Been living in Sherman oaks for a while now and excited to find another good vegan spot! not a vegan, but I'm all about trying new things! stopped by with my bf for an easy Wednesday dinner. Grabbed a bottle of Pino Grigio 1/2 off!! Yes plz!! tried their crispy potato tacos with fries!! So good! And BBQ sliders with tomato soup!! Ordered potato tacos and pineapple spiced guac. Pleasantly surprised by the tacos, Perfect, not over fried, and the portion is spot on! They top them with pico de gallo and raw poblano peppers - bonus points for the raw peppers! The side of dip sauce is delicious! They make their guac FRESH to order, so you actually get the vitamins, not simple carbs. Also, the chips are very tasty, as though they use sesame instead on olive oil when toasting - yummy! Came here tonight with a girlfriend who is vegan. She had raved about the place and she was spot on! I'm an omnivore, but I'm trying to do better at not being as much of a carnivore. This is the kind of place that can help me make that transition. The food was delicious, so fresh and flavorful. I got the kale Caesar and lentil soup. So yummy! Friend got the potato tacos which I will absolutely get next time. Nice wine list, kombucha on tap and really varied menu with a good price point. Excellent service from David. Absolutely lovely service! We came in for some lunch at around 12:30-1 pm. Ordered a few dishes and the food was fresh & tasty! We also tried some sangria, I must say the best sangria my girlfriend said she's had in a while! My favorite was the white sangria it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed. We will be coming back again! I love having a classy little vegan spot in the valley. I go here semi regularly and here are my top favs! 1. The PRETZEL!!! Do yourself a favor and order this. Maybe even just this. It is served warm with a fluffy interior and crunchy exterior, it comes with a mustard and cheese dip both of which are to die for. 10/10. 2. The nachos! You will not regret these. They're the perfect nachos with a little bit of everything in every bite. 3. The Caesar salad. It's just great, that's all. 4. The Mac & cheese. Also flawless, used to order this with the Caesar salad for lunch once a week. 5. The Beyond brat. They Jam Pack this guy with flavor. Grilled onions and peppers, spicy mustard, if you love a brat, you're going to love this one. I haven't tried everything on the menu yet, but I'm close! I'm not going to lie, this place came HIGHLY recommended to me. People around town rave about O'cado - perhaps that set the expectation level extremely high. My Mom and sister come here ALL of the TIME. I'm talking 3-5x a week. It's insane. I finally dropped in for Happy Hour last Friday with my sister. Service is 5 STAR. The food and drinks were mediocre at best in my opinion. I had the spicy marg and red wine sangria - two drinks that are probably my highlight drinks. I make an insane spicy marg probably second best I've ever had in life and my homemade red wine sangria is life changing. I love a good cocktail but both of these weren't great. The food was of course edible but just blah in my opinion, nothing to write home about. So, in closing like all things different strokes for different folks. I personally wouldn't recommend or rave about it but if you ask my two blood relatives they swear by this place and think it's the crème de la crème. I used to be vegan so I'm very picky when it comes to vegan restaurants. I would say this is a very healthy restaurant with good vegan dishes but lacked flavor in their dishes. My favorite dish was the nachos. It has jackfruit which serves as a protein replacement. I ordered: Nachos- thumbs up because it was flavorful Falafel wrap- very bland and no flavor BBQ salad- I liked what was in the salad but also tasted very bland. If you're looking to eat clean and healthy, I recommend dining here especially if you're vegan. The plate was clean when we left. :) I wanted a taste of the town, so I went with the below: * O'crab Cakes: how is this NOT crab?? I don't know what it's made of but wow I was so pleasantly surprised. If you enjoy fresh crab, the texture of this is spot on. And it's delicious with the sauce they provide. * Butternut Squash and Ricotta Toast: perfect. The butternut squash has a slight sweetness that paired perfectly well with the tartness of the "ricotta." It was FILLING, too. I ended up bringing half home. * Brussel Sprouts: usually when I order this at a restaurant, the brussels are fried to an oily crisp. These were cooked perfectly: still green, not overly oiled up, still tasty. Their housemade bacon is pretty delicious. The perfect addition of salty flavor to the sprouts. Also had a few glasses of wine (happy hour special haha), which were a perfect accompaniment. All in all I can't wait to come back and try other menu items. This nice vegan restaurant doesn't appear to be vegan upon first inspection. Even after you look at the menu. But their food is delectable. I had the BLTA and my boyfriend had the o'cado burger. They were both delicious and mouth watering. They both came w choice of sides: fries, salad, or choice of soup for an extra $1. They have skinny fries and waffle fries. I highly recommend the waffle fries! I'm not a big fry person but they were delicious. I cleaned my plate. The fries come with a dip that could only be explained as a mustardy aioli. Which doesn't sound appetizing but it was so good that I barely used the ketchup I asked for. Alanna was our server and she was really great about explaining the food and the different tastes. The BBQ southwest salad bowl is very savory, light, and delivers various tastes for my palette and satisfaction to keep me coming back, hands down one of my favorite items at this restaurant. The salad is 10/10 vegan or not. Spicy Nachos were good also, sauce tasted cheesy enough. For it being vegan perhaps an 8/10; compared to nonvegan I'd say 6/10. I wouldn't mind ordering it again. Meter street parking, chances of finding a spot depends on time and day. There's also an affordable paid parking lot around the corner, I believe it's a couple dollars an hour. read more

