Hands down, this is absolutely the worst TexMex restaurant in Dalllas. Nothing we had was good. Whomever came up with these recipes should be ashamed of themselves. The chicken in the enchilada was mushy. Possibly canned chicken? Not aure but it was gross. The chili con carne was taco meat, literally. Ground beef with a taco seasoning packet. Rice and beans, bland no flavor. They make the cheese enchiladas with Monterrey jack cheese. Nope! Nothing tasted fresh. Terrible food and horribly overpriced. I live in the neighborhood and was excited to try Odelay. When I was finally able to get in without having a 1.5 hour wait I jumped at the chance. My friend and I were seated on the patio which is very nice and spacious. Unfortunately this restaurant is 100% style over substance. The food was incredibly sub-par especially considering there are so many other great options in the neighborhood. Neither I or my friend enjoyed our meals. I ordered a salad and the dressing was so bland I asked for another thinking that might help. After asking two different servers the extra dressing never came. It tasted like I was eating plain lettuce leaves. Also the margaritas were mediocre at best. The food was bland, the service was lacking, and the price was very high for the quality of food and service. I had high hopes but I will not be returning. read more

Worst.margarita.ever I ordered a plate with two beef tacos, and I asked if I could have chicken instead. "Sure", I was told. The plate came with one beef and one chicken?? - no problem. But the bill amount was for the item I ordered, with an extra charge for BEEF!. I asked about this and the server said he would get the manager, who never showed up. I know we are being patient, the whole world is having issues. But every single thing went wrong. My order was wrong. My check was wrong. They were so busy that the waitstaff could not attend to us. We ran out of chips and hot sauce, which were never refilled. Ran out of water. Food was not good--probably because I was brought the wrong dish. I won't go here again. Three of us had dinner the other night - June 14th - at Odelay for the first time. We ordered three different "Texican Classics" (#6 #2, #4) The tacos and Chile Relleno were awful and completely inedible - of which were not consumed. The enchilada verde (1) was dried out and had no sauce. The tortilla soup had the consistency of a paste. Bottom line- possibly the most popular local new restaurant with the absolute worst tex-mex food. A very disappointing experience. On a positive note, the service was reasonably good. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last Friday night. It was extremely busy and chaotic. We sat at the bar--service was very slow. In fact, we almost left. We were there for about 11/2 hrs and when it was time to leave I noticed my purse was gone. I panicked and immediately got the manager. I left very very upset and eventually got a call from the owner. He was very rude and lax with my husband claiming " what did we want him to do about it!" During the conversation it was obvious he was intoxicated! He claimed his personal attorney would call us. No call! I am shocked by his lack of care or concern. My purse was hanging on the hook under the bar. Julian, the owner claims they have no cameras. I wonder if it was an inside job! I lost over $2k worth of personal property in addition to the hassle of replacing credit cards, driver license, key fob etc. Beware! Watch your purses! I will never ever go there again! And I am shocked at the lack of professionalism with this establishment!! read more

Sadly-the service was terrible. The food is okay, however, one person at our table sent her meal back and it wasn't much better the second time. No one comes by to refill water glasses and you have to ask several times for more chips (while you are waiting for someone to take your order). Went in for a quick lunch on a weekday. Prompt service. Wonderful salsa with some spice. Brisket tacos stole the show. The brisket is served in whole pieces (not shredded, which is typical) and the flavor/texture combo was the best I've ever had at any Tex-Mex restaurant. Could not have had a worse dining experience. Server seemed frazzled and didn't know anything about the menu. I have some food allergies, and the server should know the ingredients of meals. Everyone else is right about the margaritas. Watery, flavorless, and too expensive. Chips were cold and salsa bland. To top it off, a child in the restaurant started screaming non stop, and when we asked them to please speak to that table, the manager said they can't tell people how to raise their kids. It got worse and worse. We got our greasy meals to go and will never return. Dallas has too many great restaurants to spend a dime or a minute here. read more

The Odelay patio was a fantastic spot for the evening event our preschool parents club hosted. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, particularly Arlenis, who helped figure out which space worked best for our group and worked with us on the menu. This place keeps getting better and better. They definitely had a few kinks to work out in the beginning, but they keep improving the menu and service, which is refreshing. I went on Friday and ordered the chicken fajitas, which now come on top a bed of perfectly grilled onions and peppers and.... queso fundido - why has no one thought to do this before? Insanely good. I'd also add that the portions used to be a little small but not this time - I could barely finish. The only thing I'd say they could still work on is their flour tortillas - they're pretty good (and better than most Tex Mex spots in town, especially Mi Cocina and Mesero), but I prefer the ones at Las Palmas that come closer to the top spots in Houston. read more

Walked in and was told by the assistant manager to walk out and use the other door. It was 100° out. We proceeded to walk to the hostess stand, and the assistant manager rolled her eyes at us. Then went to the hottest stand and was ignored. Menu looked interesting, so we figured we would give them a second chance. Turned to the hostess to ask for a table, and she and the assistant manager blatantly ignored us and continued on with their conversation. We said hello twice and continued to be ignored. Then we told them it was our first time in, and they continued to ignore us. We then said again, this is our first time in, and we will not be coming back in, and the assistant manager proceeds to say have a nice day. Completely uncalled for and beyond rude.
