Beautiful atmosphere but food is mediocre. All fried. Low quality. We tried twice and cannot go back.

This is not a good addition to our neighborhood and definitely NOT worthy of no reservations. Service was slow. Salsa and chips aren't good. Drinks are inconsistent...one good and one very bad. Based on the service, food, and drinks, we can now cross this off our lists. Arrived at 11:05 in order to beat any Friday, Cinco de Mayo rush, and were seated immediately. Being New Mexico red enchilada fans (one frequenter of The Shed and the other of more relaxed places in and around Las Cruces), we were curious to try Odelay's "Enchiladas de la Shed" that are advertised (and were described by our waiter) as being just like those of The Shed. Although we were a little wary when our waiter didn't know what we meant by "flat" or "pancake style" stacked enchiladas, we decided to try them anyway. Surprisingly, when he returned to take our food order after submitting our drink order, the manager on duty came up, interrupted him to say he needed him in the kitchen for "about 30 seconds," and pulled him away without a word to us by way of apology or anything else. Almost ten minutes later, the waiter finally came back and took our food order. (Although the manager did stop by at some point to apologize, he said, "I didn't mean to take your waiter away," to which we good-naturedly replied, "well, actually, yes, you did - that was exactly what you intended and actually did!" He blamed his behavior on needing to tell the wait staff about the specials, to prepare for the busy Cinco de Mayo crowd they were expecting. Good grief - whatever time you open, get that done beforehand, not when you have customers already seated. We were never even told about the specials.) When the $16 Cadillac Moon margaritas arrived, they were nearly flavorless and watery. The waiter never asked us how we liked them, including after we stopped someone else and asked for extra lime juice to see if that would help. Neither he nor the manager, whom we asked to remove the $5 they charged us for the lime juice, ever inquired about the margs or offered to remove their charges from the bill - pretty negligent when it was obvious we weren't drinking them (our glasses were still 3/4 full at the end of the meal). The enchiladas? The Shed needs to be notified that its reputation is being maligned by Odelay's claim to be serving their enchiladas. The Shed's description of its rolled enchilada plate: "Two rolled blue corn enchiladas with cheddar cheese and onion, smothered in red chile, served with a side of beans & posole." Odelay's "Enchiladas de la Shed": slightly greasy white corn tortillas filled with either mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese (too flavorless to tell), with a dark red, not particularly flavorful chile sauce ladled on top. The tortillas were pale and tasteless, the cheese not at all appropriate, there were no onions at all, and the chile sauce did not redeem the mess. (Was there cumin in that? If so, that's Tex-Mex, not New Mexico red.) The beans were good. The chips were good. The salsa was fine. The posole tasted as though they merely put a ladle of their green chile pork stew into an equal amount of basic canned hominy, with the water from the can included. The broth and hominy (it was not the good chewy posole it should have been) were both flavorless, making it pretty clear that no simmering had taken place to at least allow them to absorb some of the green chile flavor. Sour cream and shredded cabbage on top of that? Weird. The waiter did stop by once to ask us how the enchiladas were. When we politely told him they were not very good, he merely said something neutral and walked away. Didn't inquire further for specifics or ask if we wanted something else. Bottom line - if you want to pay a base charge of $36/person for a watery margarita and a poor excuse for a New Mexico red enchilada plate accompanied by mediocre service, this may be your place. With as many tables as they had open the whole time we were there - rather telling in Dallas on a Friday and Cinco de Mayo - you won't have a problem getting seated, at least. read more

The food is great! The bar is fun and the bartenders are great. This place would earn a 5 star EXCEPT for the RUDE and extremely customer unfriendly woman on the front desk. The owners must get rid of the current people there and replace with pleasant customer service oriented person(s). read more

The tortilla soup and chile releno were not what I expected. I could not tell if there was chicken in it as it tasted like potatoe. The relleno might have been good but the sauce was more like spagetti sauce. First time and way too much money for strange food to come back. read more

We love this place. Their food is much more flavorful and fresh than their competitors. We love their queso and brisket tacos.

