got a lamb plate- the meat was tender and the portion substantial, and the little side salad and hummus were both excellent. But my father in law's lamb gyro was low on meat and the chicken tenders (fried) were just enough. I also got a side veggie plate which was good. ( +Plenty of chicken! +NOT a tortilla wrap...YAY! -Sauce is meh... -Vegetables were fresh but old. Aka, the tomatoes are real, but they were too soggy. -Chicken was too dry! I remember when I used to go to the Oasis Grill on Drumm all the time since I agreed with everyone else that they had the best lamb shawarma in the city. But something happened to the mom-and-pop shop run by Mohammad Zughaiyir and his wife Muna Azzghayer. Success. They multiplied in a manner much like La Boulange, which started as a lovely little French bakery on Pine near Fillmore and turned into a very packaged chain. I had a dismal experience at the Oasis on Fourth and Mission because it appeared to be run by kids who really weren't paying attention to the customers since it took them away from their mobile devices. This location is more visible to passing pedestrian traffic since it's on one of the busier commercial stretches of Market, so they are much better behaved here. The only challenge is that the server never cracks a smile. Ever. It's a bit distressful because I wouldn't mind a warm smile to go with my pita bread. But no, not gonna happen so time to move on. Their version of kefta combines both ground lamb and beef and mixes it with grilled vegetables and places all of it over white rice. The other compartments contained a diced cucumber and tomato salad with yogurt sauce on top and a seasoned yogurt dressing bu itself. Isn't that redundant? Completing the tray was some hummus and some watered-down harissa. They give you a rolled up piece of finger-burning pita in foil to sop up all the sauce in that tray. It was all reasonably good but a far cry from the euphoria I used to have at their Drumm Street location. However, the new location offers surprisingly spacious seating and a clean restroom in the back. I've been back a couple of times by myself when I wanted a quick, non-controversial dinner before heading home. Still no smile though. My boss decided to buy everyone lunch last Friday from Oasis Grill. Perfect, since I've been meaning to check them out. I love Mediterranean food. Especially a good Mezza platter. Mezza platter ($11): This vegetarian plates comes with two falafel patties, hummus, Mediterranean salad, tabouli, Greek salad, cucumber and yogurt, red cabbage, dolma (stuffed grape leaf) and pita. Packaged well and beautiful for a take out order. The platter came in a container similar to a bento box, so everything had it's own section. I love that they also give you hot sauce as I like some spice with my food. Everything was super tasty. My only complaint would be the falafels were a little hard and the salad wasn't really dressed. But nothing a little hummus and yogurt couldn't fix. And the platter came with 4 pitas! If you like your bread, they give you plenty. I'm also a sucker for a good Mixed grill, so I can't wait to try that next time! read more

This place needs an explanation! My initial thought came from the movie "inside out" : Congratulations San Francisco you just ruined Gyro... Then I tried it. The food is so extremely fresh, food made with a Lebanese heart is clearly showing. The cons: It's a bit pricey but that's pretty much all of the Bay Area. Lots of veggies (not normal in Mediterranean food) The pros: Extremely fresh. Tasty food Here is the lamb gyro platter they call Shawarma (don't even get me started on that) If you don't want all your veggies you can always order it as a wrap. Tried out this new Oasis Grill on Market St, not far from Montgomery Bart Station back in Sept 2015. Got in line to order, service is slow, paid and had to wait a bit. I got Chicken Sawarma - it took a few minutes to get. It was cut in half for me, I was able to finish it so not that huge. Chicken can be dry, get extra Tahini sauce and their hot sauce is spicy! This is exactly how quick and speedy the team here ensures every order is complete. After ordering the Chicken Shawarma (original flavor) at the Drumm St location yesterday, I decided to order this item as a plate. The Rice, Chicken, Cucumbers, Greek Yogurt and Hummus were all very delicious. Flavoring of this lunch is perfect, it wasn't very dry or greasy either. It was a pretty decent spot, if you're there at the right time, the scent of the freshly grilled chicken and beef skewers will lure you right in! I ordered the chicken shawarma. The wrap was fresh and pliable and the grilled chicken was juicy and fresh as well. It's a nice hardy portion at a decent price. The wrap was hefty, I ate half before I remembered to leave a review. I like that they were generous with the hummus, the wrap would've definitely been filling on its own, getting fries was a little too much for me. The fries were crisp, hot, and I like that they don't add salt but give you the option to add it. The place itself is clean, plenty of room and it doesn't seem to get too packed here. The service was quick, I was impressed with how fast they gave me my order. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review would be the fact that the cashier took my order in a hurry and showed visible annoyance when I was thinking about getting a drink or not. Inconsistent service. Inconsistent portions. Eat here regularly on my lunch break because it's very close and the food taste pretty good. Always order the chicken avocado deluxe, sometimes with extra meat. Sometimes they tell me their is double meat but I know it's not because the size of the wrap is the same as the Regular one. Also for being a chicken AVOCADO DELUXE wrap...I rarely taste avocado except for in 3 bites usually at the end. For spending $20 on a wrap with extra chicken, it just wasn't worth it. Sometimes it's on a plate and they bring it to you, otherwise they yell out your number. Today they threw away my meal before I was finished while I was up getting water. UPDATE. This was near my hotel and I had a hankering for a gyro, so I ordered one online to go...big mistake. Almost $15 for one of the most unremarkable gyros I've ever eaten. Way too salty sauce, and too much lettuce. And they should give out microscopes with these gyros so you can find the meat. read more

