This was my second favorite meal on the SFO trip, and everyone at the table enjoyed what they ordered. I knew as soon as I walked in that I was going to have a good experience. It helped that as we were driving in, we caught some spectacular water views that the boys loved. They had just arrived from IAD and when they saw the water, they finally felt like they were in CA. The restaurant is somewhat small and the service is personal and efficient. I was desperate to have a light dinner after chomping my way through the city earlier in the day. The vast number of choices on the menu made this difficult for me, but I stayed strong. I started with a small hot sake. The boys ordered Asahi. Mom had tea. I chose the Hamachi Carpaccio, which is a fancy way of saying yellowtail sashimi. It came with slices of avocado and a garlicky, jalapeno-y ponzu sauce that was f'in good. For 9.95, it was a great portion of fish and the avocado was very creamy. I also order the eggplant nigiri since I've never seen that on a menu before. Eggplant, yes, eggplant sushi, no. It was delicious; the eggplant was broiled with a slightly sweet sauce over it. My mother really enjoyed the Ocean Fish Salad, which was a mixture of fish and greens combined with a spicy hot dressing. One of the guys ordered a variety of sushi rolls that he promptly gobbled up. Usually my go to is American Sushi but I got tired of the oversized portions. Sometimes bigger is not better (such is the case with oysters!) A maki roll had a 70/30 ratio of rice to filling. Also I was getting complaints from mom and the boyfriend which means time to find a new place. I've always passed by Ocean Fish whenever I go to Mazetti's Bakery. I read some of the reviews on Yelp and a couple of the reviewers mentioned that they deliver! Which is kind of a weird concept but makes sense? I had to see this for myself so I placed an order for delivery (minimum of $20 order) which was last Sunday and since then, I've ordered twice from them. I've never ordered sushi from the same place twice in one week. The rolls are of good portions and tasty, definitely not a panko/mayo explosion. The hamachi nigiri was good, uni nigiri decent. The menu has a lot of good options and reasonably priced. I spent $30 the first time and got free edamame, spent $40 the second time and got a free california roll...hey, that's alright with me! The chicken teriyaki is decent, as is the tempura. The second time I went to go pick up my order and noticed there was no sushi bar so if you're thing is to sit at the sushi bar and watch the construction of your sushi, try somewhere else but if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to American Sushi, come here! read more

Man, Yelp steered me wrong! Came here for an impromptu backup bday dinner for my brother when Koi Palace lost electricity. Party of 8 so we ordered up a storm. The food is 3 stars; the only "pretty good" thing I rememember is the Alaska Roll. The others rolls were just OK at best, and super rice heavy. None of the other dishes/apps were memorable or recommendable. However, what brings this rating down to 2 stars was the service. The waitresses just didn't have it together. It literally took 30 minutes after being seated to get water and tea (asking more than once), some of our appetizers came out after our main sushi rolls were consumed, they didn't take away our trash throughout the night, etc. I won't be coming back. read more

The food. Average. Got the 48er roll with avocado and salmon. The fish eggs were crunchy (extra crunchy) and that texture over powered the roll. I didn't find the crunchiness appeasing so I picked out as much eggs as possible. The miso soup was average. Small pieces of tofu and the green onions were too big. The service. They were fairly quick. However they brought me warm water with lemon (i hate warm lemon water!) They have tables that seat 4 and when a group of 6 came in I was asked to move. Before I did I looked around to see if in fact there was no space for them but my table and then I moved. Once I did I realized they could have sat in the corner area toward the back. I was a little irritated and had I not been starving I would have left because when you sit in a self seating establishment you don't want to be moved around. Would I dine here again? A great "go to" in times you want sushi, appetizers and beer! The prices are fairly reasonable and they have daily deals which is awesome. Can't complain when there are deals! Know this before going: Ocean Fish is an Americanized Japanese sushi joint. The menu items are more about California and spider rolls, less about nigiri and high quality sashimi (although they do offer hand rolls). With those expectations, I think you'll be pleased with Ocean Fish. I ordered a bento box with sashimi, tekka (tuna roll), and salmon teriyaki. The girlfriend ordered a couple of rolls. They threw in a free roll as well. The portions were large enough that we were stuffed afterwards and the food was straight forward and exactly what we expected. As I said, the quality of the sashimi was so-so and I won't be ordering that again here next time. The service was good and they take reservations. I love this little place! Has got to be one of the top sushi places in the area. Not only are their rolls SIMPLE, fresh and delicious, they