True, Mexican food. If you have been looking for authentic Mexican food, then you'll find it at Odelay. They have spent a lot of time on perfecting their menu and everything is delicious. I've eaten there several times but one of my top favorite is the Naked Chile Relleno with brisket. They have two different types of queso and they are both delicious. The head chef, Jessie will certainly make its way to your table for any questions. Truly, even though this is a new place I know for a fact it's going to be a great place for our neighborhood and family. And one of the biggest positives is the fact the menu is reasonable. Not at all expensive compared to others on the same street. read more

Great food , great service. Great all around tex mex joint that the area has been missing. Real cool patio.....Been here about 6 Times so far and everytime has been on point. Just a good solid Mexican food joint but with seemingly higher quality food/meat than what's found in your regular Dallas tex mex joints. Also really affordable considering the quality. read more

Walking into Odelay, the decor was fun, everything was clean and colorful. The bar was packed, full of people and smiles. As I sit down I kept over hearing how great the food was. The beautiful young lady that waited on us was bilingual, she spoke perfect English , but could explain each item on the menu . We started with Margarita's and Queso Blanco . The chips were crisp and the queso was just the way I like it. We ordered from a plentiful menu, like it was our last meal. I had a bowl of the Green Chili Pork Stew and the Classic Enchilada Dinner. I was so full but could not quit eating, Odelay exceeded all my expectations, the ambiance, service, and most important, the food. As we were leaving I noticed, everyone was having fun. Cannot wait to take more friends back to Odelay ! read more

I have had a great experience here, but in all fairness, I have only eaten the chimichanganitas. They are REALLY good. The chips are fresh and not greasy. The salsa is very flavorful. But the star of my experience at Odelay is their frozen Paloma. Their frozen margarita was nothing special, but the frozen Paloma has won me over! It is AMAZING!!!! I don't think I can ever enjoy a frozen margarita anywhere, ever again without longing for Odelay's frozen Paloma. It is that good!! read more

We love having this new restaurant in our area! We were worried about some of the reviews, but found no issues with our experience! Rosario, our server was attentive, but not overbearing...we were seated in a bar booth which was perfect. The Cadillac Rita was great! The queso blanco was very good...we shared a single order of fajitas but had beef and chicken.. excellent! The chips and salsa are delish... think we found a new neighborhood go to! read more

OMG, this place is awful. Food portions should have been on the kids menu...Asked for bill to split, our bill was double what it should have been. Noticed other tables food and drinks were on our check. The Manager said he would take care of it and ended running credit card 7 x before I had to ask him to stop. He never got it right... Manager was extremely rude and asked us to leave because they were busy. Debit card was charged and I have to wait 4 days until the charges are credited back.... Obviously they don't know how to treat customers. How will this place stay open with this type of service? read more

Was really hoping this place lived up to the hype. Alas very disappointed in service and food. We know it's hard to get folks to work but for crying out loud, try to at least get employees that have actually been in a restaurant, no need for them to put on an attitude. Hint to owners. The customer is always right, not your employees. Let's get to food. Queso, how can you screw up queso? They found a way. Watery and lacked flavor. If you can dress up water and make it look like cheese, that was the final outcome. Ok so let's fish. Snapper Veracruz is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. This dish was dry and textured like it has been frozen damage. Sent it back for another. Same deal. My dining companions didn't show any favorites on their of table. Conclusion, not inviting me back for a second glance. Much better places to get tex mex and close by too. Too bad too. Place looked really nice and I was really looking forward to trying it out. Was excited to try and was left disappointed at the first experience. We were placed in a table in the sun. When we asked to sit in the shade, we were told that was the waiting area... two parties got sat there during our meal despite more sun spots being available. They should consider getting shades for the patio facing greenway as the sun BEATS down or allowing more people to dine at the "waiting area" tables. Patio tables are also pushed way too close together. We had to request silverware and napkins twice before getting. No one on the patio had any. Frozen swirl margarita tasted ok but there was a strong taste salt at the bottom of the glass from the first sip. Should have been sweeter. Delivery on drinks was SLOW. The table next to us went to the bar after we placed our order for 2 drinks and they came back with their 4 drinks before we got ours. Loved that we were given tortillas without asking! Queso blanco was ok and overpriced. Guac needed salt. Food was alright. Taco meat could have used more seasoning. Nothing special. Food delivery was fast unlike drinks. read more