I went to lunch here with my girl friend, her bf and his friend. We sat outside, in the heat... wasn't the best idea. We stuck to the seats and the ceiling fans didn't create any breeze. However it was a super cute little patio area, so I'm sure it's nice to sit on when it's not 95° outside. Onto the food, I ordered the potato tacos, with a side salad. Salad was good, just enough dressing. Potato tacos were crispy (deep fried) had good flavor, however I didn't expect them to come out mini. You get 4 of them, which in fact would just be two normal tacos. But they were really good and I did enjoy my food. Would be back to try more items. I came here with a friend who was visiting town. Parking was not an issue since there's a parking lot nearby. We ended up getting the nachos, the cauliflower buffalo, and the mac n' cheese. At first, I was skeptical of how it would taste but was so surprised how I couldn't really tell that it wasn't made out of meat, except for the cauliflower buffalo. O'cado is a new, all-vegan place on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks at the former side of the Horseshoe Café where I had spent many nights as a younger lad writing caffeine fueled poetry. So it was nostalgic to be in the space again and especially exciting that a new all-vegetarian restaurant has opened up nearby. I can't express enough the joy of looking at a menu and knowing I can have absolutely everything without asking any questions. That having been said our experience with the food, in this comfortable sweet small space, was mixed. I ordered the crispy potato tacos because CRISPY. POTATO. TACOS. They tasted good and were served with a fresh green salsa and fries. I didn't really like the fries as they were coated and, I think, once you've coat a fry you have ruined it. Okay, this may just be my personal french-fry-preference...BUT coated french fries feels like it suits more of a bar/gastropub style restaurant rather than a vegan place that is conscious about food health as well as taste. Our kid enjoyed the Impossible Burger he ordered and said it was well worth the $17. (Though as vegetarian parents of a vegetarian kid we wished there was a less expensive kids menu as that's a lot to drop for a meal on a ten year old.) My wife got the Beet & Lentil salad which was very heavy on the arugula and didn't have enough of the other ingredients (lentils, beets, etc.) It's also cool that they offer rotating selections of craft beers...I'm a fan of sours and was delighted that they had one on the menu when we were there. This one was described as passionfruit flavored, but it really just tasted very, very sour with no particular fruit flavor coming through. Everything here is vegan, so need to ask questions if that's your diet, and there are lots of gluten-free options as well (with them helpfully labeled right on the menu). We hear they're working on adding a gluten-free bread option too, but didn't have one when we were there. Stumbled upon this gem by sheer chance. My Culver City buddy was gracias enough to trek to my side of town to watch Monday Night Football. We were looking for a spot just off the 405. Everywhere we went the were showing the game but without the volume turned up. As we made our way east on Ventura we saw this place with one TV over the bar. We walk in and asked the manager if he'd turn up the sound. He obliged and turned down the music and turned up the TV. There are only vegan options to munch on. But the food is tasty!I had the crab cakes and sprouts and my buddy had the avocado toast and pretzel. Everything was very good. Perhaps better than meat alternatives. I was pleasantly surprised. Service was great. Place filled up as the night rolled along. Their takeout machine was doing big time business. Folks love this place on the takeout apps apparently. Happy hour 5-6. Clean bathrooms. I made a quick trip here a few weeks ago because I was intrigued by their crusted grilled cheese video. It's a cute place with indoor/outdoor seating and a small bar area. I sat at an inside counter but it had windows that opened up so it felt like I was outside. The grilled cheese was a large portion and very filling. The cheese was a touch smoky flavored, which is not my favorite, but it was really good and came with a bowl of tomato soup. I didn't have room for dessert this time and there are lots of other yummy things on the menu like tacos, BBQ jackfruit sliders, and butternut ricotta toast, so I'll be back for sure. read more

This is one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever experienced - I am in love!! Believe the great reviews because this place is worth it. We came on a Thursday night and dined outdoors on the patio. Weather was chilly but service was warm - our server Hector took excellent care of us and made us feel welcomed. Ambiance was charming and we were really enjoying ourselves. We had the chimichurri fries, the impossible burger, and the kale Caesar- all 3 were excellent. I cannot wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu! Adding this also to my list of places to bring my family when they visit - it was that pleasant of an experience. Oh and of course - they had beer and wine and that always makes everything better! I have been here several times and I can honestly say this is one of my favorite vegan restaurants. The nachos here are hands down the best vegan nachos I have ever had. They are delicious and the flavors are so good and fresh. Some of my other favorites include the buffalo cauliflower, the BLTA sandwich, the street tacos and the avocado tacos. What can I say? It's been months since i've sat and eaten somewhere. But I'm elated that O'cado was my choice. Me & the homie pulled up yesterday for lunch and we didn't have to wait long before a nice lady came to us and got us a table. We started with the jackfruit crab cakes and the falafel balls. Not only did our food arrive timely, but hot and fresh as well! the hummus tasted like somebody's grandmama made it. BUSSIN'! And as you may know, a good falafel is so hard to find. The falafels were SCHMACKIN!...that means delicious. The crab cakes were soooooo soft and packed with flavor. For our mains, my friend got the Impossible Burger and he said it was amazing. I got the Avocado tacos and bro...HITTIN! On all cylinders! I don't do fries often but i did this time and didn't regret my decision as they were hit, fresh and very well seasoned. Our waitress greeted us with a smile every time she came to our table. We finished our food satiated and happy without breaking 60 bucks. Do yourself a favor and come to O'Cado.