have an AMAZING happy hour. $1 raw oysters and $2 small beer or sake! Has WINNING written all over this!! When I say simple, their rolls aren't overly stuffed with loads of shrimp tempura and drenched with so much sauce. If you enjoy your sushi raw and a little unclothed like me ;) then this is your place! I docked off 1 star for the location. They deserve to be in a big plaza with lots of open parking! Due to the location and that they're open on Mondays, I've been here maybe 10-15 times now. Negatives: - They can be a little slow when busy. - It's rare that I get the hot tea that I request. - When I do get hot tea, it's boiling hot and I can't drink it until I'm almost done eating. I love to drink a lot of tea and can barely finish 1 cup by the time I want to go. The tea is free though, so maybe this is a cost saving measure?? - They get a lot of phone orders and it seems like they don't meet their quoted time because the people picking it up always have to wait. Then they sit at a table it feels like they stare at me when I eat. - I can see the pile of dirty dishes in a bin next under where they plate some food. - Fake crab. (I don't want Sorbitol with pollock, sorry. I want crab!). - Mayonnaise (with fake crab). Neutral: - Their bentos are good and priced right, but not amazing. Their terriyaki is nothing special. Tastes like the same stuff most everyone else serves. - Their maki is a bit small. Even if big, they're sliced thinly. Making them not filling and expensive because you have to order more, but this seems to be typical at most places these days. - Tuna Tetaki. Great that they have it and it's good, but not unique. PROS: - The service is very friendly. - They do try to be creative with their special rolls and they don't go overboard with the special sauces. - $2 Temaki Monday through Thursday. - Yummy Miso - Super Dynamite Roll is amazing if it's not 300 degrees when you try to bite it. - Veggie tempura roll. They eventually come and ask what to drink but if an Asian walks in then they will be taken care of first. We have experienced this more than one time. We had a talk with the manager and things did not change from the talk. They still treated us last in the place. We always have ordered a lot while here spending lots of $$$'s also. Sucks since it is a short walk to go have dinner but I refuse to be treated to bad in a restaurant. It was a cold night and they sat us near the door with a tiny table..so we asked for the corner table. We sat next to boxes..which is understandable since they just opened. I have regularly ordered delivery from this place for the past five years. Lately it takes up to two hours to receive food and then the sushi is at room temperature - very unappetizing. After reading the countless # of great reviews, I decided to try to this place for myself since I'm always on the hunt for a decent-priced sushi restaurant. Upon arrival, the restaurant front was simple. Nothing about this place would have caught my eye if I was just driving by in the neighborhood. The interior of the restaurant was tidy, yet very plain. Perhaps the simplicity of the décor was intentional? For starters, we ordered the 'Green Balls'. I just had to see what all the fuss was about. Spicy tuna wrapped with avocado. Sounded interesting enough. Surprisingly, the appetizers were pretty good. The spiciness of the tuna wasn't too overwhelming and the avocado was a nice complement to it. Topped with tobiko and sauce, this dish was one of my favorites for the evening. My other favorite was the Firecracker balls. Fried to perfection, these deep fried tuna rolls with house sauce, scallions and sesame were absolutely yummy. Then... thereafter... the excitement died down a bit because everything else we ordered was simply ok, I thought. The Ocean fish roll was good, but nothing for me to rave about. The nigiri's I ordered (Sake & Ikura) were average in taste and size. I was hesitant to try the Uni at first, but as I was placing my order, the waitress reassured me that it was 'fresh'. To my dismay, the Uni was definitely not as 'fresh' as she had claimed. Although not the worst I've eaten.. it was also definitely not the best. On the other hand, the shirmp tempura roll maki seemed like it was the best bang for the buck. It was a generous size roll at less than $5. All in all, I would have to say that Ocean Fish Sushi has a calm and pleasant atmosphere. The watiresses are attentive and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Pretty good spot to get my sushi fix for a decent price. Came here two days ago with my brother for dinner around 8:30. It wasn't too crowded but this place is pretty small. The service here isn't as bad as what I've been reading but it's definitely not top notch quality. You have to call the waiters over but that's expected at any Asian place I go to. So it doesn't bother me. Lol The food was pretty good. I ordered the bento box with chicken katsu, spicy tuna roll, and tuna maki. I mean you can't really mess up either rolls so they were pretty good. The katsu was a little dry and was cut super thin so it looked like there were more pieces. I also ordered the tuna nigiri which was a good size. Wasn't as skimpy as most sushi boat places! My brother ordered the sashimi dinner, some kind of Alaska roll (forgot the name) but it was