Perfect quick hunger remedy on a budget. I've always enjoyed Oasis grill in the middle of shopping and strolling on Market Street. I've tried their veggie falafel wrap which also has eggplant. The portion size is generous and for a quick bite, it can be shared by two people easily. Make sure to ask for their res spicy sauce which is THE BOMB! I went for the vegan deluxe - stuffed with eggplant, peppers, tomato, lettuce, hummus and falafel with a drizzle of tahini sauce. My fiance got the chicken shawarma. Service was quick as it wasn't too busy during our visit. We grabbed our wraps to go and headed home. Diving into my 'vegan deluxe' at home I noticed something was a bit off. In a sunny shop on Market Street, I walk in for a crispy sesame chicken burger. What draws me to the shop, initially, is a particular image of said burger, looming larger than life above the cashier's counter. I often recall this image and it only take a few minutes to decide whether I'll take the muni a few blocks inbound to eat. The chicken burger is always the right answer. The sesame chicken is crispy and salty on the outside, tender on the inside, and fits handsomely inside a bun, topped with a couple of crunchy pickles and some negligible greens. On the scale of all chicken burgers, I cannot say if it is on the order of some internet-viral sensation. What I can say - is that it is halal and it is delicious. It feels so good to walk into this shop, with the kind staff and spacious tables, and order the big thing pictured behind the counter. This place is meant for someone like me, and I am not relegated to any side menu here. In so many ways this place is soothing to me. When the order arrives, often in a square paper plate barely containing the brimming burger, I like to choose a seat at the window, watching the rush of people pass on Market, some of them walking with purpose. Some of them slowing down and peering down to look at the menu propped up outside, debate if it is worth a stop in. I want to wave them in, "come in! Come have this delicious comforting chicken burger! You will leave happier than you came!" But I am quiet. I listen to the throwback R&B or Beyonce that is reliably playing, and sway, and munch. I trace the patterns of the tiled mural that covers the expanse of the wall opposite the large mirror. Light and soft blues bounce between them. The mural, I learn over time, isn't quite made of tiled pieces, but somehow drawn atop the existing tiles. Trying to replicate an old world feel from some ambiguous cultural past. This place comforts me, in its earnest cleanliness and decor, and its authenticity is more than good enough for me. read more

I wife had wanted to go here for a long time since we moved out of the city. So I first trip back in a while was not disappointing. Their newer store allows them to offer many things including a couple of items that are vegan focused. We got a wrap and a plate that will both vegan and we're not disappointed. Their hummus and tabouli etc. are all top-notch. And despite the fact that many other well regarded Middle Eastern places cannot give you decent pita bread, these guys do a good job of me giving you soft pita which goes really well with the plate I had. And when I asked for extra they have no problem giving me another serving which gives them an extra star in my book! I came here for lunch. There was only 1 couple in front of me, but I waited at least 15mins. I almost turned around and walked out. But I didn't want to be rude. The cashier was rude. He didn't even smile. I thought it was me; but someone said he Never cracks a smile. Ever. So I won't take that too personal. The other workers behind the grill smiled at me. I think the cashier Should be friendly if he is working the front. And also, they play their music too loud here. I like hip-hop music, but I don't think Everyone wants to hear that on blast. I feel like there are a lot of kids working here. I ordered the Veggie Mediterranean Melt. It was just ok. Nothing great about it. It was hard to eat because the sauce was very drippy. They didn't even give me any napkins. They keep the napkins behind the counter. I noticed other people where asking for napkins too. If you are going to serve Mediterranean wraps and gyros with the sauce, you really shouldn't be chintzy with the napkins. Just saying. I will not be coming back to this location. I like that there's so much seating here, and it's conveniently located. Usually I go to the Oasis Grill on Drumm St, but I happened to be nearby this one. The people that work here aren't as friendly as the Drumm St location, but I was here to get food, not experience amazing service. I ordered the beef shwarma plate, but the food tasted different from all the other times I've been to Oasis Grill. The ingredients tasted like they had been sitting out for awhile and just generally tasteless. Very unsatisfying. The next time I'm craving inexpensive mediterranean food, I'd rather walk to the Oasis Grill on Drumm St. There isn't seating inside the actual restaurant, but there's always seating around Embarcadero Center.