soooo bomb, and they gave us a complimentary fried roll. They are always asking if we need help and I see them doing the same to other guests. And, we go there often. They are also very patient with my children (who can get a bit wild at times.) Decent sushi. Pretty pricey. Bad service. Shady servers (read last three lines of review). Came in with 4 fiends, 5 of us total, every single one of us servers at other restaurants. Initially we were not greeted until about 8-10 mins after being sat, no big deal they seemed sort of busy. We then had to flag down a "server" to ask for water. She then proceeded to take another tables order, who was sat after us, before bringing the water. Again, we know sometimes people are pushy or impatient and demand to order right away, no big deal. Our "server" came back, dropped off our waters, we placed our order and got a few beers. They have some type of $1.50 bottle beer special, and we all took advantage of that. She never came back to check on us after we placed our order, someone else dropped off the beer and the sushi. All of this was fine until we got the bill, which we had to ask for. Our actual "server" dropped off the bill and said one word "thanks". While everyone was determining how much cash to leave, we added 20% to the total. One of my friends looks at the bill while figuring out his portion and notices there is an auto grat (automatic gratuity) included on the itemized bill. It was hidden in the bottom of the check no bold letters and not even separate from the list of items we ordered, very hard to notice. We thought for a party of 5 it was pretty messed up to add an auto gratuity without even mentioning it while dropping the check. I dislike waiting on younger looking kids (we all look 20-25 years old) just as much as the next server/waiter (because the majority leave shitty tips) but I don't go around shadily adding gratuities without informing the table. Anyway, I paid by credit card, and when the merchant copy was brought to the table it read: pre-tip amt: $110 with an extra line that read tip ___________, Are you kidding? SHADY practices over here. One day after watching the beautiful sunset with my boyfriend at Pacifica, we decided to explore around the restaurants in Pacifica, since it is so close to the ocean and the fish market is just right there, I expect most restaurants to have really fresh fish, which we were right about that. This place looks extremely small from the outside, right across from safeway and the small plaza. Parking is very easy since Pacifica is kinda dead. We ordered their deluxe sushi combo, all the sushi were very fresh and delicious, it is well decorated as well. However, the price is not that cheap, but you do get what you pay for. They have specials sometimes with 1 dollar oysters, we wanted to try some that night but it was sold out. Hopefully next time we can try more stuff from them. Pretty good sashimi and many, many choices for rolls. I came here with a group of 5 at around 6 PM on Sunday. It was busy, and we were seated in a tiny table in the back. We waited for awhile before the waitress came to take our order. She was immediately apologetic and offered us free edamame. We ordered the Sushi Deluxe, which came with 5 pieces of sashimi, 5 pieces of nigiri, and a Rainbow Roll, and then we ordered several rolls, including the Grasshopper, Show Me The Money, Crazy Monkey, Spider, and one other roll. We also got one salmon skin hand roll, but they gave us an additional complimentary one as an additional apology for making us wait (I think). The rolls were all really tasty, but kind of on the pricey side. The specialty rolls are usually around $12, and the regular rolls are around $8. The sashimi had a good texture, especially the tuna and the hamachi. I've had better salmon sashimi, but, overall, the sashimi gets a thumbs up from me. Salmon skin hand roll is very yummy. The price was right though. Giants Roll (special) - Tempura roll topped with seared Butterfish and I think fried garlic/onions and green onions... this was very delicious... I think this was about 11 bucks but they give you a hefty portion of food Red Lion Roll - Soft Shell crab roll with tuna on top... very simple... the soft shell crab was fried very crunchy. Sauce was on the side... slightly sweet but otherwise the roll is pretty plain so you have to dip it in your soy sauce/wasabi to bring out the tuna. Forgot the name of the roll - but it was pretty much tempura roll topped with hamachi, tuna, and salmon and salad dressing. This was really good Firecracker Roll - so if you order 40 bucks worth of food and dine in, this is FREE! Its a deep fried cali roll with sweet sauce and salad dressing sauce. The inside was not oily or soggy like deep fried rolls tend to get. It was really good and those sauces always compliment each other well. Obviously, theres better fish options out there... but as far as value, this place is pretty damn good. The nigiri is more expensive than 8 Sushi and the cuts on top of the roll aren't the biggest, but the volume of food you get is decent as well as the free roll and dollar beers. Pricewise and comparing the quality of the food we got/fish slice size/pictures on the menu, I felt that the bento box and the chiraishi are overpriced, but everything else is of good value. read more
